Education › Re: NOUN Students Forgive Those Who Discriminated Them, but Won't Tolerate Recurrence by JuanDeDios: 10:27am On Dec 14, 2018 |
germanized: It makes no sense that a federal institution is witnessing discrimination from another federal institution like NYSC and Council of Legal Education in the case of the law school. What is the job of the NUC and Ministry of Education? Is it not the same government that created the school? The late Obafemi Awolowo studied Law via correspondence (distance learning) and is a national icon today.
HND vs BSc., we discriminate (in the UK, OND and HND can be completed in 2 years, in Nigeria, 5 years +1 year NYSC) Polytechnic vs. University, we discriminate Part-time vs. full-time, we discriminate Hausa vs Igbo vs Yoruba, we discriminate
We have a national problem of discrimination and the earlier we addressed it and made necessary reforms, the better for us as a nation.
If there are certain issues, these things can be solved. NOUN is by far the largest university in Sub Saharan Africa and has the tendency of being the best if the school authorities have good intentions.
In South Africa, UNISA, their own version of NOUN is widely recognized and even preferred to other conventional universities as they prefer people who already have work experience. But here, we discriminate our own things and go abroad to places like Ghana, Benin Republic where students study in container classrooms and business complex-based universities like Accra Institute of Technology etc., yet we allow them serve after they bring their certificates home. Shame! It's a crying shame! |

"Indecent act" or "gross indecency" does not mean sex. In Nigeria, that refers to homosexual acts and the rest of it Shogunle is right; the CP and his advisers are wrong. But that's speaking legally. Sex in a car in an open place is not something I'd encourage anyone to do in Nigeria. |

pocohantas: Gender based recruitment would always exist in every sector. There is a reason most nannies/customer care agents are women...while drivers are men.
This one only made the mistake of being so bold about it and that is what will put them in trouble. Whoever typed that letter should be sacked though, so unprofessional. Other organizations would have simply said "we will get back to you".
Biko, no one should quote me and ask me if I will say same if tables turn, yes I will and I have said it before. Y'all hailed me that day and commended the guy knacking feminism outta my head...Have a nice day. Spot on. Everyone has a right to decide what they want. These folks are just uncouth. |

Ehiscotch: Imagine if this was the other way round. Man, feminists would start a campaign all over social media for the victim.
Seriously, this is really dumb (and surprisingly bold) of the firm to reject an applicant in such demeaning and derogatory manner.
In other climes, they could be sued for this. Their letter is very poorly worded, but in fairness to them, it appears they did specify in their request to the Service that they wanted two females. NYSC should have complied or declined to send anyone. Or send males and expect a rejection. |

luvmijeje: I've read your reasons but in making your point you failed to realize that men are wired to believe in something.
For instance you. You believe in your fellow men..... The scientist. But science don't give hope. It doesn't give love. It doesn't give companionship the way religious does. You all failed to realize the need to believe in something is just as critical as the need to live. But some people don't feel they have that need. More importantly, though, is the fact that need does not have to be God. You just need to be a part of something bigger than you - that can be anything. |

Ehiscotch: Denying this only adds fuel to the fire. Buhari said" I am not a clone" but they say it's what a clone would say. The question is what would the real Buhari have said?
Only God knows what they would have said if they noticed a change in his accent or manner of speaking. I guess you can teach that to a clone too. That has been my position all along. Just ignore the nonsense. Too bad if Atiku and some other important people choose to give it credence by asking him to deny it as if a denial would change the mind of anyone who has chosen to believe it. |

So just because you hate Buhari you are willing to drag the image of the entire country in the mud? At first I decided I will not come home for this election. What's my point? You should pray for a man who will love you irrespective of your flaws and a man you will love irrespective of his flaws.
Most marriage are crashing today because most hide their flaws at a stage they shouldn't. I owe you one bottle of anything you drink. |

CityNGR: For example... My Audi A4 2.0 one of the simplest vw engines... For you to replace the engine coolant thermostat.. You'd have to remove the serpentine belt, alternator, intake manifold with the attendant plenty other things to be removed just for that manifold to come off. Now you have practically striped the engine to borale ... For what? Just to replace engine coolant thermostat!!!
Do I need to tell you about the yeye dual mass fly wheel? Or the fact that when your temperature gauge stops you hardly know which one of the coolant sensors is responsible.. Or is it the door lock mechanism that I need to explain? Like heavenlybang said there are less stressful options I see. Thank you. Which would you say are less stressful options, for example? |
