bigdoo: In UK banks even pay interests on current accounts. There is no such thing as COT. It is only company accounts that are charged interest but companies are usually given about two year’s moratorium before such charges could be made. However if you run some types of current accounts, charges could apply if such accounts provide customers with extra services or benefits such as £2500.00 overdraft limit, travel insurance and foreign exchange purchases at no commission e.t.c. But there is usually a small monthly charge, which in most cases are about £10.00 per month and that's all the customer has to pay.CBN please take a cue form this. Also, reduce ATM fees to N50. Thanks |
Well done SLS. Please look carefully so that the banks do not take it on customers by introducing new levies and charges. Bankers pay themselves ridiculous salaries, courtesy of COT and they wont want to give up easily. It is high time that banks, starting from their CEOs trim their pays in line with market realities. Imagine a CEO of a Nigerian bank earning N177million per annum, in addition to a whole lot of benefits. Whereas, the CEOs of major manufacturing companies do not earn 10% of that. And you wonder why Nigeria does not manufacture anything! |
AjanleKoko: While I understand your point of view, I also see the need to appreciate (note, I said appreciate, not hero-worship) a government official that actually did something. Nigeria is a complicated society with variegated problems, most of all the truculence and dishonesty of the ruling elite. It is their job, yes, but remember that these people don't think there is any social contract between them and the people, and mostly don't give a shyt. There were no such complaints when MMA2 was opened. Reasons: It was done by the private sector and that is what should be happening to airports now 2/The design, construction and finishing was very good, not just a product of panel beating 3/ It was commissioned new and it wasn't a case of doing fanfare after close to a billion (or even more) was spend panel beating an airport. Nigerians must learn to challenge the wrongs of government and not sit down wishing that good governance will come without people raising their voices. Third Mainland bridge has just been repaired and should be declared open today. Should government do another commissioning because of that repair? BRF, Lagos Governor has done several world-class projects, yet you wont see pictures of commissioning flying around. You panel beat an airport, use unsafe and inferior tiles, and gather to commission when renovation is still on. Sorry, that is below par! Do not get me wrong, I admire the Aviation Minister for making an effort and for improving things, and I really do. I only wish that she and others should raise the bar, reject shoddy job and minimize the waste that is accustomed with these 'commissionings'. |
Jonathan has done what many others couldnt do...
We hope so. time will tell! |
We hope that some smart folks have not misappropriated Nigerian money and have now turned around to use it to buy Nigeria! Oh, corrupt nation! |
Pain: What else should the Government be doing? After all it is their mandate to deliver on all basic & necessary infrastructure. I wonder why we keep applauding them for what should be their basic call of duty. Enough said. In the land of the Pirate, a Burglar is a Saint. I empathize with Nigerians, we are victims of several years of abuse by all the institutions of government. It will take some time for the wounds to heal and for the scars to fade. Sorry all.SPOT ON! |
FASHOLA will do 20 times better than this. They have spent billions 'pabel-beating' a building and you just wonder what the noise of the commissioning was about!! When did you take your car for a second dedication just after asking your mechanic to panel beat and re-paint ![]() |
Soundmind: Where is sahara reporters pls?KUDOS for what? Would a father expect his children to be thanking him for serving them garri for dinner? We are a problem to ourselves in Nigeria. A country where a minor road is built with Naira 10million, inflated to N60 Million in order to grease palms and then Naira100million is spent to commission it! Kudos for what? |
SUPPORTED!! |
overdrive: So what happens to the others. Tot they were five people in d aircraft?Exactly my thought. Our so called political leaders are no leaders at all. They have no sympathy for the common. That kind of silly thing will not happen among enlightened educated people. |
It wont sell! Strangely women do not buy technology that is exclusive to women. Same way PINK laptops have not sold. HONDA should have done its research well! |
I am just hoping that the news is false. If this is true, then we need to seek divine intervention seriously. If Amaechi too has joined them, then it is a disaster and a bad news for this democratic dispensation....Too bad...Too bad! Too sad to comprehend. Oh, God, save Nigeria. The military was not this bad! |
I PRAY AND HOPE IT IS NOT TRUE! |
Dress rehearsal for 2015 - Madam, go for it! Nigerian couples look forward to your presidency! |
I am still waiting to read something progressive from Dr Abat..... |
O God save Nigeria from Nigerians! |
He will buy another one tomorrow! |
CHINA, where most of the bikes are made, has banned the use of motorcycles for commercial commuting in Shanghai, its biggest commercial city! Can we be holier than the pope? |
OKADA is a menace on Lagos roads. For those criticizing Fashola, could you come up with a better way to handle the growing menace? Should BRF approve something that is not right just for the sake of elections? For anyone living in Lagos, have you found any group as lawless as Okada riders? Has the government not been making moves in the past to appeal to them, did they listen? What is Okada doing on 3rd mainland or Expressway? In some sane countries, even human beings are not allowed to litter around express roads! This is the same as people crossing the road right underneath pedestrian bridges that have been repaired and modernized by BRF. You would even see pregnant women, pulling two young kids trying to cross the road right under the bridge (Ojota, Onipanu especially!). Why are we choosing the lawless path in Nigeria, even when we know that the path is injurious? Think! |
BOKO stylee! |
PDP is doing well in Rivers because of Rotimi Amaechi. Lagos is benefiting from Fashola's hardwork. Forget ACN. Forget PDP. Look for good candidates. Period! If politicians can read correctly, that is the message that has come out of Edo and Ondo. Edo, Ondo, Rivers, Lagos give us a slight hope that democracy can work in Nigeria. The people have a stake in this. Make sure you vote only for credible candidates. |
Nigeria has a failed political class. Period! We cant beat them and we cant join them. Whither Nigeria? |
Elueme: Brave and wise decision. We must talk to reach an agreement. Political solution remains the only panacea.political solution with Cameroun Let us pray! |
Forget about licences. Forget about subsidy. If NNPC advertises today that it will take PMS at N75 from any willing importer, there is a possibility they will get too many willing sellers. |
ASK THEM O! |
HNosegbe: Embarrassing, I tell you. Meanwhile our mama the Dame just returned from Germany. We will never know how much was spent on the presidential jet that took her to and fro, the cost of maintaining her and her entourage, the medical bills, the hotel bills etc. ALL WITH PUBLIC FUNDS. But we're expected to do thanksgiving because she returned "safe and sound".I imagine that the cost of her treatment + Hotels + Flights + over that period will be enough to build and equip 2 modern hospitals or 10 primary health centres in LGs. We are a nation that is yet to decide the future it desires. |
The onus is on the FG to always make public their landed costs and how they arrive at the subsidies they are paying. There is no doubt that up till today there is still a lot of theft and false claims (going by what you read from EFCC and the rest, Remember that a big shot was recently arrested for discharging stolen oil in his jetty). Where the is no transparency, there cannot be progress. The question is - Why go to DPR or NNPC or Ministry of Petroleum to get a licence to import fuel? What licence do you get to import paper or pencil? Allow me to import my 20 tons without going to anybody and let me sell on the basis of my landed price. If that is done, I really doubt if we will be paying up to Naira97 per litre. The so called subsidy looks like the price of inefficiency! |
I do sense that you want the will of God to be done. I believe that if it is of God, you will hear from God too. Please take quality time till you hear, and you have a testimony like he has! It is for a lifetime, remember. And do consider your tomorrow, and not just the short term. In this matter, the principle of 'watching and praying' does apply. So first and foremost be certain that you are dealing with a person who truly fears and reverences God and who can talk about hearing from God on daily issues as well, and not just once in a lifetime! |

Authority stealing pass armed robbery... |
Mankind8: Na true, How many centimetre him don waka?Do you live in Lagos? It is common knowledge that BRF walks and even plays soccer every weekend. |
