Every South West state can draft laws to set up Amotekun if the word "Regional" is the problem. As long as they operate in every state, the wishes of those living in the South West will have been met.

10% is even much. 2 days ago, I was on Benin bypass expressway. Before we got to abudu, there were herdsmen on the highway, doing their thing. I've never been so shocked in my life. The bus I was traveling in had to stop to join others on the long queue and waited. The driver said such an attack was a commonplace there....so we had to wait until they were done with their victims, after which all the vehicles hit the road to continue their journey. I spotted 3 fully armed mobile policemen at their check point located a few meters away from the scene. They just pretended as if nothing happened as they couldn't near them. What a country!
shocked So why is anyone complaining about Amotekun then? If Police will not protect us, people will always look for an alternative.
Politics › Re: Amotekun Will Affect Nigeria's Unity - Arewa Consultative Forum by delpee(f): 9:21pm On Jan 18, 2020
Just wondering why people are afraid of a group of vigilantes which already exists in towns and villages but are now to be properly coordinated. As someone explained. .it's just like many people pulling their various maiguards together to form a team for the whole neighbourhood.

Except if there's something beyond the protection of lives and property included in the law setting them up.

Safety is key if there must be progress.

This amotekun should be a shame to the police department. If they were doing their job properly this would not have been a big issue.
They try their best within the limited personnel and resources available to them. Sadly, it’s not good enough.

Politics › Re: Amotekun: Who Ordered Registration In Churches? - MURIC Raises Alarm by delpee(f): 10:28pm On Jan 17, 2020
Since when did Churches start issuing birth certificates?
How does that relate to Amotekun which comprises of mainly hunters, agbekoyas and local vigilantes? They’re obviously a mix of Muslims, Christians and traditionalists. Gani Adams is a Muslim. The head of Agbekoyas name is Raji.

Muric should go and rest biko. He doesn’t know what people are going through in the villages and farms especially.

Amumaigwe:
If now a kind Igbo man based in Onitsha had picked him up, out of compassion, to give him a decent living, this same elites using them for ritual will start shouting at toof top as if they have any good plan for them.
You don’t pick up any child out of “compassion” without the knowledge of his parents or the state via legal adoption or guardianship rights. It’s a criminal offense.

Children have rights under the law.

He should ask for the list of agbekoyas, hunters, vigilantes et al.

Is it even possible to do a recruitment of only Christians in Yoruba land? Those who have suffered in the hands of criminals are only Christians abi? The guy sounds like a saboteur.

Politics › Re: We Have Capable Hands To Work In Amotekun — Fulani Group by delpee(f): 12:28pm On Jan 16, 2020
Unfortunately we don’t have the same culture. Every aspect of the true Yoruba lifestyle is deeply rooted in culture and tradition. That’s why we have generations of warriors, hunters, blacksmiths etc who play specific roles in securing our towns and villages. The Olodes play a significant role in the security system.

We have enough hands for the job anyway. All they need to do is to comply with the rules in their States of residence for every ones peace of mind. Everyone is welcome as long as they abide with the laws of the land.

We sincerely need Amotekun. We want to be able to travel peacefully across the South West like before. Visiting our far flung towns and villages is no longer easy. Those in the villages whose only means of livelihood is farming are being terrorized and rendered poor. Sadly, I don’t know of any conviction to date in respect of farm destructions.

As for grazing on another persons land without permission, the Bible forbids it and I don’t believe that the Quran permits it. They should concentrate their efforts on educating their people so they can live happily with others.

Surprising that there’s no news on arrests made or efforts being made to probe the matter. Same way a LASTMA official was killed in the same axis in broad daylight and nothing happened.

Is it really impossible to survive without these bikes?

Is there nothing in the constitution that refers to the right to secure one's life and property? I don't think this is about territorial matters.

So what's Hisbah? Is it not community policing funded by Kano State Government and affecting lives of all Kano residents?

Before people start saying its only for Muslims, we should note that bottles of beer are seized and destroyed irrespective of the owner or consumer (VAT on alcohol is acceptable though).

In a decade or less, if Chines influence in Nigeria is not curtailed, large percentages of Nigerian land WILL be owned by Chinese nationals, who will waste no time in using blood money to bribe their way to the very pinnacle of political power in Africa, subsequent to which they will decimate all lands so colonized, by economic means.

You're right. That is what is happening in some countries across the world today. There was lead poisoning in Zamfara some years ago.

There are documentaries on their worldwide exploits to alert African governments especially. Sadly those whose pockets are full of bribes will not listen.

Mostly the South South and some parts of the South West. The problem with the latter is that most of the families live for parties, so even when the bride price is cheap, you might not escape the reception.
In the South West, the brides family is responsible for hosting the guests. In modern times, the grooms family often supports the Brides parents especially if they both expect large numbers of people.

Politics › Re: Ikoyi, Victoria Island Clean-Up Begins, 36 Vehicles Impounded by delpee(f): 12:20pm On Jan 11, 2020
Some Ikoyi roads are full of mechanics, bukas and road side traders. Of course the food joints are there to serve the mechanics mainly. Those roads are always littered with plastic bottles, nylon packs etc.

The truth is that mechanic workshops shouldn't be located in residential areas. The oil, grease et al discharged on the ground easily permeates the soil and could affect underground water. Lagos State is right on this.

Traders are allowed to use kiosks within compounds I think but trust our people to prefer the display of goods right on the road. The kiosk/shop then serves as warehouse. smileyThat happens all over Lagos anyway. We really need to do things right.

Apart from Bank road, it seems the mechanics and traders on some less popular roads always survive the onslaught...or maybe they go the Naija way. wink
Celebrities › Re: Dakore Egbuson And Olumide Akande's Marriage Crash Rumour by delpee(f): 10:39pm On Jan 10, 2020
victorian:
I'm not surprised.
I was expecting it anyways

I'm surprised they lasted this long!

.when a carefree woman is overly controlled in an aristocrat marriage, just to please everyone in the marriage especially the parents of the man. Just give her some few years, all hell will let loose if the parents of the guy, do not wear off their hold in the son's marriage.

Red flag I saw : She cut off her dada, that one alone ehn? It's finished in that marriage. Even though she agreed to cut it off. One huge part of her died already on that spot but the husband will not know the damage he has done to her inner being, just to please family and make her look the ideal wife in the eyes of the public.

Then making her a full time housewife? When she's a busy bee? So someonelse will not snatch her from him? I laugh in Chinese!

So tell me, Was she not snatched in the end? She couldn't even wait to be divorced properly before dating another guy, whom I believe will be a free spirited guy.

Guys what you fear most in marriage and try everything possible to make sure it doesnt happen, will eventually happen. It's life. Don't allow your fears over take the running of your once loving and smooth relationship before u guys get married.

All I see here is a free spirited woman who has set herself free from bondage called marriage. She thought she will be free like when she was single. She didn't know she will tied to all sorts of rules and regulations by the family. What a shock for her!

She's not going back to that family again she's gone for good.

Everything is not all about money.
Cutting off her dreads was her choice as she explained in an interview a while ago. She said her husband didn't want her to cut it. The interview debunked a lot of rumours which are being circulated here.
