TheRareGem1:
VP never call for Naira devaluation. He only called for an official rate reflective of market reality. The current dual exchange rates allows for arbitrage and blocks inflow/supply of dollars from investors.

What does that implies. It means the CBN should float Naira to find it's level which is devaluation. Road to Zimbabwe, Nigeria run an import dependents economy, hence need to protect our currency. PMB tried to avoid devaluation but ultimately succumbed to the antics of propagandist and forex racketeers. Since the first devaluation during his government in 2016 Naira has never appreciated to any of its old rate.

PDP government were corrupt but our currency is not this useless. Nigeria is just a mysterious country, and Nigerians doesn't hold their politicians and office holders responsible.

Wisemum I really appreciate your efforts and courage. You need to up your game.

Call your husband to take the matter serious make a whole of issue out it. Tell him that he is not helping you in solving the matter as regards your son's wellbeing and future. Cry and let him know the danger you are sensing from the unholy relationship between your son and that girl.

As for your son talk him, let him realised that he lacks emotional intelligence. How can he thinks everything ends with getting sexual satisfaction? Let him know that life partners goes beyond unreasonable sexual escapades.
Ask him what kind of mother does he want for his children? Cry and let him know is a disappoinment. Beg him and warned him to put a stop to that unholy relationship. Tell him, you respect him to much, but he had disappointed you.

Apply distractive strategy, engaged him with things and circles you want him to belong to.

As for the lady always keep a tab on her move even when she stays away from your son. Such ladies will not leave easily.

Pray to God about it.

You are indeed a good and great mother.

How you portray the girl evil without saying anything bad about your son lol

If the girl is a chain smoker it means your son is a chronic smoker

If the girl is a prostitute it means your son is one

If the girl is not responsible for sleeping in a man house, your son is irresponsible for sneaking in a girl in his father's house VERY DISRESPECTFUL

Atleast the girl is working your son isn't working

The problem here is your son maybe you help him get a job and his own apartment

Since he has decided to be useless let him continue

Before you quote me remember The girl won't come to the house if the boy didn't invite her

With Edu-training you will meet children from rich background as well as parents. You will like the work environment and the likes, but what will be gain knowledge wise?

You can copies of their scheme of work/syllabus. Established contacts with some education departments if the opportunity arise. But keep note maximum of 10 years work span after that probability of you being relevant with that organisation will be less than 25%, reason is by then they prefer having their children as administering the institutions and your age by then will be an issue for their young family blood. You will meet great and brilliant individuals but after a while you will realise your stagnant. In few years those you trained would have become managers or professionals in their chosen field but you be happy that impact knowledge, albeit poor or not too good financial standing. Some of the trainees may never reckon with because they will feel they pay for your service

The hotel job will give you wider experience and the pay is better. You can kill start a better career in the hospitality industry and hotel management. Like you can use that same store keeping experience to move to a multi-national manufacturing company as a store keeper.

For prosperity sake your boss is never your friend. In your workplace you keep only official friends. Divulging your personal information to your HR who is your boss no matter the hierarchy will make you vulnerable.

Note all the jobs you mentioned are more of a one man business hence the need to plan your stay for not too long as a work place.

Everything depends on your future ambition and life style choice. Appraise each opportunity, job security if any and pray for God guidance.

Best of luck

Politics / Re: Sanwo-Olu Advocates 42% Revenue Allocation To States by Housing(m): 8:42am On Oct 05, 2021
Chucks234:
I disagree with Mr Sanwo. He is asking for more allocations to states when they indirectly receive 47% (LG allocation). Also on the influx of people into lagos and the need for FG support which is laughable considering the amount of FG infrastructure in the state (the highest FG presence of any state in Nigeria). A simple breakdown of these infrastructure will help
1. The functional seaports is situated in Lagos built by revenue from other states (eg Groundnut, Cocoa and Crude).
2. The International & Local airport built with revenue from other states.
3. Major highways & bridges owned by FG and built with revenue from other states.
4. Unilag, Yabatech, LUTH, FTC & other FG parastatals built by revenue from other states.
5. Railway also built by revenue from other states just to mention a few.
5. Dangote refinery (technically been built by FG because CBN is a major financier of the project) I forsee an FG takeover in the future if he fails to pay his debts.

So LASG should show us what thay have used the allocations since capital was moved to Abuja in 1993 to do. In 22yrs how many new infrastructure has been built in Lagos by successive governors? They scream we have the highest IGR but forget to acknowledge that this IGR is driven by FG infrastructure in the state which other states do not have the luxury of getting.

Imagine a scenario where imports into the country is evenly distributed amongst the sea ports in the country, with same amount of FG infrastructure in all states we won't be hearing this nonsense from Mr governor.

Apapa Port have been in existence since 1913, dredging of deep sea and it's standardization was done before 1930. It was Tincan port that was established in 1976 hurriedly constructed to mitigate armada cement crisis of 1975. So Tincan was not constructed from any groundnuts funds. Era of groundnuts, cocoa and palm oil funds ends with regional government in late 60s.

Lagos to Ibadan railway has been in operation since 1896, extended to Minna in 1911 and reached its northeastern terminus of Nguru in 1930.

Lagos Airport Ikeja, was built during the world war Ii, as the main base for West African Air Service. It has been an international airport before Nigeria's independent. Not constructed with funds from groundnuts whatever.

University of Lagos was established in 1962 after UI, UNN, OAU and ABU. By regional governments except UI that was established by the Colonial (British) same as Yabatech simply because of access to sea.

Other States have universities and University teaching hospitals constructed by the Federal Government.

Lagos access to the sea is played a big role in it's development, it's was blessed with good terrain immediately after the sea unlike areas of the country that have access to the sea.

If other States and generating funds from the derivative and brags as source of revenue to the Nigerian government. Lagos thus has same derivative rights albeit denied and bigger bragging rights for it's success and it's industrialization.

Ports in other parts of the Country were first discovered and used by the Colonial Masters mostly during the slave trade. Once Lagos port was discovered all others were relegated by the Colonial for better security, better accessibility, good terrain immediately after the sea and availability of solid land for construction of industries.

As for the development in the last 22years, you will appreciate and be able to appraise that if only you know how Ajah and Lekki looks like before 1999.

Currently,we have 22 PFA's in Nigeria. And about seven among them are the oldest.
So,the best performing pension organisations are: Trustfund pensions.
Stanbic IBTC pensions
AXA mansard pensions.
Arm pensions.

These are the strongest and best performing pension organisations anytime, any day.

Please remove ARM from that list 2014 Pension Reform Act allowed 50% lump sum withdrawal. Yet ARM wasted a retiree time and money by denying him the obvious until a court make give judgment in the favour of the retiree.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.pmnewsnigeria.com/2020/07/27/retirees-over-60-years-entitled-to-50-lump-sum-pension-payment-court-says/amp/

a landmark judgement, Justice Oyebiola Oyewumi of the National Industrial Court, Abuja Judicial Division has ordered ARM Pension Managers to pay a retiree, Mr. Maroof Giwa, at least 50 percent lump sum of his pension.

Pension managers at the moment pay 25% lump sum to retirees.

But Justice Oyewumi said the norm be broken for Giwa, considering his age, and the life expectancy of male Nigerians as projected by World Health Organisation.

The Court held that 25 percent lump sum calculated by the Arm Pension Managers as claimant’s pension is unlawful.

He said that the 25 percent withdrawal as clearly stated in the Pension Reform Act is in respect of a retiree who voluntarily retired at age 50.

The provision, she said is not applicable to Giwa.

Maroof Giwa had approached Arm Pension Managers to apply for pension and withdrawal benefits but the PFA offered to pay 25% of his total retirement savings which he rejected.

He demanded 50% of the total sum.

The claimant claimed that the computation of the lump sum/benefits by the defendant done on the basis of 25% is unknown to the law.

He argued that he cannot be treated like a retiree who retired voluntarily and that he’s 60 years and above and would want to withdraw 50% or 75% of his total pension.

Arm Pension Managers, the defendant in this case, submitted that the claimant has no right and his statement of fact discloses no reasonable cause of action against it.

Its counsel, M. Abdulraheem Esq submitted that the template as provided by the 2nd defendant-National Pensions Commission only guarantees a minimum 25% lump sum payable.

He said paying a higher percentage lump sum (to the maximum of 50%) is dependent on several variables.

He submitted that to allow the claimant argument as per his claims will amount to tinkering with an Act of the National Assembly and it will allow not only the claimant but any other RSA holder determine what should be paid to him or her.

He said doing so would amount to usurping the powers of the 2nd defendant as stipulated by law that the withdrawal of lump sum is an option predicated on the condition that the residue in the RSA would be sufficient to procure funds withdrawals or annuity.

National Pensions Commission Counsel E.O Awa argued that the Act did not make provision for a lump sum of 50%, 65%, 75% or 25% except 25% lump sum on request to any employee that retires before the age of 50 years or disengages from employment.

But Justice Oyewumi held that the age category of the claimant 60 years and above was not in the contemplation of Section 7(2) of the Act that specifically made provision for a 50-year-old retiree to withdraw 25% lump sum.

“This in view of the unambiguous provision of Section 7(1) of the Act, which entitles the claimant to utilise the amount credited to his RSA account by the withdrawal of a lump sum from the total amount credited to his account. The only proviso here is that the balance after the withdrawal of the lump sum shall be enough to procure annuity for life for the retiree.

“A community reading of Section 173 of the Constitution, Section 7(1) of the Act as well as clauses 4.0 and 5.1.1 of the regulation, clearly evinces that there is no specific amount or percentage stipulated as a lump sum that a retiree of claimant’s age(60 years and above) can withdraw.

“Secondly, the amount to be withdrawn by a retiree of claimant’s age is to be calculated in view of his life expectancy.

“His right to his pension shall not be altered or withheld to his disadvantage and finally the quarterly withdrawal has to be at his discretion, i.e. he has to opt for it and not at the whims and caprices of the 1st defendant to determine what and how he could withdraw same.

“The W.H.O in 2018, puts the life expectancy of a male Nigerian at 54.7 years, which is approximate to 55 years. This said, the claimant, in this case, has lived beyond the projection of W.H.O. of a life expectancy of a male Nigerian. This in my view displays the inadequacy of man and human frailty, in other words, no one can actually determine when a man will die, except his maker”
