EducationRe: Nigerian Schools' Disciplinary System; How Effective Is It? by davidif: 4:17am On Jul 10, 2009
Trust me it is definately effective. I support it 100% but the only problem is with such act its hard to know when such action is done out of anger or hate. I was disciplined when I was back home and outcome has taken me a long way to become a better citizen.
Emeka, thanks jo, i too am a living testimony of that.

but what have you got to say about naija's area boys and touts? They are very rampant in the country. would you blame that on naija's school's disciplinary system?
oh and also armed robbers.
Like i said earlier, this is a classic example of confusing correlation with causation. Because Michael Jackson's father beat him does not mean that that is what turned the guy into a monster. There are several other mitigating factors which you are excluding. Same goes for the naija situation, because there are "area boys" and "touts" does not mean that the flogging created them.

Foreign AffairsRe: Mugabe Calls Top Us Official 'an Idiot' by davidif: 4:05am On Jul 10, 2009
This man fought and risked his life for the independence of that country and not a few people still remember that.
Because you saved a baby from a burning house does not mean that 15 years later, you should throw him down the bridge. Mugabe might be a great revolutionary but he just like Kwame Nkrumah are horrible statesmen.
Foreign AffairsRe: Mugabe Calls Top Us Official 'an Idiot' by davidif: 4:02am On Jul 10, 2009
What went wrong? Something must have happened that made the West to use institutions like IMF and World bank to stifle the economy of that country by denying the country access to funds that a country like US with the worst debt record in the world has access to.
Oh yeah, always blame the west for your problems, typical black man attitude, abeg carry go jare angry

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Arsenal are in serious debt! by davidif(op): 3:57am On Jul 10, 2009
The reason i am posting this is that i just want people to be aware of the financial situations of your teams so that they don't end up like Leeds United, Parma or even Lazio. Most Nigerian fans tend to think that there teams have an endless reserve of cash. They don't know where there money is coming from, infact, most don't even care (or want to know at all). They just wan to see there teams win the EPL. They never ask what the consequences would be if they can't get there finances in order. Don't worry, when these teams end up in Division 2 then you people might want to wake up.

this is why i hate certain things in nigeria. this is nothing but sexual harassment and the stupid company will keep quiet abt it, they will rather have the shameless customer and fire a diligent employee, it is just plain annoying and u can't even sue
abi, instead of creating stringent sexual harassment laws, they are trying to ban different female outfits.

As for Transformers, if you are the type that loves movies for acting and a great story line then you DON'T WANT to watch Transformers, its just as terrible (acting and plot wise) as the first one. But if you don't care and just want to see an amazing summer blockbuster then Transformers 2: Revenge of the fallen is the greatest movie EVER MADE period.

He is scary, lethal, has a spine-chilling voice and his face is grotesque.
sauron, you are on point, even though i haven't watched the movie (only seen the commercial), i remember the Woody Harrelson character comparing him to the "bubonic plague".

PoliticsRe: The Cia In Nigeria: Coups Past, Present, And Future. (Updated) by davidif: 7:38am On Jul 09, 2009
THE U.S. CONGRESS INVESTIGATES THE MURDER OF FOREIGN LEADERS BY THE C.I.A. AND CALLS FOR A PRESIDENTIAL DECREE TO END THE PRACTICE. MEANWHILE, THE ECONOMY GOES INTO A TAILSPIN BECAUSE OF RISING OIL PRICES AND A NEAR-COMPLETE OIL EMBARGO AGAINST THE WEST. JUST WHEN PUBLIC PRESSURE MOUNTS FOR A REFORM OF THE GOVERNMENT'S SECRET OPERATIONS OVERSEAS, THE GOVERNMENT OF THE SINGLE-MOST IMPORTANT OIL SUPPLYING NATION FALLS INTO NATIONALIST HANDS. THE PRESIDENTIAL ORDER IS PREPARED AND SIGNED -- BUT NOT UNTIL FIVE DAYS AFTER A COUP PUTS NIGERIA FIRMLY UNDER 'FRIENDLY' RULE. WAS IT COINCIDENCE OR CONSPIRACY? SUSPICIONS STILL LINGER,

At the time of the infamous 1976 coup that put Olusegun Obasanjo in power, there was little in the way of concrete evidence linking him to the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency. But over the years that followed, Obasanjo became a highly visible part of a complex network developed by the United States government to wage political and economic warfare against Nigeria.

A series of formerly-secret cables between Lagos and Washington, along with other documents from government and private sources, reveal ties between Obasanjo and at least two groups working closely with the CIA -- and also make it appear likely that the recent plot to overthrow the Nigerian military government originated in Washington.

more?
Oh boy, not again, here comes the conspiracy theorists. It seems as if everybody blames the CIA for everything. Even the Ayotollah of Iran blamed the CIA for Michael Jackson's death.  Even Mugabe probably blames them for the economic crisis in Zimbabwe. In fact, these seems to be the number 1 instruction on every dictator's playbook. When your policies fail and things are not going as well as they are supposed to, just blame the CIA. When the people are revolting or protesting against the govt. blame a "foreign western power", if that doesn't work, blame the CIA ha ha ha. Kosovo, You seem to be like most Nigerians who are willing to believe anything that anyone posts on the internet, (unbelievable), very soon you would be saying that aliens exist or that USA didn't land on the moon or that George Bush planned 9/11 so that he could invade Iraq.  he he he, keep up the good work ehn, okare o.

By the way, the CIA isn't that ubiquitous, you people give them waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much credit for such an incompetent organization. Imagine this guys didn't even have anybody on the ground in Iraq before they even invaded, they were relying on some other intelligence agencies. During the Gulf war, Saddam had built a nuclear facility to build nuclear weapons and they missed it totally. They failed to predict the insurrection and the ensuing chaos in Iran in 1979, this was something right under there very noses and you guys are looking at them as if they are all omnipresent, ye ye people.

Stick to the issues please. Why did he call someone names? What did the person do? It seems to me that you will gladly say "yes sir" to a white man that calls you a monkey just because you are scared of offending him by saying you are not one.
Afam, this guy ruined his country what are you talking about?? Unofficial statistics state that there Inflation is at 11000% shocked shocked shocked Did the "white man" cause that?

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Arsenal are in serious debt! by davidif(op): 6:48am On Jul 09, 2009
Arsenal  has a debt of 400 million pounds!!! all mostly from building the Emirates stadium, but they haven't had any problems repaying there debt so far. When they demolished Highbury, they built apartments on it  but unfortunately, they haven't been able to recoup there investments on it.

They will be very resilient like their mama. Besides, I won't beat my children to the point of death! absurd and unimaginable!
Slimfine, you just don't get it do you? nobody is saying that you should kill your children but a little flogging to correct them is not as bad as you say it is. Even the bible, God's own word has said that "spare the rod and spoil the child". In fact, this point is emphasized all throughout the book of Proverbs and yet you think you are as wise as God, keep decieving yourself. Even civillizations who don't believe in the bible do believe in a good whipping. Some of them embraced this as a very effective method of discipline and it has worked. Going against it is foolishness.

Oya now, when you are married come speak to me 21 years later and let's see how things turn out.
CareerRe: Female Marketer Vs Her Client by davidif: 6:30am On Jul 09, 2009
I am currently working on a major deal with a new client and and recently my client's attitude towards me has been less than professional, for one
i have to meet him for lunch or dinner for meetings and when he send text messages to me he refers to me as honey /sweetheart.The most annoying is that recently he gave me a hug right in front of my female colleague However he hasn't come one to me directly or asked me out directly i really do need advise on how to tell him in a subtle manner to back off without offending him i really need to close the deal.

PS Did i mention that i recently got married and he is aware
@poster
There is something called principle and you have to stand on it and tell the client TO STRAIGHTEN UP OR SHIP OUT!!!! angry angry angry Abi iru nonsense wo le leyi (which kind nonsense be this). I hate it when Nigerian men do this. It is soooooooooooooooo incredibly annoying. angry angry angry

PS By the way, the hugging part in yanki is no big deal but considering our culture and the fact that the man has been misbehaving then that is a NO NO angry angry
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Liverpool Might Go Bankrupt? by davidif(op):
Liverpool has a debt of 350 Million pounds and they are having trouble financing (paying) there debt. Therefore the two banks that loaned (borrowed) them the money (Royal Bank of Scotland and Wachovia) might soon repossess the club and force a resale so that they can recoup there loans.
