This is the reason why I wanted to see the letter before commenting. Church growth index is not the same as 'income generation' or whatever the heck was circulating on the internet.

What was circulating in the media was based on the interview the 'pastor' granted. He went to meet the state pastor concerning the sacked letter and he was told that his branch was running at a loss as the income generated cannot sustain the branch and the church running at a loss isn't acceptable. The pastor said he is being paid #40,000 monthly as contained in his employment letter. He wasn't the only one sacked. The "church growth index" was really about low income generated.

There is a notorious Singaporean match fixer known as Wilson Raj Perumal. He is notorious for organising a lot of scam/fixed friendly matches for African countries, especially Southern African countries. His activities have led to the resignation, banning and dismissal of a lot of sports officials in South Africa, Botswana, Zimbabwe and Sierra Leone. He is also known for fixing matches in Asia and his activities led to the Asia-gate match fixing scandal. Mr Perumal has tried to fix matches in the Finnish League and the English Premier League.


Mr Perumal allegedly contacted Siasia and told him that there was a job vacancy in Australia. He was to help Siasia get the job if Siasia agrees to field players that Mr Perumal would select. Siasia had previously played in Australia in the 1990s.


However, the Australian club never accepted Siasia's demands, so he never got the job. Investigations into Mr Perumal revealed e-mail exchanges between him and Siasia. (Mr Perumal has been arrested and jailed in both Singapore and Finland for match fixing). This came to the notice of FIFA and the rest is history.

Mr Siasia said that he never met Mr Perumal and that he didn't do anything wrong. He said that he never accepted Mr Perumal's offer. He said Perumal contacted him by e-mail about a job offer in Australia, but the deal fell through because they couldn't pay what he wanted.



The Court for Arbitration in Sports reduced Mr Siasia's ban to five years because it said that Mr Siasia did not benefit anything (monetary or otherwise) from the interaction and he did not actually fix any match (he was never employed by the Australian club). Furthermore, they said that it was a first time offence and so it would be too harsh to ban him for life.

It is being reported that Mr Siasia plans to challenge the decision of the court.


However, Mr Perumal does have a connection with Nigeria. He claims in his book that he ferried Nigeria and Honduras to the final rounds of the 2010 South Africa FIFA World Cup by fixing their qualification matches. Mr Siasia was not the coach at the time.

I got the Note 10 too. I remembered Peculiar telling me to get the NOTE 10 PRO instead. I declined thinking the difference is only the camera. O would have enjoyed a better camera, processor and a higher refresh rate. It is not as if I can't afford it o. If not for the stress of transferring my files, I would have upgraded to the RN10 PRO.

Anyway its you and your God. But i just wanted to point out that bringing phones or tablets to church despite your intentions, would always leave you distracted, especially when it comes to a part of service you find boring.

I use a SAMSUNG GALAXY TAB with internet capabilities on WIFI or SIM. it has a 4g sim I seldom use. I intentionally leave it on airplane mide as I do most of my work on mobile phone. Sure, there will always be distraction. Even if I don't bring my phone or tablet I may still be just as distracted which I do. But the ushers should know that it is my distraction not theirs. What I take out from Nigerian church services is less than 10% the rest are just meaningless jamboree.

You may not use your phone to disturb or distract others, but you it could be distracting to you.

It's very easy to say that you're using your phone only phone Bible reading reading and hymns. But it would always be tempting to pull it out to check if someone has replied you on WhatsApp or to check someone's status.

The congregation I attend (you and I are the church) sell their own hymn book which to me is just a selection of some songs from those old hymn books like "sacred songs and solos" and "Redemption hymnal" (not rccgc's redemption hymnal)
I downloaded "GAC GOSPEL HYMN BOOK" and "SACRED SONGS and SOLOS" both contain 99+% of the hymns my church uses. I especially like that former very much because the songs are also in Yoruba and other languages and it has very rich content. The developers try and it is free.
The distraction is inevitable with my phone on, but with my tablet alone with me, no distractions as I always put it on AIRPLANE MODE when I am in church.

It is your phone, your personal property. I take my phone to church which I may use alongside my tablet. I have my bible and hymns app on both. I primarily use the tablet for both hymns and bible reading. If the hymn called isn't in my hymn app on my table, I use my phone to search for the hymn on the Internet. I always put my tablet on AIRPLANE MODE and SILENT/DND. My phone will be on SILENT/DND mode when I am in the church. I won't use the phone to disturb or distract anyone. I don't have paper bible again for some years now when I have more than 20 different versions of bible app on my phone and tablet.

Bad advice. Very very bad. Unless you're not a Christian, skipping tithing isn't a good idea. Not just for the blessings but for obedience. Even though there are too many fake pastors in Nigeria, that doesn't preclude the reality that tithing is unto God.

Don't live in BC era my dear. I am a church worker too. I minister in the alter every sunday but I stopped paying tithe when I learnt the truth. I might not be rich yet but I am not poor by any stretch of the imagination. The first 1million naira I made in my life, (I had more than that in liquid cash though) I made it when I have stopped paying tithe.
