How we got to this level baffles me. Teenagers who should be in school or learning a vocation are now so fixated on making money by murderous means. They're so gullible and easily manipulated too. I saw a video of some young boys in pampers alone trying to get yahoo money at the ATM. Who tells them these ridiculous things? Another group was defecating on the road and using the poo to "butter" their bread! What kind of nonsense fills their brains? Perhaps, some involves organ trade in which case the boys are just tools. It's all so amazing and disheartening. Like this isn't the country I grew up in. Honestly, I just don't get it. |

Politics › Re: Don't Blame Buhari For Nigeria's Problem.. Yoruba Muslims Warn by delpee(f): 10:50pm On Jan 28, 2022 |
pinkPUSSY: Islamic advocacy group, Muslim Rights Concern, has urged Nigerians to resist the tendency of blaming President Muhammadu Buhari and other political leaders alone for the country’s state of affairs. Prof Ishaq Akintola, Director of the organisation, disclosed this in a statement on Friday.
Prof. Ishaq Akintola, Director of MURIC
He urged Nigerians to revisit the value system, claiming the society had lost its moral sanity. Akintola commended the judiciary for delivering a fair and just ruling on the case of a student of Toyon High School, Ere in Ado-Odo, Ogun State, whose parents were said to have incited thugs to beat up teachers for sending out their child from the classroom over an indecent hair style. The group maintained that such ruling by Magistrate B.O. Abdul Salaam of the Ado Odo Otta Magistrate Court was a depiction of fair treatment, stressing that the pronouncement had injected a heavy dose of confidence in the judicial system. The statement reads, “Magistrate B. O. Abdul Salaam of the Ado Odo Otta Magistrate Court recently ordered that parents of a student whose mother brought thugs to the school to beat his teachers be remanded in Abeokuta and Ilaro correctional facilities. “MURIC salutes the wisdom of this judge. His judicial pronouncement has injected a heavy dose of confidence in the Nigerian judiciary. He has also sent a strong message to unruly students as well as parents who condone indiscipline that a new sheriff is in town. “Students have become too daring in recent time if reports of attacks on teachers in various schools is anything to go by. It is shameful that parents nowadays indulge their children and pamper them in spite of their recklessness. “We must revisit our value system. We must change society but that change begins with every Nigerian. We must stop blaming our leaders alone, the police alone, the politicians alone. "We must realise that every Nigerian home has become a training base for all the evils of the world: immorality, indecency, corruption, laziness, excessive materialism, acrobatic impunity, articulated spirituality and gymnastic religiousity. Parents must up their game in loco parentis.”

Apart from working on projects that impacted positively on the people, the environment was neater and safer. He led by example.
I don't see how Fashola would have tolerated the unruly okadas and their owo mi da "friends."
Going down memory lane, Jakande did wonderfully well. We have Lekki today because of his foresight. He constructed the road to Epe which used to be accessed through Ikorodu/Ijebu Ode. LASU, Low Cost Estates, hospitals, Radio Lagos/TV and many more were his projects. Above all, he made it easy for the poor to go to school.
Marwa was also a good governor. Ikorodu Road was a major project he embarked upon. He managed the area boys so well too. Some of them changed their ways..Good for the society. |

davodyguy: Despite this, you just can't compare this chap with Ambode in terms of major infrastructure.
Here's the difference, Ambode actually started projects from 0 level to completion.
114 roads in 20 LGAs + 37 LCDAs. All modernized Bus stops from Lekki, to Iyana Oworo, to Oshodi, to Abule Ègbá, Ikeja, Alomosho were started from scratch and completed.
The flyover bridges at Ajah and Abule Ègbá were landmarks.
Airport Road, commissioned by Buhari
Oshodi Transport interchange.
I'm waiting for 30 major infrastructural projects started (not inherited) that Sanwoolu has completed himself.
Argue with facts and not sentiment
In terms of infrastructure 1st Fashola 2nd Ambode 3rd Tinubu LASG has a 30 year development plan. It's irrelevant who starts and completes which project. The key is keeping the eyes on the ball and making it move in the right direction, for the good of the people. Ambode tried but he lost sight of the ball and projects were delayed/abandoned unnecessarily. |

Kazzytman316: OP.... I can't let this thread slide without making an input, I needed to recover my Nairaland account just for this thread... Listen Carefully, We have Plenty folks out there in same condition as you and going through the thread, Nairalanders have said a lot of motivational words to you, Here's my my personal experience.
I Started betting in 2010 on Betway with foreign account, that was before 1960bet, Merrybet and now Bet9ja and rest comes in... I never thought I could loose myself until I migrate from Live sports bet to Virtual bet (AKA Ogbu Ngwa-ngwa), I got involved so much into this to a point I became known in every Bet shop in the city, This issue started from the mode of work I was doing then, I have a very good job and was good at it to a point it becomes less challenging to me plus I was heading my department at that location, I could resume anytime and leave the office anytime... As soon as I'm free in the office I would go out Betting on virtual... sometimes I'll make money form it but trust that money you won you'll definitely payback time 2-3 within 4 days. Immediately I receive salary, I would rush straight to the nearest Bet shop with the intention to triple my salary and live larger, I thought to myself that I'm smart and good at reading games.... ( That's Greedy Mindset) FAST FORWARD TO THIS FATHFUL DAY THAT CHANGED ME... I Woke one Sunday morning and the idea of some correct score entered my head (Every Hardcore Virtual pundits went Through this), I kick-start my Bike and went to this betting shop, coincidentally the cashier I met that was my street guy and we knew each real well so he started playing the game for me ( I was know for predicting correct score only) and I was winning to a point he was owing me around #24,000... but within 40 munities I started running into loss, before I could realize I'm already in debt of #72,000 excluding the 15k I brought I to the shop that morning.... That was my worst dark day, my street guy change am for me, embarrassed me, If I didn't pay him he may loss his job so to save the little respect he has for me I had to quickly auction my bike for #50k so as to offset my debt, because I couldn't borrow from anyone again, I'm indebt to couple of friends (At the time there was no Loan Apps then 2016)…. Man , When I got home empty, I started crying and beating myself.... That was the last day I gave up Virtual bet though its not the first time I was in that situation, I have been dragged a lot but THIS was the WORST.... The bottom line is till now I still Bet but never VIRTUAL anymore, it's no longer moving me at all. Each time I remember I was able to get over it, it gives me joy. OP, I'm sure you've been advised a lot by your love ones to stop but you didn't, It's normal because no one can make an Addictive gambler stop but HIMSELF.
These are the things I did that helped me... 1) I Aligned with my Regional Mgr. for a possible Transfer , boom it worked I changed Location ASAP 2) I got myself more busier with other things other than thinking of Virtual. 3) I developed new set of Friends. 4) Enroll for other certification, or Learn part-time Skills
Since then, I have been ever productive to myself and my Family (Still a Bachelor). OP, please go through everyone's opinion and advice I'm sure you'll find it very helpful. Very good advice! @OP Remember to start with God. You really need to be in tune with the spirit of God to banish all evil. Follow up other steps enumerated here and some other posts. God will deliver you from this misery. |

So many kidnappers have killed their victims. Perhaps if we had been more resolute about dealing with them over time, we would have some respite now. Those who kidnapped children and turned them to fighters and sex slaves are not any better yet they're pardoned. Probably that is seen in some other light. We really need a wholistic approach to stop this menace. |

Business › Re: I Just Got My Inheritance; I Need Your Advice by delpee(f): 10:37am On Jan 24, 2022 |
Don't rush into any business that you haven't learnt nor practised before. The money will disappear so fast!
Pending the time you'll make up your mind, go for bonds, dollar savings and mutual funds in a REPUTABLE organisation. Ensure that you keep your brother's money safe and secure till he decides on what he'll do with it.
Investment in property is good but can be dicey if you deal with the wrong set of people. Also building for rental income is no longer a guarantee for a steady inflow of funds. There's high rate of default due to the economic situation. For the future, you could buy a plot of land each in good estates without omo onile issues and plan to build over time. I hear Adron Homes is good at that. |

@OP You probably have to take heart and move on if she's unyielding. You did wrong no doubt. Not everyone readily forgives plus rape has a terrible effect on women...at least judging by stories of those affected.
What baffles me is why she stayed away from you for 2 months without any reason. Knowing why may give you an insight into what is going on now. Perhaps she was losing interest. Your sin then added fuel to the fire burning within her.
Let her be for a while. She needs to recover and know what she really wants. Be ready to accept whatever happens. You can't force her to move back if she doesn't want to. If she chooses to opt out, accept it, learn your lessons and pray for a better relationship in future. My prayer is that you're able to reconcile and you both learn to treat each other with love and respect. That's the best for your child as you also know. Best wishes. |
