oniwo: Which country recognised ORJI KALU than the heavy weight OBJ before 1999.
OBJ, as of 1999 was just another ex military head of state who was being grateful to God for sparing his life in Abacha's gulag. It was some Northern heavy weights and IBB and his boys that Thrust the Reign of Power to OBJ.
Before 1999, OBJ did not have much. Moreover it has been rumoured by some individuals that Kalu happens to be a spy man for the Americans (I wouldn't believe such rumours though). The rumour was circulated after Kalu visited Camp David.

nijanigga: Kalu made his money by transporting and carrying fish from North to the east,vice-versa.Dubious, for anybody to be saying this at this age is playing with Nigeria's intelligence. How much oil did he transported and how many fish are there in lake chad? These guys are day light robbers.
You wouldn't expect him to tell you that he was once involved in the smuggling of Okrika into the country, or that he was once an IBB boy in the courier of that white powder (as some have alleged).
But for a fact the man Kalu was already rich prior to 1999.
Today he has expanded into oil & gas, shipping, & Airline businesses.
As Balzac once said "There is No Great Wealth without a Crime"

bobthebuilder99: N100 million = $600,000 dollars

Something tells me PDP has a LOT more money than that. I'm sure a single house of reps member (from any party) spends more than that on an election.
Dude he was talking about 1999. Just immediately after Abdusalami handed over. 100,000million in 1999 was quite a lot of money.

secondly he is in the middle,if he supports mr president he become an enemy of his ppl and if he condemms mr president he will lose national respect and support from other regions, and any statement might land him serious trouble with the authorities

azimibraun: And my question goes thus, hw can a boko haram operative be identified and clearly seperated frm the regular guys on the street?
Your question is a wise one, but the commander will make sure thee intel is not leaked by keeping his strategies close to his chest and giving his men last minute operatinal orders.

nuclearboy: Let us assume GEJ wins 2015 (though I start to doubt he will). What of 2019 when power MUST change hands?

We are setting precedents and tomorrow will ask us what we did today
The precedents you are talking about has already been set. You seem not to have a good grasp of your history about Nigeria.
MASSOB you made mention of will not get to the level of BH or MEND, because most Igbo Elites and elders have seen the horrors of War and know that Peace is far more valued than War.
State of Emergency in any Eastern state is an extreme that is unlikely. I was in Abia during the reign of the kidnappers, it got to a stage the Elders have to start speeaking out and turning informants. The State governor T.A. Orji must have been adviced well because he has to request the Military presence in his state to avoid SoE. Today Abia is Peaceful again.
See what these boko rams and their local facilitators are putting people through.

How many ordinary Nigerians can afford to buy food stuffs in advance, talk more of people who have been under constant.

Our fellow citizens are going through hell on earth cause of no sins of theirs coupled with the silence of their so called elders who are only interested in their political aims.

Unfortunately, these elders are in the comfort of their homes with their kids tucked safely abroad leaving the ordinary man to his fate.

What a wicked world ...

*sobbing*
Please Mister put away your sentiment and think.......Would you have supported BH to keep bombing and killing both civilians and Security agents without any check?
How on earth do you think that these Security agents are going to smoke out the BH boys without taking some extreme measures. Knowing fully well that the BH boys have the *silent* but unwavering support of most Northerners.
My brother, suggest a way you will like the Army to carry out their duties of protecting the sovereign intergrity of the Nigerian State against Internal threat?

ochukoccna: That BH has done worse is no excuse, how then are we 'civilised' Nigerians different from this 'barbaric' savages undecided
Can we believe truly the army's version of 'controlled' reporting with no independent media verification?
Hope this and other thread trying to put a positive spin on the SOE created by SS/SE cheerleaders are digested well by them. because when 2015 comes and their principal is booted out of Aso Rock, payback will be a bitc# for those who want to secede
My two pence cool
You people are so quick to cry blue murder and scream for Justice. The head of *Nigeria Pray* is General Yakubu Gowon. When he was the Head of State he supervised the worst kind of Genocide in the history of Africa targtted at the South Easterners.
Just search through the NL forum and see how many topics created by SE people to discuss the events of '67 to '70. Almost all of them ended with people telling the Igbos to suck it up and grow up. Now the BH has brought the North to this unfortunate situation and you people are still trying to hang it on the Igbo man's neck.
Think for a minute, will someone like OBJ condone the killings that has been going on in the North for the past 3 years. Each killing being worst than the previous one.
Haba, I don't really like GEJ and I don't consider him as an Igbo man, but in this SoE I am fully in support of GEJ.
So you want the man to fold his arms and watch the BH kill off everyone who disagrees with them in the North?
Politics › Re: 24-hr Curfew Imposed On Parts Of Maiduguri by eagleeye2:
Maple: How insensitive and foolish some people can be. People are locked up in their houses terrified with no assess to food. transport, communication, etc and some how many bigots here are amused by that.

Be very careful what you wish for others, because it could be your turn and/or those of your loved ones tomorrow. God forbid in the future, a northern president declares a SOE in SE or SS states over the menace of Kidnapping or MEND terrorism - no kidding this is more likely to happen now that a Southern president has paved the way - how many here would find the situation of the people in those SE or SS states amusing? huh, Northerners wont forget this in a hurry oo
Will you shut it. Anytime the SE brings up the genocide and the attrocities committed by the FGN between '66; '67 to 70, you people are quick to tell the Igbos to grow up and forget the death of over 3million women and children.
Boko Haram (I am talking about the BH of post 2011 election) was a creation of the Northern Elites, to make the Government of Jonathan *UNGOVERNABLE*.
You are fully aware that this SoE by GEJ is a final resort, that if it were OBJ the BH boys and the North would not have had the time to grow up to this stage.
The Northern youths should hold there Leaders accountable for the misfortune that befell them.
Politics › Re: Kalu Gave Obasanjo N100m For 1999 Elections by eagleeye2: 5:12am On May 19, 2013
However, Obasanjo’s Media Assistant, Vitalis Ortese, said the former President would not join issues with “Kalu who has credibility and integrity deficit.” He said, “This is a man who is known to have stuffed paper as money in a bag and donated it at a public function in Maiduguri. He has no credibility and integrity. So, we will not like to join issues with him. “He is only trying to cover his lack of credibility by seeking to join issues with someone, who clearly is not in his level or class. He is only seeking relevance. Good luck to him.

Have had about this Maiduguri stunt allegation before, but I wonder if this is just a mere rumour or it actually happened. Those involved in the said function (the organisers, and Kalu himself) should clear the air once and for all.
Politics › Re: Kalu Gave Obasanjo N100m For 1999 Elections by eagleeye2: 5:02am On May 19, 2013
No matter what you say about Kalu, this assertion is not just mere boasting. Kalu was already mega rich before the '99 election year, how he made his money is a topic for debate.
I dare say that this is the only politician from the Igbo stock who has openly told other azz lickers from Igbo land that GEJ is not an Igbo son.
Prior to 2011 election GEJ came with the gimick of being "shoe less" and also bearing "Azikiwe". But today THE SHOE LESS one does not give A DAMN about the masses (just because he didn't want to declare his assets) and the "Azikiwe" that he sold to the gullible Igbos has equally been dropped.
Whether Kalu wins another election in Nigeria or not, I commend him for being able to come out openly and take a stand against all the "for my stomach" Igbo politicians.

if you don't mind me asking what year were your mum in that school?
The reason I asked is because things have gotten to a stage that your mum could easily lose her life if she interfered unnecessarily today.
I am in the system and my heart bleeds seeing what the education system is doing to our young ones (especially those in public and semi-private schools).
Even my seniors in the office, have given up hope of things ever changing in the Educational sector at least in our generation.
These days if you try to think out of the box when it comes to exam malpractice, you could easily lose your life.
Shame.

byvan: Has it ever occurred to you that you might be the one ironing even the kids uniform because she is in no shape to attend to that??
Byvan, I do ironing always and I do my laundry myself (because I am still single). If my wife is indisposed, why won't I help out with house chores (including washing the dishes).
But for a woman to come up with feminist ideology that because she is not a slave or because she does not do laundry in her father's house, then she will not do my laundry is not acceptable. If you know you do not do laundries in your parents house, please indicate before we go further..... I will very gladly leave you in your parents house for another man who can accept your feminist ideologies.
But if you want to marry me, be prepared to be the woman and my help mate.
I WILL DO GOOD BY MY WIFE, and she will also submit as a wife aught to. Anything other than that and we will be reconsidering our union...
Family › Re: Will You Wash Your Husband's Cloths? by eagleeye2: 9:53am On May 18, 2013
byvan: A woman being independent is good but that doesn't mean that if you find who you want to marry at a younger age,you shouldnt marry because you want to be independent first .

Seriously, being independent does not make a man respect a woman,a man who has no respect for you will not suddenly develop it because you are independent.independence will only help you move on when the going goes Awry.
Chai........ A Million Likes for this post.
So in the "feminist" view theyy think a man (especially one has achieved his dreams) will respect you more than he aught to bcause you have got some cash or class.
Balderdash....... It is only a man with INFERIORITY COMPLEX that will respect a woman more because she has got cash or class.
Thank God that there are still some us (men) who strive as hard as possible to be able to go out there and get our daily living, no matter how small.
So if my wife got more money and social status than me it will make me less of a man and she more of a woman....sighs. Feminist ideologies will only work for the WEAK men out there, a man with dignity will always hold his head high any day anywhere.

Wait ohhh..... Shey na me go come dey beg wifey to wash my clothes (and maybe cook my food)?
Does she have to beg me before I do my manly duties?(Provide shelter, money for feeding, allowance for clothing and general up-keep). What the hell is all these feminist bull, shi,t?
Of what use is my wife, if I have to beg her to do every little thing? Maybe one day the feminist will also come and tell me that it's not my wife's duty to have s,ex with me.
To hell with all these crap, my woman will enjoy her marital home but the day she comes up with feminist ideologies, then We have to check for the expiry date on our marriag certificate.

kulyie: and thats one of the numerous reasons a single lady needs to use her common sense by not jumping into the bandwagon of the mrs club by empowering herself economically and otherwise before saying i do because its bad enough leaving my father house where i am comfortable
kulyie, please you need a re-orientation in life. I have seen ladies who got married to a financially up-standing guys only for their husbands to go from one financial misfortune to another.
You talk about being financially equipped yourself. How long will you be happy to carry the financially burden of your marital home and not feel the need to slight the man?
Ok. Even if you are financially capable, are you the one who will buy the washing machine and take it to the laundry for ironing (assuming hubby refuses to buy one)?
Babe, little things causes big friction in marriage, and that is why marriage is a union of compromises.

I support GEJ for declaring SoE in those states. But those saying that his score marks has always been high with real Nigerians are being deluded.
Yes, if this were to be an election year GEJ will likely coast home to a second term, because even the opposition are just a confused set of people without any clear road map.

But all in all, this is a welcome development since the leaders of the North cannot speak out and call these BH guys to order.
