notobs: Those countries did not build all those roads in 8 or 10 yrs! it took time sometimes centuries to get to where they are, for now we are talking about what a state can achieve within it administrative life cycle of 4 or 8 yrs. Concentrating on roads alone is not enough. and by the way tourism does not need to be like vegas type of europe or carrebiean type tourism, It must start from attracting Nigerian tourist who dont have the european taste or expectations. The Calabar carnival and argungu fishing festivals are examples of successful Nigerian tourism events that brings a lot of people to town for the events and generate money for the cities and private business etc.
Sir, I am typically reading your posts to hear intelligent ways you would improve the state revenue base in order to create enough wealth for the type of all round massive development you have advocated.
However, all your posts center on HOW to SPEND the meager allocation and nothing on how to GENERATE which is where we need your expertise. Well, SPENDING money is the easy part. Even a fool can spend a billion dollars in 2 minutes. The real ingenuity is in MAKING money.
spyder880: In a nutshell, where will the new administration get the funding to perform this magic you advocate? Please suggest for all to learn. I hate thinking backwards, I always think ahead.
For once, stop attacking people and make useful suggestions, let's take it you are the new governor, what will you do differently?
You have the floor, we are listening.
Oga Spyder, You know he won't answer that question about what he would do with N90 billion naira budget if he were the governor. Typically, he would answer that he would build skyscrapers in ogui, build international airport the size of JFK New York, and build hospitals the size of Gwagwalada hospital in every village.
The truth is that we all want Enugu to resemble Atlanta or Houston, but WHERE IS THE MONEY?? That is simply why Chime has impressed many realists in this forum that understand the handicap of funding to development. Chime's achievements should be compared to Ekiti,Ebonyi or Nassarawa that have similar annual budgets and not to Lagos Akwa Ibom or Kano with budgets 5 times bigger than Enugu. I only give Chime knocks when he misses out on the opportunity to expand the states internal revenue base by not vigorously pursuing tourism and Agro-industrial development Day dreamers will often-always wonder why we have not become like Switzerland or Japan on the budget of $500 million dollars for a state with a population of 4 million.
ucheokpara100: i expected to come here start serving whites get paid convert my money to nigerian currency and be rich, when i was passing through these things i wrote here i regreted coming here but after i sold my business and bought the one iam managing here now iam happy i came here, the life iam living now is far betta than my life in nigeria. iam considered one among lucky people here. sory for saying this the business i sold i nigeria was selling N36K daily with generator stress, fuel traffic, power, bad road etc, the one have here no such stress and i sell equivalent N83k daily.
For 83 k from 36k in Naija, you haven't made any progress. In Nigeria, you would have so many opportunities to grow, not to talk about being close to family and friends. In SA, their people will make sure you don't progress, and if you stubbornly attempt to grow, they will organize themselves into xenophobia mobs to tear you down.
The only justifiable reason to leave ones country is WAR. Naija government should make Nigeria attractive to our youths. So that they stop wasting their lives and talents in elusive foreign lands.
The notobs guy-man that has been trying to derail the thread by asking redundant questions about what Chime completed should desist. I guess the Zik ave. and the twin bridges, Agbani road dualized, Airport road dualized, our secretariat, resurfacing of all city roads etc etc were all there in 2007. Chime was instrumental in bringing a massive mall to Enugu as the second site in Nigeria after Lagos!!! Most SE &SS governors in 2008 simply did not know there was such a thing in the country. ONLY Akpabio and Kwankwaso comes close to Chime in the transformation he spearheaded. Of course Kano and Akwa Ibom had excess funds to do it, which Enugu did not. Luckily this thread captures a few of those projects, thus you should search them for yourself if you are truly serious to learn.
Chime should have completed the International conference center and the hotel attached to it. This could have brought more conference tourism into the state. I also think that Chime has not properly leveraged on AIIA, Enugu to bring more tourists into the state by supporting cultural festivals, parades and developing tourist sites. I hope the incoming government will take tourism seriously and try to market Enugu as a holiday destination to Newly married Nigerian couples as well as international tourists. Also, the Enugu Free Trade Industrial zone was not given the needed government impetus to take off.
DEFINITELY, the development of world class housing estates around the city is a welcome thing. Also, the re-planning of the city to make all parts totally accessible with good roads is a great idea. Enugu today is undoubtedly one of the few Nigerian cities that can be said to be decent up to international standard. Many Nigerian state governors have NO CLUE how to build decent cities. They allow unplanned shoddy houses to spring up everywhere and call it "development".That Enugu has managed to compete in decency with Abuja,Kano or Lagos in spite of having one of the tiniest state budgets in Nigeria is a great testimony to Chime's visionary and sterling leadership.
One of the worst human vices is being a JUDAS. Imagine if we didn't have Yorubas in Nigeria? Nigeria would be more or less like Ghana which multi ethnic yet peaceful
Little by little we are being forced into sharia under the elusive changii! Ride on General! You didn't need suicide bombers like Shekau to Islamize Nigeria.
What a shame. The mole flying that helicopter didn't even take a single shot at the terrorists! Tomorrow, they will call themselves "soldiers" defending Nigeria. It is only God that has continued to save Nigeria from Boko haram and their accomplices in our armed forces.
Useless OBJ concubines. So what happened to the $16 billion dollars meant for Independent power plants that suddenly disappeared? How did OBJ suddenly get almost N2 billion naira to build a library and even more funds to float his own private university? How did OBJ suddenly find billions of naira to transform Otta farms which was completely decrepit and bankrupt before he became President of Nigeria?
IGBOSON2: They should mark out the parking lot nicely....not in a crude and hurried fashion! And also plant trees to give the area a lush green ambience! No open gutters should be allowed!
I trust my brothers in making sure only the finest quality is achieved. You and crane never miss out on the flower and environmental piece. Daalu rinne!
Until the civil war breaks out from intolerance and party-party clannishness. Unless Buhari rises against bigotry and pettiness, he is destined to fail or at best experience the sort of turbulence Abacha faced from the resolve of people to fight for their right to be equal citizens in their own country.
Cuche: SOMETHING MOST OF YOU DON'T KNOW Obiano will not Patronize IVM as long as the clandestine arrangements entered into by the former Governor Mr Peter Obi persisted. Obiano is so displeased with those criminal, wicked and devilish greed of a Governor forcing private business to allot him stakes personally (assuming Obi negotiated the part ownership, say the 30% stakes for the State, it would have been different) Obi entered into many arrangements like that in return for government patronage or assistance in provision of basic infrastructure around the industries. So he was using the Government to further his psychotic unquenchable thirst for money and shares. In a particular thread on this forum, in 2013, I said Innoson should be careful in his romance with Obi Obiano has been fully briefed and will have none of that. And that forms part of the problems he is having with Mr Peter Obi. @ BuddaMonk, I agree with you about Obiano being flamboyant, that is his nature. I also agree and has said it on this forum that Mr Peter Obi is not Vindictive because despite the hate by some sections of the State he still carried on his substandard, high cost road construction across the State.
Firstly, Mr. Innocent Chukwuma is an accomplished resourceful entrepreneur who started life as a motorcycle trader. We all know how Obasanjo confiscated his containers carrying industrial equipment when he wanted to establish a vehicle manufacturing plant. He was not deterred by that and still went ahead to buy more industrial equipment and establish his dream manufacturing outfit. This all happened before 2006 when Peter Obi was finally allowed to assume his mandate by the courts. Therefore, saying INNOSON is owned by Peter Obi couldn't be farther from the truth. Yes, peter Obi patronized INNOSON, which i still think every Igbo person should do.
Peter Obi's defection from APGA has been roundly condemned by me. i also unequivocally condemn his skirmishes with Obiano, whom he played a pivotal role in ensuring he became governor. i think Peter Obi should lie low and allow Obiano develop Anambra the way he sees fit. Trying to distract him over senseless squabbles will only rubbish Obi's achievements and accolade for helping Anambra find a worthy successor.
Kingsley1000: ...THis is the only sane and honest man in this thread, very deplomatic and intelligent..more orijin to your stomach sire...ANAMBRA STATE HAS BEEN VERY UNLUCKY IN GOVERNANCE,and our people are the prime cause of this,we want stomach infrastruture more than competent leaders, have this notion"make we chop now becos when they enter,we mightn't get anything"...AND WE're TOO SENTIMENTAL,THATS WHY NGIGE LOST THE SENATE PRESIDENTIAL SLOT..OUR PEOPLE ARE TOO FOOLISH,YOU NOTICE THAT BY THE ATTITUDE,SYCOPHANCY AND SENTIMENT(apga party ndigbo)they exhibit here..i weep for my state, wish OUR PEOPLE COULD TAP SOME IOTA OF POLITICAL SENSE FROM ENUGU AND IMO STATE PEOPLE...WE HATE APC TO BONE,EVEN IF JESUS is under apc,he will fail in anambra..quite pathetic
Please, you and who is OUR PEOPLE? Abeg, I no be Yoruba oo!
Wow, It's been long i visited NL. What's all this talk about Obiano making my brothers and sisters quarrel? I think constructive criticism should be encouraged and appreciated. But for criticism to be constructive, you must mention the incident, the circumstance and the negative impact of that incident that made you conclude the behavior was worth condemnation. Accusing Obiano of being spiteful and vindictive without mentioning even one spiteful incident or vindictive statement is simply spurious to put it kindly.
BTW, you people know that i am a staunch Peter Obi supporter. Check my previous posts.
Noviolence2015: It is such a shame how far APC is ready to go to deceive Nigerians about the health status of Buhari. The attached picture is supposed Buhari's interview in London.
Unfortunately, the room in London where the interview held has the finger print and striking similarity with rooms in Transcorp Hilton Abuja. The chairs, tables and paintings all point to Abuja Transcorp Hilton signature room decoration.
See pics below. The first picture is #buharifakelondoninterview and the latter is #transcorphiltonabuja. Look at the center tables for starters.
So why is the APC so eager to hide Buhari's real reason for going to London Why is the APC lying about Buhari's activities in London?
Buhari should not make the mistake Yar' Adua made by hiding his health status when it was obvious to all Nigerians.
Buhari should take care of himself and see the conspiracy going on around him. Go and get a good medical attention and forget all the politics. If our dear Yar'Adua had retired and got very good medical attention early in his ailment, he would have been alive today.
Another stupid abokii thread. If GEJ built 127 special schools for you, you will complain. If he does not, you will complain.
BTW, can any aboki tell me what the litany of northern Heads of States did for Niger Delta fishermen children?
GEJ is the only TRUE Nigerian President that had not used his powers to unfairly develop his village unlike typical northern Presidents.
Minna was like Otuoke before Babangida became Head of State. Then he used Julius Berger to convert Minna into another Abuja, while key cities in Nigeria like Ibadan,Onitsha or Warri were allowed to rot. Abacha did the same thing in Kano.
The north seeks power not to develop Nigeria and make it a better place, but to corner all the national resources for their own village alone.
Okimski: The National Universities Commission (NUC) has disclosed that, contrary to claims in some quarters, any certificate obtained from the Kaduna Satellite Campus of the Ambrose Alli University is fraudulent and a scam. Deputy Director Press of the NUC, Ibrahim Yakassai disclosed, this to The Nigerian Times when our reporter called to confirm the status of the institution and certificates earned from it. He said: “It is fraudulent and a scam. There is no such thing like Ambrose Alli University, Kaduna Study Center. The NUC is not aware of such.” The Nigerian Times recalls that the Sunday Trust Newspaper in the story, ‘Now, Hajiya Aisha Buhari steps out’, published January 18, 2015 had reported that the beautiful wife of General Muhammadu Buhari, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), had bagged a Bachelor of Arts degree from the Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma (Kaduna satellite campus). She later proceeded, based on the same degree, to obtain a Master’s degree in International Affairs and Strategic Studies from the Nigerian Defence Academy, Kaduna. The NUC in a directive in 2001, under former Executive Secretary Peter Okebukola to all Vice-Chancellors, had directed all university satellite campuses to be shut down. While most Universities complied, few others were adamant, leading to another directive by the present Executive Secretary Professor Julius Okojie, to re-affirm the initial directive that all universities in the country running external campuses (satellite campuses) be shut down. A satellite campus, according to the NUC guidelines on which basis the illegal ones were closed down, “must not be more than 200 kilometres from the main campus,” “must not be located in a state outside the state in which the main campus is located,” “must have staff of the satellite campus directly or indirectly appointed by the main campus in line with laid down academic standards.” According to Sunday Trust, Mrs. Buhari enrolled in the undergraduate programme of the Ambrose Alli University and received lectures at its Leventis Building satellite campus, Kaduna. The Newspaper also reported that she holds a National Certificate in Education (NCE) from the National Teachers Institute (NTI) alongside a Diploma in Beauty Therapy at the Carlton Institute of Beauty Therapy, Windsor, in the United Kingdom and a certificate course from the French Beauty School, Esthetique Academie Dubai. She is a member of the United Kingdom’s Vocational Training and Charitable Trust and the International Health and Beauty Council. Speaking to The Nigerian Times, a former coordinator of one the satellite campuses of the university who asked to be anonymous, said while some campuses were able to insert records of some students of the satellite campuses into the general students’ records at the main campus, others were just issued certificates without recourse to the parent school. He said while the certificates of those whose records where successfully entered into the school’s main record could claim some level of validity, the others remain invalid. He said: “The campuses started in 1998 and were all officially closed in 2002. “Some of the campuses at the earlier stages would get someone from the main campus in Ekpoma to invigilate the examinations and under some arrangements would then register the students’ particulars in the record of the university. After this, those certificates got a value of validity. “However, after sometime some centers started issuing certificates to their students in the name of the parent university without any recourse to record keeping and so when employers or schools of post graduate studies contacted Ekpoma for verification, the records of most of them were not found. These developments finally led to the NUC’s hammer on those centers.” Every effort to get responses from the Registrar of the University, Mr. Ojo Maliki and Public Relations Officer of the university, proved abortive. While mails where not responded to, calls from our reporter were treated with rude and evasive responses. A University officer, who craved anonymity, told this newspaper that Edo being an APC state, the authorities are extremely careful not to get caught in Nigeria’s fractious political party rivalries.

Buhari did not show up for the London town hall meeting he was scheduled to address today. His wife and daughter showed up in order to save face.
So where is Buhari? He was not on the list of invitees to speak at Chatham house.
APC should come clean about Buhari's health and save Nigeria the looming catastrophe.
NgeneUkwenu: That man is just an illiterate! He said, we should celebrate jonathan for commissioning the design of 2nd Niger Bridge for them after six years because no President before him. was able to do that.
He also said there was no International Airport anyway in Nigeria, until jonathan came to power.
He also said under jonathan, the fuel price came down, according to him, it is unprecedented in the history of the country.
Many other stupid and meaningless jingles!
Typical Janjaweeed liar. He never said any of your lies
Just like some selfish politicians hid the fact that Late Yar' Adua had kidney illness from Nigerians.Even after he abruptly had to visit Germany secretly during the election campaign season. Another Yar'Adua intrigues has started again.
God save Nigeria from calamities plotted by these selfish politicians.
