Even people in food surplus countries show off their food on social media. In fact some make careers out of sharing their food on the internet.

Why do some people get offended over nothing?

E2000:
Many of this Normal Human things in the advance world sounds strange to people living in the wicked world that's why people go to fancy restaurants in Africa and snap their food and put it on social media like there is anything special about it this only shows the level of stupidity and wickedness operating in Africa to the point that common food is now becoming a Luxury that people show off with on social media. what a disgrace and a mess of a thing it an insult to the black nations. It’s just so Unfortunate that we have no collective pride.

They never want to actually care for the children. Just take them to punish the wives and then dump them with a relative whose never going to have the same level of love and devotion to the kids as their biological parents would.
Kobojunkie:
You say you have the boys but from your own OP, they don't live with you as instead you left them with relatives in the village. So technically, you don't have the boys. Due to the nature of your job, you can't be with the kids during this time that they need at least a parent to care for them so why not allow your wife havd them all until they are old enough and your job no longer keeps you from being with them? undecided

You both ought to seek shared custody of the kids so she can care for them while you can visit them when you are not working but you holding the boys hostage by dumping them in the village is not something any sane person would want for children of that age. undecided

Bro, my rent was N550k per year at OPIC estate outside Lagos o. And then drive through that horrible traffic into the expressway daily to work. And that was because we formed bond with the landlord. The minute we told our landlord we were leaving, I got him a new tenant I met here on nairaland. Landlord jacked the rent for the guy to N1mn - 3 bed flat. The guy was telling me via WhatsApp. I swear! They finally agreed on N850k. Same compound, we pumped our water - which was basically clay and spend N4k to buy chemicals plus a small bag of alum every month to throw inside the tank on every pump. I kid you not.

My phcn bill with prepaid meter was N22k / month excluding previous gbese that accumulated after we paid for meter and they were still sending us inflated bills and this was then o. With some SERIOUS rationing. I swich off fridge and completely offloaded my freezer when I go to work. So I was paying crazy in naija for utilities I didn't even enjoy or had to provide for myself. let's not even talk of medicines when ill.

The bills are NOT crazy at all like you guys think else, why do people stay? As for your London comment earlier, Londoners pay the highest percentile in rent truly but also earn the highest percentile in income averaging £28k to the high £60Ks. Trust me, my naija secondary school friend who lives there, it's chicken change compared to her net pay at month end o.

If you have a partner, it's even better cos u share bills for a single hhousehold.I repeat, its not as crazy as you think and u can save quite well in such a short time too.

They have misplaced priorities.

No one in such a rich country like our Nigeria should go hungry. Every citizen should have universal basic allowance to take care of food at the minimum. Minimum

okuwehcris:
That's what you don't understand, they made feeding cheap, so you don't complain about hunger or being lazy to work and earn money to pay the rent even if its high.

If feeding is cheaper in Nigeria you would hardly hear people complain about hardship.

Our government need to focus on giving the hungry man food before thinking on how to borrow money and build elephant projects for people to see them as working.

Former Plateau state governor Jonah Jang ficus more in agriculture and constructed roads to give farmers access to bring their products closer to the people, that's why he still remains the best till date...

Nigeria is totally bad!!! I live in Manchester and I earn same £10 an hour. My rent is £900 a month, I spend £50 for light, £80 for gas. My take home after tax is £1800 at least and out of it. I save a minimum of £600. And this is minimum wage
Nice. Where there’s a will there’s a way.

Now Imagine when you climb the employment ladder and increase your income and possibly get a partner who is on the same level as you.

Wishing you good luck.
Food › Re: See What Someone Bought With An Hour Minimum Wage In The UK £10 by cococandy(f): 10:06pm On Dec 02, 2023
But the point is to compare hour to hour or month to month because comparing money to money will seem like an unfair comparison

richiemcgold:
£10 should be around N20k.
You can also get these same provisions in Nigeria at such price.
But for you to earn such amount in Nigeria, you have to work for like 2.5 weeks (approximately).
Minimum wage in Nigeria is N30k per month.

The problem with some of us men is we see our interaction with women as ONLY ONLY sexual.
How to get a lady into bed, how to sex a lady every time.
We do not understand that women have their strengths and we can even help women to discover and use their strength.
And as you said, we don't help each other emotionally enough.
See, Queen Esther in the bible used her beauty to save a whole nation from extinction. This is the real power of beauty.
The pick up artistry woman seduction mentality we men have limits our thinking. It even makes us pursue sex to the deterement of
developing our self, potentials and talents. I mean its a problem if a man can impregnate 10 ladies but does not even have 1000 naira in his account and does not care about the children. It will only create a generation of single mothers who have emotional problems and dysfunctional children and homes
A lot of men also have emotional issues they cant tell anyone. They may try and tell the woman in their lives but it may
not be enough.
I THINK MEN AND WOMEN SHOULD MEET SO THEY CAN CROSS FERTILIZE IDEAS TOGETHER AND NOT BE IN A COMPETITION TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF EACH OTHER FOR SEX AND MONEY
You have spoken well. You’re right.

To train a Nurse in Nigeria for a period of 5 years is about #12 m. While Doctor is about #15 m
To now spent such ridiculous amount and stay put in a salary of #55k and #80 k respectively is an insult . Whereas , as a Nurse in United state, your pay is $35/ hr. You work 8 hrs a day.
Nigeria should take care of her health workers.
Give them good pay...give them cars, give them houses.

Yes. It's part of admission requirement. If at any point you had an urgency for spiritual need, there is always somebody around who will do that. (I noticed the chaplaincy always has somebody available 247) Not the nurse duty. Whether care home, domiciliary wherever, it's not part of your duty. If it's care home, they always come and conduct services for them. Some are taken to church. You belong to a particular denomination, eg deeper life, there maybe no deeper life pastor but a pentecostal pastor will do eg redeem.
Okay so no different than here then

That’s what I meant when I said she should have asked first. Not that nurses are offering prayers here as part of their services

She has no right to ask. That is not within her duty as a nurse. If the patent tells she needs prayer, she should hand the information to her manager.
This is a very big offense in uk. Every year, black nurses keep on getting into this kind of trouble yet they don't listen.
It's just like becoming intimate with your patient after discharge. It's like a taboo. Once a patient, always remain one. You are caught, you may lose your pin.

NMC is not smiling at all.
When doing admissions, can the nurse ask the patients for any spiritual needs or requests for chaplaincy?
Health › Re: Nigerian Nurse Sacked & Deported From The UK For Praying For Patient by cococandy(f): 12:37am On Dec 01, 2023

Every country is different.
In uk, even if its the same faith, you as a medical personnel have no right to offer prayers.
Never. There is a department for that. Forward the request to the right source.

It's drummed into the ears of nursing students in the first few weeks of nursing. Also it in the nursing bible.
I know. But even in America you’re not to offer them prayers or even bring it up unless you’re doing the initial spiritual assessment.

The request has to be patient initiated. Then in that case you can agree if you’re so inclined.

I feel like my post is being understood to say a nurse can go asking the patients if they want to pray with them. Here that’s a no no too.

@bolded would be 'Best practice' and NOT pray with your patient as it's not within the remit of nursing.

The job of a nurse is to CARE. Remember the 6 C's, the professional values of a nurse. cool
Yes best practice is to let the spiritual care department handle it.

But you can pray with a patient who requested it and share the same faith as you. There’s nothing against that in nursing care.

You’re not going to ask them to pray for them. You are to ask them if they want a spiritual consult. If yes, Place the consult. But if they then ask you specifically to pray with them, you can say yes or of course say no if you’re not interested

I don’t know why this is an argument.

It is still unethical even if the patient asked.

Are you saying that if a patient asked for sex she would give him and the medical authorities wouldn't even raise an eyebrow?
Prayers and sex are not the same thing please 🙄.

Whenever I’m admitting a patient, it’s part of the admission questionnaire. You Ask them about their faith or lack of. And ask them if they’re interested in prayers or spiritual affirmations.

If they respond no, document it so that it will be in their file and no one will come giving them unsolicited spiritual guidance/support.

If a patient shares your faith or if they request prayers, you can pray with them if you’d like. Or place a spiritual consult to the chaplain and have someone from the chaplaincy come see them.

We do it all the time. Speaking as someone who has worked in different hospitals across different coasts. It’s the same everywhere.

It’s only unsolicited prayer/preaching that is unethical.
