Who cares about such things in this day and age?

Men talk about such things but only for fun, never seriously. I've also had such funny discussions with friends but we were never serious about them. . . just things to laugh about.

What some of the frustrated women want is a situation where they can lord it over men and make men subject to them. You may wish to ask them what happened to their marriages that has made them so bitter and negative about relationships.

I have a feeling that you're married or in a very good relationship.

Many people have attitudes and beliefs based on what they have experienced in life so they come here and spill their gullets about things they dont really know.
There's no textbook about respect and what works for one person does not work for another.

I cook at home when I feel like it or when I know that I should. It's not my duty, neither is it my wife's duty but she believes that she should do it and I love her even more for that attitude. If she doesn't cook, I wont starve. At worst, I'll get in the kitchen and cook for myself or go and eat out.

There is no measure for respect - it's an individual thing and it is relative to circumstances and the couples involved. I could start talking about the things I see with some of my white friends who are either married or in relationships but it would not be nice. They can hide theirs better and because they are less populous than we are, theirs dont seem to be as pronounced.

The fact that most responsibly married women are unlikely to have too much time for the internet says a lot about the kind of views always expressed online.

why should we abandon what we believe just because some of you have self hatred and have to conform to whatever those you see as better than you say? What we believe is what we believe and there is absolutely nothing wrong with what we believe.

Most nigerians are thieves in themselves and waiting to get to positions where they can loot. Who then is the person guilty of corruption?
The earlier we realise that the problem is one resident in ALMOST ALL Nigerians, the better we will be. As it is now, I just dont see a way forward for the country until such a time as we all recognise our lapses rather than pointing fingers.

1.you didnt say anything about the 100 ppl that died for june 12 who have not been compensated till today,and kola abiola turning round to marry one of babangida's children, the very ppl they were fighting for marrying the daughter of the man that annuled the election, how did you think nnigerians felt?remember the average nigerian has a good memory, now imagine an americana or britico telling them from afar to fight again?

@ luca, your post says it all - that we are stupid - the fact that Kola turned round to marry IBB's daughter is enough for Nigerians to stand up against all the so-called people who have been in the limelight all these while because they are all the same. Time and chance is what differentiates them. If they were all out in similar situations, they'll do the same.

You know what? Nigerians are also exactly like that!

Most Nigerians will loot if they get into positions of authority. Its a mindset of our people; it's our mentality; it's been cultivated over years. That is why no one is willing to sacrifice to make changes which will move the nation forward. If we are willing to sacrifice our temporary comforts in exchange for a more secure future, we will move forward. However, we are not ready to do such hence we wallow in our state of motion without movement.

I will advocate a situation where every Nigerian goes to vote in elections AND they should learn to vote only for anyone who has never been involved in public political life. If such a person is found wanting after the first term in office, they should be voted out. It is a first step in achieving true democracy without a demonstration of CRAZE

You're missing the point - Nigerians are abusive when they feel insulted - fact.

What they want is for Nigerians to sing and dance whenever they are insulted by other people for fun. If you are insulted for entertainment as a Nigerian, you should laugh and clap for them.

Akata was never a derogatory term. Anything can become derogatory if people decide to develop chips on their shoulders.

When I was a kid, I had cousins who were Akatas and no one ever considered it derogatory. Even elders were labelled as such and it was never anything derogatory. It is the uninformed of the present generation who read silly meanings to things they dont understand.

@ luca, this is exactly the problem with us as Nigerians - we are not willing to sacrifice in order to enjoy later. We are too-shortsighted. That's why I decided to substitute the word cowards for stupid on the other thread.

I have to disagree. We may not like the word 'coward' but it aptly describes our attitude towards the nonchanlance displayed by our leaders. Perhaps we can drop cowardice and call it stupidity.

It is only stupidity that will make us look on and expect manna from heaven when a few people decide to take money belonging to us all abroad where their children go to live in luxury. It is only stupidity that makes us ask God for help when we are hungry after we have sold our votes for a loaf of bread. It is only stupidity that makes us complain when we are waiting for our turn to loot the national treasury.

Our problems are self inflicted. Almost every one of us is waiting the chance to get into positions in order to have his/her own share of the 'blessing'. We have an attitude problem that leaves us in penury. Our attitude stinks because it is very shortsighted and does not consider every ramification. When our brother or sister gets elected, we see it as our opportunity to get rich quick rather than an opportunity to make things better for the generality of the population.

If prostitution is illegal and you are caught in it, you cant really complain. One of the girls even tried to blame the government for her foray into prostitution!
