The seed of Ishmeal (Hagar's son) is very relevant in the scheme of things concerning the plans of God for Christains as it relates to persecution. It helps to strengthen faith. Muslims are tools in the hands of God to always keep christains on their toes. Happy are you when men persecute you, Mohammad is not in the scriptures. His grand mntor, Ishmeal is the one that is in the bible except if the quran versed it that MO's name was mentioned i nthe bible . |

ebos: So, when a Pastor prays for you, what is he doing? But I tell you that the Angels and the Saints in Heaven are very much alive and they also pray, nothing like necromancy. Mary is one of the Saints. There will be joy in heaven over one sinner that repents. This show the Saints in heaven knows what is happening on earth. Rev. 8 1-5 also made mention of the angels and the saints praying in heaven with Incense. Also Rev. 6 Vs 10-11 the Saints in Heaven crying with a loud voice O Lord, holy and true, until You judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell on the earth. This is a prayer and it shows they can still pray on our behalf.I think you are getting all these mixed up. First and foremost, the mediation you are talking about is completely at variance with the mediation of Jesus which the bible talks about. The mediation of Jesus according to Hebrews 8:6 ¶But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises. Hebrews 9:15 ¶And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance. Hebrews 12:24 And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel.simlpy refers to the work of the cross. It is not just Jesus staying in Heaven sitting on the throne and negotiating with God on our behalf. That is not the kind of mediation which Jesus demonstrated. His mediation was the cross, the crucifixion and not the one you would want to assign to him now. Secondly, who has told you that the saints who rejoice in heaven are the people who have died in Christ? Even if it is, who ascribed the function of a pray-er to Mary? Why create a longer route when Christ said I am the way? Look at this funny analogy, i think we protestants will get our prayers answered first because we pray directly to God through Jesus but Catholics pray first to Mary, who thn (i preseme carries it to Jesusbfor going to God) ![]() ebos: Mary as Co-redemptrix – Now, think what would have been our fate today if Mary had doubted or rejected the words of Angel Gabriel. You yourself will agree with me that this analysis does not hold water. What if Mary had died after child birth? Again, let me tell you that, after the child birth, Mary was required to go and purify herself meaning she was impure!!!! Sorry if that hurts but it is simple inference from the scriptures. God would have probably sent Angel Gabriel to tell her not to bother about the purification or simply revealed to her in her dreams not to bother. But there was nothing as such meaning she fell into the category of all othr women. I appreciate the fact that she is blessed being the womb that carried the saviour for nine months though. If she had declined like you asserted, God would have looked for someone else and the story would have been prbably diferent today. ebos: In the OT, when it was said that Sarah would conceive and bear a child, she laughed – an indication of her doubt. When it was told that Elizabeth would conceive and bear a child – Zechariah doubted. You know the consequence. But when Angel Gabriel told Mary that the Power of the Holy Spirit would overshadow her and she would conceive and bear a son who would be the Messiah of the world. Mary humbly believed the words of the Angel Gabriel. What a great faith?Several other women in the scripture had demonstrated similar virtues of faith hope and love. ebos: I know if you were Mary, you would have asked Angel Gabriel to show you where it was in the scripture that someone conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit before or to mention one name in the history of Israel who conceived without having intercourse. Generations upon generations would have been victims of your show me in the scripture where someone conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit. Do you think that Mary’s faith did not contribute to redeem mankind? She really contributed because her faith made it possible for us to have the long awaiting Messiah. This is comical ![]() ebos: Mary as the Queen of Heaven - Revelation Chapter 12. Though, we (Catholics) believe the woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a garland of twelve stars is Mary. If you doubt it, then who is this woman? It is not enough to doubt without stating alternative.I have addressed this. ebos: Now, ebos interpretation of Rev. 12. (Quote ebos for now, and not Catholic) shebi you hear?Mr ebos! Mr ebos!! Mr ebos!!!. Very soon, you go begin produce and sell your own bible commetary o! Ol boy you sabi bend o. Kai. Why you run away from the 12 stars wehin dey there? Okay let me resolve your worries about the scene in Revlation 12. Rev. 12: 1-6 The church is being presented here under the emblem of a woman. She was clothed with the sun, justified, sanctified, and shining by union with Christ, the Sun of Righteousness (See Mal. 4: 12). Having on her head a crown of twelve stars; the doctrine of the gospel, preached by the twelve apostles (you know that Mary has no relationship with the first 12 apostles), is a crown of glory to all true believers. As in pain to bring forth a holy family; desirous that the conviction of sinners might end in their conversion. A dragon is a known emblem of Satan, and his chief agents, or those who govern for him on earth, at that time the pagan empire of Rome, the city built upon seven hills. As having ten horns, divided into ten kingdoms. Having seven crowns, representing seven forms of government. As drawing with his tail a third part of the stars in heaven, and casting them down to the earth; persecuting and seducing the ministers and teachers. As watchful to crush the Christian religion; but in spite of the opposition of enemies, the church brought forth a manly issue of true and faithful professors, in whom Christ was truly formed anew; even the mystery of Christ, that Son of God who should rule the nations, and in whose right his members partake the same glory. This blessed offspring was protected of God. The woman no be Mary at all and for your info, do not read what is not into it ![]() ebos: Mother of God – If Elizabeth who was filled with the Holy Spirit could address Mary as the Mother of God, who can argue it? To argue it is a clear blasphemy. No long story on this one.Ok. I believe i should refer to Joseph as the Father of God ![]() ebos: Once more, I ask, what is the Pastor doing when he prays for you? Interceding or what? When he prays, he is interceding truly. But i also pray for him. Do you people pray for Mary? ebos: Was St Elizabeth hallucinating when she called Mary the Mother of God or she was filled or inspired by the Holy Spirit? If she was filled with the Holy Spirit, is it wise to take a queue of someone filled with the Holy Spirit or not?[i]In the literal sense, Mary can be referred to as the Mother of God in human form but not God in Spirit because God has no beginning. This is where you miss it. That role is not important because God (thorugh Hos Word, which is Christ) created Mary and not vice versa. Hoping to hear from you. Cheers! |
@Infourmer, If you believe that "a new creature" in Christ (2 Cor. 5:17) never experiences sickness, then please help explain the reason why the same apostle who wrote 2 Corinthians 5 is the one who acknowledged that he himself and certain mature believers also experienced sickness:
[li]Epaphroditus: (Philp. 2:25 & 26) "For he longed after you all, and was full of heaviness, because that ye had heard that he had been sick"[/li]

[li]Trophimus: (2Tim. 4:20) "Erastus abode at Corinth: but Trophimus have I left at Miletum sick."[/li]

[li]Timothy: (1 Tim. 5:23) "Drink no longer water, but use a little wine for thy stomach's sake and thine often infirmities."[/li]

Pilgrim, please note this: the fact that they were the early apostles does not mean that they had a full knowledge of all provisions of the salvation package. I would rather say that their focus was very much on expanding and stabilisation of the church then that they really did not sit down to come to a full grasp of the understandings of the full gospel of prosperity and health though they preached it. The level of revelational knowledge (and expounding oon the Word of God) we now have these days is alarming. The exploits of Dan. 11 : 32 we are talking about is becoming more real thse days. Knowing God is becoming deeper by the day. I would say this: the salvation package cannot be fully exploited. There is so much in there that you can only enjoy what you can see in this inexhaustible package. If you can't see it, you can't enjoy it.
What is important to note is that believers in Christ have not yet received their glorified bodies - and the bodies we now have are described as "our vile body" which shall be changed at the coming of Christ to be fashioned like unto His own (Php. 3:21). As such, we in our bodies at this present time are still subject to pain, tiredness, sweat, and other things that normal people experience - as the same apostle Paul declared in Romans 8:23 >>
That is why you can feel tiredness and a headache but it is your responsibility to tell the spirit to go immedaitely you feel it without allowing it to settle and build its nst in your body.
Let's be careful about this subject because some people have supposed that the Law was unto a "curse" of sickness! That is simply not true. Saints in both the OT and NT have experienced sickness - not as a matter of the old covenant or anything affecting the new covenant; but because our bodies in the present are still subject to the normal experience of our lot from the Fall in Genesis 3 until today. That is not to say that we're under any "curse" of Gen. 3; but this is how the apostle puts it:
Rom. 8:20-22 "For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope, Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now."

The curse of the law comprised of sickness, pains, sweat, and other ill-healths. All thes things crept it when God cursed man in Genesis. The coming of Christ came to abolish these curses and remove us from the curse of the law. See Gal. 3: 13 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree: 14 That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.. The work of the Cross is total. What you do not see in a package, you do not enjoy.
I hope we keep these things in proper perpectives so we don't continue to propagate the misconceptions of extreme beliefs. Cheers.
These are not really extreme. What you believe you can enjoy!

|
There. For me, I don't have any qualms about anyone felicitating with friends on celebrating goodwills; but my position is often that if what is set before me is expressing something directly contravening what I know to be God's truth, I'd rather wish them well; and for the friend's conscience I would rather not partake. At other times, I simply give thanks and partake of what is set on the table.
On that note, mukina2 and slimsikiru, please extend those goodis to me when the time comes . Orobo my guy, which name you no go call pilgrim finish? enh? There is something you guys (catholics) are not getting at all. How are you different from muslims if all you do is pour out vituperations when touched in a most sensitive place. I thought your engagements would be intellectually enriching but alas, you seem to tell me that you havent got the virtue of patience and longsuffering. You need these virtues if you must know more about the God you profess to serve. If our approach has been biteful, sorry about that but the intention is not to make catholicsm look foolish. We are only trying to weigh all matter and tst every spirit accorsing to the word of God. For your info, it is not only catholicism that has thrown up controversial issues, Islam, Jehovah Witness, Mormons, Grailers, and all sorts have very serious controversies surrounding them which we all tend to put forward and discuss. Paul and the Apostles defended the faith. You must defend your faith to your best possible knowledge and weigh all things. The fact that you were born into a religion should not becloud your ability to reason. Put sentiments asides, and seek to know the truth. What do you know about the Godfathers in the Vatican for instance? |
mazaje: Pastors are really decieving nigerians to the extent that sometimes you wonder if all the members of the congregation are under a spell, the last time i went to a church in nigeria,i was totally astonished, the pastor gave a very very strong message initially,You sound just too funny and overtly mischievious with that comment. You do not use you myopic experience to judge a whole generation of people. If by chance you found yourself in a church pastored by a dubious fellow, do you now use that to castigate every other church or pastor! mazaje: at the end he dwelled on people's fears and insecurities and made sure he pushed his points really hard, telling the congregation of how God will take care of them and provide for them when they give qualitative offering unto him(offering time is blessing time you will always hear them say). The fact that he dwelt on people's insecurities and fears is sad enough but th qurstion you should ask is this: why the need to fear? Why feel insecured? That is a very personal question. The fact that we are humans created by God and that thre is so much evil in the world, especially in our nation (Nigeria) whre there is so much insecurity of life and property due to the failure of our leadrs is enough to mak someon seek refuge in God who would guaranty these things. What else do you need in a country where the sudden catches the police and othe agencies like Fire Service unawares? Would you not rather seek for divine protection so that when these events occur, you will be shielded from them hurting you or your loved ones. My Pastor for instance, wont do that, he would rather encourage or charge you to be strong in faith and know the WORD of God and its application to life's issues. It all boils down to the personality of the pastor. You can't fall into that trap of hasty generalisation. Lastly, the people have refused to search the scriptures and grow themselves. If they grow up, they will soon discover that th pastor is not helping them and move out to a place where they will be fed with the raw word of God to face life's issues themselves so that they will not be frequently ripped off. Calls for money in the church will continue to be and you are not confined to hell if you do not give. No shackles have been placed on your neck dragging you forward to give. mazaje: instead of telling them(congregation) to go and do legitimate busineses and struggle hard he was busy telling them of how he needed some money when he was in trouble sometime ago and he prayed to god, he said he quoted some bible verses and immediately he went out a not very close friend called him and gave him just the amount he needed, every body went wild with the shouts of amen and what not,Again, telling people a lifestory is only a kind of motivation. He was only trying to demonstrate that these things do work when practicalised in true faith and in accordance to the undiluted Word of God. Shouting means they probably got the message that God can minister to anybody and use him/her for you. I hope he was not telling them to do illegititmate businss anyway? mazaje: the funny thing is that, that is not the reality of most of the people in the congregation most of them pray for money but they never get any money to the extent that they resorted to going to church to hear calming messages that will soothe their batard financial lives. That they pray for money and do not get is a wrong premise which might mean you are saying the man's teachings arent working for them. Getting money is tied to the law of sowing & receiving. If you do not work, you do not expect to get money. The primary antedote is work. When you work, you can then use the financial principles taught to sow and reap. Going to work is a form of sowing while your salary is a form of harvesting. The scripture says, for as the heavens and the earth remains, there shall not cease to be sowing and harvesting seasons (see Gen. 8:22). Again, i can also see some twistings here. Going to church to hear calming mssages on their Financially batard lives? Makes me wonder the kind of church you are using as an example except you hav decided to just kill their reputation to justify your claims. And concerning praying, i hope they are asking the right way and for the right purpose James 4:3 Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts. mazaje: The church only serves as a solace but foolishly they keep going their and keep enriching these criminals that are very good with words.Your knowledge of what the church is is warped. Solace? Who says? The gathering (which you call church) is supposed to empower you with Knowledge and wisdom for living Jeremiah 3: 15 And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding.. mazaje: The fact still remains that despite all the giving and scarifices people are doing their lives havent changed a bit, most of the folks i know back home are still the same each time i visit, their lives havent changed much despite all the endless offering they have been rendering to the churches they attend.I hope those your people you are reffering to have legitimate businesses. Then they should get out of that church and look for a living one. mazaje: people are still dying in poverty while the very clever pastors are getting richer than ever before, why all the lies ,facade and deciet?Nobody is under compulsion to give out anything? When giving, you need to understand what to give, how to give, when to give and to whom? All these things work togther. I suspect that your church seriously. These guides will always work when put to the test. mazaje: I go to churches here and all you hear is a decent massege, they tell you what they feel is right and they never tell you that poverty is a sin the pastor will never tell you that giving unto the lord is a panacea for all your finalcial problems, they never will tell you that you should bring money before u will get blessings from the lord, infact they don't collect offerings they way we do it in nigeria, you just drop what you have in the offering box at the door which most of them don't do.The word of God works wonders everywhere whether home or abroad. Anybody not preaching th message of prosperity is not doing th congregation any good. He is depriving thm of the true blessings of God. Luke 6:38 Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.. If you are already rich, you can be richer if you apply the words of God. Moreover, those in advanced economies are just living normal lives with good working conditions already delivered to them on a platter of gold. Their challenges are therefore not the very fundamentals that we are facing here. mazaje: At the end of it all they people here who mostly don't even believe in God and give much less to their churches live longer lives, are richer, healthier, more comfortable, have more disposable incomes, are more secured than the average nigerian that goes to church every dayGod cannot be mocked. You just employ those financial principles and see whether you wont experience financial breakthroughs. It works for anybody. They are principles of life not limited to christains. Also, don't get confused while saying that he has refused to bless those who trust in Him. It is not a 'natin' thing but a 'personal' thing. However, if the nation shall also apply the principles very well, it will prosper. Righteousness exalts a nation, sin is a reproach to any people. mazaje: Give and it will be given unto you they are always saying, most nigerians give and nothing is happening to the country as a whole ,the people here don't give and they always reap in tenfolds, as far as poverty exist their will always be the need for gods unless if the poor people will get some form of utopia here on earth.People shine your eyes its better to give to a hungry neighbour or a destitute on the street than to go and give your hard earned money to a criminal called a pastor. There is lucidly a very wide gap to be covered. The country will do well when leaders who fear the Lord mount the thrones. As an individual, you will do well if you fear the Lord and then follow the financial principles judiciously.

|

Well, my submission is this. It is not given to every body to believe in God. But obviosuly, it is foolhardy to say that God is not real. When i say God hre, i mean an intelligent force or spirit behind th order of things. Would things just be on their own without a control. To all of your questions about life, there is an answer in the bible. Throw them out one by one and you will be gladly servd with the answers. |
