Bernard Longe is not yoruba. He is Edo. Also xty, ur post is very uncharitable. |
What if xtianity was a sham? Then I would be very grateful to whosoever brought it about for making me learn and acquire so wonderful attributes and knowledge which a great many pple and nations have used to their advantage. I also would surely like to meet who it was that wrote the bible and find out how he came about such a repertoir of knowledge and wisdom. So nothing lost really. But then what if XTIANITY IS NOT A SHAM? Then wot a serious problem you have put urself into. Because all the things you have said and blasphemed against God will testify against you on the judgement day. And O, what a weeping and wailing as the lost (which would include you) are told of their fate. O, you'll cry for the rocks and the mountains (to hide you), you will pray for forgiveness but your prayer will be too late. So why wait and gamble with your life when you can get the best of both worlds- salvation plus its attendant benefits on earth, and eternity in heaven only thru JESUS. Nothing to lose but everything to gain! Dont join the unfortunate who would rather wait to find out the error of their ways, for then it will be too late. So I invite you to receive Jesus into your life today and let the 'what if' take care of itself. God bless you |
ANPP gov of Kano decrees that all school girls must wear veils. Private schools are not exempted from the new law. I wonder why he did not make this an election issue but waited till now. Goes to show what problem Buhari and his ANPP guys would have plunged the country into. I thought sharia was only meant for muslims - why force non islamists to practise this ludicrous and vexatious policy. Is this really one Nigeria? source: today's Punch |
Girls in private schools are not exempted. Another way of islamising non muslims? Very ludicrous and vexatious |
Kano govt insists on veils for girls in schools |

Bellotti, how are you? hope you are cool. Good to see u r still on Nairaland. I'm sure the killers must have been arrested now - everybody agrees it was a wicked thing to do. Just don't know why we are angry at one another here - anyway, that's why it is nairaland, no? Still in town or you've permanently relocated to Gusau? |
we've passed that stage long ago - next question? |
Agree with u-re loaded, but I still believe Donald Duke will be the guy to beat except he doesnt want to contest. Of course tribal politics will still play a great role in Nigeria for a long time to come |
I admire Utomi's guts but he shd forget about the presidency in his lifetime. After yar Adua, it is core south south. Utomi calls himself a south south man but actually identifies with ohaneze and attends their mtgs. Donald DUKE for presido come 2015 |
Will the world attend? Let's wait and see. Already congratulatory messages from south Africa and Egypt have come in, US and UK have said they will recognise Yar Adua and some of the opposition have started paying homage. Even Atiku in a recent interview with Guardian newspaper intends to attend the inauguration - a tacit endorsement of the election. Politicians, only God will deliver us from them. |
Na wa o, see as people eyes don open. Couldnt have said it better mates, if 'war' is good business, then the politicians should invest their sons. Ewu protest march ![]() |
Good question friend. Simple answer - not the picture of Jesus. Then how come a lot of folks, including xtians 'believe' the pic is Jesus? Beats me too mate but I suspect it was propagated by the rosicrucians who have the same among them and affirm it is. Dont ask me how they got to 'know' that - beats me ol chap, beats me |
Never can understand you folks. Just a simple question and everyone goes off tangent and raising the adrenalin. From what I gather from the vitriolic attacks, NOBODY supports the cold blooded murder. So why the abuses etc? You guys sure like to digress. The question again: has Toyin's murderers been arrested? If yes, thank God. No? then we hope they would be brought to justice soon - that is if they have not gone into hiding. |
Qisas? Sorry, wot does it mean and wot has it got to do with cold blooded murder? Everyone - no matter the persuasion/leaning - agrees that this was wrong. We aint in animal farm, are we? |
All this grammar, analysis, research, etc because someone wants to fly to china via uncommon means. @ poster you are in the wrong world ol chap. In this clime, you get to china faster by plane. Sorry, if this doesnt meet with your expectations but then, how you go do now? ewu witchcraft. ![]() |
Have the murderers of teacher Toyin been arrested yet? |
Can anyone in the house advise on a good stockbroker that will not be affected by the new recapitalisation order and whose services are efficient and professional. I'm based in Abuja. My present brokers may not be able to meet the same. Recommendations will be welcome |
A Tale of Woe Three aspiring psychiatrists from three leading universities were attending their first class on emotional extremes. "Just to establish some parameters," said the professor to the student from UCLA, "what is the opposite of joy"? "Sadness," said the student. "And the opposite of depression"? he asked the young lady from Clemson. "Elation," she said. "And you, sir," he said to the student from Kansas State. "How about the opposite of woe"? The KSU student replied, "Sir, I believe that would be giddy up!" |
The Murphy Twins Two men were sitting next to each other at a bar. After awhile, one guy looks at the other and says, "I can't help but think, from listening to you, that you're from Ireland." The other guy responds proudly, "Yes, that I am!" The first guy says, "So am I! And where about from Ireland might you be"? The other guy answers, "I’m from Dublin, I am." The first guy responds, "So am I!" "Sure and begora. And what street did you live on in Dublin"? The other guy says, "A lovely little area it was. I lived on McCleary Street in the old central part of town." The first guy says, "Faith and it's a small world. So did I! So did I! And to what school would you have been going"? The other guy answers, "Well now, I went to St. Mary's, of course." The first guy gets really excited and says, "And so did I. Tell me, what year did you graduate"? The other guy answers, "Well, now, let's see. I graduated in 1964." The first guy exclaims, "The Good Lord must be smiling down upon us! I can hardly believe our good luck at winding up in the same bar tonight. Can you believe it, I graduated from St. Mary's in 1964 my own self!" About this time, Vicky walks into the bar, sits down and orders a beer. Brian, the bartender, walks over to Vicky, shaking his head and mutters, "It's going to be a long night tonight." Vicky asks, "Why do you say that, Brian"? "The Murphy twins are drunk again." |
Two Wives Two old guys are pushing their carts around Wal-Mart when they collide. The first old guy says to the second guy, "Sorry about that. I'm looking for my wife and I guess I wasn't paying attention to where I was going. The second old guy says, "That's okay. It's a coincidence. I'm looking for my wife, too. I can't find her and I'm getting a little desperate." The first old guy says, Well, maybe I can help you find her. What does she look like"? The second old guy says, "Well, she is 27-years-old, tall, with red hair, blue eyes, long legs and is wearing short shorts. What does your wife look like"? To which the first old guy says, "Doesn't matter, let's look for yours!" |
Yar Adua declared winner of polls with 24million votes. Buhari came 2nd with 6million votes. Atiku scored 2million votes. All the detractors of Nigeria have been put to shame. God is good to us and good riddance to the evil money bags wanting to destroy this nation. All hail. NIGERIA FOREVER. Aso rock, here we come. |
Seun it is true. It is no hoax. Yar Adua polled 24 million, Buhari 6million, and Atiku polled 2million. We thank God - all the detractors of this country have been put to shame. Forward ever Nigeria |

From today's Punch: There were no ballot boxes in the lorry. Just Taliban reinforcements with their weapons. They've been handed over to security agencies. Says a lot about the much hyped thumbprinted ballot papers that AC wanted us to believe. |
The Punch newspaper of yesterday carried a story culled from Daily Trust of 17th April and captionned: 'Not in the name of Islam' on the matter. I summarize: Toyin was said to have rightly seized a set of books a student had smuggled into the exam hall with the intent of cheating in the paper islamic religious knowledge. Unknown to her, a copy of the quran was discreetly hidden among the confiscated books which she angrily threw away. Soon after the exams, the affected student played the victim and cried fowl. Thereafter, a mob swooped on the hapless and unsuspecting woman and killed her for desecrating the quran. There, you have the real story as culled from Daily Trust - and this should be condemned by all, no matter your religious leaning. No need to be apologetic or defensive about it; the action was a calculated, callous, wicked and despicable behavior by the cheating student. That the 'mob' did not ask questions but immediately embarked on jungle justice was rather unfortunate. Sadly, the student and her cohorts are yet to be arrested. And this is supposed to be one Nigeria. It is things like this and lame excuses from belloti et al that makes it difficult for me to convince my kids of the beauty of a united Nigeria and the senselessness of going our different ways. I truly feel I belong to the old school. By the way, Daily Trust condemned the criminality and called for the arrest and prosecution of the culprits unlike the apologetics of the so called moderates. I really feel for the future of my Country during my children's time - how sad. Perhaps it is just as well |
Dblock, dont worry. Our politics defies standard logic and we are not surprised at these incidences. But we are not cowed. Vote, we will and by the grace of God those evilmen who have planned these so that the elections will not hold or be postponed have failed. They even claimed that a lorry stopped by soldiers was filled with already thumbprinted ballot papers by the ruling party whereas at that moment, the ballot papers were not yet in the country for strategic reasons. We are aware that AC is behind all these especially as the South South Peoples Assembly have indicated their preference for PDP because of Jonathan their son. So the attempt to kidnap Jonathan this morning in order to advance their wicked plans of election postponement failed. God is yet with us and you folks outside our shores should keep praying. I'm angry now and there's no stopping our casting our votes. I am from the south south and I'M ROOTING FOR PDP because OF MY BROTHER. AC and their supporters all over ( including those in nairaland) can go jump into the lagoon for all I care. Yar Adua and Jonathan for the Presidency. God bless Nigeria |
Freedom, either of the press or individual is never total, but carries with it some responsibilities - otherwise it will be ok to kill and destroy one another if it takes one's fancy. I have had cause to state in another thread in this forum my belief that Nigeria will never die. Our politicians are just doing what they know best - at the end, they will be backslapping one another, unmindful of the stress and aches they would have caused a lot of poor folks. Politics Nigeriana is unique and defies standard logic & ethos. And that's what makes it not only beautiful, but interestingly dangerous. AIT's airing of a politically sponsored programme in our already heated polity was wrong. No responsible govt would have allowed that programme to run it's course in the belief that it would later sanction the station - the sanctions would have been worthless after counting the costs for leaving the programme to finish. (The genesis of the Rwandan genocide still lingers in discerning minds). Every election conducted in our country has ALWAYS had it's segment of cynics, doomsayers, badbelles etc yet Nigeria had always come out stronger to the consternation of the world. Those of you outside our shores and encouraging us to 'fight for our rights' would do well to come home and be at the forefront in the 'defense of our democracy' rather than be like our politicians who prod us on while their families are safely domiciled offshore. To my brethren in the thick of it, be angry if you must but remember that this election, like the others before it will come to pass. So while the politicians are at their mischievous best, endeavor to keep your sanity and keep trusting that good will triumph in the end. Back to our dear AIT, freedom always comes with responsibility. In your bid to prove your independence, dont set your country ablaze as the fire therefrom will also consume you. Let's meet at the polls on Saturday. May the evil men and thieves among us be put to shame. We shall breathe fresh air again. God bless you all |
