freshera:Their faith must have been as strong as their joysticks which they were using to force into Africa slave girls/women. So what happens after a good day of torturing negroes, hmm, I think I'll pray for my country to one day become an even bigger terrorist state. That's how lucky those with Jew blessings are. davidylan:When you try too hard to not be typical, you may just come out wrong. If America didn't have thousands of black slaves, where would their power be? |
ChinenyeN:Ika is to Igbo, what, say, the Yorkshire sub-culture is to England, only that the English have advanced to create a unified nation with a standard dialect. 90% of the English speaking world will not understand a Yorkshire accent (or unofficial dialect) just like 70% of the Igbo speaking world cannot understand the Ika dialect. Ika is Igbo, so an Ika person can be just Igbo. If you've made up your mind that the Igbo identity is that of the Anambra people, then you will not understand this. If you understand that Igbo is the root of all these Igbo cultures, then you wouldn't have a problem. And if we want to scrap that and say that an Igbo culture can't be just Igbo, then we have some heavy fragmenting to do, that is, all the way down to hamlet and compound identity, if you know what I mean. |
agbotaen:You are yet to produce the leader or king of Ika. Who is he and what is his title? Again, stop speaking for all Ika people you foolish confused bigot. |
occam:Nigerian people aren't used to this sort of international media attention, and so people become naturally suspicious. We all know that this and even the Welcome to Lagos documentary could have shown worse. I actually agree with someone earlier in this thread saying that the BBC's focus on Lagos is for economic/political reasons, although maybe not for the same reasons that was stated like Louis Theroux acting as a spy coming to tear Lagos' image apart (someone has to ask what image people on this thread are defending, maybe they'd rather leave the grimy reality to people's imagination instead of sealing it with video/audio evidence). Lagos has been officially designated as one of the next largest urban areas on earth by the almighty UN, so journalists have to do their work, they even mentioned Lagos in a recent environmental programme, and Welcome to Lagos almost filmed the exact same shots as that documentary and also mentioned that Lagos is growing. They're just eyeing the next potential competition/pace setter/world influencer that's all. |
Leilah:Like what? |
It doesn't have anything to do with God, and they don't have any special blessing. They got to their position quite violently actually, and many people in their country wouldn't agree with you when you say they're blessed living in run down housing projects. What does the "New Israel mean"? In a few decades you'll be writing the same for China, probably in Mandarin. |

ShangoThor:Report for where? Did you not hear of that AIT studio that 'mysteriously' burnt down? Leave that thing any negative report on the ruling party and the TV station is over, plus NTA is part of the government that is paying for area boys. A shame. |
Of course I expect you to say so. @Poster The day your man starts acting up, but drop and find a Yoruba man. You will never regret it, I guarantee it. You'll enjoy our culture, beautiful and bountiful lol. Egbe omo Yoruba, SW Nigeria ![]() Not interested
See, that's the difference, with Igbo there is no 'acting up'. Once Gera1980's eyes hits Enugu, she'll fall in love with the Igboland. I mean. . . |

I was shocked when I saw that this was in Igboland: Ohum waterfall, Enugu https://www.arkppn.org/DSC00112.JPG Visit a 300 year old Igbo war tower in Ukpor https://www.nacd.gov.ng/Dikes%20tower.jpg http://www.nacd.gov.ng/Anambra_state_Tourist_sites.htm Enugu's hills just being wasted and waiting to be made millions off of, can you imagine if a movie industry takes a strong hold in the city and tourists start flocking to Enugu, do you know how much a house built here could cost? Mehn, we have so much potential. . . . |
BBC's Message: "That shows you for wanting independence, hahaha" |
What's this thread about? ![]() |
excanny:How? you have your own forum as in website and you can make sure not to biased no? You can discuss what you want, where you want, no? |
agbotaen is not an official spokesperson for the Ika community, he is not a mouthpiece for the Ika, and shouldn't be addressed like he represents all Ika people. agbotaen is an individual, a random forumer that should let others identify how they want just like he can identify with what he wants. We don't even know if he's Ika at all. Stop insulting Ika people by using agbotaen to represent them all. |
agbotaen:SHUT UP You don't speak for all Ika people. Leave other Ika people to be Igbo if you want to run off to Benin, it's not by force that others will follow you to commit the abomination of denying your ancestors, and it's not by force that other Ika people should follow you into your beloved Edo nation. Speak for yourself only, if you want to speak for Ika bring something reliable that backs your statements such as a poll, otherwise stop embarrassing yourself in front of people who know who they are. |
excanny:Create your own forum. |
Oh, after the fact is when we start pretending to wonder if the money was too much? And they're already planning "future celebration"? Foolish. |
lol, thanks. I still believe that there's a difference though. I don't believe that the professors that I spoke to lied to me . Thanks for the reassurance though.
I don't see any post saying that your professors lied to you, they're just ignorant to the topic. Ibo is considered a spelling mistake. You couldn't give me an example of an Igbo organisation that says that Ibo is the language and Igbo are the people.I hope you know that being a professor doesn't make you the sole author of truth? |
ChinenyeN:Yeah I was wrong, I meant dialect. Gera1980:Yeah, in some dialects Kini is used instead of Gini, So 'kini ki neme' can be correct for 'what are you doing'. |
bcuz the europeans came and left quietly. . . .
I already told you guys that people know their family history very well in Igboland, these people do not have any Europeans in their family, if they did they'd say so. Many of these Europeans were stationed in specific areas, many of them were in Igboland in the late 1800's and no earlier, which means that their presence in their family tree is even more detectable. All of them were men, and I know you people aren't telling me that a white man assimilated into an Igbo village. There are similar cases of this in Nigeria, it doesn't mean European ancestry. |
what was that for? It is true, just like u may have a white couple who may give birth to a black child. it has happened. I do not think that there is anyone on the face of this earth who has "pure" european blood, or "pure" african blood, or "pure" asian blood. Thats reality so ppl shouldnt be shocked by stories such as this one. genetics does not care if you are the blackest black or the whitest white, it is gonna do its thing, period!
Where did these people get European genes from? |
Most Afro-Brazilians are from present day Congo and Angola. Most Haitians are from present day Benin Republic. Most Brazilian returnees to Lagos were Yoruba/mixed with European and other African groups. This woman looks noting like the picture of Afro-Brazilian and Yoruba-Brazilian people posted, she looks just Igbo. I used half-Brazilian because there are common ethnic groups associated with Brazil. |
asha 80:Does that makes sense? |
^^^^ yep, some where aloooooooong the family line, there could of been someone white in their family. genetics can be funny at times.
These Igbotic people? White from where? ![]() |
Mbakara is not an offensive word. It's a term that is used to describe the white and it literally means "those that rule" maybe from the fact that the white ruled Africa. It's worthy to note that it's NOW used as an endearment,to describe beauty, love, affection etc (i even call my boo mbakara )If my instinct is right, the person that called Star Mbakara used it as an endearment.
I guess like 'nigga'? Anyway the word started off offensive and some still use it that way, I guess whoever is at the receiving end would have to interpret the users motives. As for Mbakara for 'love' I never heard that one. |
Andre Uweh:I thought it was custom to break by hand? |
