KingSango: I only give a common sense message. Africa fell into slavery and colonialism due to outside interference and internal corruption. The outside interference is Amnesty, CIA, Isis, and the inside corruption are people inviting in outsiders to settle local power struggles. When will y'all stop this awful betraying division? Yea. No need to base factual assertions on facts - facts should be adduced from common sense. AI is out to destroy Nigeria for telling the Army to stop abusing Nigerian civilians - common sense. |

MissRaine69: No I am not but I make allowances for those who struggle with the lanaguage. Having a good command does not give you respect that is a quintessential Nigerian/African trait to believe that bs !No native English speaker will laugh or make an issue because someone struggles with the intrinsic aspects of English grammar. That is what we do to each other. So do I. Once you can be understood, you're good to go with me. Even among native speakers, your ability to use any language well confers respect upon you - doesn't matter if it's English, Yoruba or Mandarin. I have a cousin I defer to for his exceptional mastery of my mother tongue. Being good at anything at all confers respect - there's nothing African or colonial about that. The only point you can make is that we tend to fixate too much on "English" and carry on as if not being fluent in English is a disability. That is true but it can't be helped as long as English is our language of secular education. People feel the need to encourage kids to do well in English - if we're using it we might as well use it well. |

GoldHorse: Below is a submission from @Kingsango. Please be educated.
America funds terrorists worldwide and train them. America funded and trained Al Queda and Taliban, so essentially that took fighters from Al Queda and Taliban to create Isis with 2 billion went missing out a shipping warehouse in Iraq. This money the CIA used to find Isis. Now you have Isis helping Boko Haram and other terrorists to destabilize nations the US wants to colonize. America fake 911 and sets the tone for housing and the treatment of terrorists. This treating terrorists with human rights increases it's zeal. These people have decided to make a living being hired killers. Yes, it was discovered by security forces Boko Haram were paying poor people along the border of Nigeria $2000 U.S dollars to join the group. The attacks they carry send shockwaves of fear that erodes peace and stability of the market in Nigeria. Amnesty international is doing the same to Buhari they tried with the Philpino President Duetes. You must hear his eluogent response.... grin And this brilliantly written, fact-based piece was written by... Kings... Kings... Yeah, everybody knows him. He's an authority on international high politics. I've been educated. Thank you. |

MissRaine69: Has that stopped those individuals from progressing because they have used were instead of where? You're one of them "grammar no be my language" crew. I see. Well, no, but it depends. If you have grammar issues, that can't stop your progress in life -just stick to things that don't call for sound grammar and you'd be fine. We shouldn't judge people by their grammar unless they're in a place where it matters - writer, broadcaster, teacher, etc. But, again, we can't really help it - having a good command of the language gives you respect and people tend to take you more seriously, and that can contribute to your progress, whether you realise it or not. |

lalasticlala: Stop targeting Amnesty’, Falana tells Nigerian Army
But Falana said, “I am very concerned that rather than telling Nigerians what they would do to address the very damaging allegations made by Amnesty International of grave human rights abuses against the Nigerian Army and other security agencies the Army is targeting Amnesty simply for working to hold the Army to account.” This is the problem I have with the Army. Not a single word about the issues. It's all AI this, AI that. And they want to be taken seriously. Ok o. |

MissRaine69: OP was not metaphorically speaking so I am not going to adjust the post to make it more arguable. It makes little sense otherwise. That's why people read between the lines. People who are native speakers of English still struggle with it at school - because it takes intelligence to master the intricacies of adverbs, concord and parallelism. It's the same issue with French or any language with a vast vocabulary and sophisticated grammar. |

Do you think all these western world have anything good in mind for Africans?
Do you think all these money and aids they "dash" us are really pure?
So you think AI and all other so called "international organizations" do not have some underlying agendas?
Well like I said earlier this is too deep for most to understand.
And my friend do you even know the genesis of some of these terrorists groups? Who started al khaeda? Who started this senseless isis, why was Ghadaffi killed? How is Lybia now? Have you done any research on 9/11? I am sure they are all conspiracy, right?

MissRaine69: Being able to speak English is NOT a measure of intelligence. There are whole countries were English is not spoken at all and they have space programmes and very intelligent beings there. Thinking it is a measure of intelligence is a throw back to a colonial past that made us subservient to our own capabilities. "English" is a metaphor for language here. The ability to acquire good spoken AND WRITTEN language skills is a mark of intelligence. But it only measures just one kind of intelligence - if you buy the theory of multiple intelligences. |

But I have worked in hospitals where doctors start treatment without payment...and then the patient absconds, and the hospital is left holding the debt.
And at the end of the day, it is choice between being heartless...or staying financially solvent to pay the bills, salaries, maintain standards.
The problem with Nigerians is that they want free stuff. Well....the thing is, there is no free stuff. Money has to be paid.Somehow.
Maybe we need a National Health Service, like the UK. Until the bill comes in.... Everything you have said is true. But these things have to be looked at on a case-by-case basis. These people paid - they did what was required of them - but their loved one still died. He died because we have evolved a society where there is a complete breakdown of trust such that a transfer done in your presence is doubted! Were they not shown "transfer successful"? I bet that wasn't enough! If e wan die make e die abeg, we neva see alert! It's a societal problem but I don't dig these doctors at all. May we not encounter their type. |

When hospitals have been left hanging after patients have not paid their bills, and flee...leading to hospital not being able to meet its financial obligaitons, which affects service to patients who do pay their bills....
Heartlessness is in order.
Sorry, but for once, try to see things from the other side. Hospitals need money to pay for stuff. Sometimes, it comes from the salaries of medical staff paying for 'indigent patients'. I think most people will understand your point. But in this case, a sensible person would have struck a balance and commenced treatment since a transfer had purported to be done in their presence and we all know alerts sometimes delay. Even illiterate traders sometimes part with their wares without having seen "alert". |

Most conductors in Lagos usually acts as if you are not entitled to asking for your change. We don't know what really led to the argument here since the narrator Ezinne was too obsessed with the Igbo-Yoruba thing to be clear-headed and objective. Conductors normally give people change but sometimes there is a dispute over the fare. Many Lagos conductors are terrible. So are many Lagos passengers. It's sad that things degenerated to the loss of lives and I hope those who carried out jungle justice instead of handing the culprit over to the police are arrested and punished. |

They did same under GEJ, that was why the us military couldn't sell us weapon. Let us put politics aside and fight this organization off our country. Before you side them, remember your citizens are being killed everyday in the hands of Boko Haram. EVarn: The concept of national security is often for the greater good of the majority.
I am not condemning AI for speaking up for people, but we have to make AI understands that speaking up for people is the only business they have in Nigeria. Going to the extremes of training spies, sponsoring dissidents, and carrying out activities that could exacerbate the conflict cannot be tolerated. YOU believe AI is training spies and sponsoring dissidents in Nigeria or anywhere? Ok. |

EVarn: Truly, these foreign NGOs sponsoring monitors and "spies" on ground is tantamount to espionage. While we agree that the objectives of AI in keeping the authorities on their toes is very admirable, it is also important for them to realise that where national security is involved they should thread with care. What is more important or " national security" than speaking up for vulnerable people and victims who have no one else to speak up for them? |

OkaNaUbe:

I banked with then before the days of Intercontinental Bank merger but I abandoned my account at Access bank two years ago. I notice that they charge a lot of monies from that account. Other banks charge "Card Maintenance fee" and transfer/withdrawal charges(if you withdraw more than twice on ATM and transfer charges for transfers) but ACCESS BANK deduct more than that even when I allowed the money in their bank to lie fallow.
At A time, if I saved, say N50k, before two monthe, the money will come down to say, N49100. I complained severally in their branch at Port Harcourt and AbJ but they didn't solve the issue. They charged "monthly card maintenance fee", " Transfer charges", SMS charge (to send me alert o)and other hidden charges every month. I had to withdraw my money and leave the ledger balance of N2000. Even till date, they still send me my monthly balance (e go don't be N0.00). Yeye bank!
I hope they won't bring that policy to Diamond Bank. I experienced something like this with one bank. When I stopped using the account, they continued sending me alerts of deductions. Then the account entered minus-something and they continued! Then one day they realised their folly and stopped. Now, they're calling me to revive the account. Their papa. |

CrimeBuster: As reported by Premiumtimesng and major dailies on 13th December , 2018. Two female students broke 21- year record in English Department at the just concluded Obafemi Awolowo University 43rd convocation ceremony. Read more about how they did it below
https://www.premiumtimesng.com/regional/ssouth-west/300831-two-graduates-break-21-year-first-class-dearth-in-oaus-english-department.html
Report reaching us says that none of the two students were awarded by the department. It was said that the Dean faculty of Art said no one deserved the award during the convocation ceremony.
How can you have two students with First-class and you're saying no one deserved the award?
Are the lecturers of the department jealous of the feat attained by these two students?
Are they sad because the students are females?
Or are they just clueless?
Efforts to contact the department as to why no one was awarded proved abortive as no lecturer wants to speak about the issue.
In this era where immoralities and other vices are being celebrated. How can these two brilliant students not be recognised. Being recognised or given an award is not a right. Maybe the department is broke. But it would have been good if they were given some award. |
