9jakohai: Thanks for the memories.
Was nine years old at the time, watching the match on television with my dad, brother and little sister (mum thought, and still thinks football is a waste of time ). I recall when he was carried off, and then it just seemed normal.....a footballer gets injured, and carried off the pitch. Even when he was replaced, I thought "oh, too injured to continue the game).
It was a shock to hear the following day that he was dead. I mean, with my then brief experience of football, footballers never died on the pitch. I recall reading about the funeral in the now defunct weekend Concord., and how an autopsy had found he had an " enlarged heart ' ( my introduction to the world of congenital heart disease ).
Really sad then, still sad now. What i remember was along same lines. I recall reading that he was a lawyer, i was also impressed to read that he was not invited but paid his way and on his own volition offered his services to play, which offer was even severally rejected by the then coach and trainer. That guy was an epitome of nationalism and patriotism. |

pocohantas: The only Nigerian woman, who is hundred percent sure of her husband's location, at every given second...is a widow.
The worst thing about when men cheat is, they can't just fukc around in peace, tell the girl how men are polygamous in nature. They prefer to tell lies and denigrate their wives. A slight amendment to your view, the only other Nigerian woman who can tell you the husbands location with certainty is Aisha Buhari |

Dhotseal: Lol, bro u do not know the Nigerian Law School. The question I want to ask is this, "Was he the only one experiencing the well fair issues?
His purpose for going to Law School was to qualify as a lawyer. Why pay all the prize of studying law for 5 years in school only to blow it just months to Bar Finals?
The Guy has an issue beyond what we have seen. Besides, if he had been rusticated from UI, he was not qualified to apply to the NLS in the first place.
He needed to have sought advise, cos nobody in the history of the NLS had ever won against that Institution.
THE GUY IS NOT A FIT AND PROPER CANDIDATE TO BE CALLED TO THE NIGERIAN BAR. Lol. I find that omnibus clause very interesting. They can use the fit and proper clause to disqualify anyone at anytime even when you have already qualified or even a silk. I recall when I was enrolling at the Supreme Court and there were some delays. In anger i tapped at a certain gentleman who was helping to manage the situation, unknown to me, he was a judge. The man challenged me to tap him again and see whether my certificate will not be withdrawn. Them no born me well na, i chilled and humbled myself. The man spotted me from afar again and came to tell me that I am not fit and proper to be called to Nigerian Bar. I stood up and mildly begged the man oooo. Those were the days of Baba Ibironke |

All I can see is a woman who stands to gain from her husband estate and some villagers are not happy about this, so they gather some gullible women and accuse the woman of everything wrong with the world and then parade her. Next thing you will hear, they will say she confessed.

lekanation:
how can they upgrade a polytechnic to a university!!! both institutions have different standards. discrimination at its peak. Yes, perhaps polytechnic has a higher standard then? I am so against this dichotomy and my reasons are very simple. In this country, there is so much importance attached to certificates such that graduates of polytechnics are seen as second class as against their degree holding contemporaries, while in truth, both channels lead to different strong end results if followed judiciously. I am wont to believe that the polytechnics are stronger in some fields as they are primarily set up for those purposes. I am aware that account graduates from the poly perform better (in terms of numbers) than their contemporaries from the universities in all these ICAN and sister certifications. Of course there is no place for courses such as law and medicine in the polytechnics, so there. Having said that, in this clime, we might just bring those schools together or upgrade them as it were to fuse with the universities so that the graduands come out with degrees while their course of study remains as strong and sturdy as it would normally have been in the Polytechnic as a stand-alone. Infact those polytechnics will now be Faculties in the University such that all these divisions in classes (HND/B.Sc, etc) will be forgotten. Imagine someone spends the same number of years in a polytechnic, can stand toe to toe with you in certain specified courses or even out-perform you, but just because he is an HND holder, he must be employed as a Grade 07 staff while a university graduate starts as a grade 08. He cant go for straight Masters program without a PG Diploma. This is just not making sense at least in Nigeria. AND NO, I did not attend a polytechnic and will never allow any of mine to, not because I do not believe in the quality of education there, just that Nigeria has made it look like an anathema to hold a Diploma, no matter how good the holder is. My views may not be correct or acceptable, but they remain mine. |

domesifa: This is neither Social Studies nor Civic Education paper. It is Christian Religious Education paper in the just concluded State Junior Certificate Examination!
Is this part of CRK curriculum taught in our schools? What have questions 48 and 49 got to do with Christianity?
Haven't we shot ourselves on the feet! Curriculum experts get in here and explain this
The question is aren't there other general knowledge subjects such as Civic Education and Social Studies that should rather contain these sort of questions? This is the crux of the matter: CURRICULUM CONTENT! The no 3 question is structurally wrong. There is only one choice answer in C but doesn't reflect the expected answer from the question |
