@ALL - I got a call to come pick up my application from the embassy today. I was given my VISA oh. I didn't pay deposit, my bank and sponsor weren't called (submitted my bank staty and a non-related sponsor's), even my schools abroad didn't contact me that they where contacted, I'm just so grateful to God right now. After 5 months, 2 weeks and 4 days.

So whats the way forward, what has happened has happened, we need to move to the next course of action. What has Nairaland, R231 and the rest decided is best to do in these circumstances. We have established the fact that the man under the bridge took wrong steps or decisions but what are we (learned peeps) going to do to ensure he takes the right steps, enough of the past. Lets move ahead and get a solution.

How come I am just seeing all these threads now. These are threads that are supposed to be publicized all over Nairaland. I also urge that we all take it seriously as its for a good course. God bless us all as we embark on these journey together, Amen.

We are all just saying what we feel is right but how many of us are in that situation? Sometimes poverty can push people to act insane. Do you know what it is to stay under the bridge for 2 years, so how do you expect someone who is not exposed or has not been in touch with reality in a long while to act. I think the man doesn't really understand the terms being given to him, I don't blame him because after the accommodation, what happens next?

I think the best solution is to teach a man how to fish so that you don't need to bother about him again. A collective donation for him to start a lucrative business is wiser than an accommodation. The money would not be handed over to him directly but invested in a business for him. The business would be opened for him to run. If he is taking advantage of the situation, I would do the same if in the same circumstances. If he collects accommodation now and after a year his situation does not improve, who would listen to him then, they would say he has come again with his issues. What is worth doing is worth doing well. Get his story out there, lobby for the man if the need be and make sure he gets an accommodation & business that way you know you have saved a family from snakes, insects, water born diseases, kwashiokor, starvation, depression & deprivation etc. Only provision of an accommodation is like something handed with your mind in another place. This is a golden opportunity to secure a better life for his family, remember if he doesn't get a lucrative business going, his kids and unborn kids might have to hawk good and we all know where that can lead them to when they get frustrated and pushed to the edge.

I am glad we are all in support of saving these couple. May God continue to make your business his own as you are blessing his own creation too. You know sometimes God sends people to bless people. Let us yield to this golden opportunity as our quota to humanitarian work and community development. If you are still thinking about it, a trial would convince you, trust me the blessing that would come with it, would be amazing, you would testify on here. God bless you all.
