Omofranca: Hmmm...will this dress code have universal application across RCCG? Last time I checked (admittedly about 2 years) ago, all RCCG London Jesus House choir members were attired in jeans trousers for one of their services. Seriously, I've always wondered why Mummy Adeboye dresses without jewelry but many members and even parish leaders' wives do not do likewise. I assumed that each church member was left alone to be personally convinced about it or otherwise. However I personally believe that there's nothing wrong with a church having a dress code, each to his own if it will help instil discipline. If for instance I want to benefit from a particular Deeper Life Programme, I cover my hair just so as not to cause them offence but don't bother when going to a TREM programme.Obeying church dress rules may not guarantee heaven but they would guarantee order and minimise straying eyes (at least during the service). This articles also lends credence to the fact that Tithing in the era of Grace makes the Word of God of no effect and makes you fall back to the burden of Mosaic law and not the generous Grace of Christ. I am not under the Law but under Grace. |

Religion / Re: Jesus Is The Fulfillment Of The Law (tithing), Do I Still Need To Tithe? by cgift(m): 1:15pm On Mar 22, 2012 |
We are not under the law but under grace. Tithing was a requirement of the law and ends with the law. If I am under grace, i am not obliged to pay tithes. I am however aware that seed time and harvest time exists continually, so i go to church with "offerings". The offerings is however not modelled after what obtains in the time of the law and its requirements. Christians, you can give tithe (if you want) but it is never a requirement under grace in Christ. Read the epistles of Paul very well. So, anyone who gives tithes today should know very well that it is only a requirement of love (which comes as a result of the grace Christ himself brought to us which demonstrated His love towards us)and not of the law. Do not be yoked in your believing. The tithes they preach today in referencing Malachi 3 was under the law. The law came through Moses, but Grace and Truth came through Jesus! So, its okay to give tithes but when you think you are satisfying an injunction to give tithes according to Malachi, you are still under the law of Moses and yet to come to appreciate the knowledge of Grace and Truth which Christ represents. So, there are no curses for not paying tithes if we are under grace. Anybody who takes us back to the law in preaching what the law of Moses required is an Antichrist and abides in error and false teachings. He should however note that if he then breaks any of the other laws (since he has chosen to remain in the law), he has broken all (and his keeping of one or some of the laws of Moses is being nullified by breaking another law). So, why go back to the law that was difficult to keep in the first place for which purpose Christ came and took away the law (which was the middle wall of separation) and replaced it with grace. Anybody who keeps quoting the old testament and saying that curses abound for anyone who does not pay tithe is an Antichrist and abides in error. Tithing under this era of Grace is therefore of Love and never of the Law. Read Pauls teachings again and you will see what I am saying. Paul never preached tithe (cos it was no longer relevant), Christ also came to replace the law with something greater : Love through His Grace and Truth personified. Gracias ! 1 Like |

Pastor Kun: @Cgift Thanks AIO, I really understand his position. Nobody tries to force anything down another's throat. We are all here to learn and polish ourselves and deliver ourselves from some doctrines of demons disguised as truth today. How many people of these preachers got the kind of revelation Paul got before commencing his ministry? They read the scriptures or at best go to Bible schools and make up what their own doctrines should be and call it the truth. Who says? In doing that, they violate (albeit without knowing) the admonition in 2 Peter 1:20 "Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. May God help us. Paul was taught by the Spirit himself in addition to his own perfect understanding of the Jewish laws and yet never for once mentioned tithing. Remember he gave the most of the New testament of Grace and Truth teachings which we use today. Most of these preachers today read the scriptures to come to conclusions on what they think is right - hence the confusion in Christianity today. But God is not the author of confusion. When I pay tithe today, its not because I will come under a curse today if i do not, but I recognise it as an avenue to sow and show my love for God and that is the spirit. I recognise that all i have comes from Him alone and i give back in return whilst recognising the seasons of seed time and harvest. I no longer live in condemnation or fear of some gloomy curses. In fact, I do not even call it tithe, I just call it love giving even though it is the same 10% of my income - (remember also that tithes of yore where not even money but produce, etc though money was available back then). If you are a preacher that has always insisted on tithing and reading Malachi 3. Please change your teachings to that of love which the Grace and Truth of Jesus brings and not the Law of Moses. You can cause a great correction of error in your ministry and denomination. My church does not preach tithe as being under the law, yet, it has not stopped the inflow of blessings. People have not stopped giving and won't stop if you show them the real New Testament teachings on giving which replaces the forceful and mandatory laws of the old teestament. If the first was without a fault, there would not have been the need for the second. Do not put old wine in new wine skins. Think and reflect on these things Olaadegbu. |
Religion / Re: Examples Of Apostle Paul conviniently ignored By preachers/pastors today. by cgift(m): 9:04am On Mar 22, 2012 |
Bro Olaadegbu, There comes a time in one's life where one has to really do some deep introspection and examine some doctrines we have held fast unto for years and ask ourselves: in a test under fire and scrutiny, do these teachings really conform to the teachings of grace that Christ preached? There are so many false teachings in the body of Christ today which unfortunately are taught by supposedly great men of God, but falls flat on its surface when you read the spirit of the word and the letters. Bros, how many laws were contained in the old testament? At least if you read Deut. 28 which you are very conversant with, you would know that we it is practically impossible to keep all of them. By implication, if you cant keep ALL of them but only a few, you are in violation of all still. Right ? So, what am I saying? Tithing was demanded by God in the days of yore mainly for the upkeep of the children of Levi who were the priests and were banned from working. There were no salaries. Men of God today are on Salaries? (Correct me if I am wrong). Back to the law and its requirements; if the law stated I should not wear clothes that are made of different materials (one of those wonderful laws in Leviticus) (e.g. putting on a garment that was made with silk and cotton, or that I should not plant two different seeds belonging to different crops on the same parcel of land, etc cos there are so many requirements) tell me how practicable it would be for you to know and then fulfil all these requirements? If tithing also belonged to the same era of the law and requirements, why sieve out only this part of the law and requirements of Moses and discard the others? It begs reasoning right ? Lets go further. The admonition for giving as taught by Christ and later Paul, is completely different when compared to the period of the law. New Covenant giving is: freewill, sacrificial, generous, joyful, regular and motivated by love for God, fellow Christians and lost souls. Do not burden or curse God's poor who struggle to feed and shelter their family by declaring that they are under a curse for not paying tithes. Although there is no set percentage for Christians to give, all should give sacrificially or lower your standards of living in order to further the reach of the Gospel. That is the message of the gospel and you cannot force tithe into it under any guise. I can list and take you on the concept of tithe and why it is completely 1) Irrelevant, 2) Misunderstood, 3) Taught in a web of lies today 4) A teaching which makes the grace and truth personified in Christ of no effect - under the following headings: 1. Christian Giving Principles: New Covenant Giving Principles are Superior 2. Defining Tithe: In God’s Word the Holy Tithe was Always Only Food from Inside Israel! 3. Money was an Essential but Non-Tithed Item. 4. Abram’s Tithe to Melchizedek Reflected the Law of the Land and never the law of God. 5. No Minimum Principle: Tithing was not a Minimum Requirement from All Israelites. 6. Levite Assistants: First-Tithes were Received by Servants to the Priests. 7. Holy And Most Holy: It is Holy to the LORD Does Not Make Tithing an Eternal Moral Principle 8. Four Tithes: There are Four Different Tithes Described in the Bible (Imagine that) We can discuss this and I can willingly give you references to great sites where you can have your understanding refreshed on this concept. Fundamentally, the concept of Grace and Truth, Sin, and The Law needs be revisited as today's pastors are leavened with the leaven of the Pharisees whose major preoccupation is living the law. My brother, the Law was what Christ came to remove. Do not bring it back into Christendom only to be feeling condemned the month ou are unable to pay some fathom tithes that has since been abolished with in Christ's death. Gracias! 1 Like |

Religion / Re: 10 Basis For Scripture Interpretation by cgift(m): 7:18pm On Feb 29, 2012 |
Hi AIO, Some of your points caught my attention and would like to respond thus in imitating a discussion. I only hope i wont be derailing the thread but i believe it is still a part of the topic of discourse which is Basic Interpretation Rules For The Bible. 1. You had said the word "them" introduced did not do justice to that passage. I could not agree less though I had always read that scripture also to mean that the them referred to the two sexes built into Adam at creation. Your comments gives some clarity to it in some way in the school of thought that man was created as an hermaphrodite originally. That then presupposes that man was supposed to produce his kind all alone without any intimacy whatsoever as i presume eggs will be produced and fertilized in the same "body" and at maturity (he/she) it delivers. However, the need to quell the loneliness problem resulted in that spiritual operation leading to the male systems being separated from that of the female. 2. Flowing from the above, you said man was created in the image of God (Elohim); Male and Female implying that Elohim is Androgynous. I beg to differ on this point and I put forward my reasons. Like was suggested in one of the basics listed by the poster, that we should allow scriptures to interpret scriptures else we run the risk of misinterpretation and sometimes absolute heresies, let us see the meaning other scriptures tend to give to this view of yours. Col. 1:15; New International Version He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. Jesus Christ is being referred to in the text quoted above in Col. 1:15 and you will agree with me suggests nothing about his physical structure. Image talks mainly about Resemblance in certain qualities such as love, morality, etc. To further buttress this point of mine, let us look at the following: In 2 Cor. 3:18; American King James Version (But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the LORD). If we are already in God’s image (as depicted by pour physical frame), what further Image are we still changing into according to this verse? This no doubt IMHO reveals that the image being discussed in Genesis has nothing to do with how our physical frames are structured. The next question you might ask is how then does he perform all functions our organs perform as in the fact that He sees, ears, moves, feels (does He ?), etc.? Our organs that perform these functions are only channels or tools to carry them out and may not necessarily mean that he has lobes, lips, eyeballs, etc like us. Hope you feel me? Thinking that Elohim carries the same body structure like we mortals is IMHO a grave error as nowhere does the scriptures states so clearly. It is almost tantamount to saying The Elohim then has both external male and female reproductive organs. I do not subscribe to that line of thought since Jesus had said there are no marriages in heaven and we shall all be like angels. It further underscores the point that the image and Likeness does not relate to our physical frames but our build physically can help us understand how God can relate to us. I stand to be corrected. |

Religion, when used positively, which is the way it should be, develops rather than inhibits growth and development! There is no gainsaying that fact people! So, African states are in shit , not because they are religious; you can clearly attribute it to some other factors! Lets see how frosbel do justice to those other factors. Thank you. |
Religion / Re: Why Africans Are Religious by cgift(m): 5:32pm On Sep 19, 2011 |
dayotheone: People are just looking for ways of running away from the truth and they know it deep down within that they can only deceive themselves and not those who understand what religion should be. Man has only given religion a wrong name unfortunately and painted it real bad. Man is not only physical. What you see is not all that there is to life and you cannot dispute that! If man is not only physical, there exists a metaphysical state of man. Its not today the first time, neither will it be the last that God has confounded the wisdom of the wise even in their so called professions. Take Doctors for example, the ones that have seen things in their little life will tell you that though they don’t believe in it, there has to be some higher powers that confounds them when their own wisdom and expertise falls short. You guys have not watched a magician in real life have you? If you have you will not be saying things like Religion is this or that. If you cannot explain how things happen with your natural mind, then you must conclude that it is ethereal or celestial. To those who are very aware of who they are, man is able to reach into his true self which is made after the likeness of God and work out the realities of God in his daily life. I am an advocate of using religion the right way. No doubt erudite scholars, and scientists, both Muslim and Christians have contributed in no small measure to the inventions and betterment of the world. Christianity for instance preaches love, peace, brotherliness, unity, faith, hope, longsuffering, joy, etc as the fruits of the Spirit; imagine if everyone follows this, how would the world be today? If people can walk together and agree on the above cardinals of unity, tell me how they won’t make the world a better place. It is only because the practitioners have perverted / misinterpreted parts of their religious texts to suit their inordinate ambitions that has given religion a bad name. Conclusion: Religion is not bad in itself, in actual fact, it is the way to go only if the elements of unity in all of the various religions are used rightly but unfortunately the world (not only Africans) has used it for the wrong reasons. |
