Politics › Re: Breaking News Ameachi And His Assembly Men Apply For Asylum From Britain by ChimaAdeoye: 3:18am On Sep 30, 2013
Of course, Amaechi and his co-looters have stolen enough from the people to buy the choicest property in London and New York. No one investigates how they make the stupendous wealth to buy these properties.

Afterall, Ibori was found innocent of any corrupt practices in Nigeria by our shameless judiciary. What else could Amaechi and his co-looters have done with $20 billion dollars stolen from the hapless citizens of Rivers State?

cjrane: Oya,
Amaechi is my brother, but he is a thief!
Those people telling us he had done Woji to Elelenwo roads need to really stop this shameful act of supporting evil!

If a Major road inside Port Harcourt still looks like this after 6 years, imagine how the roads in Ogoni,Ahaoda, Ndoni and other places look!
Yet, Amaechi, Fashola and Akpabio are in the same class of Governors handling up to N400 Billion Naira every year?
Amaechi must be jailed by the EFCC not only for stealing, but for heartless wickedness to our people !

I used to be so mad at Gov. Uduaghan for not doing enough for Delta. But if you look at what Uduaghan has done just on roads in only Warri since 2007,it more than surpasses what Amaechi has done in Port Harcourt roads within the same period !

Yet Uduaghan is also developing Asaba, Agbor, Sapele and Oghara as other cities in Delta State with less budget than Amaechi posts! Amaechi has ONLY Port Harcourt to develop and make a world class city, yet Port Harcourt still looks the way it does. Now i truly and seriously wonder where all the Rivers State money have gone since 2007 ?

publisher: Fellow Nairalanders,

Yesterdays breaking news that Boko Haram's leader Shekau was still alive via a new video has turned me into a Youtube scavenger.
I have checked everywhere online but i haven't seen any video.

The closest i saw was a still video showing his picture with an audio message in the background. Please i want to believe that this is not the video BBC hausa service was talking about.

Anyone with links to the authentic video?
Shekau is dead!
The Boko haram remnants are simply playing propaganda.
If the guy is alive, he would have made 10 videos of himself by now. grin
Bros,

You have completely missed the point. You shouldn't compare Abuja, Lagos or Port Harcourt to Kigali. These cities are obviously located in oil rich Nigeria and have been key cities for a long time. On the other hand, Kigali is located in landlocked , tiny and poor Rwanda but have built shining cities and buildings because of focused leadership.

The comparison here is to quantify in real terms what Rwanda has achieved with 50% of the money available to a Nigerian Governor Chibuike Amaechi. To show that Amaechi's political activism and constant bikering with everyone has continued to distract him from developing his state, inspite of the huge resources at his disposal.

Many of the other SW governors and even Roachas of Imo have managed to combine politics with the development work they were voted in office to do. Amaechi has forgotten the number one reason for voting him into office is to deliver dividends of democracy to Rivers State and not to be holding press conferences in London and New York everyday.
!
Exactly the point!
We have 3 state in Nigeria whose budget is more than N450 Billion naira (that is almost double Rwanda's budget!)
They are

1. Rivers State
2. Lagos State
3. Akwa Ibom State

Lagos and Akwa Ibom have featured prominently everyday here and even competed on mega projects and dividends of democracy! As their Governors Fashola and Akpabio continue to transform those States with the funds at their disposal.

Abagworo: Compare Rwanda to Nigeria and not to Rivers State. The camouflage is funny. Unless you are saying Rivers State is autonomous or independent from Nigeria. Compare Rwandan President to Nigerian President and not to a Governor.

The Provinces of Rwanda, called intara, are further divided into districts (akarere) and municipalities (umujyi). Prior to January 1, 2006, Rwanda was composed of twelve provinces; however, the Rwandan Government decided to establish new provinces in an attempt to address issues that arose from the Rwandan Genocide of 1994. The first goal was to decentralise power, since it was felt Rwanda's centralised governing system was a contributing factor in aiding the genocide. Second, the new provinces are more multiethnic than the previous twelve, helping to weaken ethnic divisions. Finally, the new provinces will not have the associations the previous twelve did with events from the genocide.

Until 2002, the provinces were called prefectures .
Your silly posts exposes how uneducated you are. It is even more obvious you know nothing about statistics or geography.
Nigeria is about 200 times bigger than Rwanda! So how can you compare them? Just like India is 17 times bigger than Nigeria.

Just so that you will learn something today from nairaland instead of wasting your time arguing blindly, i will teach you how to make comparisons. When you want to compare say Nigeria to India or China that are much larger than Nigeria, you will choose a part of those large countries with similar demographics (that means population), income (Budget) and perhaps reasonably comparable land mass.

Therefore, it will make sense to compare Nigeria not to India, but a state in India eg Uttar Pradesh with a population of 178,million people and area of 240,928 km2. Conversely, in order to meaningfully compare Rwanda to Nigeria, you have to compare it to a Nigerian state with about the same income, landmass etc. That is how to meaningfully compare a very small country to a much bigger one so that you have less bias and wide variations introduced into your comparison.

Symphony007: Why has'nt op mentioned the fact that between 2001 and 2010: rwanda recieved between 900 million to 1 billion dollars as aid money from the international community, is that up to rivers state budget for 50 years or even more......how much aid money has rivers state recieved from the international community.

By the time i am through with you,op. You will regret ever using this comparison.
Out of the $2 billion annual budget of Rwanda, more than 40% is donated! Yet, they are able to achieve much more with slightly above half of what Amechi has. I think you should cover your face in shame for defending the indefensible.

...and Amechi isn't the only one guilty of this shameful mindless corruption and looting of Nigeria. But it does not excuse the fact that he is guilty of it !
You guys must stop supporting evil. let us call these criminals out,so that they know we are aware of their lackluster performance.

Even if Rwanda budget $2.2 billion as you claimed instead of $1.6 billion, their $2.2 billion dollars converted into Naira is just about N350 billion naira.
Rivers State budget of N490.5 billion naira still dwarf Rwanda budget by a whopping N140 billion naira! Which is the size of the budget for another major state like Imo or Benue!

Yet Rwanda has many engagements around the world to fund, they have a Police force to equip and fund etc and Kigali has added more new buildings, roads, hospital, remodelled and modernized it's international airport, brand new university, huge export oriented free trade zone, building a brand new railway from Butare to Kigali, compared to our Rivers State that has done what with the more money and less responsibility it has? So what is really your point?

Amaech has indeed disgraced us and wasted our high hopes.
I had mentioned PH as a city to compare Cape Town,Durban, Bloemfontein,Pretoria or Port Elizabeth and a Ghanian in the forum posted this video of Port Harcourt and i became speechless and un-followed that discussion. The sad thing was that the video was shot on Port harcourt best intra-city road Ikwerre road. So i couldn't even say it was a bad part of town that was showed to discredit Nigeria.

I knew immediately that Amaechi has killed us!

HappyJoe: According to the PW Group Website a taxi way is being constructed as part of the runway expansion project: http://www.pwlimited.com/Projects.aspx?PID=86

I think it will lead to the new international terminal building

Please when last where you at Enugu?
Yes, warri pikin is right. Enugu does not have a taxiway. If you look at the google map of Enugu airport and compare it to to other international airports in Nigeria eg, PH Kano Kaduna Abuja or Lagos international airports, only Enugu does not have a taxiway to both ends of its runway.

What the company did was to connect the new terminal building to the old domestic terminal which is the 1.2 km they are referring to as taxiway! For a plane to takeoff at Enugu, it must first taxi on the runway and then turn around when it reached the end, before it can takeoff. A true taxiway is meant to be connected to at least one END of the runway. So that a plane about to takeoff rides on the taxiway and enter the runway at the end where the taxiway ends. In that way, a plane can wait on the taxiway while another airplane is landing or taking off and enters the runway only when it is his turn to take off.

Thus, that construction company should be mandated to complete the taxiway properly to reach at least one end of the runway. Or both ends of the runway as is standard with an average Nigerian international airport.

God bless Igbo land cool
Bros,
You know, i have read all the bashings here and found that Chino didn't start this problem. He probably felt the need to defend his state from unprovoked calumny from "other" fellow igbo.Chino might really not be the trouble. We must learn to accept our fellow Igbo and really stop ganging up against Anambra people.Exactly the type of unreasonable gang up against Nigerians by "fellow" Africans, yet Nigeria is the first to donate to their causes and volunteer troops to help keep peace in their war-torn lands. I have often marvelled why no yoruba ever bad mouths Lagos, yet they have been deported back to Osun from Lagos!

Yet, Anambra that has made it obvious that every Igbo is welcome to feel at home and resisted the clamor to sack Abians working in Anambra schools and university after Orji sacked their citizens is the one constantly barraged by other Igbo?
It is really sad to see fellow Igbo people gang up against Anambra people for some perceived complex or phobia which is far from reality.I do think it has something to do with jealousy.

Did it even occur to anyone here that Princess Stella Odua is from Anambra, yet she put in all her reputation and even the risk of losing her job to counter all those who had secretly frustrated the Enugu Intl. from taking off? If that airport had been in Awka, i suspect most of our "fellow" Igbos here will even join ofenmanu people to frustrate it in their myopic thinking that they are helping to under develop Anambra! Without knowing they are actually shooting themselves in the leg.

Even though Nigeria's oil fields are located well outside their land, a major Nigerian tribe, which i have privilege of marrying into have offered everyone who spoke the language free education and have helped themselves to dominate the economy and Nigeria's oil industry purely by employing only their brothers and sisters. No matter how much others have barked or protested, they have brushed aside the criticism and continued unperturbed to be their own brothers' keepers. The Igbo must become wise or perish in it's pettiness and divisive foolish individualism. We must begin to learn how to become our brother's keeper and complement each others talent rather than constitute a stumbling block. Or we shall surely perish together for our foolishness under our persecutors wicked design, by constantly making ourselves willing tools in implementing their wicked design against the prosperity of Igbo in Nigeria.

All the President must do is insist on a free and fair election.
On no account must there be any sort of rigging and he will win landslide. Those e warriors and the few Abuja politicians opposing him try to make their narrow opinion appear as though it is the general opinion. Truth be said, President Jonathan is very popular and there aren't good alternatives to him. Look at the people who want to be President
Buhari, Tinubu,Atiku, Bisi Akande,Nasir El-rufai etc. They are all corrupt former rulers wishing to line their pockets more.
If the likes of Nuhu Ribadu were seriously contesting, then there could be a credible alternative to GEJ to consider.

It is such a shame that Gov. Theordore Orji have allowed it to degenerate to this appalling condition. In better societies, this type of road is enough grounds for impeachment of the Governor! But this is Nigeria, so after we have finished expressing our dismay, the same situation will persist!
