When Obi joined PDP, APGA was basically supporting PDP.

So it was only sensible for him to have left APGA for PDP.

Your last line was one of my thoughts.

I figured, there could only be 3 reasons why Osibanjo is contesting.

1. Tinubu asked him to contest so he can step down for Tinubu at the last minute thus increasing the relevance of Tinubu. (Do you know the reputation you build from having a VP step down for you?)

2. Buhari asked him to contest because he plans to hand over to him.

3. He has grown some balls and wants to challenge Tinubu's hold and power.

I feel number 1 is the most probable reason followed by number 2.

But in a few days time, we will know.

The sentiment of a wasted vote is the real problem.

You think, "it will be a wasted vote" and a couple of people think the same too, before you know it. We have low turnout because the majority of the people think it useless to even cast their votes. And Bam! The problem continues.

Kidnapping for ransom is very easy to handle. The ransom is the bait. Get a drone airborne and monitor the movement as the ransom is paid. Once the victim has been released, you attack the criminals.

Just follow the money from a distance. And you'll nab the whole kidnapping ring. Pick them off one by one even before they know that they have been made.

You also have to consider that elections has changed over the years. Who would have thought an incumbent president would lose in 2015?
The election that led to Yar'Adua's emergence was rigged. He mentioned it.
You can't rig elections that easily these days.
Another thing you need to consider is the opponents.

If APC drops anyhow candidate as their flag bearer, I assure you that their incumbency will not save them.

The 2015 election was won by APC because Jonathan was betrayed by those he thought were working with him but were working against him.

Elections in Nigeria historically are not won by votes, but by rigging. You must rig to win or rig to not be rigged out.

Osinbajo should just withdraw from the race. He made the first mistake by allowing himself to be dragged into the race.

It is not too late.

Left to me, no delegate from Ogun State should vote for him especially, Ijebu delegates. Since they are talking about handpicking of candidate, my advice for him is to withdraw from the race. I believe he will listen to voice of reason.

I always believed that Osibanjo will step down for Tinubu at the last minute. It was scripted.

But I could be wrong. In which case,he will earn some of my respect for having some balls.

Buhari has a preferred candidate. Who will it be?

And that's the person that will become the flagbearer irrespective of whether the primaries hold or not.

Tinubu is confident he will win the primaries, and doesn't want to hear about a consensus candidate. What if it is him? He should ask himself. And despite Buhari's abysmal performance, he still has a cult following in the North, and there is nothing that can break Atiku's North votes as an endorsement from Buhari.

Even if NNPP picks a SE as VP, he won't be able to steal off votes from Obi from the SE.

He doesn't need to vacate his office as governor. If Wike had won the PDP primaries, would he have to resign as governor of Rivers state now? Of course not.

The same applies to if he gets the VP position. So why should Obaseki resign because he is picked as VP?

He will only resign immediately before he is sworn in as VP, cos he can't be Governor and VP at the same time.

It will still boil down to who these Northerners pick as VP.

If I am Obi, I'll rather lose as a presidential aspirant than as a VP. He deserves better. I'm glad he saw that and left.

Which primaries? Primaries everyone knew he will lose.

My problem is that he should have left much earlier than he did, just like Kwankwaso. Except leaving now confers some advantage I don't know of but they know.

But I'm 100% certain that leaving after losing the primaries would have only made him a sore loser who is desperate, and that would have been worse.

He is building relationships. That's good. If it comes down to a byelection, you can easily form alliances.

This is not about the person of Peter Obi...it's about party structures and the dominant of "election illiterates" that are the major voters.

It takes a while for Nigeria's major electorates to recognise party logos...their brains have been wired to know APGA, PDP and to some extent APC in SouthEast, SouthSouth....APC, PDP in Southwest and the North.

The major headache of any politician that defects few months to general elections to a platform that is not so popular is how the electorates will recognise and identify his new party.

Trust me...Many can leave home with the aim of voting Labour party..and still forget to THUMB PRINT Umbrella logo of PDP .

Sadly, it's the reality that will work against Peter Obi

You made very valid points about voters literacy.

They need to identify things that can limit their votes and work towards fixing them.

You'll make a good campaign manager.

I can assure you that you will likely win the SE, but to win the presidential elections you will need to do the following.

1. Mobilize support in the North, starting with the picking of a formidable Northern running mate.

2. Prevent being rigged out.

3. Campaign, campaign, and campaign.

4. Form a respectable relationship with some of the top political parties.

Even at that it is going to be a tough one. If the 2023 elections are not rigged as usual, it will end up in a byelection.
