I have just read some highlights of the judgement I agree with the judgement on the consistency of name with it's spelling. It should not be handled arbitrarily. However this does not affect variants of names that are widely accepted.Congrats to the winner again,

At first,I thought the only mistake the supreme court did in imo state was declaring uzodinma governor without taking into consideration the constitutional spread whereby he must have at least 25% of the votes in two third of imo state which is 18 lgas.a careful recalculation of the results shows that uzodinma actually met the required spread.
He won two LGAs which are oru east and oru west but with nwosu disqualified and votes of AA nullified, hope numbers were boosted and he got 25% in orsu, njaba, isu, orlu, nwangele, ideato north, nkwerre, ohaji egbema in addition to oru east and west where he won.that is ten local governments.if we add results of the 388 polling units he Won but are excluded,he got 25% in owerri west and municipal, ikeduru, ngor okpala, obowo, ehime mbano, ihitte uboma and mbaitoli,oguta,onuimo...

In the light of the above, the apex court was totally right in declaring hope uzodinma as governor of imo.

. I disagree with the submission of AGF .Atiku is aN Nigerian and he is qualified to contest. Truly he was born in the North of Cameroon. The place is now in Adamawa of Nigeria. By 1961 plebiscite. It is even in n the Nigerian map..Atiku was therefore born retroactively born in Nigeria.Foes this figurative birth apply in the law.My answer is YES..In 2002 the supreme court held that Atiku DIED by not taking an oath of the deputy govern or to become the Vice president of Nigeria. Atiku Obasanjo PDP INEC vrs AC .In the same was Atiku is assumed by law to born in a place which is now in Nigeria. This he is qualified to contest in the next election.Any case against him is a waste of time null and void and an academic exercise. The prosecutor will NEVER on earth win the case.

Are you sure there's no case?

As someone conversant with law, you know that the phrase "by birth" is weighty before the law. And if the letters of the law is to be followed, then you will agree that Atiku cannot retroactively qualify as citizen of the entity "Nigeria" by birth but by plebiscite which the constitution does not make provision for.
. Interpretation of the law goes beyond letters it involves action .In the case of Atiku vrs ACN in 2002 the supreme court held that Atiku died figuratively by being chosen to be the vice president .because he was not sworn in as the deputy governor of Adamawa So figurative death possible is .in the law? That is interpataion by action. It is a waste of time to challenge Atikus nativity .Where he was born is a part of Nigeria and it is even in the Nigerian map.Retroactively he was born in Nigeria by Birth

I am not a lawyer but having followed a lot of legal tussles and red a lot of legal judgments, I think I'm informed enough to speak in matters of jurisprudence.

When Atiku's case of citizenship was first mentioned in 2019, we laughed it off as a joke. But the case has been dusted up again with the Attorney General of the Federation deposing to an affidavit in support of the case. That's some big case there, men.

Now, having taken time to read through the arguments and counterarguments of counsels in the case, I am tempted to admit that the case has MERIT.

The law is bitch. And has no place for our feelings and sentiments no matter how loud we shout.

There are some few things we need to highlight:-

First, the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1960, 1963, 1979 and 1999, explicitly stated, without any form of ambiguity or equivocation, in sections 26 and 27, that anyone aspiring to be President or even Vice President of Nigeria must be a "CITIZEN BY BIRTH".

Second, it is true and without contest, that Atiku was born in 1946 in what was then Northern Cameroon. However, by the plebiscite of 1961, Northern Cameroon voted to become part of Nigeria. By which time Atiku's parents had died. So it therefore means that Atiku is a citizen of Nigeria by "PLEBISCITE" and not by "BIRTH".

Third, the argument that the case is absurd because Atiku had been a commissioned officer of the Nigerian Customs, the Governor of Adamawa and ultimately the Vice President of the Federal republic, is flawed. Because that Atiku has never been challenged all these times does not make his being challenged now absurd or illogical or illegal. In worst case scenario, if this case succeeds, he will possibly be stripped of the privileges he enjoys for all those heights he has gotten to because he got there in error and on wrong foundation.

Well, these are just my thoughts and analysis of the matter. What's yours?

Note: I'm a PDP apologist and if anything, I'm rooting for PDP to repeat the 2019 Atiku/Obi ticket. This is purely reason taking precedence over sentiments. I said this so you contribute constructively and not see this piece as an anti-Atiku campaign.

You have brought a good issue for discussion. 1 The Atiku citizenship was presented at the.PEFT and it was struck out ..Then APCa nd ittsl egal luminaries did not appeal it at the supreme court. The ApC or Antorey General has slept on its or his right to pursue the court .So bringing it now is a waste iof time and null and void .2 Atiku was born in old Northern Cameroon which has become part of Nigeria through 1961 plebiscite.Atiku therefore is retroactively a Nigerian citizen.Wherei he born s now in Nigerian map as Adaamawa State. In my opinion there is no need for any case concerning Atiku qualification and place of birth.

Is God really against taking Alcohol or Just against excess of It.

Galatians 5:19–21: "The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: ... drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God ." Ephesians 5:18: "Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to Immoral behavior.

The bible was particular about it drunkeness and not against alcohol.

Further

1. The Bible allows Christians to drink alcohol for medical reasons.
Paul told Timothy, "Stop drinking only water and use a little wine because of your stomach and your frequent illness." (1 Timothy 5:23 )

The Bible forbids drinking if it hinders the gospel.
Paul explained in 1 Corinthians 9 that even though he was allowed to eat and drink anything he wanted, he was very careful not to do things that would hinder the gospel of Christ. He said, "Though I am free and belong to no man, I make myself a slave to everyone, to win as many a possible.

Proverbs 31:4-5

4 It is not for kings, Lemuel— it is not for kings to drink wine, not for rulers to crave beer, 5 lest they drink and forget what has been decreed, and deprive all the oppressed of their rights.

What do you think God was reallly emphasizing on?
. The excess is what God hates and condemns. Moderation is not bad.Absinence is your choice.1Cor 6 9-10. 1Timothy 5 vrs 23. Prov23 vrs 24- 29 describes the result of drunkenness not a total condemnation of drinking. Everybody decision is however respected

garfield1:
A group in Rivers has petitioned the National Judicial Council over the nomination of Justice Simeon Chibuzor Amadi, instead of Joy Akpughunum as chief judge.

Amadi will succeed Justice Adama Iyayi Lamikanra, who was appointed on 15 January 2016 and who will retire soon.

Video Player is loading.

VDO.AI
Transparency and Good Governance group, also known as Accountability Mandate, which wrote the petition said Amadi’s nomination was wrongful.

It said the nomination violated the norms and tradition of seniority in the judicial system.

The group said Justice Joy N. Akpughunum, should be the rightful successor, as she is the next in service ranking to Lamikanra.

Chibuzor, number three in seniority ranking, is said to be Governor Wike’s preferred judge to head the state judiciary.

But members of Accountability Mandate, claim that Chibuzor’s nomination and approval was a deliberate attempt to promote ethnic agenda.

Eight names were sent by Governor Wike to the NJC, the group said.

Accountability Mandate in the statement signed by its Coordinator, Stan Stephen, said Chibuzor Amadi’s nomination did follow the norms and tradition of seniority in the judicial system.

“We write to bring to your notice of a violation in the process of how the appointment of Justice Amadi Simeon Chibuzor as the Chief Judge of Rivers State, which is a violation of section 271 subsection 4 of the 1999 constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended)”, the group said.

The group argued that nomination of Justice Amadi Simeon Chibuzor who is No.3 in the hierarchy of the judicial officers in Rivers state, neglecting more capable senior officials who are ahead of him, is to truncate the laid down tradition in the appointment of chief judges.”’

The group also accused the State Governor Nyesom Wike of promoting the Ethnic agenda by nominating his preferred candidate rather than allow seniority in the selection of who becomes the next chief judge of the state.

”This nomination and an appointment are based on ethnic consideration by Governor Nyesom Wike because he hails from Ikwerre stock of Rivers state, a stance that could amount to a grave danger in and cause disaffection among the officials at the temple of justice.”’

“The second in seniority is Justice Joy N. Akpughunum after incumbent Justice Adama Iyayi Lamikanra. She is supposed to mount the rostrum of the Chief Judge based on the tradition of seniority in the judiciary’s known mores.

She also still has two years to spend in the civil service before her retirement.

“We frown at this development because it is unconstitutional and also an attempt to impose a burden of credibility on the NJC as we totally reject the imposition of a wrong candidate in Rivers state judiciary.

“We urge that justice Joy shouldn’t be made to suffer this injustice because of her gender or ethnic background to be denied a life-long aspiration to rise to such a noble height in her career.”
