PoliticsRe: Why Is America So Blessed? by ezeagu(m): 7:04pm On Oct 13, 2010

I heard their founding fathers (politicians, scientists, entrepreneurs, etc) were solid christians, disciplined and visionary hard workers and strong prayer warriors and that modern day America (and also UK) is still enjoying the results of their prayers and hard work.

Also, that they are Gentiles and are also entitled to the Jews' blessings. I think I read it in a motivational /xtian book. Not sure about it though.
Their faith must have been as strong as their joysticks which they were using to force into Africa slave girls/women. So what happens after a good day of torturing negroes, hmm, I think I'll pray for my country to one day become an even bigger terrorist state. That's how lucky those with Jew blessings are.

davidylan:
Typical black liberal theology that holds no water. If America kicks all those folks out they will be MUCH stronger! For starters that will remove the large bulk of welfare and medicaid recipients. Crime will also go down.
When you try too hard to not be typical, you may just come out wrong. If America didn't have thousands of black slaves, where would their power be?
CultureRe: Delta Igbo, Bendel Igbo: What Does That Even Mean. by ezeagu(m): 6:48pm On Oct 13, 2010
ChinenyeN:
Here's the problem (as I see it) with some of what you all keep saying. You either make things "this or that"; "one or the other"; or you completely gloss over [blanket] the entire situation, bringing local identities to a sub-par level (you may not think that's the case, but honestly, that's how it all comes out as). The Ika who choose to identify with other Igbo as "Igbo" have not ignored Ika. So you can't keep making comments like the bolded. The Ika who choose to identify as "Igbo" aren't simply "Igbo".

So, if anything, you could have said something along these lines: "let those who also choose to identify as 'Igbo' be".

I'm sure Ika people have no problem with that. In fact, I don't believe anyone would be bothered by that. But your over-glossing/blanketing tendencies; relegating identities to the back burner, or even, off the stove entirely, perpetuates this issue.
Ika is to Igbo, what, say, the Yorkshire sub-culture is to England, only that the English have advanced to create a unified nation with a standard dialect. 90% of the English speaking world will not understand a Yorkshire accent (or unofficial dialect) just like 70% of the Igbo speaking world cannot understand the Ika dialect. Ika is Igbo, so an Ika person can be just Igbo. If you've made up your mind that the Igbo identity is that of the Anambra people, then you will not understand this. If you understand that Igbo is the root of all these Igbo cultures, then you wouldn't have a problem. And if we want to scrap that and say that an Igbo culture can't be just Igbo, then we have some heavy fragmenting to do, that is, all the way down to hamlet and compound identity, if you know what I mean.

You are yet to produce the leader or king of Ika. Who is he and what is his title? Again, stop speaking for all Ika people you foolish confused bigot.

People should take a deep breath & relax; stop bashing BBC.  What damage has this done to Lagos? There are hoodlums like MC all over the world doing the same thing: using young men for violence, hobnobbing with celebrity types, trying to get attention of politicians and attracting a swarm of gold diggers in skirts
-
Nigerian people aren't used to this sort of international media attention, and so people become naturally suspicious. We all know that this and even the Welcome to Lagos documentary could have shown worse. I actually agree with someone earlier in this thread saying that the BBC's focus on Lagos is for economic/political reasons, although maybe not for the same reasons that was stated like Louis Theroux acting as a spy coming to tear Lagos' image apart (someone has to ask what image people on this thread are defending, maybe they'd rather leave the grimy reality to people's imagination instead of sealing it with video/audio evidence). Lagos has been officially designated as one of the next largest urban areas on earth by the almighty UN, so journalists have to do their work, they even mentioned Lagos in a recent environmental programme, and Welcome to Lagos almost filmed the exact same shots as that documentary and also mentioned that Lagos is growing. They're just eyeing the next potential competition/pace setter/world influencer that's all.

If you have good intentions, u will be rewarded for it. I wouldnt get pregnant though. It very serious when u have a child and life can be difficult. WHy not get married then later on get pregnant?

It doesn't have anything to do with God, and they don't have any special blessing. They got to their position quite violently actually, and many people in their country wouldn't agree with you when you say they're blessed living in run down housing projects. What does the "New Israel mean"?

In a few decades you'll be writing the same for China, probably in Mandarin.

ShangoThor:
The important things that have come out of this documentary:
1.  The photo that MC had on his wall was a ‘PhotoShop collage’. If you run a Google image search you will find the original image of Fashola posing alone. In other words it is a doctored image.

2. This documentary only focused on Lagos and is by no means reflective on Nigeria as a whole. Furthermore, the reason why Lagos is, and will always be targeted as the focus of these kinds of documentaries is because it is the Largest Black city in the world and the Western media have a vested interest in negating ‘our’ ability to effectively organize ourselves, let alone create a utopia, or ‘Garden of Eden’ where black people live decent lives in picturesque, clean, enviable environments.

3. I am actually glad that this exposé was aired. Aspects of this documentary actually put things into perspective for me. Prior to watching it I assumed ‘area boys’ which are technically ‘boys in the hood’, worked as independent units. I had no idea that they were organized from a higher level and were units affiliated to the ‘Transport Workers Union’.  Moreover, this Union is powerful enough to lobby the office of the Governor; are protected by the Security Forces and control the ‘Extortion Racket’ in a Mafia style fashion. I found this very enlightening.

4. It is interesting that this exposé was commissioned by the BBC, afterall the Nigerian controlled media such as NTA, AIT, BEN TV would never tackle these issues and we need to start asking why? Could it be that the middle class and media are complicit in this system that generates gross abject poverty, mass extortion and exploitation?

The bottom line is that I believe Lagosians, and Nigerians in general deserve better.
Report for where? Did you not hear of that AIT studio that 'mysteriously' burnt down? Leave that thing any negative report on the ruling party and the TV station is over, plus NTA is part of the government that is paying for area boys. A shame.

it is always the igbo people who  are always crying that  this person is supossed to  be igbo  , but he says he  is not , what business of theirs is  it ? is  it by force , if a person does not  want you , you leave them alone. people are usually proud to associate with what they like , no one forces a person to appreciate anything , it  comes from the heart .
ikas have never pretended that all  ikas migrated from same place ,as that will be a fallacy .but we are now  ikas .majority of ikas from agbor,abavo,ota,oligie,ekpon,igbogiri,idumuesah,otolokpo,owa,owa-iru,owa-ikeke, emuhu,ute-okpu,ute-ogbeje ,umunede areas who believe they are  ikas cannever be shaken in their believe .but we also find quite a few ika communities who share border with aniocha areas ,saying they are igbos , such places like ekwuoma, and some in igbodo ,and some parts of akumazi .this is also welcomed as their major ancestors must have migrated from igbo land.
SHUT UP You don't speak for all Ika people. Leave other Ika people to be Igbo if you want to run off to Benin, it's not by force that others will follow you to commit the abomination of denying your ancestors, and it's not by force that other Ika people should follow you into your beloved Edo nation. Speak for yourself only, if you want to speak for Ika bring something reliable that backs your statements such as a poll, otherwise stop embarrassing yourself in front of people who know who they are.

Yeah, in some dialects Kini is used instead of Gini, So 'kini ki neme' can be correct for 'what are you doing'.

Many of these Europeans were stationed in specific areas, many of them were in Igboland in the late 1800's and no earlier, which means that their presence in their family tree is even more detectable. All of them were men, and I know you people aren't telling me that a white man assimilated into an Igbo village. There are similar cases of this in Nigeria, it doesn't mean European ancestry.

This woman looks noting like the picture of Afro-Brazilian and Yoruba-Brazilian people posted, she looks just Igbo.
