bukahands: Just checked my GRE analytical section I scored 3.0Nice one bro. Sorry I didnt update the thread to let you know it was already out when I checked mine early last week. i had 4.0. Hope you've settled on a school, commenced application & started sending docs already. Best of luck to us. |
So proud of a very good friend of mine who is among the 21 students. She made a 'strong' first class for that matter o , the second person to graduate with such in that department since the first graduating class in 1988 or so(first 1st cass graduated just 2 years ago). Academic excellence will always remain an achievement anywhere. Best wishes to them and the other graduates as well...including 'senior' alumni like me ![]() |
I have been buying and selling on this forum for almost 3 years now, with NO regrets. Several times, its been said on this forum; before you buy or sell anything from anyone, always do the following: 1) Check the date the user registered on nairaland and if possible, go thru his/her posting history. 2) Google the person's phone number and see what comes up - I see you must have done that AFTER you had paid, which probably opened your eyes to the scammer's multiple IDs. 3) Except in certain unavoidable circumstances (like Pre-orders from known, tried, tested and trusted names), do not pay for what you have not physically seen. It could be dangerous sometimes especially if you fail to do (1) and (2) above. 4) IF THE OFFER LOOKS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE, IT PROBABLY IS. A tokunbo EOD for 900k and you believed?? Bro, you no try o. Besides, looking at the advert in question, the scammer posted exterior pics of a Honda Accord and interior pics of a Toyota Camry! That is sufficient to raise a red flag already! not to mention the fact that the username was registered the very day the advert was posted. I pray the thief is caught sha, involve the police and the bank if possible and don't forget to update the thread as events unfold. & guys, lets be wary. Chances are this same scammer will return to this forum with another number and the same style and format. I hope a sting operation can be conducted and these guys apprehended soon. |

slimmy05: House, please, i need an urgent response. I was to write my GRE today 14th feb, 2013 at Prometric centre, Oba akran avenue. I am based in Port Harcourt, i traveled yesterday to lagos and was robbed off my bag which contains my International Passports and other documents. I went to the test center with my Drivers License and national ID card and was not allowed to write. Please, is there any hope for me to reschedule? Please, once again i need a response. Thanks and God bless.Sorry about your loss bro, but I think the best people to answer your question are those at First Logic. I do know tho, that, yes indeed, you CANNOT write the GRE exam there without them sighting your international passport first. |
Where are you based i.e. Where is this car in Lagos? |
Now this is a PROPER Matrix.lol. Will definitely do some wonders with that manual gear on the expressway ....& even lower fuel consumption too! Clean ride, happy sales ![]() ENDORSED ![]() |

Lovely lovely ride sir |
Rossikk: I know.. Ignorance has a lot to do with it though. Many here don't actually appreciate how massive a project a 563 mw power plant is. It's got to be worth around $600 million if you go by the industry standard $1 million per mw rate.600million dollars = âbout 100billion naira plus abi no be so? My brother, na chicken change. Remember that 16 BILLION dollars was alleged to have been mismanaged by OBJ and some other thieves (who btw are stil walking freely and still hobnobbing with the present govt ). So by your figure bro, TEN or even TWENTY of this project could have easily been accomodated within that 16 billion dollars. The 2013 budget today can be adjusted to fit in about 5 of this i believe. |
Poor feasibility studies as regards the current difficulty - lack of easy access to water at the site of the station. *just one of the important things 'consultants' must have overlooked despite the huge funds they would have received then* Now, if this project was slated to be completed in 4 years then, i guess in 2011, or better still now, same project should have a completion time of less than 4 years, say 3 years - 3.5yrs. Now, this is generating 563 MW right? Why was the contract for the construction of TEN of this not awarded then?(= assuming all ten would have been ready by this year end, that is extra 5630 MW to be injected into the National grid which would have totally doubled what we are generating now). WE HAD/STILL HAVE THE MONEY. Ok now to the present administration, will Sincerenigerian please furnish us with info as to how many MW GEJ plans to inject into the National grid before 2015? We are generating tops 5000MW now, and estimated demand is at about 40,000MW. No? *can someone please provide more accurate figures* My point: the small small 150MW , 200MW which we are celebrating IS NOT ENOUGH. WE NEED MORE & we have this money. Let the President sell off a few aircraft in his fleet, let the FCT minister forget about "mission house", let Sambo forget about his 14 billion naira house, e.t.c. and lets pour a good percentage of this freed up monies into the Power sector. Now, that is a good way to really SHOW (& not say) that you are REALLY SERIOUS about tackling the power problem. |
Car I recently started DRIVING (not exactly own) fairly on the regular. Make: SEAT Model: CORDOBA SX Coupe Model year: 1996. Engine size: 1595cc Engine configuration: I4, OHC 8V Multipoint injection Power: 100HP* Torque: ?? *edited* Fuel type: GASOLINE Induction: NATURALLY ASPIRATED Transmission: 5 SPEED MANUAL Drive configuration: FWD * = Not completely sure if it's 100hp or 75hp but with the way the vehicle jets off from 0km/hr and the number of Accords, CR-Vs and Corollas e.t.c. i have dusted with ease , i suspect its 100hp |
Exactly what Sienna was talking about...peeps like you wif no auto-Idea, becuz you Lack the interest to even learn... *SMH*
Later they'll come to the car talk section and start asking why their 3.5 litre V6(unknown to them) Nissan Altima consumes a lot of fuel compared to their friend's Nissan Altima (2.5 litre i4 - again unknown to them) of the same model year. |
NOIBMUUL: I'm sure I'm speaking for others. We don't need to know th details.Did you read and COMPREHEND the Original Post you quoted at all You are speaking for yourself man. I seriously doubt you have a car coz if you have one, and you are familiar with terms like "registration", "vehicle maintenance" "fuel consumption" e.t.c., then you'll know just how important and HELPFUL it is to know these things. & frankly, if you have nothing important to contribute to the thread, respectfully buzz off. |
Flexskillz:I though twas only me that literally laffed out loud upon viewing the topic. The topic funny dieeeee ![]() |
oyb: who wants to have to take care of one's daughter after she gets married?Bros Oyb, na your relative get problem. Serious problem. & your relative's parents too. How could they open their eyes and allow thier daughter marry a man she (not they) did not know his source of income ? Even if the guy pointed at one or two ''businesses'', could she not apply her sense to know that those businesses couldnt be bringing in that sort of money? Now, it wouldnt have made sense for your relative's dad to ask to know the guy's office. What would have made sense was for him to TELL HIS DAUGHTER to explain to him EXACTLY what the guy SHE WANTS TO MARRY does for a living. Now good you mentioned our grandparents. Well, i'm young but not too young to know that the background checks they conducted back then were usually done in a 'coded'/cladenstine manner and even usually through 3rd parties. Yes, 3rd parties such as the bride to be's uncle/sisters husband or even one of the ''iyawo-ile'' as in the case of the man's family as well. No one is against conducting background checks but asking/demanding(even if subtly) to spend some time in your son in law's office is just somehow bro. The man for even apply wisdom. Go towards the son-in-law's offoce one day, call him up and be like ''my boy, how are you, how's work? I came to (mention a place close to his office) so I felt i should just call you up and say hi. Are you free for a brief chat at the office?....'' If the dude says he's not (who can say that ?lol), then he can be like ''oh, no problem, the people at that place asked me to come back tomorrow so maybe tomorrow then....'' * if tomorrow comes and potential SIL says he's still too busy to see FIL, then FIL is well within his rights to start seeing signs of a red flag in his brain*Of course, if the son in law is smart, he'll suspect that papa's original intention might have been to come to the office in the first place but he felt it would be rude (it actually is) to demand that he be granted a visit. That's wisdom! |
If the father's visit to the SIL will bring out facts that the daughter doesn't know after all these years/while of being with her lover, then she's not even fit to get married. If anyone is waiting for their dad to "reveal the wolf" then marriage should be the last thing out to-do list.
As in ehn, the more I think about the matter and read responses of those in support, the more it doesnt make any sense to me. Now let us assume that the father is the type who always likes to check things out himself or/and is overly protective. In that case, a time will definitely come that even he will admit that, ''ok, well, this girl is old enough''. Then he sits the girl down in private and asks her critical reasonable questions, if the girl is even unable to provide satisfactory answers, all he has to do is tell her that ''look here young lady, this is a move that can make or mar the rest of your life, you need to go and do your homework more. Find out about this and this and get back to me before I give my approval''. If the girl is smart (& not a dumb brazillian hair twitter only no brains kinda girl), then she must be able to get those answers. If the man is still curious, then he can make some cladenstine enquiries on his own (thats what our grandparents used to do), without of course embarassing his son in law or make him feel unworthy. Many women out there too are scammers and gold diggers na who seek to get married to rich guys just to ''end the poverty line in the family'' and to train their younger ones through school. Should a rich guy's rich dad also seek to know what his future daughter in law does for a living and ask if all her parents can afforf to train her siblings without placing burdens o their son?! Yeah, even the asking of such question ALONE is embarassing! Most responses on NL here simply prove that some women can choose to be rational when they feel like it and choose to be biased when it appears convenient for them. Na the guys i pity sha, coz i wont be surprised if many guys supporting the request here won't find it funny if such request is made to them by a future father in law, even though they are clearly planning how to render same treatment to their own future sons in law when the time comes.lol |

stillwater: Like I would care if MIL wants to perform fertility test. Infact I'd drive her to the hospital myself. I probably would have done the tests with her son, long before she even insinuates such.GOOD! Shows that you have sense. Same should also apply in this case. The lady too should have gone to the guy's office enough times to know what goes on there. She should have listened to him talk about work enough times to know what he does. If he doesnt like talking about work at home, she should have asked him. But then these days, you have sooo many stu.pi.d unfocused d.umb girls who only care to discuss Kim Kardashian and Tonto Dikeh even when the husband tries to bring up topics relating to what happened at work. Therefore, such du.mb girls will have to resort to thier dads asking to do what they should ordinarily have done. Your post still concurs (even if unknowingly) with Coogar's and my earlier posts. |
He wants to make sure his daughter doesn't fall Into wrong hand? And going into his future SIL's office for a few hours will rule out the possibility that the SIL is wife beater, a serial killer, a cheat, a sterile bloke?? If you really really want to make sure your daughter is in the right hand, you think going sitting in an office and staring at people is the way to go about it ?? In short, you can't know these things for sure. Your daughter knows best! She may even be the one hiding things from you(the father). The dad is hungry! or he's being over protective like you claim but he's going about it the wrong way. . . common sense and decorum should be applied here. There's should be a balance! The two adults planing on getting married are grown! . .except he raised an idîôt, ike someone said earlier.
Its like some nairalanders will gladly be with a wealthy serial cheat and wife beater than with a caring well mannered focused not so wealthy man. How visiting his office to see what goes there can guarantee his daughter's happiness still beats me o. |
coogar: by the same token, where's the trust? why would a father-in-law not trust me via face value? follow me to my place of work to find out if i am employed? after then what else? spërm motility test? psych evaluation? that's arrant nonsense!ON POINT jare. |
Na wa o. Some comments here odikwa very serious. Well, first of all, what kind of business did OP's cousin say he's into? 2nd, by saying he wants to know his future inlaw's office and see what goes on, the girl's father is indirectly saying that he does not trust his daughter's judgement/ common sense as regards choosing a life partner for herself which may be because 1) He raised an absolutely dum.b (ok, insert milder language here) daughter who cannot effectively think for herself and forgot to give her life lessons while she was growing up especially as regards what and what she should look for in a man OR 2) His daughter is 16 years old. Either way, it simply points to the fact that he didnt do his job effectively as a parent while she was growing up and now he feels it is the right time to do ''careful daddy''. I understand the fact that a man has to be concerned about his future inlaw but even if he's not completely certain about a guy, then at the very least, he can make enquiries in a cladenstine manner. I'm sure that'll be even more effective. Then again, its funny how all you ladies endorsing the man's action will be the same ladies making noise if the man's mother should insist that the girl must get pregnant before marriage. Is this not hypocrisy? & yes, both requests are very similiar afterall, there are so many loose serial abortion veterans who are already womb damaged roaming the streeets with innocent faces looking for a man to come and |
Murphy T: ONCE A NAIRALANDER DONT SUPPORT SOME INTEREST HERE, AND TRY TO BE PATROTIC AND TRUTHFUL IN THIER ANALYSIS, HE/SHE BECOMES A LAPTOP CREW..SMH...@Find out my mind stings for your unintelligent conclusionLol. Sincere apologies if you are indeed NOT a laptop crew member. But lets cal a spade a spade and not a garden spoon. Brother, we are paying a lot more now for electricity than before and we are not getting comensurate improvement. You go out youself and conduct your own study. i've given you tips in that post already. GEJ has spent 2 years plus in power and while work may be ongoing to revive the sector, MORE EFFORT shoud be put in it. Its too early in the day to start singing improvements man, coz the simple truth remains that many are yet to feel that improvement (if it truly exists) and believe it or not, some communities are even worse off than before! |
Joeadamu86: OP you think everybody is as cheap as you are? when there is an improvement on something it doesn't mean that all the challenges are gone, except its magic the problem of power will take some time, wetin we dey talk say things don't improve for power sector unlike before not even Amanpour can deny that if she is to be very fair to this govt.Oga, feel free to call me cheap. Na you get ya mouth Dude, price per KwH is now N12.45, up from 4 point something naira about 3 years ago (i stand corrected). So we are talking of at least 200 percent increase within the period. Now, in the monthd before the election and specifically between July and September last year (when the House of Reps threatened to set fire on jonathan's a.s.s), there was indeed a marked increase in power supply. But immediately after the elections (the very day after GEJ was announced winner) and also by October last year, things reverted to status quo. People are paying more for electricity now without getting comensurate improvement. What do you call that? Improvement? Hell NO! |
Give it up for the Laptop crew!!!! *claps hands*. So what's next now? A ''revelation'' that Christine Amanpour is a card carrying member of ACN & seeks to become Governor of Lagos state in 2013? Or that Cameron the British PM is a CPC member who wants to serve as vice to Buhari, right? You guys are pathetic. Very pathetic. I actually pity you guys o. Seriously! But it should be obvious by now that your constant mudslinging and attacking of personalities and not issues will not help your case. But oh well, Oga has to see you are doing something, I get Go to some neighbourhoods, both highbrow and low income, in the night & tell me if your ears wont be deafened by the sound of generators everywhere. Ask Femi Otedola & Mike Adenuga or at the very least filling station attendants if the purchase of diesel by companies has reduced. Ask the inverter sellers (new ones are springing up everyday) how many units they sell per day. Visit 3 banks and tell me if you won't hear the rumble of a cabin generator somewhere in the background in at least 2 out of them. Go and stand at the gate of Mikano's factory and tell me if you won't see trucks loaded with brand new generators to be delivered leaving the premises. Lastly, go and look at the 2013 budget and see the amount your very own President/whoeva appropriated for diesel & generators. Rubbish. Make una dey deceive unaselves dey go. Hopefully, we'll get to the level of development New Orleans is at in d next 15 years (that's not a curse, believe me). |
utch: Exactly. the car is worth from $30,265 (About 4 million naira)for a used one in the US Inspired Auto don make 100% profitGuy, always get your facts right before you come up here to showcase you ignorance. Going by your assumption above that the AVERAGE 2011 fx35 costs 30k dollars (remains to be proven), how does 30k dollars translate to 4 million? What was your grade in WAEC maths? (assuming you've written it) Whats d exchange rate to a dollar? Now, do you know how many miles are on the fx35? Do you know if its a very low mileage one & hence will cost more? How much does it cost to clear a 2011 model toyota camry talkless of a 2011 fx35? How much does container shipping down to Nigeria cost? I don't hold brief for Inspired but I think we should always get our facts clear before tarnishing other people's images on the web. You may be in business tomorrow & I'm sure you wouldn't want to be labelled a cheat by some anonymous partially educated(about such matters) fellow who may go round to keep showcasing his ignorance. That said, obviously, Inspired made a profit & you know why? Thats what people in business do most times. They make profit. |
Seriously, I thought the article was a satirical one written by one comedian. I never would have believed CAN will come up with something like this. Let us even assume that CAN really did not know that El Rufai only retweeted the joke and was NOT the author. Now, the joke's contents, are they in anyway insulting to Jesus Christ I believe that joke simply means that even if a whole Jesus Christ (a symbol of integrity and of almost no blemish) criticizes Jonathan, they'll still find something to pin on him to discredit him by saying he slept with Mary Magdalene. The only person(s) insulted in this joke are the PDP/Jonathan spin doctors. Now, CAN has been severally touted as a religious arm of PDP. & they have been living up to that name. This article and d one before it only serves to fuel that belief! May God save Nigerian christians and muslims from bloody bigots masquerading themselves as religious leaders. These religious leaders are the ones causing the problems coz they have mixed religion with politics. Again, this only further justifies the recent call/wish by Sanusi that they should all (both xtian and muslim & ''socio-political''*whatever that means in the naija context* organisations) be proscribed. Rubbish. A christian religious leader fanning embers of hatred. I thot that was restricted to Datti Ahmed and co. If only these religious leaders can be like Onaiyekan and late Adegbite. But no, money talks now. |
take dat: Thank God you wrote it was "your interpretation" to Cameron's submission which does not necessarily mean you are right nor wrong.I say these govt apologists on nairaland are total i.dio.ts. They don't know what their rights are. All because of some seemingly big but actually paltry money they are earning, foolishly not realising that if Nigeria were to be effectively governed, with all amenities and structures in place, they will honestly earn that and much more. Plus the environment will be safe for them to live in. Welfare and security of the people is paramount. A government that has consistently scored a low in those two key aspects in 3 years is obviously not the change the people need. & by 2015, i assure you, these fools will be rooted out of power and be rest assured that their nairaland apologists will be broke as.s fish few months afterwards for the simple fact that for every lie and mis information they spread, they are eroding their intelligence by a significant percentage. Guys, its not too late to redeem yourselves and stand on the side of the people, if not for anything but for the sake of your conscience and your very own peace of mind. |
ifihearam: Shut up!!!!!!nah, that he DELIBERATELY does not see things from a REASONABLE and SENSIBLE point of view makes him (& you) a slimy person. That he doesn't seem to care about the welfare of those who elected his principal in & who should be well taken care of with the money paid to online as.slickers like him (& likely you too) makes him a VERY BAD person. By apparently NOT realising that his failure to stand up for the truth & demand good governance is directly ensuring that his kids will have to live in/visit a worse off Nigeria is totally daft of him. |
taharqa: LOL... The Musings of a FRUSTRATED pip.. NONSENSE, Complete and utter (Arrant) Nonsense.Yeah, call me frustrated. Many people out there are frustrated. & trust me, if your principal continues like this, the wrath the people's frustrations will bring will consume him and all those that surround him, particularly ass.lickers like you. Never expected it to make sense to you anyways. Hungry political jobber. |
and wharrahell is Femi Otedollar doing there? To collect more subsidy money? G8 under Cameron go soon catch all of una. Lol. THIEVES |
