I dey fear o. When you see all these places you're familiar with, being attached like this, you begin to wonder where's next. |
dorothy111: Yet super Barcelona can't beat 9 men chelshit, la liga is a crap. Barcelona finds it so hard to play Celtic, tell you what, Barcelona won't survive stoke, Sunderland, Everton without dropping a point. But you forgot what Barca did to Man U - the king of EPL in 2011 UCL final. Selective choice of facts. |
Nice one. A few more tips: What are your salary expectations? -If interviewing for an experienced poistion, ensure you do your research and have idea about what is the pay for similar position in the company, then top it up with few millions. E.g you're going for an interviewfor supervisory position and your research shows supervisors in that coy earn 5-7m pa. You can make a request for 8-10m depending on other factors like special quality you have, where you're coming from and observed desperation of the employer. At the end of the negotiation, you may get up to 6-8m. -If entry level, you hardly have control over the pay, so you mmay have a response like this: 'As a responsible and well structured organization, I believe you have in place a remuneration structure and I know I will be fairly paid based on where I fit in". But if pressed further to state a sum, you can give a range based on what you know entry level staff earn there and probably add 1 or 2 millions. E.g you know entry levels there earn 2.5m, you can say 'anything between 3-4m should be fair enough' |
remark D: Erhm, (was gonn' say this way back when, but got pretty occupied real quick, but) but good to see you noticed it too, you're a sharp girl (i guess); Master Jarus just played politics there by using/playing his "mod.-card" ..... Check it:You must have had A in history 101. |

naturalwaves: From what I have observed, most of the so called Multinational Companies post adverts in the media just for posting sake to fulfil all righteousness as about 70% of the positions are already fixed particularly the jobs for fresh graduates.Frankly, this defeatist mentality is why some graduates don't get job I.e going to battle(jobs recruitment process) with mindset that you can never win. I have undergone recruitment process in Shell, Total, Oando and Seven Energy and worked for 2 of those and all were purely based on merit. I have friends in Shell, Chevron, etc and got there purely on merit, because they were good enough to scale the recruitment hurdles, not because they knew anybody. In any case, these are guys that are from wretched of homes you can think of but very brilliant. I got my current job through Guardian advert. So I don't knwo which MNC you're talking about. |
ambrosini593: The situation of living without a job in this country is frustrating and worrisome. Every graduate had it in mind that after graduation is a job and marriage. But getting to the labour market is a different story. Companies don't want to employ, the few ones that are employing are through connections and family members. Everyday you see graduates roaming the streets looking for jobs, scammers are everywhere looking for people to scam. I could remember how I saw a particular guy on his knees begging a manager outside his office just for a job. I almost cried for the guy that day. Some graduates don't even have money to make photocopies of their credentials not to talk of transportation to interview venues. On respect, they are no longer respected by family members, relatives and friends. Even on nairaland, you see thousands of graduates submitting cv and emails on any job vacancies just to keep hope alive. How are you surviving without a job, because I know it is not easy. I thank God I have something doing. What of you? Please share your story so that others can learn from youThis seems to suggest getting a job is automatic for a graduate, irrespective of how brilliant or good he is. Not meaning to be insensitive, but I know only a very few good graduates that stay at home without job for more than one year after NYSC. And it took so long for some of them because the recruitment cycle(from test to interview to medical to placement) that takes up to 6 months or more. I hate to be this frank, but truth is if you make a good grade in school, good enough to defend it,savvy enough to access right info, smart enough to package yourself well, you will hardly struggle to get job. At least you'll be called for tests and it's now left for you to scale the competition. It is now common to hear lines like 'I have 2.1, I have MBA, I have this, I have tthat, but I am still without job". What have you made of the tests you were called for? Did you pass them? How is that anyone's fault. When I receive the CVs of some of our so called graduates still struggling in the labour market, I shake my head. Poor English, bad presentation, irrelevants etc. |
The number of Yoruba and Igbo that speak Hausa fluently is more than the number of Hausa and Igbo that speak Yoruba and both more than the number of Yoruba and Hausa that speak Igbo. For me, I have only met one non-Igbo(defined narrowly as Yoruba and Hausa, holding others constant) that speaks Igbo and but met thousands of Igbo that speak Yoruba or Hausa. On a lighter note, Zik and Ojukwu spoke the 3 languages very fluently |
safarigirl: Nigeria is ultimately a better pick if he wants to further his rep, England has too many stars trying to shine, but here, his star will glow rather than dim, so it's a good move all the same, too bad EnglandBut England stand a better chance of winning a world cup or Euro than Nigeria, so even if he is fringely part of that success it means more to his career than playing every match for Nigeria and winning nothing. But actually, I believe Nigeria and England are on the same pedestal in football. Only difference is that one is in Europe and play Euro with more exposure and has the most watched league. |
First name most, many also have surnames(especially colleagues). Very few, nicknames. Some addition of first name and something to recall e.g Olawalebabs Nairaland. Only very few have all these Mr, Dr |
It can be dangerous |
Hmmmnnn, no be small thing o Meanwhile, the man that expects to be paid 250-300k is dreaming sha. I don't see Dangote paying such for a driver abeg. A fresh grad/entry level earns btw 80-100k in Dangote. Max 150k for the drivers. |
baysol: Muslims are the pollutants of Yoruba land. When many of top who-is-who in Yorubaland are Muslims. From MKO Abiola to Bola Tinubu to Fashola to Jakande - the last 2 being arguably the 2 greatest performing elected public officers that have ever ruled a Yoruba state |
Yay, na this bata be this! Long time |
The drugs we take from orthodox medicine are made majorly from leaves and roots which is what agbo is also made of. So to some extent, should be safe. However, agbo is not regulated. Regulation brings about right mix of the constituents of modern medicine, reduces concentration and all that, but we don't have that in agbo, just cook the whole leaves and take it. Also, there is the hygiene issue in agbo. |
I think in this day and age where institutions of different countries are aligning themselves to breach the divide, ICAN is retreating into the dark! Like Engineering, Accounting is a global practice with very minor domestication, hence, there is no need whatsoever to forbid foreign trained Accountants with ACCA, etc from seeking automatic membership of ICAN, if truly ICAN follows the same global standards of practice in Banking, of course we know they do not, hence the reason most foreign banking institutes do not allow automatic conversion of ICAN's certificate. They better learn a lesson from COREN...
It is 'retreating to the dark' for ICAN to make ACCA holders write exams before admitting them into their folds, but it is not, for ACCA doing same to ICAN holders? Abi? |
Msc Finance is it for me. Msc Accounting is almost useless except you want to be in academics. I hardly advise people to gor Bsc Accounting sef. Read whatever course, even engineering or law, and just write ICAN and ACCA and you are an Accountant. Someone with Bsc Agric plus ICAN stands a better chance of getting Accounting job than someone with Bsc, Msc Accounting. |
Try to get a very good result for your Bsc. Be good good enough to defend it. That is enough to get a decent job as a fresh grad. Having professional certs can help further. |
shol: I don't know why Seun and the Mods' keep acting like this, i was banned today for posting on a thread i was the second τ̅☺ post and i was banned,Doesn't he know that things like that makes nairaland interesting and more, does he wants everyone τ̅☺ start doing has he does? ghettodreamz: Bad habit there for an interviewee who had to wait for his/her turn to be called in for an interview .. Anyway it got you engaged during the waiting period, hope you land yourself the job sha..I'm a very unconventional person actually, especially when I'm not so desperate for something. BTW, never flunked an interview. Tests, yes. With my phone I doubt anywhere can be boring to me. I was surfing Nairaland with my BB on my groom's chair on my wedding day. |

Hausa easiest, followed by Yoruba, and Igbo the hardest. |
Long overdue. As an ICAN holder I am writing 5 papers to be ACCA-qualified, but ACCA holders dont write anything before getting ICAN certificate. |
Ensure your phone is fully charged so you can keep surfing NL. I once kept myself busy with my phone surfing NL while I waited to be called in for an interview. |
