Dont jump to publish news like this until you are certain. Please! Please! |
There is no basis for comparison. Soludo is a professor who likes to theorize. Sanusi is a banker who likes to solve problems. Sanusi has won Best Bank Governor but I dont think Soludo came near that! |
We should seek their help to govern Nigeria. |
While the boss sleeps, the aides help themselves with wanton looting of monumental proportions. How would one individual, a government official, walk away with that stupendous amount? The courts will do their own granting injunctions! The house will do theirs, milking off what is left in the name of panels. The perils of the common Nigerian continues! Okupe wants to assure us that corruption is being fought. He is doing well at his job! What manner of political class do we have? The poor on the street is warning. If the poor has nothing else to eat, he will pounce on the rich. Failed leaders who are working to fail the nation. But they shall not succeed. That is our prayer. |
Oil Subsidy crime is still a bigger crime than kidnapping as it robs the entire poor of the country. That is not to say kidnapping should be condoned. GEJ's tenure will be judged to a great extent on how he handles these crimes. Results from Opinion polls suggest tat he is currently on very poor side of the score sheet. His aides that are fooling him that everything is nice out there will soon jump ship when they find their boss sinking. Oga, be wise. |
Nice figures, well done Naija. Ghana with a population of 15 million people got $2 billion plus, Nigeria with a population of 170 million got $9 billion. Let us throw this question to a Primary 1 student: Who do you think got more value for its citizens? |
With hand or with leg? |
O God, save Nigeria! |
For once we have a Niger-Deltan at the helms in Aso Rock and the Niger-Deltans want to make the country ungovernable! |
The end of the world is near! |
Does CAF have the record? I doubt very much. How then would FIFA recognize it? |
pazienza: Cretin, van basten stared for the netherlands and AC milan, two world class teams, cristiano stared for Man u and is doing the same for real madrid. Messi has failed to star for any other team at a top level(those under age tournaments don't count) apart from barca. George best? Nobody mentions him when they talk of all time greats, rather names like maradona, pele, eusebio, zidane,de lima comes to mind, and there is a reason for that.Ronaldo was sold by Man U because his behaviour became unbecoming. That is not a virtue! A good player continues to play his best even when other teams are toasting him, and does not hop around like a prostitute! |
toba: Yes it takes 11 players to win the world cup. People like Muller and Zidane, outshined/played other 10 players in their teams by putting extra effort to ensure their countries won the Euro cup and World cup. Why cant Messi do same thing? can u recall how michel Platini handed france the euro cup? scoring more goals than the number of matches he played. Those are the characteristics of geniuses. Till messi does that, he remains a local champion. You do have a point. However when history is being recorded, it will show that the player who scored most goals in a single calendar year is Messi. Anyone who wants to break that record should angrily go and join a club today and try! If no club is willing to buy him, he should just duff his hat for Messi and admit that his achievement is no mean feat. Aguerro + Torres + Rooney put together do not have up to that! |
pazienza: Pele was successful with santos and brazil national team, messi has failed to replicate his heroics anywhere else apart from barca, that's not the stuff of a great footballer. This does not make sense to me. Barca will not sell Messi. His contract is more complicated than you think. Go and read about it. By the way, has loyalty stopped being a virtue? AVP stopped playing his best for Arsenal just because he wanted to leave. Is that a virtue? Torres stopped playing his best for Liverpool just because he wanted to jump ship to rival Chelsea. Same with Nasri etcetera. Messi continues to give his best to Barca and to his team-mates and people suggest nonsensically that he should go to another club. Even the Argentines playing for Madrid would wish Messi joins them and they even vote for him as the best against their team mate Ronaldo, which was why CR7 was angry and sad earlier in the season. All the Messi haters should stop being jealous and just accept that the guy plays great football. Period. beyond that he remains loyal and humble. And these are good virtues. Money is not everything, as those players running to Man City would want us to believe. Gerrard has been loyal to Liverpool, Rooney to Man U, Giggs to Man U, not because they are not sellable but because they feel money is not everything! Be content with what you are and what you have, says Messi. |
toba: I can see that most people posting comments here have little knowledge about football. Pls how many matches did gerd Muller played for him to score 85 goals in a year and how many has Lionel Messi played to score 86 goals? Obviously, Messi has played more. Gerd Muller did his in fewer matches in a year.It takes 11 players to win the world cup! Argentina, not winning the World Cup does not diminish the fact that Messi and Ronaldo (both have not won the WC) are some of the greatest players of today. Anyone who appreciates good footbal (I mean good football) will not fail to admit Messi's greatness. Zidane did not win the World Cup, France did! Spain fielded the best 11 players last World Cup and they won it. That does not make Torres or Silva or Iniesta the greatest. Winning the world cup is no feat that 'one great' player can accomplish by himself. Arsene Wenger, Ferguson, who are masters of the game have not failed to admit Messi's genius. Fabregas, himself a great player once said that Messi is simply 'out of this world'. One of the best players Europe has produced said that no one can contest 'Ballon Dior' with Messi, not even the next three editions. Those who really understand football know who Messi is, attest to his extra-ordinary skills and do not contest the fact that he is the greatest player today. Let all the Messi haters, at least for once congratulate him for his superb performance. Todays' football is far advanced than when Pele or Mueller played. That is a fact. The game is more physical, more advanced, more thorough, and if you go by that you would probably agree that Messi has no equal. The only player ever that you could say was perhaps better than Messi is the great Maradona, but Maradona himself, claimed Messi is greater. Like Messi, let us learn to be HUMBLE! |
bisikeys: Nuff said.... This is one of the finest ever. I have heard my parents talk about Zico, Pele, Segun Odegbami. How they play with so much skill and finesse. But me no see them play LIVE sha. I am so happy to see a player like messi in my generation. He has such a rare combination of skill, class, quality and HUMILITY........He breaks records each day with such ease. He plays football each time with such enthusiasm, the kind you find in a little boyHUMILITY. That's it! He did not run around the pitch from pillar to post. He celebrated a bit with team mates and got on. His records speak for him. Greatest footballer of his generation. He is probably also the best team player around. So unselfish, so calm. |
Billyonaire: He is more than Pele, how greatPele was great in his time but must admit that football has become more advanced and that Messi stands out beyond anyone of Pele's time. |
Truly a great player and perhaps the best ever. |
They might not be the best the country can boast of, but you have Nigerians to blame for that. Nigerians are to be blamed for the useless/selfish/clueless/daft/wicked leaders we get. You know why? The answer's that "when good/better people come out for leadership positions in this country, Nigerians would use primitive sentiments to judge, ridicule or push them far away. Another reason is that many " good" People who probably would make great leaders in this country say it's not their business & they stay away from politics thereby leaving the bad people to savage positions of leadership in this country. " Nigeria belongs to us all & we the people are the ones that can change things. God Bless Nigeria.
We continue to make the same mistake as Nigerians. It is not the question of good or bad leadership but of a system that does not work. Even if you have best of men in Aso Rock today, it takes just 100 days before he goes blind. 36 states are too many. 108 legislators are too many. Federal Civil Service is heavily bloated and next to useless. We need 6 regions, regional economies, regional police and a weak centre. lets stop looking for heroes. That is what our politicians take advantage of and leave us worse than they met us. |
Birds of the same feather.... |
grandstar: He is speaking nonsense. How long did it take the East to recover after the war which in terms of intensity was far more damaging and gruesome than what is presently happening.Where is the money to pump? From a northern economy that has collapsed? The rich ones among them have their money stached abroad. The poor ones, in their millions, are used as bombs! FG of today is broke and unable to pay oil marketers. Where is the money coming from? The richest African is from northern Nigeria and he hardly has any major investment left there. Adamawa, Kano and Kaduna are states that have been hit by BH. Apart from the physical damage, what about the trauma that has led to mass exodus of people? I do not want to be a doubting Thomas, but same time let us not under-rate the impact of the damage being done by the killing of innocent persons. |
I lived in the North of yesteryears and in my opinion, the glory it had has gone. If care is not taken, it will even take longer. I hear the rich ones among them now have their wealth stored in Dubai. May God heal our land. |
Until Nigeria starts working!!! |
Bros Okups, you never cease to amuse us. Well done! |
First, he is not white. Secondly, he is not the first person of Arab origin to do NYSC. Thirdly, remove this thread, it is meaningless. |
Chelsea needs to purge its image so it is not seen as a club of trouble makers. First it was Terry and now Mikel. This does not look like a case of white or black as some unlearned people have said. It is a case of a club that is always in the news for bad reasons. There is too much craze about EPL in this country. Good players shake hands and hug themselves whether they win or lose but fans get funny going on to fight over nothing. If English fans choose hooliganism should Naijas follow suit? |
Congrats to the winner. Abi wetin we go say? |
When politicians tell lies, it sounds like truth in their own ears! That is how bad it is! Did you ever believe them at that time? They promised 11,000 kilometers of new roads, new trains all over the country. etcetera. |
Praise Jehovah. A similar thing happened to a friend of mine. He was dumped in the morgue after a fatal accident but someone heard a sound from the locked up tray where he was kept. His leg moved and people ran away. Later, they brought him out and behold he was still alive. Jesus is alive and he is still doing wonders. At Redemption Camp next week, there will be signs and wonders in the name of Jesus. Go and get yours. |
The fact remains that corruption in both private and public sectors remain endemic. We need a more drastic reaction. Nigeria may not survive these marginal improvements as recorded by TI. Wake up guys. |
The Commander-in-Chief has decided. Let us leave it at that. In the military you do not protest routine postings and that is what those gentlemen signed for. |
There are more than 20,000 pastors in this country, some working in villages without light, yet all manner of aspersions are now being cast on pastors. It is not good to generalize. That are few women who practice love peddling, does that mean that all women are prostitutes? |
