Politics › Re: Akande: Buhari Promised To Pick Tinubu As Running Mate In 2015, Then Reneged by delpee(f): 11:37am On Dec 11, 2021

https://www.thisdaylive.com/index.php/2021/12/10/akande-buhari-promised-to-pick-tinubu-as-running-mate-in-2015-then-reneged/

I read everything because I'm a student of politics.
My take away:
The man said "this position is for South West and in Yoruba, religion is none issue".
This implies that Yoruba leaders see VP of Nigeria as an ethnic property and not Nigeria. They believe the VP must serve the interest of South West and not that of Nigeria.
No wonder the in VP staff, you hardly find someone from another tribe.
It was evident from word go that Buhari is not a man of his own. He was always dragged into action and would always go with his tribe. This has not changed.
Adams Oshiomole has always been with Tinubu and he was rewarded with national chairman.
Same Tinubu was rewarded with Yomi Osibanjo, Speaker, Senate President, ministers of works, housing and power. FIR, Budget office, and juicy contracts.
So nobody should come and say "Buhari owes Tinubu". That's why other party members are spoilt for war because they have seen the Tinubu is greedy.
Finally, this book launch is ill timed. It will unsettle some power brokers. People like
OBJ, Buhari, Northern elders and some Yoruba elders.
Maybe it was done in a bid to force Buhari into supporting Tinubu, but a close look will tell you that Bisi Akande bare it all and isn't happy with the president.
I salute his courage.
A northerner in VPs office has debunked this notion that most of the staff there are Yorubas.
Career › Re: An MBA In Human Resources Or CIPM Certification? by delpee(f): 11:17am On Dec 11, 2021
HRprof:
If you want to practice as HR professional you will need CIPM license and other government licenses. So even if you have MBA you will still need Professional licenses. As a professional HR I will advise you do a course in HR Analytics rather than MBA since you already have M.sc . Why I said so is that it will help you grow your career adding analytical skill is highly demand job worldwide.
Good advice.

What makes them fake? They've identified with Ede all their lives. We run a patriarchal society so they can only be identified as Yorubas. Their mum who was Igbo is buried in Ede.
Crime › Re: I Sold Human Head For N25,000 - Ritualist Arrested In Oyo State Confesses by delpee(f): 1:41am On Dec 09, 2021
When are these knuckle heads going to realise that money rituals lead nowhere?

Yorubas say "oun ti a ko ba sise fun ko le pe lowo eni".(What you don't labor for will never last).
"Ise loogun ise". (Enterprise conquers poverty, there's dignity in labour.)
"Ile ti a fi ito mo, iri lo maa wo." ( A badly constructed house will collapse even with ordinary dew).
There are others in the same mold.
Pardon errors in translation if any.

In summary, our culture emphasises hard work, dignity, honesty, diligence and compassion. How people have become so heartless in their quest for money, through processes which will ultimately bring sorrow baffles me.

You totally ignored the cult aspect. Did the violent campus cults of these days exist in those days??
Yes they did but on a much lower scale. Initially, we had the Pyrates who never really disturbed us. They were actually disciplined and visible during Campus ceremonies trying to maintain order. They "sailed" at night but you could see them moving under street lights on campus. Things took a different turn around 1981 or thereabouts when other groups became prominent. Anyone in Unilag around June 1981 will remember the battle against the Pyrates who wanted to "sail" shortly before exams when people wanted to read. Pyrates Confraternity ceased to exist on campuses to prevent derailment and subsequently, cultism as is known today was banned because the new ones became violent. Sadly, it seems they still exist and have percolated down to the secondary schools.

It should be noted that the first set of diligent and disciplined traffic corps of Oyo State which was renowned for their efficiency was largely formed by the Pyrates with Prof Wole Soyinka as the leader. He was subsequently invited to do the same at FG level. That's the FRSC that we have today. A shadow of it's old self though.

Seun:
If a child is bullied in the sense that I have described e.g. if he is beaten by a senior or asked to kneel down or forced to run errand for seniors, then he can report to school officials. If they don't punish the perpetrator than he can tell his parents. The education ministry should set up an anti-bullying hotline that parents can call. If the education ministry does nothing then they can come to Nairaland and report it, and we will make noise until the perpetrator is suspended. This ban won't totally eliminate bullying but it will reduce it drastically. It will help many students.
It will help many students no doubt. Still, knowing our country, some of the privileged oppressors will still have their way.

I was in boarding school all through secondary up to A levels. I never had these issues probably because there were specific laws and school traditions in place to prevent bullying. All my siblings went to boarding schools too.

I remember that my younger brother complained that seniors often took his provision and sometimes his meals. He sometimes had to fetch water for some seniors but nothing really injurious to his health. That was a Fed. Govt. College.

It seems that serious bullying became rampant in the 90s and appears to have gotten so much worse. Parents have a huge role to play in all this. Watch/study your children so that you can easily notice changes in behaviour and comportment. Listen in a loving and friendly manner to get out necessary information from them. (I actually used to enjoy listening to school gists from my kids.) You learn a lot from that and know when it's time to speak to the authorities or move. A distant or carefree parent never gets to learn much till it's too late.

djblue007:
Dear Nlanders!

I am currently running three jobs together here in Ogun State with one of the jobs ending this December of not extended. The three jobs give me roughly 90k/per month without other benefits.
early this month I attended an interview with a popular NGO online, the outcome of which I just got notified today 30th November, 2021 to resume work on December 2nd, 2021 with 100k pay. This job is based in Niger state capital. They need me to accept the offer by replying affirmative o the notification mail before sending my contract letter.
I am in dilemma here. Hence your good advice is needed. Please note that I am still in Ogun at the moment. Thank you.
Niger state isn't safe right now. The Governor has said so several times.

Sad way to go for the kid.. The story tho sounds one kind. From my own POV it seems like initiation gone wrong. Secondly it might just be a case of bullying. They should allow police investigate properly. I hope the killers are brought to book and justice is served.

Rip kid
The question is why should a 12 year old be initiated into a cult in the first instance? Why should bullying be allowed? Who invited him to join a cult? Are cults allowed to thrive in the school?

Truly, may justice be served.

I'm thankful that they were arrested. Hopefully, they get the maximum sentence. Security men, amotekun et al need to do a lot more in this regard. The earlier this horrible crime is brought to an end, the better. It's so sad that anyone will be thinking of how to kill a fellow human being for money in these modern times.

Great pity! So traumatic. May God help her recover fully. Loving the child may be difficult for her considering the circumstances. Perhaps the child should be given up for adoption so that the memory of her trauma can fade off over the years.

I'm wondering why it's so difficult to monitor our forests with modern technology in place. The ritualists should be found and dealt with to prevent further occurrence of their inhuman activities.

Solar is awful, doesn’t last long and constantly needs sunlight and no clouds to function properly, hydro is a much safer and long lasting source of energy
Solar power when properly installed is a life saver. It has reduced my electricity cost. Depending on the installed capacity and the quality of the equipment, it can take a lot of load off the regular power source during the day when there's sunlight.

Certainly, hydro is more reliable when properly managed.

Politics › Re: What Do You Know About Igede Tribe In Benue State? by delpee(f): 9:10pm On Nov 27, 2021
LollySeaSide:
The Tiv and Idoma concepts are political rather than cultural or ethnic delimitations.
In Benue South (the zone otherwise called the Idoma zone), there exist the
- Idoma
- Agatu
- Igede
- Ufia
- Akweya
- Okporokpo (Politically placed under Ufia)
- Ugede
- Okpoto.

All these people speak different languages though some of them have noticeable similarities.

Even in the Tiv axis, there are the Etulo people in Buruku and Katsina-Ala who speak a language clearly different from Tiv.

Bottom line is that the Idoma nation is a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural and a multi-linguistic aggregation and should be seen as such with
each component maintaining its uniqueness in its own way.
Not so different from Yorubaland where there are very distinct dialects apart from the "central" Yoruba which is spoken more widely and in urban centres.

An Oyo man may not understand when an Ijebu, Ekiti, Ondo, Ijesha, Owo, or Egba man speaks. The modernised Oyo Yoruba is what unites everyone.

It's wise to unite against all odds.

I believe one of the greatest disadvantages of social media is that is allows many to display their bad attitude in public. I clicked on this write up so as to learn about the history of the Igedes. Instead the thread is filled with I sults thrown around and counter insults, while some are trying to prove their case.
I really wish we all can be a bit more mature to learn to tolerate divergent views from ours and use superior aguements to prove our claims and not insults. This small right up has now turned to a Biafra, Igedes, Idoma war.
Thanks for this. Exactly how I feel.
NL of old was more peaceful with a lot of educating and inspiring threads.
So much unnecessary bitterness beclouding people's views now.
