PapaBrowne: The problem with NIgerians. We fixate every problem on the FG in Abuja.Hey the expressway in question here is FG's. Most people arent bellyaching that much over FG roads that are not expressways. Expressways are hypercritical, you know. No one is supporting Fashola's shortcomings. Besides when it's time for the State govts we talk about them too. |

Someone plz help, pardon my ignorance. I'm kinda confused: is it FERMA or FERPA (as in Federal Emergency Road Patching Agency) ? ![]() This is because even with the 'Emergency' or even the Patching, we barely see any iota of seriousness of the so-called Federal Govt even on their so-called Federal expressways. It seems to me much more easier to see late Musa Yaradua win 2015 presidency than for the lazy, lousy, talk-active FG to get up and fix their roads. They rather keep on blabbing like fixing the roads is some evil mission to the land of no return. Again one is left wondering what exactly they choose to occupy themselves with that roads are not treated as emergencies which they truly are. And now, if the Nigerian Govt chooses to curse our roads by not fixing them that we keep dying, we the ordinary people of Nigeria hereby with every bitterness, curse the sky through which they fly, that their deaths which has commenced of recent shall continue with no end/hope for them in sight! |
Obasanjo said President Goodluck Jonathan was "just using the stick" in his efforts."He's doing one aspect of it well, but the other aspect must not be forgotten." ![]() |
(CNN) -- Former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo has said more could be done to reach out to the militant Islamist group Boko Haram to find out what leads it to carry out acts of violence. In an interview with CNN, Obasanjo suggested the current government should adopt a dual-track approach rather than just cracking down on the group. "To deal with a group like that, you need a carrot and stick. The carrot is finding out how to reach out to them," he said. "When you try to reach out to them and they are not amenable to being reached out to, you have to use the stick." Obasanjo said President Goodluck Jonathan was "just using the stick" in his efforts."He's doing one aspect of it well, but the other aspect must not be forgotten." Obasanjo said he had tried to reach out to Boko Haram about a year and a half ago through a lawyer who was acting as the group's proxy, and had asked if they had external backing. The lawyer told him that the group was receiving support from other Nigerians who have resources overseas or "other organizations from abroad," Obasanjo said. "If they had 25% support a year and a half ago, today that support has doubled," the former president said. Analysts suggest that reaching out to Boko Haram may be increasingly difficult because the group has split into different factions, some with a domestic focus and others with a more pan-jihadi approach. Resolving the issue is key to Nigeria's progress, according to Obasanjo, who now heads an eponymous foundation that is working to promote human security across Africa. Goodnews! Research pays, sad that Nigerian practice discourages such efforts. We never aim at things like but keep relying on other nations for virtually everything instead. I doubt if powers that be wont work even harder to frustrate/discredit them. |

Hey Dude, hope not a joke. Seriously, it's a thing of habit. May sound strange, it's in your hands, the power to stop/control it or even exceed that number. But beware: Coke just like many other drinks, is more or less loaded toxins. Apart from the obvious feel good 'refreshment' and perhaps energy, you dont gain much. It doesn't even contain any nutrients. Added to chem toxins, a bottle contains about 8 sugar cubes which themselves attract diabetes and so many other excessive blood sugar-related health problems. I'm sure if knowledge of dangers involved doesn't stop you, surely an ailing body will do when adverse effects creep in. Teach yourself to quit now! |

More you look, less you see? Incredible! |
Yes, in Nigeria it's easier to believe this than believe the previous. Can a typical Nigeria official ever resign? Impossible! |
Akinmail: He didn't say he couldn't rule he only said it's difficultEeyaa, I think I understand. That's why we remind an easy alternative - if governing is difficult, he should remember that resigning from office is very easy. If he finds it difficult up there, let him remember it's never been easy for the common man on the street. |
Complete the following: Que. Oyo is difficult to govern, but . . . . Ans. . . . . .but governoship position is very easy to quit by simple resignation. |
Hmm! Just hope not with the stone age kind of train in mind? |
Poor she! Even as the slain hero, Dele Giwa's wellknown killer remains yet 'unknown'. Mama R I P. |
This is MI - Most Incredible! Is it not same oil-rich Bayelsa I used to know? Someone tell me it's a joke. |

@All, nice ideas, contributions so far. Reason for thread, and NL in the first place - to exchange ideas, rub minds. Let's all keep it coming, clean and devoid of foul language. It absolutely makes no sense resorting to name-calling or using abusive words. One house, one love. |
Not just sin, Self-Service is a Self-Disservice! It's very possible - find a way to culture yourself to do without it. It'll marvel you how much extra energy you'll gain and have to put into some other meaningful activities. And by the way, blame no one for whatever consequences you reap for sticking to it. Soon some may even come deceive you that it's 'healthy', even when your body keeps crying that it is dying from it. Goodluck! |
manny4life: HALLELUIAH, HALLELUIAH, HALLELUIAH.Bros, yawa don gas. Use this your bold haleluyah for something else as the news don turn out to be false. Amen! |
pres-elect:Bros, are we safe right here? This na Confusion 101. |
That's quite unNigerian. Sad to say, but its more than true - a typical Nigerian politician will rather than die in office (eg late Yaradua) than relinguish power. Unfortunate she's battling cancer, but I think it's a bold step. What can be more important than life? I pray God heals her. |
Hope not another tribal war thread! |
Interesting! |
aribisala0: I am not against or for GEJ so I have no need to present the case for the "plaintiffs" I analyse things as I see them. His handlers should know whether the region is happy with him. When the time comes if he presents himself the election result will show how people feel. You need not rock the boat. Your views are quite appealing. That's reason for forum and thread in first place -share thoughts, rub minds. I'm neither for nor against any of. Hope we're clear. |
aribisala0: You seem bright enough to contrive some sarcasm so why not convene a family meeting and trash it out with your kindred bright sparksHey no sarcasm intended. |
aribisala0: What big power? and if he does not forget they will do what? why did they not make Abacha go?Nice one there. So whatcha say, GEJ and other interest groups should simply pass the baton North and sneak away, while they continue their perpetual political dominance as our younger liberal southerner may have it? Can you tell me more? |
