Politics › Nigeria 2015 Election,nigerian Politicians Moving Families Abroad by donodion(op): 8:29am On Jan 17, 2015 |
In a bid to avoid being caught up in violence that may erupt after the February 2015 general elections, politicians, many chief executive officers/ chairmen of companies, top businessmen and wealthy Nigerians have started moving their families out of Nigeria. Over 800 persons, including 10 members of the National Youth Service Corps were reportedly killed in the North during the violence that trailed the 2011 general elections. Investigations by Saturday PUNCH showed that some apprehensive politicians and top members of the business community started relocating members of their families abroad late last year. Many, it was learnt, are still moving their families out of the country. According to findings, medical check-ups, short vacation, among others, are being cited by wealthy Nigerians as reasons for their trips. Aviation experts told one of our correspondents that passenger traffic in Nigeria is usually low between January and March but that is not the case this year. The CEO of a travel agency, who identified himself as Damian and did not want further details about himself or his company in print, said many of his clients had made bookings to travel abroad for fear of being caught up in violence. Damian said, “It is true that there is an increase in the number of transactions we receive; many people are making bookings to leave the country. “People are afraid; they fear that there may be violence after the election. Those making travel plans are mostly businessmen. I am also running away. I will leave before the election and return after the person who emerges as the president of the country has been sworn in.” Similarly, a popular travel agency on Lagos Island told one of our correspondents that many managing directors/chairmen of some companies in Nigeria had booked their flight tickets in anticipation of leaving the country before the general elections. One of the senior workers with the company, who simply identified himself as Thaddeus, said aside politicians who thronged the firm to buy tickets, many companies’ MDs and businessmen had bought tickets from the firm between November 27, 2014 and January 14, 2015. Thaddeus named the United States, the United Kingdom and the United Arab Emirate as the most preferred destinations of the MDs. He said, “Some politicians made arrangement to travel out of the country after the election, while many of the MDs chose to leave the country with their families a week before the poll. “Before the political parties’ primaries held late year, we procured tickets for the families of some politicians and we believe that they must have left the country by now. The politicians started procuring their tickets from the first week of this month.” The development, according to some travel agents who spoke with our correspondents, boosted their businesses. In the South-East, some prominent Igbo politicians and businessmen have also decided to go for “vacation abroad.” An aide of one of the members of the executive committee of Ohanaeze Ndigbo – the apex Igbo socio-political organisation – said his boss was among those planning to leave the country. The aide who pleaded anonymity said, “I am aware that some politicians have already concluded arrangements to travel abroad after the election; some of them relocated their families out of the country many months ago.” A travel agent, Mr. Nwaoka Iwe, who told one of our correspondents that he represents an Abuja-based travel agency in Enugu, also spoke of arrangements being made by politicians and businessmen to travel out of the country. Iwe said, “The period after elections is when most of our big clients travel out of the country just like 2011, but we expect more businesses this year because of the fear by politicians that there may be trouble next month.” Read more from source www.punchng.com/news/election-violence-fears-politicians-ceos-move-families-abroad/ |

GEJ/PDP govt is a disgrace.A TOTAL let down.An abhorence any sane citizen should despise.Chad army now taking a shine in West Africa? OMG!!!.How did this man acquired his PhD??.
He and his brass-wearing-gun-totting-corrupt riden-no sense of value-unpatriot hooligans kept deceiving themselves and Nigerians how they "were" on top of the situation while they actually are NO WHERE.
Global media keep exposing this man,his lies and ineptitude but rather than take a cue,he and his supporters keep pointing accusing fingers at oppositions.
GEJ is a grand master FAILURE.I dont care what small effort his govt (if any) might have put in place to improve (if theres such) the lot of Nigerians.Himself and PDP are woe unto the people.I am not a fan for PDP,PPC,APN or whatever party is reign of the moment, but i hold individuals in key positions responsible for their portfolios success or failuires. These arrogant power hungry mofos dont deserve to live.
A country without a formidable, effective and advanced military is nothing short of armed boyscouts and girlsguide.Whose only forte is to harrass the unarmed and kicking "bloody civillians*.Ordinary rebels, who are less than 10000 in number have ridiculed the entire Nigerian defence .

There are too numerous problems they will inherit from past and ncumbent government, yes but they need to pove themselves else..the same fate meted out to GEJ/PDP awaits them. Adminisher: Buhari is not the best we can offer. Jonathan is even less so. But let me tell you something, sometimes in life you take what is the best available. Corruption is a big problem, do you know 50% of Nigeria's inadequate budget is stolen?' However when we say the truth people get angry. 1. Should Jonathan have been the VP nominee to Yaradua?.NO The man was completely unprepared for the office and admitted as much to American diplomats at various meeting then. 2. Coup plotters becoming president is unfortunate but that is the nature of Nigerians. No principles. Your President was also at the home of a coup plotter and he even called him Papa. APC chose Buhari on the basis of incorruptibility and acceptance in the north but there were better people who die not have the votes, Colonel Umar in the north who could have been better. Then there was the Buharinappeal of serially contesting but the most important reason is not less than 12 million votes guaranteed so obviously there was a lot more at play. 3. Your generation has to get serious and be politically active. You guys are the most de radicalized set of young people the country has ever seen. As long as you can go on instagram, the check out pictures and convince yourself that your peers are not doing better than you all of you are happy. But you are being stolen from big time's You heard Tell them hun...tell them. If (or shall i say WHEN) Buhari wins, he have only one term to prove himself. If he doesnt meet up...Nigerians will give him the marching order as they do for Jona. |

shelter4luving: i got a new job through someone i just met. it was 4 days ago, i make photocopies of my CV and was summiting round some companies and offices. lucky for me i walked in somewhere while talking to the security man at the gate, the manager came out, called me and we got talking. he said he just like me immediately he saw me. that am going to be his wife. that i should leave all my boyfriends and get serious with him. i was just looking and smiling. so after all the talked, he went through my CV and ask me to go to one organization and summit. so i went. lucky for me again i went straight to the place and was able to see the manager. after much conversation, she employed me immediately. although i did not tell the manager someone directed me there. that was how she took me to HR. and i was asked to resumed the following day. I've resumed and i appreciate God and the first manager guy who directed me to this job. the problem now is, he called me yesterday to come and spend the night in his house after work. he desperately want sex and i dont want to sound rude or ungrateful and at the same time i hate such nonsense. Sis in the house, how do you handle such without looking ungrateful? men in the house, how do you think i should treat this guy? He calls me like mad with all manner of stu.pid love names. getting me angry but i want to be polite. pardon me dear but there a thousand and one ways ladies could get a man to back off with ease. Tell him you are HIV positive and show him a fake copy.Thats enuff for him to back off without fight. |

Nairaland General › Re: My Experience With An Unarmed Robber In A Banking Hall by donodion(m): 9:59pm On Jan 09, 2015 |
iamphilips: Hello nairalanders, good day. Came here to share my experience today being 8/1/15.
I have this neighbour who sells foodstuffs. She travelled for new year so she instructed her relation who sells for her to pay in the money(about 130k) she made since monday into her Diamond bank account...
I was in the banking hall- Diamond Bank warehouse branch, Apapa- when she walked in with the money in her bag. When filling her teller, someone asked her if she was paying in and she said yes. She later joined the long queue.
After thirty seconds, a young man dressed in corporate suit (pretending to be a cashier) came close to her and asked for people who are paying above 100k. About five people stepped out and followed him a few meters away.
He collected their money and teller and asked them to wait on the line so he can go in and stamp their teller.....
Like play like play, the man left. They were waiting not knowing that he had left the banking hall with their over 650,000 naira.
It was later that they reported, the bank manager even came down.......he checked the cctv footage and behold, the gentle man in suit was neither a cashier nor a worker in the bank.
Just like that, he stole over 650k. The security guard said it was the third time it was happening in that branch...my fellow nairalanders, BEWARE!!!
Need ya'll contribution and thoughts on this. Pls our Mods should share this story so as to avoid others falling victims. Thanks. the thief is known by bank staffs and securities men. They were too casual and unattentive and he cashed on it. Thats all. |

Lets be realistic and set aside hypocrisy for once. These women are equally Nigerian citizens, just as you and I.
They have voiced out against same way most citizen have, the need to end this unrepentant corrupt led PDP party led goventment.
I wish Jona would see reason and the need to honorably vacate the office of presidency (a feat Nigerian politicians are alien to anyway).Better to 'manage a good name' after office than the usual slur and insults he have to live with.
Sex workers,Carpentars,Mechanics,butchers,taxi drivers,vulcanizers,panel beaters,bricklayers,garbbage men and women....all are saying samething...."Time for Change"..."GEJ must go"!!!

If this guy buys an IPad today, his wife ll buy her own the following day. Whatever he buys, his wife ll make sure she gets her own and as we chat here right now, everything in that house is in double double and the husband who happens to be my close friend is complaining bitterely
Guess What! My friend was making the same complain to me, how his wife had a fight with him and was openly telling him they are in competition. Anytime properties are bought, she wants the property in her name.
