I don't understand this. We're expected to queue at every bank and other financial institutions to fill forms again after all the hassle of BVN and National ID card? Why can't all these information be linked or are we using ancient computers and outdated software?

I'm just confused. huh

There are countless successful inter tribal marriages between Igbos and Yorubas just as there are numerous failed intra tribal marriages. Experience and exposure counts.
Politics › Re: Nigerian Co-Owned FINTECH, Esusu Raises $2.3 Million in fundings in USA by delpee(f): 9:40am On Sep 16, 2020
Esusu is the Yoruba traditional banking/cooperative thrift/insurance system which has been of great assistance to a lot of people in the lower and middle class cadres. It's usually done between a group of people who know themselves. I hope this modern version works in Nigeria. Lower cost of funds for the poor plus good financial planning.

The only disadvantage is that there may be defaulters along the line. That happens in regular banking too anyway.

Kudos to the guys.

On the reference to poverty -

Most people in the rural areas are getting poorer because they can't go to their farms. Insecurity is the major issue. No economic policy will resolve that for now. Throwing money at the problem will only provide temporary respite. Let's deal with insecurity first, everything else will fall in place.

Please Nairalanders,
Hear me out
There is a family near me about 7 children in number, the father is incapacitated, and the mum is late ...I wish I can help them though I'm a student but I try in my little way in buying snacks for the kids but I really want to help them but no funds.
Please if you're kind hearted like me and well to do please I would appreciate if help can reach them.
I can provide proof if you need proof.
Please, even if it's for the sake of the children, they're languishing in poverty. Like they are really dying down and thinning as the days go by.
Account number of the father is 2085604465(UBA)
I told the father about this and he was very grateful to me.
Please provide more details. People will verify and gladly assist. You may be linked to a journalist who will make it a feature story for credibility and greater impact. Nairalanders will gladly help too.

God bless you for your kindness and thoughtfulness.

kayjay69:
Very true

Big plus and a much needed project. It is only unfortunate that it may be arriving somewhat late and well overpriced.

Remember it was actually Obasanjo, on his way out, that commissioned the kick-off for this rail project. But my main grouse has always been, why we are often fixated on few projects and we are usually slow in executing/implementing.
Why spend 20 years on a single project, when you can spend same amount of time on multiple.

Nigeria is so underdeveloped that, even if we declare a true state of emergency in all sectors, it will take us not less than 50 years to catch up to an average 2nd world country. I say that with a lot of hope and optimism, others might disagree.
Thanks for reminding me that OBJ started the project. Nothing much happened thereafter until the YarAdua/GEJ era though.

True that we have a long way to go. If we avoid wasteful spending and focus on major infrastructural projects, we'll move at a much faster pace. Over pricing is a key issue too. May God open our eyes to do the needful soonest.

Both Innoson and Nord are assembled versions of Chinese Autos. It's a good effort all the same.

Still, the important thing is to increase the local content over time to boost our economy, create employment and lower costs of the vehicles. It's a win win for the country if properly managed over time.

My advice for people of the public is to be very careful of whom you relate yourself with around you, the stupid woman that gave the contract to the foolish guys is well known by Uwaila's parent but they didn't think she can do such to them. They just wasted the life of a beautiful lady for just no reason. People are too wicked my people.
There's still no certainty that she sent them. They earlier said it's the Pastor that asked them to kill her.
Politics › Re: Supreme Court Upholds The Right Of A Female Child To Inherit Her Dad's Property by delpee(f): 9:26am On Aug 27, 2020
A man should have the right to will his property to anyone he so chooses. Anyway, that's why the wise and wealthy Igbos will buy properties they wish to give their daughters in their names so there are no arguments.

Customs are not static. That's why we no longer live in family compounds and comply with a long list of dos and don'ts that infringe on personal rights and comfort. Of course, the good values of some of our customs are still greatly cherished.

Family › Re: I'm Tired Of My Wife, What Do I Do? by delpee(f): 10:24pm On Aug 25, 2020
newace:
Today, I told my wife to start feeding our 18 month old son sma baby milk once a day so he could take in all the necessary nutrients from the milk since he was never breast fed.

Note: he eats cerelac in the morning, yoghurt at 12 noon, Eba/Amala at 4pm and cerelac again in the night. I mentioned to her to find a way to feed him sma milk at least once a day but instead she started arguing with me.

What do i do?
This diet is poor for an 18 month old. The baby is old enough to eat properly. Milk is truly still very necessary. Try to feed your son playfully when you have the time. Allow him to eat with you if possible. Create a bond with him. As you get involved without complaining about your wife's attitude, she may be forced to change. Kids like trying new things and will relate well with anyone who provides the chance. Provide that opportunity since his mum is insisting on a fixed routine that won't yield good results.

abbasajao:
Good day experienced mummy here. I kindly need your assistance. I lost my wife during our first every baby birth. We have the baby(a girl) and she will be 3 months in few days time.
We have been feeding her NAN 1 since birth and up to this moment.
The NAN 1 seems not to be enough and feed her again. Please what other baby food can we start to giving her? having in mind that she has never taken breast milk before.
Sorry about the loss of your wife. May God keep you and your daughter safe and sound always.

In addition to NAN, you can give your baby Cerelac and pap with her baby milk. As she grows older, you can blend potatoes and mixed vegetables for her. Mackerel fish and boiled egg are great too for good nourishment. You may have to keep trying different combinations to arrive at the one she accepts willingly. At six months, she can take very soft amala (pure yam flour) and ewedu without stew to avoid pepper. Gradually other foods can be introduced but she needs to keep taking milk. Peak milk has for the different stages as she gets older.

May God help you all the way. May she always be a source of joy and blessing to you. Amen

Christianity Etc › Re: Primate Ayodele: No President, No Governor, Nobody Can Take Over My Church by delpee(f): 11:51am On Aug 25, 2020
The CAMA act is being looked at from the Church angle mostly but it does apply to Mosques, Clubs, Associations etc. It's a regular feature of more developed economies but our socio-cultural setting and religious values/style may make it difficult to implement without any stumbling blocks.

For instance, if someone builds a Mosque with the contribution of others who may have been appointed as Trustees, an adverse report by 1/5th of the members can result in the intervention of the CAC Registrar. In our society, if the Registrar at that point in time is a Christian, won't people raise eyebrows? Can anyone easily take over the running of Ogboni Club? Is it not possible for people to orchestrate circumstances to cause an intervention just to destabilise an organisation?

We need to be more careful in copying from other countries without giving due consideration to our peculiar circumstances.

The Ooni has a point. He has done a lot for the youth anyway. Programs that add real value to lives, provides good mentorship and sustainable progress are more reasonable. Giving due recognition to intelligence and enterprise makes a lot of difference not people lazing about all day.

Gulder Ultimate Search had some decorum and the participants learnt to survive under seemingly impossible conditions. There was another one which focused on enterprise. The groups had business tasks to deal with. Those are valuable lessons.

Huge sums of money gotten in a frivolous manner never really amounts to much in due course.

Absolutely right! They could also have stayed with relatives within town overnight.

I once lodged in an hotel overnight to attend an Uncle's funeral within Lagos. I couldn't risk moving from one end of town to another on a Friday morning. After Service of Songs on Thursday, I checked in and got to the Church within 5 minutes early the next morning. Aiye o le. Always wise not to gamble with Lagos traffic.
