PMB overthrew a democratically elected government before. That's treason. The law if implemented would have been death by firing squad. He's still alive today by grace and so should know better. He also called for a revolution when he lost an election leading to loss of lives. There were threats to make the country ungovernable and there was a lot of violence thereafter. The government of the day didn't arrest him. Besides Sowore's call for revolution by my understanding does not connote taking over the government. With which soldiers and arms will he achieve that? Or is it the 33000 voters in his support that will overturn the votes of millions? Let's get real. Fighting for a change in the way government runs it's business is a revolution which does not necessarily involve a change of those in charge. Sowore has always been an activist. We may not agree with his style or methods but he has a right to express himself. |

Why can't a multi national military task force get them out of the Island or wherever they are staying so we can have some peace all around? Since it involves other countries, a united force will do it better. |
Sofistcatdmoron:Unnecessary tribal rant! Google Oluyinka Olutoye MD for instance. |
Great guy! Greater successes ahead. Lucky that he’s operating in a good environment. If we had well equipped hospitals, many of our diligent doctors will perform amazing feats here too. |
RiyaGoddess:Wear what you have. You’re going to worship God not to impress any human being. |
Due to incessant attacks, life has been difficult for those in Shiroro LG of Niger State according to various news reports. An otherwise peaceful place really. Probably the attraction is it's closeness to the river. It seems they need more attention from security personnel. |

Sweeetheart:You obviously know nothing about Yorubas |
naptu2:Thanks. |
Both Abraham Adesanya and Isawo/Owutu roads are not by the edge of water. Is the actual bridge from Badore to Baiyeku/ Ofin in Ikorodu? Or it's partly a land bridge? I don't understand. ![]() |
This is very sad. May his soul rest in perfect peace. |
This is very unfair except if ABU has some other meaningful reason which I can't think of now. Perhaps she should do change of institution and try another university. That's to avoid victimisation if she gets into ABU. |
Nice one! Reminds me of the Jakande era when there were big ferries shuttling between Mile 2, Apapa and Marina. I pray that this works and is sustainable irrespective of changes in government. |
People are missing the point. Restructuring makes a lot sense in our dispensation no doubt mainly because of our different cultures and aspirations. Unfortunately the problem is that it may not solve our issues ultimately if we don't change our ways. How many of us have been able to get our representatives at all levels of government to comply with the terms of appointment? Let's look at a typical scenario that runs across our nation... An LG worker who lives in a single room suddenly builds a mansion in the neighbourhood with other investments scattered all over town. People know his income and newly acquired properties but turn a blind eye to his excesses because of petty favors. He becomes the toast of local musicians and every supporter's ATM for the most flimsy reasons thereby buying their conscience. No one questions how he gets the money. They're happy receiving the token gifts and celebrate their "helper". The pot holes get bigger, mairuwa remains the water supplier, access to good health care is elusive and the schools are dysfunctional. When things get really bad, he diverts attention to "those above". People swallow the bait, vent their frustration for a while and continue suffering and smiling. When EFCC tries to pick up the guy, it becomes a matter of "na awa brother, na awa money, wetin concern dem"! ![]() In summary, we need to purge ourselves of our primordial interests, greed, unfocused and unprincipled attitude, lack of responsibility, accountability and transparency. The politicians know and play on this. If we learn to hold politicians responsible for their actions or at least come together as one to condemn their actions, there'll be more development, progress and peace in the economy. The need for restructuring will reduce since the real problems arise due to lack of fulfilment in the provision of basic needs. |
Same way Zamfarans ended up with Lead poisoning. Why can't the States be allowed to control their resources? People are rendered poor by illegal miners who add no value to the communities they operate in. |
Kudos! I continue to pray that he succeeds. He's yet to hire teachers though so the wage bill may rise. He should consider introducing minimal land use charge especially in the urban areas to avoid expensive loans in the long term and to raise more funds for much needed infrastructure. Just 2000 naira per house will yield and huge sums considering the large number of houses in Ibadan and other urban centres. It should be nited that high bills will not augur well for peace and compliance. |
There was a case of someone talking about dogs and baboon. ..war more or less ( I can't remember the exact words) ...which led to the loss of lives especially corpers then. Was that not suggesting violent revolution? |
That's rice, beans and gari. There's no groundnut there. |
Many paedophiles now hide under some fake Pastor title to cover up their criminal activities. Shameless beings! |
Story, story! It wasn't her responsibility to pay his salaries. They just saw a weak target. Greedy souls! They're heartless, unconscionable irritants who deserve to die. |
Meanwhile we're about to grant open doors to all kinds of people through the visa free policy. I wonder how this will keep out terrorists and improve on our security situation. |
delzbaba:Says someone who has not signed up to defend the nation. Much appreciation to the great men who are giving up their lives to save us from total destruction. May their souls rest in perfect peace. May God comfort, uphold and open doors of favor for their families. This is most disheartening/depressing. Lord save us by your mercy. Grant us your amazing grace to see us through these trying times. Amen |
I just feel so sad reading this. Real agony for the little girl. Sadly there are so many young girls being defiled by fathers, uncles, cousins, friends and neighbors. All is buried in deep silence in most cases with the child being traumatized. It’s so disheartening that so many nut heads are in our midst endangering children’s lives. |
Hmm! Yet we continue to quietly absorb more taxes to make all this possible. ![]() |
One can get married at a Local Govt. Registry that operates under the auspices of the Federal Registry. The certificate obtained there is all you need. That can be followed up with Church wedding/blessing at no extra cost. You don't need another certificate from the Church under the law. However marrying in Church/Mosque signifies that you are married under the tenets of religion. What we call Introduction and Engagement/Traditional wedding is also valid under the law. Cases relating to this are handled by Customary Courts in line with the various traditional practices and culture. |
All I want to know is how Sharia has helped Zamfara and other Northern states adhering strictly to it. Has the poverty index improved? Is the standard of living better? Are the states more peaceful and the people less corrupt? The earlier we face the core issues affecting our lives, the better. |
MadamT:Thumbs up madam for doing a good job unlike some other parents whose kids imbibed the street gang culture with the attendant violence and frustration all around. Naija values keep most children on the good path if diligently and warmly taught. God bless your family more. Anthony Joshua had his rough patches but one can see the effect of his parents unrelenting work on him. |
Clown! |
Really? Nothing on that in the news. |
mohlanforex:Great man indeed! |
God bless Prof. Lai Olurode for doing what is expected of a good lecturer. May his children always meet with favor everywhere they go. May the writer also attain great heights and be a blessing unto others. If we have many people like this, our nation will be better off. The youth need mentors not tormentors! |
