It's the same old defensive responses. "go back to your horrible Naija if you don't like it" blah blah blah. If I had time to waste, I'd quote them for you. It's Pitiful
thats not defensive, that's candid advice!! cool

you hear people complaining "I've lived in this country for over 15 years blah blah blah. . ." what are they still doing there then if they don't like it

Still pending, how long now? The most infuriating thing is that this bill was actually inherited from the last administration so is not like it was a sudden surprise. Obasanjo cleverly refused to sign it because of the implications it has. In about a week the motion to increase salary was passed!! So you can see how painful it is when Yaradua now comes and talks about fighting corruption and this bill has not yet been signed. What are they still reading? If the government was actually genuine about fighting corruption we won't be here discussing the "pending" of this bill. If Yaradua came out and said he does not want to fight corruption then fine, it would be to Nigeria's detriment but at least we have honesty and he is then accepting he hasn't got the guts and is cowardly. But to go on about "fighting corruption" and doing nothing, with and AGF that seems to defend corrupt politicians is just simply a spit in the face and it hurts and simply shows an alarming side of Yaradua's character we might have to be worried about. All the things he said he would do during his swearing in, emergency in power sector, electoral reforms, FOI bill, etc, anyone please, has he done any of them or laid down any feasible or concrete plans towards achieving anything. Hate to sound like a broken recors but this is ludacris.
unfortunately you do sound like a broken record especially with the other LMAO dude that follows you around(how irritating is that?)

I don't know if you get your news from nairaland but if you've actually been following the news you would know that there are committees working on this already you don't exactly expect the committees to research and come to a conclusion to forward to the president within one week do you?

All the things he has promised to during his campaign? what are these things actually ?and what time frame did he give? did he promise to do all these thing within the first year in office?

there should be a sense of urgency but I think you lot are being overly unrealistic!!!

President Umaru Yar’Adua has directed the Minister of State for Transportation in charge of Aviation, Mr. Felix Hyatt, to investigate reports of maltreatment of Nigerian passengers by foreign airlines.

The President, according to a source in the Presidency, was particularly miffed at an incident that took place on March 27, 2008, in which British Airways allegedly ordered over 100 Nigerians off its London–Lagos bound flight.

The passengers were reportedly protesting the brutal treatment of a Nigerian deportee aboard the flight.
The source said that Yar’Adua also directed the Aviation Minister to officially notify all foreign airlines operating in the country that the Federal Government would no longer tolerate the maltreatment of Nigerian passengers aboard their aircraft.

The source added that Yar’Adua expressed disgust at the nonchalant attitude of British Airways officials in response to the incident.

The President, it was learnt, also asked the minister to furnish him with a report of the development on the completion of the investigation.
The source explained that the President had so far not received any official report on the British Airways incident, and was only informed by reports in the media.
The source said, “The President is said to be concerned by the recent resurgence of complaints about the poor treatment, discrimination and downright abuse meted out to Nigerians by some foreign airlines operating in the country.

“The President has also directed the Minister to make it absolutely clear to all foreign airlines operating in Nigeria that under no circumstance will his administration tolerate the subjection of Nigerian passengers to less than acceptable standards of treatment.”
In another development, the President on Tuesday telephoned Lagos lawyer and human rights activist, Chief Gani Fawehinmi (SAN), in London to convey his personal best wishes to him on the occasion of his 70th birthday anniversary.

shut up
siena is anyone forcing you to boycott or sign petition? or why is this disturbing you so much? are you a shareholder or something?

I've seen the way members of the NPF treat the very citizens they're employed to protect - in the course of them making "arrests", many Nigerians have died, or been maimed. Yet, how many Nigerians complain about that? How many Nigerians boycott NPF services? How many petitions to get the current bent police Administration out?

the only thing i believe in is results i don't believe in hard work or plans and as per results i believe this guy (yaradua) has failed.
nigeria is a country that cannot afford to move at a step by step pace we have to jump steps because we are really behind time.
its like someone comes into sch at the middle ofthe semester and expect to read at the same pace as someone that came at the beginingof the semester
can't be done. nigeria is like d student that came to school at the middle of the semester
did you read your post at all?

i wonder if one will be able to compare OBJ first year with Yaradua's
I think Abdulsalam probably benefited the most from OBJ's every body must chop policy

see using a whole year to review the situation on ground it is not the best especially when things are getting worse. you must agree with me that as at when obj left last may and now the economy of the country to a common man is worse. no price of anything has remained the same. diesel was 80.00 per liter now it is 105.00. no 5.00 buscuit and u say he is reviewing common. arent they both (yaradua and obj) from the same party. didnt they have a common goal. or was he just decieving us in his manifesto? nothing now is actually better.

go to the streets and see the no of prostitutes we have, how many robbers we have etc. this is the reflection of the kind of govt. yaradua is having. people have not been paid pension since jan. and u say he is reviewing. so because of due process people shld die of starvation abi? common lets be real. we want nothing but action.

for a president that close at 6pm from office (this i know and i am sure of) or that has been out of office for a week now is not fit for this country. nigeria needs a 24hr(if it cld be mo) monitoring by the president so lets be realistic and just tell yaradua to work.

so far on my score card of yaradua he has F
wow, you mean tehyve increased or decreased? na wa o instead of contributing to the economy you are busy counting prostitute grin

you see in nigeria it seems when oga is not around people don't have common sense? so whenever the president is not in town not happens? i wonder what happens when jim ovia is not in town

No. Would you buy a 30 years old car for the price of new. No. It is like the story of transcorp. I hear say nairaland, get more people than transcorp cell phone, So who would buy it it at high price. Nobody. The equipment you are trying to sell are old and useless. Most of them do not work. You see, since IBB period we have put in more money into the useless refineries which is enough to build 5 brand new ones.

Now if you get old car , which dey give you problem, my brother you go continue to put money into or you buy new one??
But the same useless refinery is now working at about 70% capacity after real maintenance if its old and useless why will anyone want to buy it? If the refineries are to be sold now they will be sold at a higher price almost triple the give away price

http://www.smh.com.au/news/world/new-airline-for-failed-asylum-seekers/2007/03/14/1173722517212.html
So vast has the number of deportees from Europe become, that two enterprising businessmen have hatched an extraordinary plan - a new airline exclusively for failed asylum seekers.

Asylum Airlines is set to be operative within three months, complete with padded rooms for troublemakers and meals - presumably with a halal option - for passengers.

The flights will journey around Europe, picking up failed asylum seekers from various countries and then dispatching them back to their home nations around Africa, the Middle East and Asia.

Austrian deportation lawyer Hermann Heller and Austrian aviation consultant Heinz Berger told the Daily Express newspaper the new airline is in negotiations with several governments across Europe.

It was being promoted as a cost-efficient option for governments compared to the current arrangements on board commercial flights, with Britain reportedly spending STG315,000 ($A776,900) recently to deport just 15 Iraqis.

"Here in Austria, every time a deportee is sent home on a regular flight, they need three seats, not just for the deportee but for the policemen on either side," Mr Heller said.

"Many airlines have already stopped taking asylum seekers home because of unpleasant scenes.

"With a professional service the deportations will be faster, chains will not be needed and the deportees can enjoy a meal."

The planned flights will have guards, medical staff and a representative of a human rights group on board, though there is no immediate news of plans for inflight entertainment or a frequent-flyer scheme
at last, these people get sense o! I reckon normal airlines might try to boycott this plan, they make so much money from carrying deportees

The Same thing today when Ikechukwu's new video "Wine Am Well" came 3rd is still the same South Africa. This just gotta stop undecided and Fast!!!!

this is not a very good reason, financial commitments are not linked with your pay,
your qualifications, skills, experience and market rate are. its up to you to control
those personal commitments
Texcee (f) , the award in kaduna is a shame. Look all over the world govt are gettingout of business. Nigeria govt should. LET TALK THE TRUTH TO OURSELF. The 24 million dollar should have gone to development of other sector of Nigeria like education and road. if they sell the kaduna plant. Look president Yar adua is making the same mistake obasanjo did , he he also started by awarding contract which NIGERIA CONTRACTOR . we all know what they do. out of this 24 million, 12 million would have been paid has bribes, And I said so before this is the reason some people want all company sold to return back to govt, So that they CAN KEEP ON AWARDING CONTRACT AND COLLECTING BRIBE FROM THIS CONTRACTOR.

This is why i said that president Yar adua need good people around ,I have said I am willing to go back to nigeria and help president Yar Adua with the energy/power sector. I still they wait for Oga Yar Adua calls.
you don't sell things that don't work-not at a proper price anyway, who is going to buy a car without tyres from you? the refineries were given away by Obasanjo. Any lets be honest most of people don't want to refine oil in nigeria, so if they can't sell it at a good price the govt should run the thing and provide oil for the people, at least they would strip it like they stripped the ajaokuta steel company, and remember what is happening with nitel these so called private professionals can't even pay workers since November 2007!!
