All the principles involved in how a christian shuld view riches and wealth is found in 1 timothy 6:6-10 $ 17-18..... 6 But godliness with contentment is great gain. 7 For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. 8 But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that. 9 Those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. 10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs. Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. 18 Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share... There shuld be a balance.... Christians are not to be determined to get rich neither shuld an already rich person desire for more and more wealth......... Rather contentment shuld be a christians watch word......... In verses 17 $ 18 there admonishes those who are already rich while as christians not to focus on there riches but to focus on godliness..how?by using there riches to help d needy,in doing good works...that's in line with what Jesus told that rich man when he was on earth....... So CONTENMENT is what a christian shuld be envisaging not how to become wealthy.... Why?? Because it'll be easier for a camel to pass thru d eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter into Gods kingdom.... From Jesus statement it can be drawn that only an infinitessimal few who are christians and also rich @ d same time can enter into Gods kingdom..... Final point ![]() A christian shuld ponder over contentment and not how to gain riches... |
musKeeto: No one should be rich. You work hard to get rich... or you get an inheritance.. or get lucky... No one is born with a right to be rich.. not even getting 'born again' would do that...D scripture supports ur stance..... But what's with d picture?? Who's that?? Your cousin??lol |
Delafruita: i concur |
Deep Sight: Seriously. This cannot be possible anywhere in the world in 2012. Surely there must be some falsehood somewhere.Abiiii....... Racism in da church.... |
Logicbwoy: Hey, can God create a rock that he can not move?WHICH ROCK ARE U TALKING ABOUT?? |
Logicbwoy: The religion section is boring nowadays.WE WERE NOT DEBUNKED....U GUYS HAVE INSULTED OUR GOD(YAHWEH) WHICH OFCUS GETS US ANNOYED..... ![]() BUT U GUYS HAVENT REALLY DEBUNKED COMPLETELY IF THERE IS A CREATOR..... ![]() |
MyJoe: @IjawkidUR WELCOME BRO..... ![]() WE CULD BE FREINDS U KNOW..... ![]() WHAT DO U THINK?? |
Cogent: ^^^Ok, I've heard you.i'm back bro...... .....ok here's my lil explanation as regards ur question.... The verse ur quoting from is exodus 20:5……. considering the context, Yahweh inaugurated the Law covenant with the nation of Israel. After hearing the terms of the covenant, the Israelites declared publicly: “All that Yahweh has spoken we are willing to do.” (Ex. 19:5- The nation as a whole thus entered into a special relationship with yahweh. So the words at Exodus 20:5 were fundamentally directed to the whole nation. When the Israelites remained faithful to Yahweh, the nation benefited and enjoyed many blessings. (Lev. 26:3- The opposite also held true. When the nation of Israel rejected Yahweh and went after false gods, he withdrew his blessing and protection; the nation suffered calamity. (Judg. 2:11-18) Granted, there were some who maintained their integrity and kept God’s commandments despite the nation’s idolatrous course. (1 Ki. 19:14, 18) Faithful ones likely experienced some hardship because of the nation’s sins, but Yahweh expressed loving-kindness toward them. When Israel became so flagrant in violating Yahweh’s principles that his name became an object of derision among the nations, Yahweh determined to punish his people by allowing them to be taken captive to Babylon. Of course, this included punishment of individuals and of his people as a group. (Jer. 52:3-11, 27) Indeed, the Bible shows that Israel’s collective guilt was so great that three, four, or possibly more generations were affected by the misdeeds of their forefathers, just as Exodus 20:5 states. God’s Word also contains accounts where individual families were affected by parental misconduct. High Priest Eli offended Yahweh by allowing his “good-for-nothing,” immoral sons to remain as priests. (1 Sam. 2:12-16, 22-25) Because Eli honored his sons more than Jehovah, God decreed that Eli’s family would be cut off from the high priesthood, which happened starting with his great-great-grandson, Abiathar. (1 Sam. 2:29-36; 1 Ki. 2:27) The principle of Exodus 20:5 is illustrated by the example of Gehazi as well. He abused his position as Elisha’s attendant in order to benefit materially from the curing of Syrian General Naaman. Through Elisha, yahweh pronounced judgment, saying: “The leprosy of Naaman will stick to you and your offspring to time indefinite.” (2 Ki. 5:20-27) So Gehazi’s descendants were affected by the consequences of his wrongdoing. As Creator and Life-Giver, Yahweh has every right to determine what punishment is just and appropriate. The above instances show that children or descendants may feel the ill effects of their ancestors’ sin. However, yahweh “hears the outcry of the afflicted ones,” and individuals who earnestly turn to him may receive his favor and even some measure of relief.—Job 34:28. Besides, that convenant and instruction was for the nation of isreal and for them alone…today God deals with all sorts of persons from diff tribes ,tongues and nations..we will be judged on an individual basis….. Also don’t forget Ezekiel 18:20 Ezekiel 18:20 New International Version (NIV) 20 The one who sins is the one who will die. The child will not share the guilt of the parent, nor will the parent share the guilt of the child. The righteousness of the righteous will be credited to them, and the wickedness of the wicked will be charged against them ……….that scripture affirms Gods balanced view of justice…… But note::: when ever individuals kept Gods standards they were blessed……. |
Fr0sbel: The only true nation under God is that group of people, which I have been describing, who are followers of Jesus Christ, the one who was sent by the Father to redeem our wicked souls. Jew and Gentile alike are part of this one nation under God which is described below:ur correct bro.... followers of Gods son are the 1 true nation not any physical nation as it was with the physicAL JEWS in the past.... |
MyJoe: Thank you, Ijawkid, for your contribution to the discussion.so in all i think u feel the witnesses stance on there neutrality to wars and d worlds politics isnt correct and that it shuld rather have been an individuals decision...??right?? and as regards the ogboni issue i will really like u to show me 1 top politician who isnt part of ogboni or any other frat... ****u asked me to explain how d involvement of professed christians in d past has led to many turning to atheism and being irreligious.... if u can remember d crusade that claimed d lives of many,d fraud that was perpetuated by d ruling class then and all d atrocities committed by them.... those atrocities were committed by those who claimed to follow Jesus.. u know what d papacy did....politics and being an ardent follower of christ are just not compatible.... even scientists who werent witnesses could understand how politics workk.... like u agreed quite well that we live in a satan ruled world that is soon to crush...even Jesus understood that and shuned political sits...u know that quite well...jesus who had so much power would have been in d best position to delve into the politics of his day,but he bluntly refused knowing whose hands d rulership of these earthly kingdoms belonged to and how soon he himself will crush human governments.... if we wanna imitate jesus then we gotta espouse his stand and follow suit....witnesses just follow Jesus"s footstep, nothing more nothing less.... back in d 1st century the apostles and early christians as a group abided by directions from the holy spirit and also followed jesus steps...we are 100% percent sure that d 1st century christians were neutral when it came to war and politics..all they did was preach, preach and preach knowing they had a short period of time and knowing ruling in satans world is weightless effort,,...after all these governmemnts we see today will be crushed by Gods kingdom...the business of d christians back then was to promote Gods kingdom and not humans or satans.... would u have also asked d apostles why they didnt and wont involve themselves in wars?? would u have said that d early christians were just following the orders of d apostles and not Jesus?? if a witness presumpteously decides to go to war for his country just as u want who would he be shooting @ and killing??he might end up shooting a fellow witness who's neutral as respects war and also be killing his neighbour who is from a diff country.... jesus sternly told d apostle peter::he that kills by d sword dies by it....if Jesus wanted his followers to be engaging in conflicts no matter hw justified many will want to make it look(just as peter carried out a reprisal attack by cutting a soldiers ear all in d thought of defending jesus, which would sound right to many today) or engage in wars of any sort he wuldnt castigate peter for his actions.. what on earth will make d witnesses remain neutral in these 2 aspects we are considering if not because they wanna follow Jesus footsteps?? if d witnesses dnt imitate jesus then who should they imitate?? individual views?? now i"ll ask u:::would u as a christian wanting to follow jesus engage in war??if nigeria decides to go to war with another nation will u pick up arms to defend nigeria, and kill for d country(killing fellow christians who are on the other side)?? witnesses are peace makers and pursuers of peace till thy kingdom come... next time u find it a problem why d witnesses remain neutral to wars and politics ask your self what jesus would do?? will Jesus engage in war and politics?? remember who we are:::FOLLOWERS OF CHRIST,not followers of our own originality..... its good to defend ur rights and speak up when been oppressed ,but there shuld be a limit.. would u like many violently speak up...?? if in nigeria our only hope to erect a better govt is to engage in a violent revolution just as it was in libya, egypt etc would u as a christian pick up arms against d govt?? in some african countries series of revolts took place just to flush out so called bad government.. would u as a christian join in such revolts??join in fighting against d govt??killing and being brutal just because ur fighting for a short lived right?? witnesses respect superior authorities and maintain there neutral stand just as Jesus did.... if all professed christians culd imitate jesus's neutrality i bet if we will even experience tribal wars.... i love d witnesses for there calmness and peacefulness and worldwide love.... nothing seperates them nor stops them from loving each other...no political party can seperate them, because they belong to no political party.. witnesses are ready to die just to be peacable with all men... and as such would never engage in wars for any reason whatso ever.. is that nt what Jesus wuld do?? as a group d witnesses are united in christlike love,... my dad simply became a witness just for d fact that d witnesses as a group and as individuals didnt take part in d biafra war.... while other persons who claimed to be following christ engaged in d civil war killing each other irrespective of there religion and denomination, d witnesses were out there preaching about a time when wars will cease..it got my dad surprised!!!!!... what would Jesus do??always ask urself that question..... altho d witnesses have had some past flaws, but as regards there neutrality to wars and politics they GOT IT ALL RIGHT.... Jesus set that standard and that is what they stick to.... thanks.... |
OLAADEGBU: His Son's Nameplease is I AM THAT I AM somebody's name ??exodus 3:15 mentions the very name that does last forever..... and u know that name....the tetragrammatonm(YAHWEH).... moses didnt tell d isrealites that i am that i am sent him, moses mentioned Gods name (Yahweh to them)..... when did I AM THAT I AM become a name? |
Ptolomeus: But ... dear friend ...Yeah I know falsehood abounds... Even Jesus prophecied that this is how it will be... But definitly d end will be very disastrous for such perpetrators including d chief(satan).... Satan wuld not be winning forever.. It is he that laughs last that laughs best..... |
Ptolomeus: Dear friend:Not all anticipate an end to make money out of it.... Some like me really want to see an end to this depraved world..... Satan aint winning nothing... They say ""always save d best cut last'"" Satan knws he aint winning.... He knows an end to his life is fast approaching |
Area_boy: How do you know that?.. Psalms 90: 4 "For a thousand yeeres in thy sight are but as yesterday when it is past: and as a watch in the night."Oboy those verses just shows u that Gods timetable and ours are so not d same.... 2peter u quoted says it all.... |
Cogent: Are you sure? Why does your bible say nothing about those that are not in their senses instead of leaving you to guess? He won't purnish insane persons except ur head is convincing u he will....... U want to hear from my mouth that God will a destroy mad persons who weren't conscious of there actions..... He is a God of justice and so he won't take a mad mans action into account.... And talking about purnishing unborn generations I'm gonna come up with an explanation.... |
tomakint: I throw it open so that people can air their views. Its a hotly debated topic and I believe someone out there can shed more light already you know where I stand on this, what is your own take. Christ referenced and respected GOD as his father, God is the creator He achieved this through Christ as explained in John 1: 1-2, Colosians 2. I mean let's learn not an argumentative thingYou are totally correct... I support ur stance on the issue.... u got it right.... |
Logicbwoy: Email or yahoo chat? Both of em..... Email wuld be better so that we can always continue our discuss from where we stop....:-)... Oya this is my email add... Wagskehinde@yahoo.com |
Logicbwoy: lol......but God doesnt exist.I wuld love it if we emailed each other... I use my phone so its much difficult for me to type really fast... And u know some of ur freinds will derail our discussion...lol If ur ready we culd use our emails...:-).... |
Cogent: Where did you ask that question before? That shuld mean we all in nigeria are all mentally ill if depression is synonymous to mental illness...... But let's conclude this issue..... Mad people aren't conscious of there environment...... God being merciful will overlook there acts done when in that mentally crazy state.... God is wise and a just God..... |
Logicbwoy: Then why do you claim the end is near? God could end the world in year 5012.I agree God can end d world in the year 5012... That is his time.... Our view of time is completely different frm God's........... |
tomakint: I don't seems to get it why this doctrine has generated so much confusion even in Christendom! My take has always been God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit are three distinct (separate) Supernatural Beings United in Agreement of purpose, vision, spirit and the likes and not what I hear around that they are actually three entity in one unified body all in the name of - its a MYSTERY! when the BIBLE clearly states the supremacy of God the Father over and above all as attested to by our LORD JESUS CHRIST! Please what is your take on this?Your point ![]() Do u think the Father is greater than the Son?? |
Logicbwoy: Who is talking about the film? I am talking about you and your fellow christians' failed doomsday theoriesOboy @ Gods appointed time dooms day will come.... @ his time not our time.... So get that bro...... |
toba: ignorance is not an excuse. IF i resigned my appointment cos im having issues with my boss or cos a misunderstanding at work, then i should take responsibility for being overzealous. A case of an insane person is different from that of a frustrated fellowD same principle applies.. If 1 is conscious of d fact that he wants to commit suicide that person will an must pay for his actions...its only 1 who's conscious of good and bad that'll be ready to face Gods judgement.. Mad persons can't distiguish btw right and wrong.. |
Cogent: I didn't say he was depressed. I said it is possible he suffered from it. And please avail yourself of the internet to know updates about the case. Sorry, but I can't come back to do that.So we are back to d same place.. Which is the guy suffering from that wuld make him go kill people...?? Depression, madness or what?? I don't know if u answered my question I asked earlier... Is depression = madness?? |
Logicbwoy: Lmao.......you have nothing to say.Watelse do u want me to say?? Na me produce d film? |
Logicbwoy: People like you would be sectioned in developed societies. We have been hearing that the end is near for over 2000 years from your type. Shut up.The movie 2012 aint my business..... An end is imminent.... Ur jejune view of time is not in anyway related to the way the Great time keeper(Yahweh) views time..... So go play around,do what u like, but that won't change Gods appointed times and seasons....... Repent oooooooooo..... Great tribulations that has not occured no nor will occur again is soon to come... Economic instability, threats of war, are just lil compared to what d great tribulation wuld look like....... When d end comes u'll hear of it even in ur grave...... Repent oooooooooo..... |
buzugee: BABYLONIANOh yeah I am..... If only logicbwoy will understand these prophecies and straigthen up.....lol |
buzugee: their is no such thing as THE END OF TIMES. it is metaphorical. the world is never ending. the world is here to stay forever. ( ecclesiastes 1 vs 4 ). when scripture says end of times, it simply means, end of the gentile era on earth. the earth has been given to the wicked gentiles ( job 9 vs 24 ) for a certain period of time so that they would plunge it into darkness and hell ( revelation 6 vs 4 ). a refining chamber, if you will. the purpose of this is to refine men and get them ready for the lords kingdom on earth that will come after this gentile era ( daniel 2 vs 44 ). the end of this torture chamber is the end of times. not the end of the world as we know it. the world aint ending. it is here to stay forever.End of wickedness and those perpetrating it not the literal earth we live in or world....... |
buzugee: ea7 dont need repentance. he needs an exorcismLmao........ He really does need it.... |
Logicbwoy: The woman called the atheist the devil.Am I d woman?? If she called d atheist a devil ,shuld that be my stand too?? Are atheists devils?? Naaaaaaaaa.............. If u love to be viewed as a demon then no wahala.... |
