You are very correct but i only spoke on current practice, there are some other events that can't be discussed here though but you are also very much in order. 50 officers concluded that course few months ago and others are undergoing same at the moment. The move is not automatic at all.

Though they are called such names but the three main classifications of cadre are officer (up to ss4), supervisor (ss3-ss1) and management (m6-m1). U can call ss4 senior officer, m6 deputy manager etc. And if u pass transition course like OCEP (From officer to supervisor) or chief officers course (supervisor to managerial) the effective promotion date is d date u were due for it not to the day u passed d transition/exam. Though the management can decide otherwise.

SS 1 is supretendent and the move from SS1 to DM is not automatic, you must first and foremost go for a three months chief officer course, sit for an exam after the course then Wait for months or some period of time for management decision.

If I quit my current job for NNPC, my immediate report is likely going to be promoted to take over my role. I may not be around to interview the person that will replace him.

But not really sure of this NNPC yet. If I get it, it will put me in serious dilemma.

Pay wise, it doesn't compare my current position, but NNPC offers more stability and security, and a bigger organization. I also prefer Abuja as a city to my current Lagos (even though moving to Abuja returns me to being a tenant). Another big pro of NNPC is, it could be a stepping stone to international energy bodies like OPEC which generally prefer people with NOC experience (compared to a relatively small oil company).

The principal reason I applied for NNPC was to get first hand info to use for my interview coaching side venture, but along the line, I found myself getting more serious as my friends that work there try to convince me.

The decision would have been very easy if I could be considered for managerial role (which is impossible as my years of experience is 11 as opposed to 18 years NNPC required) or SS1 supervisor (3 years before managerial position).

Insha Allah, when we get to the bridge. But as at today, the "don't take it" decision is still the stronger instinct.

By the way, as nobody is above regret email, if I don't get NNPC offer, makes the decision easiest.

It is not applicable in NNPC ,two siblings can work there , married couples can also work there.

You can get up to 4/5 or 8/10 depending in the scale. Again depending on the mood of the person grading u. He expects u wear complete suit. If you are not complete, some people term it office casual even with a tie on.

Before the interview i made it clear here that NNPC can't never send you your score but if you are sharp enough you can decode it during your interview. Some situations will certainly give rise for them to revisit some persons CBT scores:Even in football best losers are considered.(I also advised on dressing,it was an avenue to score 10/10 , 2 mark is enough to knock some persons off)'(

You are an Experience Hire, you are not permitted to say you don't have an answer to any questions we ask you in this interview.

In this Tfare payment anything can happen,i was thinking it will be contracted out but it was not. If it was i will definitely know, the unnecessary arguments here is really worrisome, i repeat there is absolutely no relationship or correlation between this payment and appointment letter. The corporation is very conscious of their activities in this process,they are trying as much as possible not to raise unnecessary dust.

Waiting for them to do such is like Waiting for ship to land at the airport. Please don't expect them to announce when APL will be released . National assembly will form 102 committees in September, just pray the appointment letters are released before then.

NNPC by now should have made a press statement on this recruitment. How many was called, how many would get Apls and date they will start sending the letters across. This would ease up frayed nerves...everybody just dey believe any theory weh come up

That is exactly the situation, some persons even forgot to put down their account details and they are still hopeful. If you check back my previous chats here clearly that the team handling this process are made of of staff from different subsidiaries and they are working on a particular schedule . For now i doubt if one can't predict when the APL will be released, there are many factors that determines that. I just pray it will be released before the distribution of ministerial portfolios.

The most highly recognized by our act is ISPON (Institute of safety professional of Nigeria,70k) but if you have the cash you can go for NEBOSH (around 230k) . NEBOSH is internationally recognized.

Sorry about that, I wasn't referring to NNPC but on a general standard,every learning here shouldn't be centered on only NNPC,there is another life outside NNPC.

Oga Resume is for GT usually not more than two pages and CV is for Experience hires, not more than five pages.

Sure...There are alot of parameters that will play out here.The distribution of quota system will be ploted on a graph checkmake fair play not necessarily equal number per state (e.g 15 ,13, 17 is fair).The competition is between persons from Same states and sometimes LGA.

It is better to say no questions than to raise dust of RUGA and the the likes. Some brilliant questions can earn you something

There are different set of persons that handles each stage, representative from different subsidiaries. Once the interview stage is over another panel will be constituted for the next stage. The first committee was for the modalities of the CBT , most of the panelists are senior men and women of the corporation from different subsidiaries, NNPC is ready and prepared to get it right this time around. Thank God the new GMD is also a man of high standard.

NNPC staffs generally are friendly set of being...I believe poverty have a stake why people are aggressive.
SS 3, SS 2 are supervisory level , SS 1 is supretendent.
Next time you must learn to prepare questions from home for the panelists, it is best to ask questions that tend to pose as a challenge such as Transportation of their products or Safety concerns. NNPC doesn't joke with Safety. They can pay darely for it (legal reasons)
I remembered advising some here that dressing was 10 marks and so putting on suit is the surest way to earn that ,in fact i once said go and lend . I can assure you merits is a must and a major target (Pressure from political Office holder can change this narrative most times but i repeat merit is a must). Recommendations is also part of the process and so don't argue.

Another committee will form the next stage .

ICAN is a professional qualification and can't stand for masters. Your best bet is Pgd, then masters. Please don't say the process is too lengthy.You need minimum of 4 years to achieve that in Mechanical Engineering

For GT you can't achieve that in Engineering.

Oh, I'm sorry. Better luck next time. I'd advise you try and do your masters. Many of the organisations that recruit on merit this day require masters. You can try Lautech or Nasarawa University if based in Abuja. I started with HND (part_time) myself with ACCA, but have since obtained two master degrees. I had my interview on Tuesday without any hazzle except for an officer who requested for my foreign qualifications transcripts. Hope you are based in Abuja and didn't need to travel?

Even if you don't include it i always advise people to have a good knowledge of their abstract before approaching an panel,as long as you are a graduate they may choose to ask you. I currently have 3 academic project/thesis on my CV.
I also believe Resume is for GT and CV is for EH.

Read about a department known as ETD in NNPC, most civil engineers works there.

Subsidiaries should be seen as companies on its own with different departments. You may be best fit into Commercial and Business development. This department is seen in almost all the Subsidiaries . Now you have to carve out a link or relationship between commercial and business development with risk management to drive your defence.
You must look at economic evaluation to establish the viability of business proposal.(Your risk management have a role here)

Masters can't take the place of professional qualifications, NSE will serve and any other . The panelists may treat that with kids glove if you give them a good defence of your experience Over the years

Before you begin to search where you will work try and master the basics of Mechanical Engineering principles such as boilers,compressors, turbine,valves,heat exchangers, pumps... Baba you can't escape it.
You can work in any of the three Refineries, NGC,NGMC, many more.

By adding some logic....if u didn't get invited it's either because u wrote the aptitude test and failed or because you didn't right the test at all. So logically speaking, there is nothing wrong with that question
