Nigeria is the worst place to be a child or to be born. To be poor in this country is just a double jeopardy. I was in PH the other time and saw how the task fore were seizing people's goods and throwing foods from food vendors inside gutter.

In as much as I want a decent environment, government should do enough to create a conducive environment for businesses. People are suffering and trying hard to eke out a living.

Look at these kids, what does future holds for them? I am an advocate of the poor not having much children. Just born 1 or max 2 and focus on them. But you will see a poor welder giving birth to 8 children without any means of catering for them. The Children would grow up and become a nuisance to the society.

There are kids I would see on the streets and tears would start dropping - I would be imagining what the future holds for them without good foundation.

NTA is a beehive of nepotism. Competency would be sacrificed on the altar of kinsman kind of appointment to sensitive technical position.

Government establishments and institutions always makes Nigerians to look daft and incompetent.

A private sector led operator would have performed well on this. Any staff that performs poorly would be shown the exit door by management.

Our standards are terribly low in this country. Our designers are not creative.

Sadly, our youths and citizens praises anything they see that are better than what they had seen before.

Honestly, as someone earlier pointed out, the facade is just too dull. Typical Nigeria architecture. See the surrounding landscape, no creativity.

Call a good Arab or European designers with fewer costs, they will put up a better aesthetically appealing edifice.

Yes, Germany may be an exception but you have to raise your a little bit further by being fluent in German.

No foreign employer would want to higher someone that cannot communicate properly.

Even companies in UK, US and Canada reject international job applicants that are English speakers because of their poor accent or heavy African accents.

People are asking why would anyone regret studying abroad? My people, if after studying abroad and you couldn't get any decent job afterwards, you would be full of regrets.

Some of my colleague in 2009 came to UK on self- sponsorship, paid millions and at the end of their programs, the Conservative government of David Cameroon told them to go back to their respective countries. Companies were told to first consider UK/ EU. Citizens before any international applicant.

It was a hopeless situation for many Nigerian students. Some came back to Nigeria to pick up call centre jobs with MTN and others while some struggled with entry level positions.

I thanked God that I came to UK under scholarship and there was no regret. Luckily, I got something on my return back to Nigeria.

If you want to study and sponsor your self, please head to Canada, New zealand or Australia. Avoid UK or EU countries. If you study in UK or any EU countries, you will be considered last in employment after the citizens of 28 member EU must have been considered.

Don't get me wrong, People still get jobs after studying in UK but it is very tough now. Most Nigerians go abroad to study with purpose of securing decent job and settling there. Most are not interested in coming back. If this is your intention, avoid EU countries.

It has caused a lot of depression to many people after studying abroad, paid the huge millions and come back to Nigeria to hustle for jobs with local graduates.

Some abroad graduates even hides to avoid people asking them questions after coming back to Nigeria. They see themselves as failure if they have nothing to show after returning back to Nigeria.

This statement gives some incompetent and backwards staff of EFCC to go about arresting every successful young man.

Imagine one Aboki, with all due respect, opening your laptop or phone and seeing yahoo mail. The next thing is that you are a yahoo boy.

The mentality of our security team need to change through education, exposure and training.

Mine was in 2001 in an aluminium factory during my siwes industrial attachment. I wasn't paid anything. I was given N1k after the six months SIWEX attachment.

In as much as I love to have break from work, we are a very low productive country.

There are too many public holiday. You don't see that in some highly productive economies.

Nigeria is a country with the highest number of public holidays.

Nigeria's university environment is nothing to write home about. The worst I have ever seen. I could not imagine that I passed through this system. I wonder if my children would fit into the system as they are currently. So decrepit and poorly maintained. Not conducive for any serious learning.

Everybody visiting just for popularity. Celebrities in Nigeria uses people's misfortune for cheap popularity.
Tell them to make a pledge, they will just disappear. Corporate social responsibility is still very far from Nigerian celebrities. They are always eager to promote themselves and their personality than offer any little assistance even to their followers. I will never follow any of una, come what may

We are very dirty in this country . Local government councils and market union leaders are the worst set of corrupt people.

See the drainage with wastes and the traders would be comfortable in that place. A typical Nigerian trader would be making millions of Naira in his business premises but would never evacuate his refuse or put the place in order. Honestly, the local government council should know that waste and drainage evacuation is part and parcel of their mandate

Onitsha is too chaotic and highly disorganised. Urban planning is zero and once you have money to build the usual four - decking, you could do that any where, making the city to be highly congested and too polluted for habitation.

Though this narration is also common with our major towns and cities. I honestly detests our cities. They are more of ghettos. Compare that to some other towns in South African and other places around the world with lesser prosperity, you see order and well planned towns.

Illiteracy is the major cause of high birth rate among poor people in Nigeria. Upwardly mobile middle class are now cutting down on the number of children they want because of their considerations for other things.

They rather prefer quality to quantity of children. I will rather have a single child that I would train in the best of universities with all the exposures to succeed in life than having 5 kids that would sap all the energy I have and poorly train them without them being successful in future and being nuisance to the society.

We should cut down on our birth rate. The Country's economic indicators are not good to support the country's population.

The world listens and mourns when one person dies in Europe or America but moves on when thousands dies in Africa, meaning no consideration is given to human in Africa.

Flood aside, Lagos state public schools are nothing to write home about. I expect the public schools in Lagos to be a pacesetter considering the cosmopolitan nature of the state and high concentration of foreign nationals.

In the mind of foreigners, if the public schools in Lagos could be as they are now, how are the ones in less endowed states would look like?

This is one of the reasons most expatriates do not bring their families to Nigeria. Public infrastructure are in shambles. They will rather keep their families outside Nigeria and continue their jobs here.

Go to Southern Africa of Zambia, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Botswana and South Africa, most expatriate usually reside in those countries with their families, some attending public schools there.

Corruption has destroyed this country and the youths whose future children would potentially attend these dilapidated public schools would be the ones fighting and defending the politicians incompetence.

Nigerian cities and towns are too chaotic. Dis orderliness everywhere.

Our cities are simply not habitable and livable. You see death in all sides and the roads are not well marked and neat.

Our leaders travel abroad and see how things are, how cities and towns looks like but will come back to continue in bad governance.

Well, people deserve the kind of leadership the society throws at them.

Chasing fire service truck and personnel away is big blunder that is inexcusable.

However, the question is as POWERFUL and INFLUENTIAL as Onitsha traders (OMATA) are and given the frequent fire incidents in Onitsha over the years, why haven't they demanded and ensured the setting up of a state-of-art fire station in Onitsha and strategic substations at markets? Given their numerical strength and clout of members in their various communities, no serving governor or aspiring governorship candidate would ignore their demands. Moreover, they have the money to help state government do it.

This is what baffles me about Onitsha. Successive market leaders always failed in their responsibility to provide this kind of important equipment.

What most market leaders does is to organise solidarity visits to government houses around the country.

After the tenure of each market executives, you will see massive acquisition of assets in form of buildings, lands and exotic cars by union leaders.

That's the reason people fight to death for market union positions in this country.

It shouldn't be the responsibility of FG to fight fires, but that of municipality and councils.

Nigerian system and things always defies sound logic. I don't know why things do not work in this country the same way it happens in other country.

I agreed with Chinua Achebe. The trouble and problem with Nigeria is not Nigeria but her people.

Must we castigate Nigeria in everything? US citizens didn't come so hard on Boeing because of these lapses. Donald Trump has been defending Boeing as a wonderful American company just to ensure the company continues selling planes and not to loose market share to the competitor, Air bus of Europe.

Please, let's learn to be patriotic despite the obvious flaws in our governance and system.
