master007: Please I need urgent assistance. I am expecting my CAS Number, but the school only accepts a deposit of 1200pounds out of the school fee, which is 5400. they said I Can only pay the balance by August for a september class and my CAS Will be Issued by July. should i wait till August before I apply for my Visa or should i just keep the balance in my account, because my agent said it is adviceable to pay full fee before visa appointment but the school in Liverpool needs only the deposit of 1200pounds which i have paid/. expecting urgent feedback
I understand that the use of agent nauseates Justwise. I'm not a fan of agents either, however I would answer your question.

You don't have to worry since the school only asked you to pay a deposit of 1200. However, it is imperative that you have the tuition balance + maintenance fee in your account.

No, you don't have to wait till August before applying for visa, you can pay the tuition balance when you get to the UK. Your agent should know by now that its not compulsory for you to pay your full tuition before applying for visa.

lafflaff123: Funny post and all what you said might be true.

Another angle you did not mention would be the islamization of the institution, as all V.C is chosen from the Emir's palace in Ilorin even if the school is a federal school. From when I could remember all V.Cs in that school have been Muslims and also radical in one way or the other.

Reminds me of OAU where the Muslim Student Association are like TIN gods and are laws in the school. Served with one Unilorin graduate some years ago and MENNNN that guy is the reason I am still scared of Muslims even if they are not all the same.

Wondered if that guy went to that school to study RADICALISM or the Engineering degree he got, this guy is from Offa and this guy was crazy. Always telling the rest of us Corps members drinking, that we are lucky we are in the Southern part of Nigeria serving or he would have dealt with us as we are INFIDELS.

You could see the NAKED hatred in his eyes and he never mingled or talked to the rest of us except to threaten us with Sharia or cutting our throats, this guy is really small(like 5ft 1) but all of us took him very serious and avoided him.

But again I have run into their products and most are well versed in their fields. Great Unilorin I great UNA.
It's either you are a lair, you have failed to do your homework or there is some sort of memory impairment somewhere, because your conclusion is annoyingly fatuous.

So Unilorin trained the Offa guy to be over-religious or there is a compulsory SHARIA 304 course that prepare students to be Islamic radicals? I worry for people like you. Sir, you need to think deeply next time before making your assertions.

I understand you are getting really anxious, it's understandable. Aside your current status, the only time your status is going to change is when your passport is ready for collection (based on personal experience).

Just be calm bro, you have nothing to worry about. You would buy me beer when your visa comes out smiley

This is highly encouraging. I can vividly remember the guy from the 'GRE thread', I was surprised back then when he posted a comment about rejecting an offer from Stanford University shocked

Av done Toefl, scored 89, & scored 294 in GRE. But most schools av seen requests 4 GRE score of abt 300- 305. Am tinking of rewriting GRE so i can get berra score. Do u tink dis is wise? And if u tink i shud, wil ETS report both scores or d average or is it any1 dat i choose dat will b reported? Thanx, i'll be xpectin ur reply.
Yes, I think it is wise, if you have the time and resources, please retake the GRE for better chances at top schools. With GRE 'scoreselect', you can choose which scores you wish to send to your desired schools.

Sometimes, I wonder if justwise is human or robot, he's just too active, well done sir grin. However, I wish this thread could be like UK & Canada threads which are both devoid of e-battle and pandemonium. Imperiouxx, Ojap and GboyegaD, God bless you guys. maj007: Finally, nemesis has caught up with those Mokola policemen.

If you have ever been unjustly harassed in the name of stop and search operation by those guys you will agree that was nemesis.
Royaldee: i am sure you've not been victimised by police before. i was a victim of this by the same police officers at Mokola in 2009. i was just stopped for stop n search around 7pm, the next was 2 dirty slaps from already drunk and smoking police officers. the next thing i was in the cell for commiting no crime and nothing incriminating was found on me. I had to part with 3k to allow them to free me.
Sometime last year, I was also ''unjustly harassed'' by those Policemen at Mokola. Just like you, it was a stop-and-search in front of their station. Those guys are so unprofessional. Na God go punish dem.

It could be argued persuasively that Naija remains an underdeveloped nation based on that bolded statement. You would hardly read about 'real' scientific research going on in those aforementioned countries

I'm a Christian with a 'superficial liking' for Islam. However, I detest religious fanatics. I find myself watching Islamic sermons (by Nigerian Sheiks) atimes on youtube, not because I'm looking at converting, but I strive to learn more about this thing called religion.

Olodostein: I am learning to be succinct buddy grin. Did you see this documentary on Aljezzera; indian hospitals ? One of the best surgeons in India - he was Mother Thereasa's Dr - said that religion and science works hand in hand. I am not religious, I work in a field that is very logical in solving problems. Now, it can be misinforming to hear Scientists take credit or perhaps discard what they don't fundamentally understand.

I used the US as an example because of the rising shootings there which has more to do with neurological issues as they are claiming; perhaps it has more to do with seeds of discontent.

My point is; Science and Religion should be balanced for optimum result..
I liked your well reasoned response grin. I've not seen that documentary but would try to look it up.

@bolded, I partly agree with you. Although I'm not trying to contradict my previous assertions, it sometimes difficult to completely separate science from religion. Take for example the relationship between (brain trauma, Out-of-body experience and religion) or (Parkinson disease vs religiosity).

Another point to note is that most religious experiences are based on individual's account which makes it scientifically unjustifiable. Until there is a universal paradigm to assess religious experiences, that 'wide gap' won't cease to exist.

I think the relationship (if any) between science and religion is an enigma waiting to be demystified smiley

50calibre: You are a neuroscientist? Wow! I have a lot of respect for neuroscientists. I had a delicate brain surgery last year and I got to see first hand the indispensablity of neuro medical practitioners.
Yea a proud one smiley still receiving advanced training though. I hope you have been able to recuperate? I agree with you, the field of neuroscience is interestingly complicated.
Christianity EtcRe: On Demonic Afflictions by FutureDon(m): 6:18pm On Apr 05, 2013
Olodostein: Baseless assertion. If scientists go beyond their boundaries, they will cause great havoc and perhaps extinct humans. There should be a balance, that is all.

You sabi pass Albert Einstein ? One of the greatest scientist in Human history.

Besides, why can't psychiatrists cure all the psycho's going postal in the USA, shooting down people every now and then. To cure mental cases, you have to renew the spirit and how do you do that? Drugs all your life?

Jesus Christ said, 'come, all you that are heavy laden and I will give you rest'.
Based on the tone of your post (directed at me), it appears you want to engage in a verbal battle with me. Also, I don't argue with people who sees religion as everything.

You talked about renewing spirit, with a reference to US shootings. Are you saying spiritual renewal puts an end to all forms of psych/neurological disorders including anatomical impairments in the brain?

You need a serious lecture on mind/body dualism. This is not the right thread to do that as I wouldn't want to derail it.

Christianity EtcRe: On Demonic Afflictions by FutureDon(m): 5:36pm On Apr 05, 2013
As a Neuroscientist, I strongly assert that religion has no place in science. Further, the aspect of neuroscience concerned with brain activities and religious practices (Neurotheology) is somewhat confused about its subject matter.

However, I think it depends on individual's religious and cultural beliefs. For instance, you would hardly see an nonreligious 'oyinbo' attributing the cause of his/her neurological illness to a demonic attack.

In conclusion, religion (religious activities) is sorrowfully exaggerated in our dear country.
