efisher:There's a difference between being st.upid and acting st.upid. You and Okonjo-Iweala are acting st.upid. |
Of course people are trying to islamise Nigeria. Are Christians not also trying to spread their own faith? If anything, the Christians are the more aggressive of the two religions with their constant carpet-bombing with fliers, stickers and their horrible music. Proselytizing is an essential (and very annoying) feature of all monotheistic religions. The pastor needs to STFU and stop talking st.upid. |
Oritsejafor has said some really ret@rded things against muslims recently which have the potential to cause serious sectarian animosity. He definitely deserves all the abuse he's getting. Yusuf definitely went a little too far, especially with the quotes about the pastor's mother and the one about drugs, but his heart is in the right place. |
This battle over subsidy is likely to last a long time. People should try and stock up on food and cash, there's no guarantee that ATM machines will get refilled if the strike lasts long enough. Try and avoid unnecessary movements, and be aware that thugs might try to hijack the protests to rob people. Stay safe! https://wagingnonviolence.org/wp-content/uploads/2010/04/nigeria.jpg |
Everybody should stay close to a radio tomorrow morning and wait for the people at NLC to make the announcement. Prepare to go outside and protest. |
People should be aware that the police is likely to look for any excuse to teargas or shoot unarmed protesters. Do not let them provoke you into violence. Keep it peaceful and we will win. Let's try and keep the bloodshed to a minimum. |
http://www.channelstv.com/global/news_details.php?nid=30863&cat=Local The Nigeria Labour Congress, the Trade Union Congress and the pro-people civil groups have asked Nigerians to resist the imposition of the new fuel prices, resulting from government’s unceremonious removal of fuel subsidy. This is the time to stand up and fight for your country. The era of talking has passed. The people have to rise up and take Nigeria back from the liars and thieves in Abuja. It's time to go to war against these criminals. Who's with me?! |
efisher:The Ghanians are not starving. And their fuel subsidy removal amounted to less than a 15% increase in prices. Our fuel prices have jumped over 100% which is enough to sink millions into poverty by the time we factor in all the multiplier effects on the economy. People, especially children, are literally going to die over this. From malnutrition and from preventable diseases like when they don't have money left for the baby's antimalarials after paying for the suddenly more expensive food, rent and transport. And all this is happening at a time when senators earn more than Obama and Jonathan is eating N1billion worth of food. And you're yammering about energy efficiency. You're just like Okonjo-Iweala and co. You're so busy staring at one tree that you can't see that the forest is burning. I say again that for a smart person, you're being really dumb. |
efisher:Did you know that research has shown that STFU m0r0n. All that stuff doesn't apply when there is this level of poverty and corruption. The average Nigerian is barely managing to keep his children from getting kwashiorkor or marasmus and you're running your mouth about "energy efficiency". For a smart person, you are really, really dumb. https://26.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_ljb38otRHH1qa55edo1_500.jpg |
Jonathan just declared war on ordinary Nigerians. He better pray that ordinary Nigerians don't declare war on him. |
tlops:Anybody who earns N18000 a month cannot possibly be a member of PDP so whatever happens to them is not the president's concern. The real Nigerians get their fuel from government free and can easily afford to pay N1000 per litre if need be. |
I hope were are all prepared for 3 more years of being r@ped by the PDP. https://plus4chan.org/b/mtv/src/130647287283.jpg https://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lram20n9zj1qekoheo1_500.jpg |
landon:The federal government is nothing more that a burden. Despite paying taxes, the vast majority of Nigerians derive absolutely no benefit from it's existence now that the subsidy is gone. We generate our own electricity, are in charge of our own security and we don't dare call the police to help when we are in trouble. In fact, all three times I got robbed last year, it was by policemen in uniform. If Nigerians gain nothing from government, what motivation do t hey have to defend it? What do Nigerians have to lose if there is a Libya style revolt or a coup? The only things worth saving are the few state governments that are doing well. Otherwise, we might as well burn the whole thing down and start again. |
Nigerians should prepare for the mother of all NLC strikes. The economy is about to grind to a halt. Ordinary Nigerians and small businesses are going to lose billions. There are going to be massive protests, the police is going to teargas and probably shoot unarmed protesters. This subsidy issue is going to lead to total mayhem. Suddenly, the Libya situation is no longer far fetched. And sadly, neither is a coup. |
mufc009:The day after the election, I posted here that you people would soon be ashamed to tell your children that you voted for PDP and people shouted me down. It's happened far faster than I thought. |
youngmonie:One of my earlier posts: Evil Brain: |
Beaf:Right, we should allow the bloated, corrupt government to take more money out of our pockets to fund their inflated, corrupt projects. The government has totally mismanaged the money it has available to it, and your solution is to give them more? You are either completely insane, or are benefiting somehow from their corruption. |
ZEN:Why are you blaming god? No be una vote for am? You better stop whining and enjoy your PDP for the next 3 years. Look on the bright side, suffering builds character! Maybe you people will learn something from this so you can open eye and open sense in 2015. |
Omo_Tier1: maasoap:Have no doubt that the government is still going to be setting prices. By the time northerners start complaining that they are paying far more for fuel than people in the south; or the next time oil prices rise and it starts getting close to N200 per litre. You can bet your @ss that they'll succumb to political pressure and start "stabilizing" and "price fixing" (with a heavy dose of corruption) again. Deregulation my foot. |
NoblePat:More like N143.56 according to the PPPRA website
|
aikuda:Removing subsidy is not going to provide any stimulus. In fact, it will do the exact opposite because they just drastically reduced everybody's disposable income. That will lead to less spending => less economic activity => the closing down of many small businesses => fewer private sector jobs => more unemployment => more poverty => less development. The handful of refineries that may or may not get built as a result of this won't be anywhere near enough to compensate for all this. The government will grow even bigger relative to the private sector than it is now. And everybody who isn't a member of PDP will get poorer. |

pokur:Sorry. Didn't check the name before I posted. Besides, you'd be surprised at how may people here still believe that Buhari = Boko Haram cr@p. Apparently, Poe's law also applies to Nigerian political debate. |
Rhino.5dm:I'll give you $1billion if you can provide one shred of evidence that Buhari is in any way involved with Boko Haram. When are you people going to stop swallowing PDP lies? They managed to deceive the gullible masses that Jonathan was the only safe choice and look at where that has landed us. If we had voted for anybody else (and not necessarily Buhari), we would have been heading in a completely different direction by now. Sadly, we are stuck with Jonathan and the PDP for at least the next three years and we will all have to pay for the st.upid choice that most of us (but not me) made back in April. The future looks very bleak. |
jay bee:Also, Americans don't have to run generators all day and night just for basic comfort. And the American government didn't raise fuel prices just to fund a bloated and corrupt government. |
GenBuhari:Word up. Carry some jerry cans with you too! |
bayooooooo:I did. Sorry, I was bored and drunk at the time. |
nakedall:You just sit down, lean back and watch them outperform the FG even with this tiny amount. You'd be surprised at how far a little money can go when the government's first priority isn't stealing as much as possible. |
@OP What you're saying is like asking which is better for curing malaria, charcoal or sand? While its likely that one is better than the other, the point is moot because both of them are basically useless. And both the bible and the koran can be massaged into supporting practically anything. They can both be interpreted any way you want depending on your imagination and whatever preconcieved ideas you have about them. If you think the bible supports the koran, its only because you have chosen to see it that way. Some people believe the koran is the most noble book ever written, while others believe that it supports mindless violence, mistreatment of women, and child molestation. And both groups of people are right in a way, because religious books are all things to all people. |
Joagbaje:How do you know that it wasn't the intervention of Juju priests that prevented the bombings? Or more likely, that Boko Haram couldn't organize the resources to pull off another major bombing so soon after christmas? You christians need to learn to apply some reason to your posts. Being born again doesn't mean you have to say ret@rded things. Also, as someone above already pointed out, a bombing today is no worse than a bombing on any other day. And Boko Haram still have 13 hours left. |
Obiagu1:People are so desperate for good news that we're grasping at straws. Pretty much anything Jonathan does now will be better that what he's been doing for the past year which is scratching his ynash and making rètarded statements. |
The reason GEj isn't declaring a state of emergency in entire states is because he doesn't want to sack the governors. Apparently, the political fallout would be too much for him to handle. |
