This deal was driven by rising wages in China, and the need to reduce their exposure to increasingly protectionist western markets as the Chinese transition to high value manufacturing, and automation erodes their cost advantage. Anyways, once the haircuts ( ) are taken, it would be interesting to know how much of the said $6 billion actually goes into the required work and how much ends up in the BVI. In any case, it is in Chinese interests to get a firm foothold in Nigeria's emerging market before it gets too crowded. The unbalance of trade problem is definitely real with this deal. |

SirShymexx: Looooooooooool. Apples and oranges.
Not against whatever you're preaching, but apart from the fact that there is no correlation whatsoever between IRA which was a Gaelic/Catholic nationalism group, fighting for Independence and Fulani marauders...Scots didn't join the English to fight IRA. Only Scots in the British military, especially British Army and a few who joined the loyal paramilitary group, who are mostly Protestants. However, a lot of Scots fought for IRA.
Scots and Irish folks are mostly the same people and from the same ethnic group...Gaelic/Celts. They're also both mostly Catholics. And IRA thing was more of a Catholic vs Protestant thing, with Irish nationalism as the nucleus, cos most Irish are Catholics.
Anyway, I don't know why everyone has to form a big union to tackle Fulani problems. You lot give these people too much credit, hence they think they're invincible. Yorubas alone can take on Fulani and take over their Emirate in whatever desert their rag-headed chief emir is hiding. In the context apples and orange? http://www.history.co.uk/shows/soldiers-stories/articles/northern-ireland-conflict. Just like between IGBOs and Yorubas there have always been a deep seated hatred among both tribes. In fact, there were some Scottish nationalists who sought to collaborate with the Nazis against the British government during the Second World War, quite a few were interned. These include Arthur Donaldson, who went on to become leader of the SNP from 1960 to 1969. Yet, during the IRA saga it's on records SNPs along with Scottish soldiers were instrumental in defeating the IRAs. Mind you some Scottish now regret it. One of my advisor was a Scottish Unionist, his brother was murdered by the IRA. Oh, I do agree the SW is capable of defeating the northerners alone. Put it this way everything is in our favour in terms of geographical location (hills, access to sea etc), wealth and many more. |

One thing is for sure, the Yorubas on this board are just as shortsighted and stvpid as their eastern counterparts. Complaining about mocking and then proceeding to do the same when the common enemy are the northerners. You can't make this up. Fulanis must be rubbing their hands in delight. Even the Scottish and the English had to temporarily put their differences aside to fight IRA. Anybody that kills my tribe is a bigger enemy in my book. How many Yorubas have been killed because for xenophobia compares to Northerners? Yet Yorubas loves the northernersso much. Have fun y'all |

NICENEDU29: My sister thank u so much. Ur comment is de best so far. Ignore what people ar saying about dis situation. I believe what happened is natural. Nature is nature & it is only science dat can prove it. I hav witnessed occasions where thunder & lightning destroyed mighty trees & buildings. In fact it has happened to me personally. Dat was sometime in 2005 when I was in Aba, Abia State. Dat day it was raining heavily & I was in de kitchen cookng. Suddenly lightning struck, followed by a heavy thunder. At dat moment I was holding de pot cover with my wet hand. Wen de lightning & thunder struck, it shocked me so severely like electricity, threw me off 4rm de spot I was & landed me on de floor. Our TV & fans were destroyed. Sorry to hear that. This is preventable though. I would suggest you ensure every electrical connections and wirings are strongly bonded and earthed to divert any strike. |

flyca: I disagree. In overhead bridges you climb up and then climb down. In underground passes, you first climb down then climb up. The same energy. Biko we need escalator-enabled bridges whether underground or overhead! How is ground crossings similar to underground crossings? You don't need mechanical driven pedestrian bridges in those lagos pictures I saw.

Honestly, yorubas are blessed. I will urge a lot of Yorubas to read up on their history because it seems many have lost their ways. The rich history is what everyone back home must hold onto. It will be a welcome development to have a rethink about the progress of SW. I was surprised when I read SW had better human development in the 70s. |
Crime › Re: Use The Pedestrian Bridge Or Get Bounced (pix) by Dollyak(f): 9:08am On Apr 17, 2016 |
Why can't they implement toucan road crossings? More effective than pedestrian bridges. Pedestrian bridges are mostly used for highways in most countries. flyca: Pls they should build escalator enabled bridges. Sometimes, after work, no energy to climb up and down. Onipanu bridge is especially tasking This, in addition to aesthetics are the reason why ground road crossings are better. Instead of prosecuting the pedestrians, drivers should be forced to obey the road crossings signs. |
