I feel sad and can't sleep after taking out my frustrations on my nephew who came to spend the Xmas hols with me.

Hes actually my first nephew from our eldest sister.and he's been itching to come to my place as I'm his favorite. I always spoil him whenever he's around.

Hes now a big guy but still fond of me. So he came yesterday and we all tripped out to have fun but somehow I've been unnecessarily harsh on him. Like I expect him to know what to do at the right time and if he fails, I'll just yell at him but later start feeling bad for yelling at him. Now because he's a big guy, he feels somehow, unlike when he was still Small that he'll just laugh it off or quickly say, "aunty I'm sorry". Now he'll just look at me like "what again now" and it makes me feel bad.

Today, he called the Mom and told her he'll be coming back on Tuesday. It immediately hit me that I've not been nice to him like he expected. Even when the Mom asked why he's coming back so soon, he said, "when I come, we'll talk." So when he dropped, I asked him to tell me why he's leaving so soon and he just told me it's nothing. So I asked him if he still wants to stay beyond Tuesday, he said if I want him to, he will.

Today was worst because the generator refused to supply light and I began to fume after trying to call the engineer to no avail. So I took out my frustrations on him again. I blamed him for the fault of the Gen and told him it was after touched it, it developed problems and he was like " not again"...

After everything, I called him and apologized for being so harsh and asked him to forgive and bear with me.
I feel so baaad right now..

Please, I don't want this nonsense to continue tomorrow. So what can I do to control it. I really feel for him.

The Mom just called now asking me why he said he was coming back. I just told her what he told me.. . I guess she's suspecting he's not happy with his stay with me..

My nephew carelessly pressed the sleep button on the tv in our house.The screen went blank but the red power on button was showing when I switched on the tv.I tried all techniques to make it turned on but it didn't.So I took it to a tv repairer.He charged me #1500 and asked me to come back the next day.After repairing it I took it home.
As i was using the remote to search for channels.I mistakenly pressed the sleep button and the tv went blank but the red light power button was on.I pressed the sleep button again the tv screen came up.That was how I knew that nothing serious happened to my tv.

This evening I was coming back from church when I passed by three young men. They look like they are in their early twenties.

They were making dirty jokes and laughing. When I passed, one of them said: "ah virgin dey pass o make una no talk nonsense too much" I heard them but I ignored them. We were the only ones on the road.

Op, forget all those saying, there is nothing wrong in it. Infact everything is wrong with it. I am very sure majority of them aren't married so they don't see it they way you are seeing it. If it was her parents i would understand. Her brother stay your house shouldn't exeed 3days, he should go stay in a hotel. Culture and tradition permit a wife to serve her husband first before others. It is respect. The brother should even be the one to correct that.
Please talk to her, just do it in a calm way, so she can understand and correct herself.

The only two points of benefit (and I say this with serious doubt) I may give her is the culture of serving visitors first and possibly the fact that the fellow maybe older than you.
But in all common sense it appears she has not 'left father and mother' and is 'clinging' to you.
This is more likely the case and it is prevalent in most cases of this kind.
Once again in my experience it is an indication of inadequate or absent courtship where sensibilities are settled.

My advice is: mention it in passing and seek to correct that error of judgement kindly as there may be no malice intended. As a first time action assume it was done out of ignorance. I fully understand your feelings.
