Travel › Re: After Suspension: Would You Fly Dana Air ? by Dee60: 12:42pm On Sep 07, 2012
norrisman: Moronic Nigerians. The grounding of the airline was a precautionary measure whilst investigations into the June 3 crash were ongoing. Now the airline has been given a clean bill of health, I see no reason why one shouldnt fly with DANA. If everyone switched airlines after a crash no major airline will exist today as every one of them has had major crashes in their history.

Why are people still flying Air France after its Concorde crash in Paris and Airbus crash ove the Atlantic?

Why are people still flying US Airways after the crash in the Hudson River?

Why are people still flying British Airways after its 777 crash landed at Heathrow. In fact what happened to the 777 enroute from China was no different from what happened on that unfortunate Dana Air flight. The BA 777 plane lost all power but the pilots and passengers just had the good fortune that it happened within a distance in which they could glide to the airport. They barely scaled the airport's perimeter fence.
Unfair to compare the situation here with those foreign names you are mentioning. You need to mention one single case where an airline came down from the sky! Only in Nigeria....You also want us to quickly forget that AIR FRANCE and all European airlines completely grounded Corcorde after the Concorde crash. Concorde has not flown ever since. You also forget that Airbus of that same cadre that crashed was completely grounded until they discovered what the problem was and that led to the replacement of the speedometers in those crafts. Go and do your research well before you make comparisons.

The truth of the matter is this: IN NIGERIA WE DO NOT VALUE HUMAN LIVES.

The advisers of GEJ should do the right thing or be removed. next time the president does a visit like this, he should put on something smart or sporty! That is basic communications. Smart jeans and a polo shirt with a cap will do!
Travel › Re: FG Lifts Suspension On Dana Air by Dee60: 10:31am On Sep 06, 2012
pages: please, without sentiment, let me ask, is closing down an airline the best way to handle crashes? most crashes have affected top airlines yet WE NIGERIANS still fly them. The era of killing an airline becasue of an accident doesnt show any sense of seriousness on the part of our country.

British Airways has recorded more crashes than Dana air, and is still the number one choice of Britons and Nigerians. Air France recorded more devastating crashes than Bellview, Sosoliso and ADC combined yet still flies the skies with Nigerians flying in them. Its not more than 3yrs ago that a fully loaded Airfrance plane disappeared from radar and crashed into the ocean on its way from Brazil to France killing ALL on board? Or the Ethiopian airlines? Or Kenyan Airways?
Lets not be too emotional about this. yes, Lives were lost, but the lessons should be learnt from this accident to improve our aviation sector not kill it completely. I still believe if an airline does not adhere to safety rules and regulations, it should be forced to do so. however, if it shows adequate proof to show that it is serious about behaving itself, then let them fly, afterall, the consumer (commuter) will determine what happens to such an airline. Bellview was allowed to fly despite having a more fatal accident than ADC and the consumer power KILLED the airline slowly but surely.

Lets try to be objective as much as possible

STOP MAKING REFERENCE TO BRITAIN AND FRANCE. IN THOSE PLACES THE GOVERNMENT IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR POPULACE AND THEY MAKE EXPLANATIONS. WHAT TAKES US TEN YEARS TO UNRAVEL, THEY UNRAVEL IN TEN DAYS. THEY ALSO TAKE DUE DILIGENCE ALL THE TIME AND CANCEL FLIGHTS WHEN THEY HAVE TO.

HERE, NO ONE CANCELS ANY FLIGHTS. THEY WILL RATHER BRIBE REGULATORS TO ENABLE THEM FLY AND MAKE MONEY.

THE ONLY THING WE HAVE HEARD ABOUT THE CRASH IS THAT THE BLACK BOX WAS DESTROYED. FIRST, GOVERNMENT SAID THEY HAD RECOVERED THE BLACK BOX AND WOULD COMMENCE INVESTIGATION. LATER THEY SAID BACK BOX WAS DESTROYED BY FIRE. SAME WAY THAT PEOPLE STOLE MONEY FROM NITEL HOUSE, AND DECIDED TO BURN THE HOUSE WITH THE EVIDENCE!

SOME PEOPLE JUST TALK IN THIS COUNTRY AND MAKE NONSENSE COMPARISON WITH RESPONSIBLE FOREIGN COUNTRIES.

SOME PEOPLE ARE TALKING ABOUT HOW GOOD THIS AND THAT AIRLINE IS, AND THEY REFER TO THEIR WEBSITE AND TO HOW WELL DRESSED THE CREW IS, AND ALSO TALK ABOUT HOW THEY KEEP TO TIME. ETC. ARE THOSE THE THINGS THAT MAKE AN AIRLINE GOOD? PLEASE REASON!

IF OUR GOVERNMENT HAS RUSHED TO CLEAR DANA BECAUSE OF 'MAN KNOW MAN' THEY SHOULD REMEMBER THAT THEY WILL STAND TO ACCOUNT FOR INNOCENT BLOOD ONE DAY!

SANUSI, AKPABIO AND OTHER LEADERS TALKED ABOUT HOW MUCH THEY WARNED BEFORE THAT CRASH, YET AS USUAL IN NIGERIA, PEOPLE SHOUT AND SCREAM FOR 2 DAYS AND AFTERWARDS WE FORGET EVERYTHING AND GO ON WITH BUSINESS AS USUAL ATTITUDE. NO WONDER WE ARE WHERE WE ARE!

shadeltec: Trust Indians they know their way
Shadeltec - You are absolutely right. The foreigners know their way.

Our brains have been totally colonized. If this is an airline owned by a Nigerian, they would never come up again. But our so called former heads of state and 'statesmen' know how to lick the foot and the ass of any foreigner for any amount of peanut.

Nigeria is not working! May God save us.

Our President endorses everything. After eating all the cassava inside Garri, he now wants us to eat more Cassava inside bread!! What a pity! At least his administration has achieved 2 things - Increasing the price of petrol and the price of bread (2 essential commodities) within his first 18 months.

With his new N5000 note, he might as well increase the price of everything with one single action.

Kudos.

THE PROBLEM SOMETIMES IS THAT WE QUICKLY FORGET HISTORY!!! WHEN N1000 WAS GOING TO BE INTRODUCED THEY ARGUED THAT THERE WILL ONLY BE A FEW IN THE ECONOMY AND THAT YOU WOULD NOT COMMONLY SEE IT. A FEW YEARS AFTER, THAT IS THE MOST COMMON CURRENCY ANYWHERE, ON ATM, ON BANK COUNTERS, ETC.

THIS N5000 BILL WILL LEAD TO INFLATION. SANUSI CANNOT SEE THAT BECAUSE OF HIS EGO. HE JUST WANTS TO SIGN THE BILL SO THAT HIS NAME WILL REMAIN IN THE RECKONING FOR A LONG TIME. HE HAS DONE SO MUCH HARM TO OUR ECONOMY AND HE WONT JUST STOP. MORE SO WHEN HE FEELS HE IS IN CHARGE OF NIGERIA!! ALL THAT GEJ GOVERNMENT CAN DO IS TO ENDORSE EVERY NONSENSE COMING FROM SANUSI. I REALLY DO NOT KNOW WHY!!

I FEEL THERE IS A LOT OF INTELLECTUAL LAZINESS IN GOVERNMENT AND EVERYTHING HAS BEEN ABDICATED TO OKONJO AND SANUSI. I FEEL OKONJO MANAGES THAT WELL AND WANTS TO USE IT FOR THE GOOD OF THE COUNTRY BUT I CANT SAY THE SAY FOR SMS.

PLEASE LET US PUT EGO ASIDE. PLEASE BEG OUR RULERS (NOT LEADERS)NOT TO DESTROY NIGERIA. WE KNOW THEY HAVE HOUSES AND MONEY STACHED ABROAD, THEY CARRY FOREIGN PASSPORTS, AND HAVE KEPT THEIR CHILDREN ABROAD, BUT THEY SHOULD PLEASE NOT DESTROY NIGERIA.

Will this N5000 bill solve the myriad problems we have in the country?

NYSC › Re: Why Do Corpers Lack Employment After NYSC? by Dee60: 11:25pm On Sep 04, 2012
Please face the issue - Employers are looking for people who have skills and who are ready to work hard. That is the way it is world over. However, nearly one out of every 2 corpers you meet (if not more) are just looking for fat salaries and not minding how they will work for the money.

I was actually shocked to find out that when small and medium companies call some corpers for interviews, 50% of the time they even choose not to show up, and they donot send apologies, whereas they sent confirmations earlier that they will attend.

Bottom line, there is a 'follow-follow' syndrome. My friend has been called by MTN and First Bank, and I have to get that same type of job. But how many people can these big players take?

I am not saying these to castigate corpers. Not at all. I am just wishing that many of them will learn.

1. Do up your CV very professionally before you finish NYSC
2. Make up your mind what you want to do and apply for jobs you like
3. Spend time and resources applying for jobs
4. Dont waste opportunities - Take every invitation serious, afterall you were the one that applied
5. Dress well on interview date. Do not put on Jeans trousers and polo shirts. many job seekers do and its annoying
6. In fact, dress formally.
7. Research on the organization and be professional during interviews. Some little mistakes are irritating (like speaking PIDGIN at interviews)
8. Follow up with calls to show you are really interested. You stand a better chance when you call or mail to followw up.
9. Remember, as one author said: GETTING A JOB IS A JOB
10. Etcetera

WELL, IN THE REAL SENSE ALL THE PDP PEOPLE ARE TERRIBLY AFRAID OF SANUSI (INCLUDING GEJ). WHEN SANUSI SNEAZES THE WHOLE ASO ROCK AND APO VILLAGE CATCH COLD. WHO ARE THEY NOT TO ENDORSE ANYTHING SANUSI SAYS? MEANWHILE, SANUSI IS SMILING AWAY ALL THE TIME, JUST HAVING FUN! RIDE ON 'GREATEST CBN GOVERNOR EVER'. WE ARE WAITING FOR YOU TO SOON LAUNCH N100,000 BILL. AND OF COURSE, FG WILL ENDORSE!

REMEMBER WHAT THE GHANAIAN PROFESSOR SAID? NIGERIANS NEED TO FIND A WAY TO QUICKLY RECALL JONATHAN.

O GOD SAVE US!
NYSC › Re: Why Do Corpers Lack Employment After NYSC? by Dee60: 5:30pm On Sep 04, 2012
True story. We wanted corpers posted to us and went to NYSC to speak to some. We were ready to train them and retain them if they did well. Most of the corpers considered us too small. They were waiting for banks and oil companies. Some of them wasted that year of service just waiting for the right company...now after more than 1 year after service they are considering working with us!

Lessons
1. Corpers, please make up your mind early enough on what you want during and after service
2. Look for potential, and not necessarily after big names that wont retain you
3. Never consider your NYSC year as holiday. It is a time to prove your worth and get something for yourself! In a more competitive world people would rather employ corpers who gained some experience during NYSC and they would like to avoid loafers.

4, Dont wait to get something as good as your friend...fingers are not equal.
5. Remember, some people start big and end small, while some others start small and end big. LOOK AT POTENTIAL!
NYSC › Re: Why Do Corpers Lack Employment After NYSC? by Dee60: 4:48pm On Sep 04, 2012
The truth is......Some corpers are sincerely eager to work and are ready to sweat looking for jobs and getting interviews. They are also no so choosy or picky! There are others who really are not serious and they have a very short list of where they would like to work....Shell, Mobil, First Bank and ASo Rock. Quite unfortunately, these places can only take few people. This set may end up waiting for long and then run after any job that shows up after a while. Pray they dont become Dangote drivers!

THE LAW IS DRACONIAN. TOO DRACONIAN! LAGOS IS THE ONLY PLACE IN THE WORLD WHERE A PERSON IS THREATENED WITH A JAIL TERM FOR A TRAFFIC OFFENCE. Governor Fashola, with all due respect, is a lawyer and should know better. I am actually disappointed at his several draconian moves in the recent! Punish offenders, but not with jail term, in a country where cases of 'awaiting trial' has kept many in custody for 10+ years. Do we need more of that?

Politics › Re: Nonso-Maduakor Wrongfully Charged For Cynthia's Murder by Dee60: 10:57pm On Aug 29, 2012
The issue here is simple - The credibility of the Police is at stake. That may damage their entire case in this saga! Yes. The real lesson is that the security officers should do proper investigations. At any rate, it is ILLEGAL to parade people as guilty unless the court has said so. In that as well, they have erred. The Police does not need to score cheap points but do credible job that will portray them in good light. Right now, they are hardly trusted by the populace and they need to correct that. As this case is going, their credibility is again being put into question.

Politics › Re: Senate Orders CBN To Suspend N5000 Note Introduction by Dee60: 8:41am On Aug 28, 2012
Sanusi should do it the other way round. Make the kobo become relevant. The highest denomination in Nigeria should be 500 Naira and there should be only a few of that in circulation. Decimate all prices by 100 and then arrive at new currencies. If you earn N200,000 per month now, it should become N2000. If the price of bread is N300 it should become N3. That will force the kobo to become relevant as some bread sellers will want to sell theirs at N2.95k.

This is very simple to do. Ghana did it succesfully about 5 years ago while Nigeria is beating about the bush in 2012 because of some strange and selfish (sometimes silly) policies coming from our technocrats. I actually remember that Soludo submitted the blue-print for that decimation before he left CBN. That Soludo option is better for Nigeria.

The idea of N5000 sounds silly and points to how far some people will go to pursue selfish interests at the expense of the economy.

Introducing N5000 note and N20 coins will mark the final burial ceremony for the kobo. That does not make any sense. America still has the cent and Britain has the pence after many centuries.

Well, there is something we should underline here. A single lady should not go to meet a 'friend' in a hotel room, and moreso when it is a 'friend' you are meeting for the first time!

Khaleesi, I presume you agree to that. I am not pointing accusing fingers here because we really do not know how they lured the lady victim to their hotel room or how they all ended up in the same room. Just as a precaution to vulnerable ladies....dont go into a hotel room to meet a stranger. Don't go visit a man when you know he is alone in a big house (where no one will hear you when you scream).

Females are generally more vulnerable. They over-trust people who tell them the right words they want to hear and who make promises to them! Blame these evil guys who take advantage of women. THERE ARE MANY OF THEM OUT THERE! There are CEO, HR Managers, Governors, top politicians among them. They even steal our money to lavish gifts on their vulnerable victims!

Khaleesi,

Your story is quite interesting and its a lesson for many. Who knows how many are molested on a daily basis and of course would not seek justice because of lack of faith in our judicial system? Now we get to hear about Cynthia because our media would like to talk about what happened to a 'GENERAL's DAUGHTER'!

I wish you can publish your story in the papers and in several social media channels.

As it is, you really cannot stop people from meeting people in social media. It will be stupid to think so. In fact, you meet different people every day. The people you meet, either personally or via social media can add or delete value from you. Pray that you only meet people that will add value to you and pray to discern evil people so you can keep your distance.

As much as possible, do not meet people on social media unless you are able to pick one or two clues about who they are. Dont go to meet complete strangers unless in open public places! Dont go alone if you need to go. YOu must always tell someone where you are going to.

GEJ himself should speak up and stop shielding BH. It is believed that GEJ knows who the mastermind of BH is. He needs to act to stop SENSELESS killing of innocent persons all over the country. He should not wait until the BH consumes him!
