PastorAIO:A person is indeed very lightly attached a a car. Only the body rides in it really. The rest of what you wrote simply shows that you have not improved in your thinking over the last few years. Enjoy yourself. If you say that a soul or mind is a wishy washy thing, that is your cup of tea: regardless how sadly it contradicts your own oft voiced notions. I have told you often that you are a futile mind, you engage in and rest in futility: and apparently this has not changed. Try to ensure your existence is not futile as well. |
plaetton:Jesus vs Pharisees. Spirituality is not religion: go and repeat this 1000 times until you absorb it sire. Organized religion is simply establishment politics - finito. It has very little to do with spirituality in most instances. |
plaetton:And a sorry and sad low minded opinion it is. |
chieveboy:I was going to mention this. However I don't think its just the pineal gland. I cant tell though. There is however an interesting old Egyptian drawing showing the pineal gland as the all seeing eye. Anyone who has ever had an out-of-body experience will understand this a little more aptly. Many people tend to dwell in the world whereas a thinker dwells mostly in the recesses of the mind. |
PastorAIO:Good question. I have asked this exact same question several times - and in at least one case I recall asking this same question, and some people were irritated at it - https://www.nairaland.com/1565324/person The human person is very lightly attached through its soul to its mind: which mind is lightly attached to its physical brain - this physical brain is the transponder if you like, which enables the physical body to move about and perceive in the physical world: which physical world, is of course, a temporary illusion. |
mnwankwo:Sir, so delighted to see you here again. |
PastorAIO:A car is visible just as a body is visible. A car carries a person in the same way as a body carries a person. The person is invisible to the physical eye. We are all invisible, only rarely does the inner spirit and its inner eye or self genuinely see another person. |
raphieMontella:That is a given, but what is even more evident and certain is an existence beyond the material and physical reality we see in our waking hours. That intangible reality is far more real than the physical reality which we see daily and which will doubtless dissipate for one and all at physical death. |
ValentineMary:Oh dammnn it! Stop the italics you hear? They hurt my eyes. Now - tell me about reactions without actions in the quantum world. Just a warning - don't you dare bring up virtual particles in a quantum vacuum - no perfect vacuum has ever been shown to exist anywhere - nor can one exist: following the very rational notions that nature abhors a vacuum and that no such thing as nothingness exists. So called virtual particles exist in so called vacuums which contain gaseous pressure. Thus these are not vacuums at all. It is simple and rational to understand that things that begin or that move require causes or triggers. This flows with everything that we know, observe and have always known and always observed. It is not only irrational and contradictory to suggest the contrary, it is also counter-intuitive. Do you not see how contradictory it is to even call something a reaction at all, if it is not triggered by a prior action? Why call it a reaction at all then? And yet this is what you just did. The truth is that this sort of deceitful so called quantum logic is far more nauseating in logical terms than all religious myths put together - and yet some people feel intellectually superior or more enlightened for spewing such gibberish. Sad. |
ValentineMary:Sorry then I cannot continue the conversation unless you cease and desist and proceed to za oza room. |
ValentineMary:The existence of such has since been deduced in logic and philosophy however some persons reject simple notions such as the cosmological argument (Whatever begins to exist must have a cause) and various other derivative arguments which show that man is not, and cannot, be alone. |
ValentineMary:How are the two in bold mutually exclusive? And please if you are going to have a discussion with me kindly stop this irritating girlish habit of having everything you write in italics - unless you wish to emphasize a particular word or phrase. No offense intended. Tell me - how are evolution and codification mutually exclusive? |
plaetton:He says with decisive finality and assurance. I have since concluded that you are omniscient plaetton. BTW why did you run away the other day when you had the hilarious statement that there is no dispute concerning evolution? did you go to za oza room? Reality is a long series of cosmic accidents, a long endless series of cosmic lotteries. You can't really be certain of that you know? In the day that you die: perhaps you will understand what the blink of an eye is: and you will see the illusion that we live in for the blink of an eye that it is - and not 4.7 billion meaningless years. That's why we live our short lives and disappear back to nothingness , as just constituent particles in the ever dynamic cosmic cycle.Who said something about oxymorons. Ah, the tout, Jackbizzle. Now here is a perfect oxymoron: you propose that we actually go "back" to a place - that does not exist! Clap for yasef! |
JackBizzle:Its just as obvious that a moving ball must have been acted upon by a force or trigger outside of itself. It's that simple, you dodo. |
ValentineMary:I doubt that birds start building nests as soon as they slip out of the egg. I hope you understand my point here. I am talking blind, barely conscious creatures. At all events, Ancestral knowledge itself, is evidence of a code; a program. New born turtles race to the sea: Birds that have never migrated before accurately do so in season and time using the earth's magnetic poles as compasses. Bow down before that which is greater than you. |
KingEbukasBlog:Its interesting but escapist. Elements of it here and there are true: regardless: the Creative Factor of our Reality transcends this reality. It is flawed in that regard. |
byteHead:True. |
JackBizzle:Did you fall off your bed and crack your skull this morning sire? Your puerile low self esteem has always been a problem for me. I don't understand how any human can think so little of himself as you do. |
byteHead:I don't know where you are heading with this, but I doubt you can justify the use of the word "naturally" in the context of this thread if by that word you mean something that requires no program but just happens. Instinct is programmed, in my humble view. Please note that cats do learn to hunt. In fact, their parents spend painstaking time teaching them. Watch Natgeo Wild. |
ValentineMary:I watched my dog give birth to her fourth litter of pups this morning. Its still rather amazing to me how she knows exactly what to do - biting off the baby sack, licking off the umbilical chord. Protecting the pups even from their father by snarling at him. It's even more amazing to watch the blind pups pop out of her and immediately know to instantly seek out her nipples and start suckling milk. Make of this what you will: but there is an over arching force that guides this pulse that is called life. May that force be with, and for you, and us all. Good morning. |
Where is Plaetton. He is Pantheist too. Come here Sire. |
patriotic9jaboy:Where is the ban? I haven't seen any. |
patriotic9jaboy:Indeed, as an afterthought, let me add that I am mildly surprised that a person who advocates thus - patriotic9jaboy:. . . .Would feel insulted that he is told he deserves the Animal Farm that Nigeria is! |
patriotic9jaboy:Mynd44, Lalasticlala - He insulted all Nigerians who do not support the Gestapo style arrest of Judges by calling us insane: patriotic9jaboy:He assaulted the rule of law by saying this: patriotic9jaboy:. . . Thereby calling down anarchy on Nigeria of Robespierian proportions. I therefore urge you to be the Judges in this - no pun intended. |
patriotic9jaboy:You are a Nincompoop, and you very well deserve to live in the Animal Farm that is Nigeria: you do not deserve an inch better in your life, my friend. |
sukkot:You are very wrong in your attempt to dismiss the past and Buhari's antecedents. A people who do not know their history will eternally repeat the same mistakes. People learn and improve by taking on board the lessons of the past. If a man does not know where he is coming from, he can never know where he is going to. The truth is that Buhari is an unmitigated disaster and every single Nigerian ought to be wholly ashamed to have him as President in 2016. Before I discuss the disasters of his present nepotistic and hypocritical dictatorship, let me put the past in context with an old post of mine to show you that in this matter, Plaetton is very right and you are very very wrong. I reproduce below my response to Geist sometime ago on the subject of Buhari. ---------------- Geist:You are entirely right on everything you have just said (except perhaps Fela - I doubt anything would have allowed him to tolerate the faintest scent of Buhari. . .) And thereon let me be more.specific about my more private concerns on this matter. 1. I am completely against the idea of any former military ruler being voted president in this country. In this matter I am an extremist, I must admit. For me, it is the worst form of a peoples lack of historical perspective. I detest - and completely stand against the very idea that we should reach into the past to produce ex Military Presidents as our democratic leaders. A person who planned a military coup (or was the beneficiary of a military coup, depending on the way you see it) - should be in jail for treason in any proper country with proper perspective. This same should be more true for ANY leader who has by a coup or involvement in a coup truncated a constitutional democratic government. Now, even where such is not the case, it beats all imagination to then permit such persons not only the luxury and entitlements accorded to former Heads of State, but to go further to permit them to even countenance the idea of contesting to become democratic president in this country. As a consequence of this laxity and ambivalence on our part as a people, you recall that even IBB had the temerity to begin making noises in that direction - and people began to support him. You may also recall that Abacha attempted to make himself a civilian president, and in this same country people said there was no one else but him who could do the job. The truth of the matter is that if Abacha were still alive, he would be comfortably amongst the hallowed group of ex military Heads of State who have ruled this country as a cult. Further than that, he would be mooted as a future presidential candidate, just as has happened with Buhari. The idea stinks to high heavens, not just in its brazen illegality and the way it tramples on history -( a history in which the actions of this despicable cult has caused millions of people their lives and untold suffering) - but also its barefaced immorality. Only Nigeria can tolerate this sort of thing, I tell you. And even relish and celebrate it as positive "Change!" 2. I generally hardly vote in Nigerian elections for a number of reasons and I did'nt and would not vote in the last one. However for the reasons presented to you above I would have, if forced, have chosen a GEJ ahead of a Buhari any day anytime. In the same way I would have chosen him above any retired dictator no matter their promise to fight corruption or be stern. I simply believe none of them even have a right to consider being elected at all - particularly those involved in coups, and particularly any coup which truncated a civilian constitutional democracy such as occurred in 1983. No matter how corrupt the Shagari government was, if there was no military intervention, democracy would have grown and institutions strengthened through the years. June 12 would not have happened, the dark Abacha years would not have happened, Our Democracy would be 33 years strong - with many lessons. It is not so bad that we had to start again - that often happens in life. But it is unthinkable that we, in so doing have little choice but the same military rulers. Nigeria. ---------------------- We can also further discuss the demerits of the present government, although it can be aptly summarized by stating the obvious: namely that the President is a stark illiterate. |
plaetton:Plaetton, the Video has been taken down, but note one of the commentaries on the page - It says - "I would like to see a study done like that where Caucasians were placed in a neighborhood that was primarily another ethnic group. Have a group of three black children beat a car in a primarily black neighborhood, and then have three white children do the same thing. It seems only fair to do the study both ways, so that we could see if there was a bias in the black neighborhood against the children who looked as if they “didnt belong there,” in the same way the black children aroused more response in the primarily white neighborhood. As it stands, it seems to me that people are definitely discriminating, but the design of the program does not tell us if this form of discrimination is exclusive to whites or not. These kinds of videos can also skew the perception of people, in this case into thinking that racism or discrimination against outsiders is something unique to whites. I suspect, it is not. I suspect if the experiment were reversed, and you put the exact same children in the same situation in a primarily black neighborhood, the white children would be the ones catching the most flack." Surely this is a valid point? PS: I do not agree at all with Peterphd though. The tendency for cops to snuff out black lives with minimal excuse is palpable and real. |
The FBI and not the N.S.A or SS. |
SuperS1Panther:The terms in bold appearing in the same sentence only sicken me. I would have said more, but too tired. People like you will eternally deserve the Nigeria you get. Go on, cripple the third arm absent due process. Intimidate and bully all the Judges of the Highest Courts. Turn them to whimpering scared slaves. Of course after doing same to the Legislature. This is excellent democracy. I have a sneaky feeling that this is not the way Federal Judges in the US, UK or Germany will be handled. Something tells me in your old age you might yet complain about how this government was a dictatorship. And something tells me still that you will see no irony in all of this. Enjoy. |
KingEbukasBlog:Yes, very much - I have thought about it very much indeed; by way of a little history I once was very very passionately Christian, but this dissipated about the age of twenty/ early twenties. I have still thought about it more recently. The reason the question doesn't bother me is because I do not imagine that a Divine being such as God is, with its transcendent quality, will assess mere human spirits on their understanding, grasp or cognition of specific divine relationships of transcendental divine beings. I honestly believe that is too much to demand of any earthling - and if demanded, would appear an unfair and unnecessary demand. I would think that the purity of heart of an earthling is what should count in such a matter. And I believe that this is what was taught by Jesus (as conveyed in the Bible). In all such cases I always refer people to one of my all time favorite posts ever made on Nairaland - made by probably the wisest man ever to grace this forum, M_Nwankwo - https://www.nairaland.com/687376/true-meaning-love-nwankwo I have expressed similar views using the Parable of the Good Samaritan as a benchmark - https://www.nairaland.com/634923/wallace-cannot-good-god-does#8025566 |
