basilo102:Exactly. I'm shocked how learned people are taking that 'AND' to mean must win Abuja!! The 'AND' means must win 25% in 1/3rd of the 36 Sates and Abuja. Because Abuja is not strictly a state, the word 'And' was used to add it to that requirement. If it were a state, it would have been 25% in 1/3rd of the 37 states. So a candidate would win 30 states, win 25% in all 36 states and FCT, but because he didnt WIN Abuja specifically, he wont be President!? How stupid would that be? A rerun could happen 10 times and that could still be the same scenario. The guy might never win Abuja because the guy he's contesting against is from there. |
Yamiriflathead:Not likely. This was most likely the press release. There is nothing here about universities also , which he is reported to have said in the same speech where he referenced gorilla |
sulaak:They didn't come out to vote simple!! I have a few friends with cards that didn't vote because none of the three made sense to them |
Badgers14:I don't agree with this assessment. Many of Obi supporters are more youth and educated. But we tend to forget that the semi illiterate and full illiterate and those who vote on ethnic and religious sentiments still make up the majority of the voters. Obi is not likely to have done much better than he did in the North as he had no presence there and no LP governor to push for him. We need to realize that not all Nigerians are on social media. Social media is not a representative sample of the population. So all the overwhelming support for Obi on social media doesn't translate in northern states. It doesn't even translate in the hinterlands of SW states. Only Lagos which is by far the most online state with most of the youths. And who is to say there was no rigging in the South East with LP winning above 90% in some SE states. I think the result generally reflected the direction of the votes. The tragedy of this election is really that it's still being determined by the"masses" who really don't know why or what they are voting for, except for ethnic and religious lines. |
koning:Or Funso Doherty! Of the clips I watched of the debate, he was by far the smartest sounding. |
redcliff:It’s clear the LP guy winning in Eti OSA was a bandwagon effect of Peter Obi. |
kponkedenge:What exactly are you saying? If Atiku was able to win Osun, why couldn’t Tinubu win some LG in Rivers and AI? |
Treadway:Not likely. Much as I hate to say it, it looks like BAT will be our next President. Obi is not likely to get 25% in sufficient states based on what I’ve seen so far. And his performance will be worst in the north where I don’t see him getting 25% in any core northern state. Even in SW, Obi may not get 25% in more than 2 states. Maybe only Lagos and Ogun. Meanwhile, Tinubu will win most states in SW, some in the north and will likely get 25% in other states in the north that he doesn’t win due to influence of Buhari and other northern APC governors. Tinubu will also likely get 25% in some SS states. If the winner of the popular vote doesn’t get 25% in sufficient states (which I think is unlikely, but a possibility), the run off will likely be between Tinubu and Atiku, as I don’t see Obis total number of votes being the second highest. |
[quote author=Kobonaire4 post=121270712]Keep abusing the illiterates. You are making the same mistakes that the Democrats in the USA made in 2016, that allowed Trump to win. Democracy is about convincing people about the merits of your cause. Many of you city guys don't go out and do that.[/quote He’s right actually. The literacy level plays a huge part in the elections in Nigeria. Do you notice that in areas where you have more literate people like the cities and townships, the choices made by the electorate are more sensible. That’s why you see Obi winning in Lekki, ikoyi etc.But once you go into the hinterland and villages, or illiterate parts of cities like shock, you find that the voting pattern is much more tribal. Unfortunately this election has assumed a tribal nature. Atiku or Kankwaso in the North, Tinubu in the West and Obi in the east. Tinubu will pick some stares in the north due to some APC state governors and ditto Atiku in the west in Osun. Obi on the other hand may not pick any state in the north or West at all. |
iwaeda:Abokis at work! For president they voted their own. |

WibusJaga:I hope you know only about 50% of Nigeria's production belongs to the government. The other half goes to JV partners. So it should be 1,600,000*800*80*.5=N54,400,000,000.00 |
TheRareGem1:I hope this increase is real and not audio production? Cos different parts of govt give different figures. Don't be surprised by tomorrow NUPRC or NEITI will come and say Nigeria's production is 1.2mbpd. However, to maximize the benefit of the Dangote refinery, we should be producing 2.5mbpd. So that the 600kbpd refined by Dangote and additional 100kbpd by PH refinery and modular refineries, which do not count to OPEC quota, will allow us export the 1.8mbpd OPEC quota and we earn the full value of our quota in USD. |
ebukajay184:Typical Igbo man house. Horrendous!! |
davidl7:Totally agree! People should put sentiment aside. |
eminikansoso:And which defensive midfielder has ever won African, European or World Player of the year? |
PlayMaker14:Mikel is not serious. He was not robbed of anything. How did he expect to win, a player who scores no goals, compared to Yaya Toure that was almost City's top scorer that season. That was the season where almost every time Yaya steps up to take a free kick, na goal. No doubt Mikel was superb that season, but Yaya was also immense that period. The clincher was that Yaya was scoring for fun. Bottom line, football is about scoring goals. And are you really about to argue with Eto and Drogba being the best at the peak of their powers? Anyway Nigeria can win this year if Osimhen keeps scoring and Napoli wins the Scudetto! |
nairamaniac:That means your are above 40 at the minimum. Today pikin won't have any clue what moonlighting is. ![]() |
millionboi2:Very good question. He's the glue holding that church together. |
pimplucious:Might do the hall, but certainly not a hotel. |
Tokskob2008:Why is it harder to hand out a $10 note, compared to N5000, which is multiple notes? Dollar is actually easier, just that in the hinterlands people might reject it due to difficulty in changing it as people will want to spend immediately |
Mamaafrik1:TsTV serious so? I don't think so. |
That's an average of $0.56 cents for a can. How is the chart showing over $2! Nigerians don't reason and verify info before they start arguing senselessly.

ZombieSlayer1:If you are looking at it from a business point of view, if petrol is subsidised at N165, while production cost is N400, then surely you don't expect the refineries to survive. From a social point of view, even if you want to say we accept the subsidy, Nigerian government has a horrible track record of running any business. I make bold to say there is NO SINGLE business run properly by FG. I challenge you to give me one that has been run effectively for 10years straight. Those are reasons why we cannot refine crude. |
ZombieSlayer1:That's cos they are STEALING the crude that oil companies used Billions to explore, develop and produce, using very crude techniques that destroy the environment and do not guarantee quality. It's all well and good using products from those artisanal refineries until your engine knocks! |
Kobonaire4:Left to me, I'd reduce the workforce by about 30%. Federal agencies, parastatals and civil service have too many unproductive staff at all levels. |
ZombieSlayer1:Oil producing doesn't make much of a difference if you take away subsidy. There is a cost to finding oil, developing, producing and refining it. If you are an oil producing country the only benefit is you avoid shipping costs. But funny enough, because of high cost of production here, it could be cheaper to buy crude from Russia right now, compared to refining locally produced crude. |
FalseProphet1:More like N700per litre |
But isn't it funny APC governor's are running helter skelter on this Naira notes issue. Yes I get that it's really frustrating for the people, particularly the 'masses', who are usually illiterate and less likely to have ATM and internet banking, but like Oseni said, the governors and politicians do not have our interest at heart. They Are only worried that the crisis will make them lose the elections. |
Deoo1125:There is nothing fantastic about cashless economy that we are not ready for. How are these same people ready to use GSM, but not ready for cashless. Its just a state of mind. In time, they will get used to it. Yes it can be hacked, but let's not over glorify that. If you take the necessary precautions, then you are relatively safe. Same way you can be robbed of your cash. |
