I honestly think not.

. I don't think there is a hope in Edo election for APC. There is evidence that Obasrki schooled up to secondary school and whether he passed or not did not disqualify him. UI did not discredit his paper for his degree admission and the school acknowledged mistake made on the certificate issued to him. I think the case is over in favour of PDP unless I am proved otherwise by the apex court

Crime › Re: How Do Scammers Get Our Correct Details? by ejimatic:
Cutezt:
So I was sleeping on my own jejely this morning when a call woke me up from a number ‪09135806427‬, the man behind the line said he was calling me from my bank, Access Bank, and asked if I received a text from the bank asking me to upgrade my date of birth on the BVN, I was surprised but I said no, so he said I was asked to go update it from my bank or my account will be blocked and as it is now, my account is inactive until I reactivate it. For a moment, I thought it was true, since I did my BVN a long time ago, the staff there made an error in my year of birth, subtracting a year from it, and it affected me for sometime until I rectified it 3 years ago, so I listened carefully, the man gave me the 2 day, month, and year of births that was linked to my account (both the old and updated), asking me which was the correct one, and since I know they can't do anything with my date of birth, I told him the correct one.

He was speaking in a very professional tone with very good accents and all, he apologized for the error and I said he should not worry, now here is what I was waiting for, asking for details of my card, he said I should check my ATM card and I will see some numbers, he called the correct first and last 4 digits of my card, and asked me to provide the rest as that was my confirmation digit, that was when I smiled and knew this guy was an idiot. So I took the 2 other ATM cards of my Sterling and Wema Bank, and started mixing up the digits, I will pick 2 from sterling and 2 from Wema and called them out to him, while at the same time, retaining the numbers he got correctly already, the man was confused as I could hear from my end that he was on a PC as he typed and typed but the numbers were not correct, he asked me to call it over and over again, and I still called out the same numbers to him, so he did not understand what was going on until he got tired and switched to pidgin after spending about 18 minutes on phone, he started saying that I was trying to play with him and he was only helping out, and my account will be blocked, so I said, is a bank staff supposed to be speaking in that manner, or even pidgin at all while on official duty? He apologized and asked me to call it again, I called same numbers to him, but as I could hear his frustration from my end, I was seriously trying to holdout the laughter but couldn't, that was when I burst out and started laughing, and the idiot knew that this was no "white man, " switched back to pidgin and started insults, and trust me, I returned them immediately, pressed down, shaking together and running over.

But this leads me to the question, this guy knew very private details about my account, something that no one else knows apart from my bank, so I ask, HOW DO THESE SCAMMERS GET OUR DETAILS?

This man called my exact old house address, does that mean if I were to be assassinated and I still stayed in the old house, getting my details for the operation will be that easy?

it is a pressing question that really requires answers.

This can't just be swept under the carpet every time, questions needs to be asked.
. Our bank staff usuly betray us by giving our information to scammers and sharing their spoils with them.If you enter banks you will see staff browinsing into customers accounts especially when they are less busy. That is when they get our details.Scammers will call you, tell you your account no and the amount you paid last. That is Nigeria for you where bank workers are allies of the scammers. They called me several times using same trick but I will continue to be wiser than them I can say it anywhere banks betray customerss

My day starts at 3.20 am precisely with 30 minutes resistance exercises weekdays. Weekday evenings I do 15minutes ultra cardio with 5 minutes warm ups at either side.

I cannot afford more time and jogging just doesnt cut it for me. It cannot maintain my stamina and is quite frankly a lazy way out.

The 30 minute excercise is good for you. Some people don't know that when they jog they put pressure on the hearts If the BP is high excessivelly or the heart has some embarrament ,the much pressure you put on the it when jogging at over 35 years could lead to a sudden health crisis like slumping culminating in cardiac arrest. The older we are the more we should care about our limitations on exercise choice

Rest in peace Ma'am, but this could have been avoided.

About 50%(correct me if I am wrong) political appointees are medically not fit to hold whatsoever position they are currently in. Greed and nepotistic tendencies of rewarding loyalty over merit has caused persons who cannot even take a 5 minutes walk to be appointed into the corridors of power. E.g. the Former Nigerian Ambassador to US, due couldn't walk and was very fragile, couldn't go anywhere without an oxygen tank besides him, yet he was made to represent Nigeria in the most powerful country in the world.
Even Bihari himself, the dementia is getting out of hand, the Customs, the DSS etc are all manned by persons whose medical fitness cannot be ascertained
. Thank you for this comment.Though I don't know the cause of her death, as from age 40 you must be walking at least 30 mins daily, How many rich people and political appointees can do that ?Every day from car to car and sitting down for many hours. In abroad you see old people walking on the road with their cars parked somewhere. The result here is sudden death because of the blocked organs with fat deposits but in abroad they keep living longer. The point is daily walking for 30 minutes at least 5 times in a week is pivotal to long life. ....May God be with the family of the late Prof.

Career › Re: Bank Job Or Federal Government Job? by ejimatic: 9:28am On May 17, 2021
NarnieAceTech:
Hello Nairalanders, I don't know if this is the right section to post this but I need your sincere contributions, advice on a career path I'm about to take. I will go straight to it:

I have been searching for a job for some months now. I applied in several startups but wasn't fortunate in getting replies from them. I recently got a job in a new generation bank and it's at their HQ in Lagos Island. I had barely stayed up to a week before I got a mail from the Nigerian Immigration Service concerning their screening exercise.
I have never been in such position to pick one, because from the look of things, I can't seem to have it both ways but I may just be wrong. I decided to list out the pros and cons of both jobs.

Bank job pros:
• Salary is close to 100k.
• Transportation is free I.e zero cost
• Positive working environment.
• Learning on the job.
• Job growth.
• Job flexibility- I will start working from home as soon as I get a good grasp handling some things, that means I may be coming to the office 3 times in 5 days. That means I'll be able to run my side hustle as well.

Bank Job cons:
• Distance from home to office is quite far. Due to Lagos traffic, I leave home by 4.45am and the office by 5pm and get home by 8-9pm.
• No job security.

Federal govt. Job pros:
• Job growth.
• Job security.
• Flexible: I can comfortably run my side hustles.
• Probably deployed to a state that isn't expensive like Lagos.

Federal govt. Job cons:
• I applied with my OND(national diploma) so I would have to start from level 6.
• Less than 60k salary for a start (from the Info I gathered).
• Probably redeployed to the Northeast of Nigeria
• Since it is just a screening exercise, there's no guarantee I'd get my appointment letter.

Please, if there are people working with the system,
I need to know how many days would the training exercise take?
What's the starting salary of an AII(Assistant inspector of Immigration)?
Can I upgrade my level now that I have my BSc, if I get the job? If yes, then how?

I seriously need your advice and answers to those questions I asked, so I can draw my conclusion from them, because the decision I will take may either make or break me. Thank you.

PS: I have just 10 days till the screening exercise and I would have to travel down to my state of origin for the exercise.

Please MODs, move this to the front page.

CrazyMan.
. Don't leave your job yet Go for the screening and get your appointment letter before you leave the bank job.Yiur point of entry is ND but you can still process upgrading depending on whom you know and your level of connection.Imivration job is better than bank job where you are likely employed as a contract staff and may be dismissed at any time.I pray you are through with Immigration job...Finally don't leave the bank job until you get your appointment letter for immigration job.Good luck

CotenantNIG:
We continue with our series, cost of building materials in Nigeria.

Today let us look at the cost of cement and blockwork

A cement is a binder, a substance used for construction that sets, hardens, and adheres to other materials to bind them together. Cement is seldom used on its own, but rather to bind sand and gravel together. Cement mixed with fine aggregate produces mortar for masonry, or with sand and gravel, produces concrete

Blockwork is construction with concrete or cement blocks that are larger than a standard clay or concrete brick. To make them lighter and easier to work with they have a hollow core that also improves their insulation capacity.

And what relationship did Jonathan have with the North?
Honestly, there is something called Illusion of Grandeur, the North thinks too much of itself.
If not for the bickering between Igbos and Yorubas (instigated by Northeners or their minions like you), the North will cave-in within One Month.
The day the Igbos and Yorubas see themselves as "Southerners" and decide to work together, that is the day Nigeria break-up, you can see as the fed Govt is trying to instigate the Yorubas against the Igbos, by falsely claiming that Ipob plans to bomb Lagos?
What the !diots forget is that there are probably more Igbos in some parts of lagos, than there are in some Cities in the SE.
. Your Contributor is insightful. Lovely one ! The death of Yardua made Jonathan become our president When he wanted to contest again he was made to sign an agreement with the north .OBJ was their as their errand boy. When he wanted to contest again the north rejected him and was determined to end his life if he did not leave the office.. We lost the control of Nigeria in 1966 when the North made us believe the region was more united than the SW and SE.Till today we are behind the north so much so that any man who wants to be president must be rubber-stamped by the north chief makers So my conclusion is Adeshina is out of the race .

Now the question is how do you determine seniority between this two on the nominal roll?Pls admin gurus in the civil service should help out here because this is exactly what a friend is passing through in her place of work.
. Date and time of Resumption determine the seniority. In 2013 I saw PMB on NTA news crying for Nigerians claiming that masses were suffering and the PDP did not allow him to rule. I had passion for him and saw in him a person who would salvage masses.Nigrtians believed in him too because of the abnormalities of PDP 16 years of misrule. When Buhari came he meant well for Nigerians but he could not perform as we all expected for two main reasons.1 He is an old man.As an old man he cannot do things like somebody younger.Old age cannot be cheated. SO he has to allow those around him to decide on cogent matters. That is why we are in a worse condition than what it was in 2015 2 Those who are with the president do not let him know the realities outside and how people suffer in the country. They are after their own interest.Regrettabky till 2023 nothing will change for better in this country.
