You have said it all. yes, the cbn appointed the present mgt but greed and selfishness has blindfolded them that they can't act right again-an average nigerian's habit. The cbn did not hint them on this move at all. One of them went to abj to get update from sls but did not succeed.
If not that the apex bank took them unawares, they would have further dampened the reserves of these concerns.
I actually wanted to say that too but didn't want to generalise as the other appointed Managers did well to stabilise the bank and got them in a stable condition, and maybe some just didn't succeed because of the level of rot and in-fighting

This same thing happened at the beginning as well, one went to Ota to meet obasanjo before rushing out of the country when the axe was coming that's after several adverts in the newspapers- how tacky is that!!!

Sun of god:
A Pension Fund is there to Fund Pensioners - not infrastructure development.

It should not be risked or gambled with.

No doubt certain western countries invest these funds to make more money - but this often backfires.

Just look at the worldwide stockmarkets where pension funds have traditionally been invested.

When these speculators (Sanusi in this instance) loose the money its never them that suffer.
That's because they more often than not use it for this fancy 'financial instruments' they themselves never understand; this instance someone is calling for it to be used for much needed infrastructure, at the moment it seems its only being manager ultra conservatively in govt bonds, I think we need to start looking outside the box a bit, massive unemployment, massive infrastructural deficits

I hope it isn't just sitting idle and mostly unused. That is what, $13 billion or so? You could build a lot of miles of toll road with that type of money. . .
You know!! we have that and we are jumping at foreign loans, Toll roads will earn money forever!!!!
Industrial funds, Agriculturl loans, pensioners will go to bed with two eyes closed and their feet in the air!!

Its funny how despite the fact that the UK is very anti-immigrant now with respect to foreign students finding a job after graduation, some still insist on going to that country to spend their hard earned cash. There are many more good universities in other European countries like the Scandinavia etc. Anyways wish you all the best if your decision is to study in Scotland when you have other choices, think about it, it might cost you a little more at the moment to go to Canada for example, but Canada has very good pro-immigration policy especially if you studied there. I think you should make your decision based on your Long term goal. I won't even recommend the US to you because Job prospects for international students are just as bad as in the UK. Just my One cent!
how are scandanivian Countries with respect to their immigration laws? Whats the cost of living in Scandanavian countries? How are certificates/experience from those countries accepted by the Nigerian labour market?

Some students just want to be students not immigrants

Your bloody crazy!!

That the CBN should raid the pension pot of Nigerian's who have worked hard all their lives to invest in infrastructure?

How about you consider the position of pensioners before making such a ridiculous comment.
What do you think pension funds in other countries are used for?

@ ekt at the moment it seems there no clear cut instruction for what to do with the funds, i think some % were used to support 'housing' though

Stop deceiving yourself. Did we not receive similar text in 2009? What happened afterwards? Nigerians should stop being naive. The degree of inconsistency in Sanusi's policy is capable of crumbling the economy. First, it was 30th september and now he woke up from his islamic banking razzmatazz and nationalised the banks. Haba! Sudden shocks such as this gives deadly blow to the entire system.
Inconsistencies Such as?
Will anybody in their right mind really wait till a 'sept 30th to act? i mean its not rocket science, will a company being carried along by taxoayers money since 2009 suddenly find partners in 2 months? Or you want the people to clean out on 29th then wait for CBN action the next day?

Sanusi is obviously a bad manager. So he is CBN governor to be revoking licences? A CBN governor should be able to manage those banks and advise them on what to do to remain afloat. This is just like the scenerio when Bush took over from Clinton,  Lol Sanusi is Bush while Soludo is Clinton
Why dont you allow others to educate you or make things clearer for you, if you still arent sure what is happening or even the functions of the CBN
Actually this is a scenario like when Obama took over from Bush- The global economy was in a stable condition, cheap funds were available then now someone has to deal with the clean up, unemployemeny has risen to an all time high in the USA, Banks are still utting thousands of Jobs till date, does tat mean Obama and his financial gurus are to blame for not being able to stablise the economy ??

I think they should renegotiate the media contract so some local stations have a share, or they can get a license from supersport who are investing the the whole thing with their own money alone, even the cameras and cameramen were from South Africa

the Local media to be honest will make mouth about not getting the rights but they hardly have the capacity ordinary broadcasting a conference is a big task for them

i have queried the definition of "healthy" earlier on what authority do you pronounce that sumo wrestlers are not healthy .
i am advising him to gain weight by fat and fluid retention and you claim muscle is "better and healthier" where is the evidence .
i also said that increasing muscle mass (often associated with fat loss) doesn't necessarily =weight gain quite often the reverse occurs and the final point  is a well developed pectoral e.g. or other  well defined  muscle as observed from the outside  could  bbe 50% fat embedded in the muscle  tissue  as seen  when the individual ages or stops training. this is all rather basic histology and it is clear you are just rabble
unless the poster is taking steroids  or is severely  malnourished how will he gain 15% body weight in muscle in the time stated
the correct english word is "suit" not "fit".
My response have been largely in response to those advising him to go for burgers/junk and alcohol star beer until you replied after my comment with your mr universe wisecrack

commonsensical authority mate!!
sumo wrestlers are not healthy if they just a 20 year old that wants to gain weight, sumo wrestler wont come to a largely Nigerian forum to ask these question

what time was stated by the Op Mr GP? I have given my comments based on personal experience

Make the best of your opportunities now especially as you are not paying the fees, as shushu said it's all about individuals, take extra class, speak to professionals in the know and next time plan well ahead!!!

Making quick decisions is always hit and miss!! make the most of the environment

I have absolutely no discriminatory bone in my body, but at the masters level, you are not going to be TAUGHT as many assume, you are there to share your professional knowledge and network-this is exactly what you will not get in RGU with that percentage of nationals in your class.
You also will probably not get the experience from your fellow colleafues as majority of them will be crossing over from other fields all trying to get into oil and gas, so many of your colleagues will be from the finance sector etc.In my opinion that is an extreme waste of money (i say again) at the masters level where you should be meeting other professionals.
Very true most 'oil and gas courses' have a lot of Nigerians in there for obvious reason most especially for non-core oil and gas course with candidates from varied background like everyone caught the oil and gas from abroad bug

^^^

Why do people always assume small efficient companies cant buy out 'larger' companies? anyway

TORONTO - Exile Resources Inc. (TSXV:ERI) has struck a deal to buy oil exploration licences in Nigeria from Oando PLC , a Nigerian-based energy company.

In return, Exile said Tuesday, the Canadian company will pay 100 million of its shares to Oando after a planned share consolidation.

The leases are a combination of producing, development and appraisal and exploration assets and focus on oilfields onshore and offshore Nigeria.

"We are very excited about this proposed transaction with Oando to build the leading indigenous upstream oil and gas company in Africa and believe this will produce great value for our Exile shareholders," Stan Bharti, Exile's chairman, said in a release.

The deal is subject to a definitive agreement, which the two companies will try to negotiate.

Exile and Oando are joint venture partners on Exile's Akepo oilfield in Nigeria.

In trading on the TSX Venture Exchange, Exile shares fell 1.5 cents to 7.5 cents, a drop of 16.7 per cent.
I like Nigerian newspapers sha, they are very 'erm' patriotic and they usually just print what the company sent them direct! grin

Oando, in a statement on Tuesday, said the two companies “are pleased to announce that they have entered into a term sheet dated July 28, 2011, providing for, subject to the completion of satisfactory due diligence by both parties and other conditions, the acquisition by Exile of certain interests of Oando in respect of Oil Mining Leases and Oil Prospecting Licenses (Upstream Assets) in exchange for 100 million post-consolidation common shares in the capital of Exile.”
perhaps just an exchange, exile will do upstream, oando will get more money to strengthen their core operations

Muscles mass is better than fat mass, muscle is weight too you know!

If you are going to be eating 6 times a day you wouldnt want to have a beer belly just because you want to put on weight- if you are putting on weight without increasing your lung capacity or strength you will feel the effect

My training
I was totally a barrack boy. I was brought up by a military man and I went to military school too. I have an experience about all these things. I won’t say I don’t have knowledge about these things; I have knowledge of it very, very well. So, that is why I was able to do it. Aside, I am a judoka and wrestler; an Olympic champion and I have been practicing. I have to apply all the techniques I know about self defense. That was what saved me. I am an Olympic wrestler, a current champion in the Olympic in Judo and Wrestling. I have won about 30 gold medals.

On 2 June, the Anambra State Police Command foiled the kidnap of the former State chairman of the Progressive Peoples Alliance (PPA), who is also a former Chief Whip of the State House of Assembly, Hon. Frank Anthony Igboka, in Anambra State.

An eight-man gang had seized Igboka near his home in Nimo, Njikoka Local Government Area, and bundled him into one of the black Sport Utility Vehicles (SUV) they were using for their operation. However, at Neni junction in Anaocha Local Government Area, the fleeing gang spotted a police checkpoint. Their frantic attempt to make a quick U-turn gave the former lawmaker, who is heavily built, an opportunity to struggle with his captors in a bid to bolt from the vehicle.

In the struggle, he fell off the vehicle, with one of the kidnappers tumbling down with him. He succeeded in seizing the kidnapper’s AK-47 rifle with three magazines which had fallen off him, but the hoodlum was able to jump back into the SUV as it sped off, before the police arrived.

Narating his experience, Igboka said: “I was driving my (Peogeot) 406 vehicle when these people swooped on me, dragged me out of the vehicle and drove off. So, on getting near Neni junction, they sighted a police check point and turned immediately. Before then, I had noticed that they were jittery and I started to struggle with them inside the vehicle”.

“Luckily, I fell off the vehicle with one of the kidnappers. But the boy ran into the jeep and they sped off”.

He said: “My brother, I have no mouth to talk to you now.The glory should go to God first. I thought I was in a dream land within those few minutes before the police arrived”.

The Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, Mr Murktar Ibrahim, confirmed the incident to newsmen. He gave the number of the AK47 rifle recovered from the kidnappers as 1993-AFA3254.

Call him super civilian and you may not be wrong for it is only an extraordinary man that could prove wrong the popular saying by the late pillar of sports, Chief M.K.O Abiola that only a mad man would fight with bare hands a man brandishing a gun.

Hon. Frank Igboka, former chief whip of the Anambra State House of Assembly on June 2, was faced with a life-threatening situation when he was abducted by gunmen believed to be kidnappers. But with a warrior’s heart and in a Rambo style, he without anything confronted his abductors and in the process, over-powered them and seized one of their AK47 riffles.
