Or he could have sex with her and she turns around and scream "ra.pe!" And in this era that sexual molestation is trending in US, then he would be glad to have lost only $200+ because the bills (bail, lawyers, etc)go up to thousands with guaranteed incarceration.

GoodFaith: It is more easier to collect rent in the US than Nigeria With a Judgement and the tenant place of work You can file papers and collect Or with Judgement file paper to take their state tax return if they get any taxes back from the state If It is a state that have state tax By the time you go through the rigmarole, I would have hired 4 Cele pastors, a bell and three white candles to come and dance in my compound and the tenants go . By the way I like how your statements are laced with a lot of "if". They are called "professional" tenants for a reason unless you are dealing with amateurs. They can file for continuance to drag the case out. They are in it to irritate and wear you out knowing that the court process does not move fast enough. Sometimes you will be better off with eviction only and count your losses. / |

/ The ugly side of property ownership/management that most people fail to mention. It is a lot easier to collect in Nigeria than US. Professional tenants in US have all the tenancy laws at the back of their hands. The case going to court buys then at least another 6 months of free rent. Getting a judgment against them is one thing, collecting is a whole new headache. The court loves those filing fees. Now talking about Nigeria, tenants even form "association" to battle the landlord. I gave a flat for free to a troublemaker to act as a rent/debt collector and caretaker. But Enugu is where the most headache exists. Some people want to live in a place they cannot afford. First rent is never a problem. It is the subsequent rent renewal that all the long stories show up. Some tenants will turn to "artful dodgers". So when people build hostels(annual renewal) and hotels (daily renewal) in Nigeria, I understand. |

1. Your post reeks of pure hatred, envy, jealousy and makes you sound like the young man wronged you. 2. Paddy Adenuga did not throw his story at your face or force you to read through at gun point. 3. While you are entitled to your opinion, you should be reasonable and not make yourself a fool in the public square. 4. Paddy Adenuga's being privileged to be born into a rich family does not make him less of human being who shouldn't take his chances at life. He has taken a shot at life, hence his story. 5. It isn't Paddy Adenuga's fault that your father or my father aren't billionaires. 6. We are all hustling hard to provide a guaranteed future for our kids. If I eventually turn out to be a billionaire like Mike Adenuga, I don't expect anyone to throw my kids under the bus or rant because I have paid the price like Mike Adenuga has. Her approach is faulty. But the truth is that there is nothing inspirational about Paddy Adenuga's story. The only reason it drew so much attention in the first place is the surname. It will not take anything away from him to acknowledge it. Anything short of what he is doing will be a big disappointment. God has blessed his family materially but anyone who claims to draw inspiration from the story is merely sucking up. Billionaires have tales of missed deals and opportunities. From Buffet to Ortega. And I bet Mike Adenuga himself has some too. Can someone explain the inspiration they get from Paddy's story? / |

The friend of an enemy is an enemy. Nigeria continues to fail those who fought for one Nigeria. From SS, Middle Belt to NE. They were deceived with the "One Nigeria" propaganda not knowing that they fought for Fulani domination. He didn't get the deal because he was very immature and amateurish in the business negotiation. Edgar showed his interests in the deal and he should have concentrated on appealing to those interests during the negotiation -- where business meets psychology.
There is no guarantee that Remi would have made it happen. He may be a friend but not all so-called friends mean well. There is a reason why his instincts made him to hide the deal from Remi. Good thing he followed his instincts.

The attack which lasted for hours started from 1am.Mr Augustine was shot straight on the head. His remains have been deposited at General Hospital,North Bank Makurdi.
His brother,Hon Matyondo John, claimed the body and conveyed the corpse to the mortuary. He described the attack as evil committed against his family by the herdsmen.
An online who visited the mortuary said...
'While I was at the mortuary, my heart was bleeding blood especially when I saw the wife and the two little children crying for their husband and dad respectively that was then been prepared by the mortuary attendant.
My cry is to the world to know that what is been said about herdsmen attack on the Benue nation is not fabrications, the killings are real, and the Federal govt has not done enough to address the situation.
I also want to call for the arrest of the Miyetti Allah leadership by the federal Government to stop this killings.
Since we have refuse to give up our land, we don't have a choice but to protect our land and our lives, so this is the time to act.
RIP Mr Augustine yaagee and all souls of the departed'.

kopell: gragra no go bring money out of pocket oh. I understand. If there is anything one can learn from oyibo business, it is that they push cost-cutting measures to the limit. If it were to be an American builder, they will have a small nice office as big as a 40ft container with banners and flags leading to the site. This gives life to the property. But it seems that Spyder880 is building a 1-storey office instead. If there is any semblance of activities, some people may be pushed to start building. Some folks may even assist in mobilizing logistics to the area. Real estate development is very capital intensive which is why some corporations go through banks. Or in this case, Spyder880 could find very cheap and effective ways to stretch his fund. I wanted to chime in initially but knowing Nigerian business people and pretense, Spyder880 could have atleast N10 billion stashed in his account for play but will still come online to wail with us. It is all in the act. / |

diordaves: This is the true picture of estates; not so much as the hidden charges but the long term viability of the vending company. With true diligence probe, most of these estate schemes will take 10 to 15 years to come to fruition and given the whimsical nature of Nigerian businesses: here today, gone tomorrow; most people will never get allocated before the company go burst which encourages the owner communities to agitate for their land leading to court cases and messy situation for those who paid into the scheme. The golden rule is if the scheme is not OFFICIALLY backed by a bank or finance company; think twice. If you must promote a scheme running into billions of Naira, you MUST have your finance in place before hand and not from piecemeal selling of allocations and these "allocations" are in the air. What if there are limited takers or subscribers what next? Those who rushed to pay first will suffer.
So the first thing to investigate is to find out if the vendors have their finances in place and how credible are the vendors legal representation/chambers. If you must sell parcels of land somethings in the 5 million region; it is not unreasonable to ask for your legal team and your finances. You should also be worried about a case like this: http://saharareporters.com/2016/06/09/real-estate-developer-uses-mobile-police-abuse-tenantsYou start with one developer and end up with another who starts demanding fresh payments. Sadly, I know all the main parties in this transaction. It was very complicated because everything pointed to Aso Rock but nobody wants to add that angle to the story. The lawyers made the matter worse. |

This is the part that I feel sad and sorry for politicians of Igbo extraction. During GEJ's time, they handed over their support too early in the race that GEJ took all the money to the opponents to buy their votes. The Igbo politicians cried marginalization. GEJ ended up spending most of the campaign fund up North and in the SW region. That's what happens when you show your hands very early in the game.
Come 2018, the charlatans were the first group to run to Aso Rock to support PMB's candidacy. Guess where PMB will be sharing money? North and SW. Wait and see how Igbo politicians will start spewing hate when the funds take flight to the other regions.
