Noilers reach maturity between 3-4 months, while Broilers reach maturity between 2-3 months.
So it seems that Emmaechile's noilers will not be ready for Xmas?

How much is the price of Noilers, Broilers and Old layers?
FamilyIs There Anything Wrong With Buying Family Land? by chrisj2(op): 10:02pm On Nov 10, 2016
What I mean is: is there any superstition around buying land from one's own family estate rather than the land going to a stranger?

This is doing my head in... Land is being sold to speculators when the land could be kept within the family and as a big unit...

What do people think?
AgricultureRe: My Noiler Farm Experience (hybrid Of Broiler + Cockerel) by chrisj2(m): 9:50pm On Nov 10, 2016
Can I just ask why the heavy cocktail of medicines and supplements? If these Noilers are supposed to be closer to free range types, surely they should be able to survive without all the drugs? (I know they are kept indoors and that does not help...).

They cost you #80 each and you will raise them for about 12-16 weeks or more... So how much do you expect to sell one unit (noiler) to break even? And more importantly do you have a selling price in mind already?

Nice. These are Broilers, right?
These birds look really healthy and clean - loving the amount of space they have to roam around; freer ranging...

How much will these sell for at maturity - in 6 weeks or so time?
AgricultureRe: My Organic Poultry Project (broilers) by chrisj2(m): 9:27pm On Nov 10, 2016
EMMAACHILE:
There is a breed called noilers. It matures in 10-16 weeks maximum and can reach weight of over 4kg. its best suited for free range.
Thanks! In fact I was wondering what Noilers and had to google it and got the answer via Nairaland...

It seems that Noilers is more or less what I had in mind - although the Noilers do not have to be cockerels; just a cross between our traditional chickens that simply forage around and a kept breed like broilers.

It is a project that I will like to undertake but I think they probably will take longer to mature and one will not more space to rare them. But it is the quality of the meat that I am most concerned with and whether people will be ready to pay a higher price for smaller birds but tougher meat.

How long do Noilers take to mature compared to Broilers?

AgricultureRe: My Organic Poultry Project (broilers) by chrisj2(m): 6:19pm On Nov 10, 2016
I like the idea of organic Broilers... I will not expect organically raised broilers to be as big or developed than cooped up and well fed (commercial feed) broilers.

Anyway, will there be market for a cross between broilers and free range chickens - raised organically and with lots of roaming room. I know this will be expensive but the chicken will be tastier. What do we think?
RomanceRe: Y Do Guys Conclude Dat A Girl Who Gave Him A Night Stand Is Not Morally Sound? by chrisj2(m): 11:12am On Nov 08, 2016
Morally sound or not does not matter... If she is real hot and you had a good time and then she blanks you or not return your calls then you will find that you are the one chasing her afterwards.

A one-night stand might just be a matter of circumstance and timing and passion... It reflects on both parties - when the star align then you can both go with the flow. However, if a girl makes a habit of jumping into bed on first dates or meets especially within the same social circle or within a small area and she gets know for it then her morals will be called into question. The same should go for the blokes but hey, men are cheap anyways!
PoliticsRe: We Were Confronted With Proof Of Evidence Against Suspended Judges- CJN by chrisj2(m): 10:14am On Nov 08, 2016
“A common thread that runs through all Judiciaries is that judicial officers are traditionally accorded the highest dignity and respect by all.

This statement is indeed necessary on the surface of everything because we have to have confidence in the judiciary and a wholesome and un-corrupted judiciary underpins every other organs of a democracy...

However, the problem is that every single judge or member of the judiciary and also our legislators cannot be trusted and cannot be automatically given respect and dignity when they are no better than criminals.

The NBA and CJN should have waited for evidence before trying to use judicial immunity and what is now impunity to a lot of people... Every time these sort of things happen the traditional respect and dignity is eroded; yes, we all lose but then people caught should be made example because they are enemies of the state and worse than ordinary criminals.

They are all tainted now by association - look before you leap!

One of the problem with our system is that the information is not clear and not comprehensive to cover all situations, Moreover, you have 3 separate payments to make and several different website to visit and after all that, you are still expected to print everything out (despite the contractor OIS services advertising you do not have to print form) and then you have the absurdity of buying postal order - in this day and age huh

themodernman:
Does one still need a guarantor to RENEW one's passport?
I really do not know precisely what it entails to renew a Nigerian passport talk less of a 'lost' Nigerian passport. All I know is that they want you to report it to the Police, probably going to get some sworn affidavit of some sort, then probably provide them with details of lost passport and where and when and how etc. Then you have the rest of the process of renewing a passport.

I do not understand why one needs anything other than a certified and signed passport photographs to renew a passporthuh All the details of the original passport should still be on the system (just like the BVN ones) and all they need is to update the photographs which must be signed by a verifiable 'professional or clergy'. If there are other changes like addresses and marital status, titles and what else then that should be in the application form.

Like I said, Nja has lots of money and lot of advice and access to sophisticated ways of doing things including experts from other countries but we prefer the ignorant and most difficult way for our people; and more expensive way too - they have to have there bribes otherwise why 5 years passports?

* I got the UK renewal in less than 2 weeks and did not have to leave home - all online except sending the photos and old passport which actually did not even need signing by anyone (just one passport photo) and I was informed by text throughout the process. In fact they texted me to inform that my passport had 3 months left - so they encouraged me to renew.

** Is this possible in Nja - yes of course, I remember sitting next to an oyinbo man on flight who was a consultant on a big IT project in Nja... - All the resources are there already and they should know what to do...

Are you saying that I should tell the immigration officer that I lost my passport so that dey can do a new one for me
I am same situation as yourself but I am in the UK and the process is just very hard especially for folks that do not live in London or have plenty of time to waste...

The process of renewal of a lost passport is far more difficult than getting a new one - reporting to the Police in the UK means nothing as they do not link with the Nigerian system and they are really not that bothered with other passports. Moreover, I think I actually lost mine at MMA on the very first time that I used the passport - it was probably stolen during the palaver of the being checked by immigration and other hangers-on or was pinched (pick-pocketed) on my way to the car park by those annoying folks that follow you around for currency exchanges and/or help with luggage. It might even have been retained by one of the checkers - MMA hassle! Passport now expired anyway!

Anyway, the Nigerian Embassy ask for so many things that I will not be able to supply easily - so not worth getting another passport in the UK. I will travel with a VISA and renew passport in Nigeria - more expensive but hey ho; will try to make the money back by working and not wasting it on travelling to London and missing work/pay...

* Finally back to your situation: I do not think it is wise to apply for a new passport as a First Time applicant without telling them about the lost passport... The system should find out anyway but then this is the Nigerian system where an adult passport expires after just 5 years and you have to go back do more biometrics - hello! The biometrics do not change - so why are we just being so ignorant in Nigeria?

I think the poster is clear - The government has to approve the private universities which is the same as going along with the idea of University expansion to the detriment of providing people with real skills that will get them jobs. Nothing to say that these private universities might not offer vocational course but then they do not need to be universities to do that - do they?

What is the point of degrees with no jobs?
EducationRe: FG Approves 8 New Universities Across Nigeria by chrisj2(m): 6:57pm On Nov 02, 2016
Bring back Polytechnics and Higher Education Colleges that offers vocational courses and skill-based course that can lead straight into jobs or trainee-ship or even Higher Level Apprenticeship. No more Yeye Universities!

Even the UK has not benefited from turning all their polytechnics into universities and trying to encourage most people in higher education to go to universities to get degrees...

* We have a reasonably successful Private University close to my area of Origin; perhaps there is also one from RCCG but another church is trying to start a university - why the hell! It would be far better to have a college of agriculture and/or technology or just a 6th form with adult or post 18 vocational qualifications in IT, Languages, Crafts, Woodwork, Textiles or basic constructions certificates.
AgricultureCrop Calendar??? Lets Start A Comprehensive One Here by chrisj2(op): 9:56am On Oct 30, 2016
Can we have some enlightenment from Crop practitioners, Agronomists, Agric students and Subsistence/small Farmers and others contributions on this topic?

I think it might be useful to have a comprehensive calendar of when to grow and when to harvest most popular crops, vegetables and fruits in Nigeria.

* Can we try to distinguish between North and South and Mid Regions, Thanks.

I will start off with one I found online - but this is more like an IITA (USDA) thing - featuring those crops they do big research and development on...

If it's not in Ogun state, where else would it be. The headquarters of diabolical practice. The unfortunate thing is that police and politicians patronize the trade very often.
It is all in the name... Pity!

The last time I had a long walk all around my village (in Ogun state), my grandma (bless her soul) was apoplectic that I was so careless to have just wandered around seeing 'ebo' here and there. It is all fake but it is also dangerous because it is not the black magic that works but poisoning, mind control/fear factor and physical harm that these people perpetuate in the name of their Orishas.

This is Net Gear Router or Hub (what is the differencewink)! But thanks for replies!

Any useful contribution is welcome. I have a spare and going to Nigeria soon, I was just wondering if it will be useful to bring along. I might also have another one of the same as I am cancelling my Virgin Media contract and they are not going to be asking for it back...

Thanks.

I do not know! I am just saying that your skill has to be in good demand to be successful in those kind of countries. You are so right! Why go to a place like Dubai - I seriously hope you are a devout muslim because why just bother with those kind of countries if you are not a specialists like a Doctor, Engineer, Oil expert, Defence expert, IT expert or even a Nurse?

You are not likely going to make enough money doing slave-labour type jobs; even security or clerical to justify being so far away from home in some ungodly country where you cannot even enjoy yourself or your money and you stand the risk of being Sharia-ed...

I better get my VISA application in sharp sharp... I was thinking of leaving it for the last 3 weeks before travelling so that the date on VISA is closer to departure. This is a terrible thing to happen especially abroad where they should have modern equipment and lots of money from the very expensive VISAs.

Does anyone know what the current situation is in the UK with 32-page passports books and/or VISA stickers/stamps?
RomanceRe: Why Do Nigerian Men Come Back Home To Marry? by chrisj2(m): 4:24pm On Oct 24, 2016
Can I just add that going home to marry is not just about the doom and gloom that has been expressed in many of the comments to this thread. Also the same from the last 2 similar topics in the last 2 weeks.

People need to also consider that it can be hard to really meet and know people when you are of a certain age and at a certain location; wherever you might be abroad...

Furthermore, there is nothing wrong with arranged marriage - the two families are most likely to be properly invested in the relationship and the success of it rather than just marrying someone you have met independently for a short while and in a country where a lot of things are permissible and mediation can be hard to come by. At least, if things are going wrong with a Nja/Nja marriage, other family mediation and involvement might help.

FamilyRe: Should Married Men Tell Their Wives How Much They Earn? by chrisj2(m): 8:00pm On Oct 18, 2016
buffalowings:
Sometimes I forget that Nigerians in the diaspora do comment.
Furthermore, in the UK, most people can have a rough idea and good guestimate of what others earn - that is if you are an employee and do normal jobs not a merchant banker, or work for a multi-nationals or at the very high level in the entertainment/media industry.

For me, it is not about how much the spouses earn but how much investment and personal savings and assets they have - and their liabilities/debts should also be factored in.

I do not think it is necessary to fully disclose everything - being married does not stop the person being an individual and being an individual and does help (sometimes) in terms of financial management. Again, it could be negative - as the other half might be buried in debt without disclosure. I am very good with money and I do trust myself to invest in the future of myself and family. Full disclosure might help especially with folks wanting this and that and the other half might want to splash out on this or that..

Why should a woman or man submit his or her salary or wages in a marriage - this is why a joint account comes in: the contribution ratio depends on individual circumstances - the wife might earn more than the man or the income of one or both might vary if they are business people or freelance.

* You should always have a bit of you in every relationship!

Yes marrying a single mother comes with its baggage when the mother devotes more time the son than the new family, the man can make a reasonable demand

Let me ask, if you are dating a single father that devotes more than half his time to a child from a previous relationship and told you my son is more important that 1000 wives, I want to know how man women would continue to marry the man

What are you bringing to the table is a very legit question to ask, As long as the man tells you what he is bringing to the table. If you were offended by that and had to respond that "You are the table" or whatever that means. Maybe its better that you deleted his contact
I also did not think it is that offensive to ask what the other person is bringing to the table... I guess the man probably askes you that question as you are perhaps too bold to suggest that your child is more important than a 1000 husbands.

As a single mum, you should be aware of everything and everyone that might be involved with you... You need a lot of patience and diplomacy and compromise too. It is not easy being a step-parent especially to a woman that has been scorned and with a male child - your boy (without his real dad around) might end up being a real pain in the neck for the man.

'You are the table' and then you complain that a medical doctor want just sex from you - please take the sex and his money and who knows what might happen along the way...
