Alore: The gurus in the house - especially justwise and ekpotek; may God bless you so generously for your priceless assistance here.
Kindly spare a thought for me on this: 1. I had no plan of a UK travel this year at all; but I got an invite to the UK for an immigration briefing towards a possible permanent stay in another country . 2. Due to its suddenness, the only way is to get a loan to fund my travel which will definitely show up in my acct statments. 3. I want to apply for a 3 day visit using the super priority process because the conference date is just next week - that's about 530k. 4. Can I honestly explain the bulk deposit that will show up in my acct that I borrowed it because the invitation came at very short notice? 5. My monthly salary is up to 500k from a permanent employment, though my expense monthly is as much! I only have savings of about 1m in a cooperative & pension of about 11m. Would submitting their statements count positively for me? 6. I intend to manage my expenses by staying with a relative in UK and staying for just 3 days. Will a budget of about N600k fly for me? 7. I'm married with children. I have only travelled to one Schengen country once and twice to a neighbouring West African country.
Thank you for your time as I humbly await your advice and counsel. Considering the urgency of your situation you have to apply and give full details of your situation because i can't see any other way out |

Youngee34: Thank you so much sir, God bless you for your help.
But I've been searching and applying to all the companies I know, its not been successful, most of them require me to be in uk before even application.
What I really think I should do is to get the visa first and get there and find a suitable place to apply for internship or even do a voluntary work. But I really want to know the chances of me getting visa if I do this, and also is it still visiting visa I should apply for or tourist? And also want to visit my brother and my mum. I will be sponsored by my uncle I'm living with in Nigeria, whom we both share the same surname.
Please I really need help...THANK YOU SO MUCH SIR You will find it difficult to get internship or voluntary with any organization in the UK on visiting visa. I'm not sure i have come across anybody who was able to secure a visa to do internship in the UK from Nigeria though i have seen people go the opposite direction. This should not put you off, keep trying and get your family in the UK involved as well. |

Endlessgrace: I just stumbled on this thread and it kept me entertained for about 2hrs. Asking people to stay clear of Uk because of its unattractive immigration path is not being objective. I came down to the UK about 6 months ago and i knew what i was getting into before i made that decision, did all my research and still went ahead (Justwise, remember me?). My first job here is with an insurance company that is also a tier2 sponsor and 4 months after got another job with an ad company that has offered me a full time job upon completion of my Msc. Its not all gloomy as we paint it, i did my research thoroughly, applied for a course where I already have years of work experience in Nigeria and started applying to tier 2 sponsors (even for part time job) immediately i got here. This is to help someone that its not all gloomy as its being painted, you’ve got to be focused and work your butt off, trust me my daily life is not a walk in the park but i push because i had a goal from the onset and no nay-sayer is going to deter me and that is yielding good results. Ire ooo. Congratulations! Really glad it worked out for you |

LaudableXX: This thread was earlier locked by Justwise, but he later re-opened it so that one of his acolytes could share his experience, which falls into the 2% bracket, cited by other respondents. It doesn't matter. It still does not change the fact that the UK is a bad choice for students who wish to study and acquire work experience, after their studies. The UK policies are quite clear on that. All this attempt to whitewash the current reality isn't going to work. There are better alternatives for international students, in other foreign countries outside the UK. This sort of silly accusation need to stop, if you have nothing more to say just move on. I locked this thread and the supper mod reopened it and here you are making silly allegations. |

Youngee34: Hello everybody, I am really grateful to you guys for this amazing platform. May God bless you all.
Please I have some issues as well.
I'm a 400 level Engineering student of University of Lagos. We are obligated to do 6months industrial Training(Internship) second semester starting from may.
Due to the fact that my mum stays in UK and my brother is doing his masters there, I want to do my internship in uk, since accommodation or welfare might not be a problem.
But now, the problems I have now is i don't know how to go about it.
Please can anyone just give me a good advice.
My brother is ready to write me an invitation letter, but I still need to know the necessary steps required so as to guarantee my chances of doing my internship there.
Thanks in anticipation You need to find a company in the UK that is willing to give the opportunity to do internship with them first, you need to write them and attach a letter from your school indicating that you are a student with them and permission to do your internship in the UK, if the company accepts you then they will give you a letter which will be part of your visa application |

dserious: @Justwise, kudos for the great work moderating these threads. However, i would say this insane request for PMs is partly your fault. I remember back in 2014 when you started banning people from sharing info freely on the US thread. You stated that "agents" were taking advantage and making money off nairaland. This may be true but unfortunately, hoarding of information will only encourage more PMs.
Right now, when nairalanders come here for info and they dont get it, they quietly PM people with experience. The information is shared offline. Even the so-called agents contact experienced people from nairaland to get information. That same info is now sold to helpless nairalanders who desperately needs the info. This thread is not growing, naiaralanders are not getting info easily and the agents are making a lot of money off nairalanders. Your customers are now the victims. There are several of those agents everywhere now, I even saw one of them on instagram, advertising burden of proof - Phema/Nairaland proprietary document
So brotherly, the summary of my long epistle is for you to allow people freely share info here on nairaland.....doctor, hospital, accomodation everything should be here. You would be amazed how many agents come on this thread...when we ask questions here and no one answers, they pm us and offer the information to us at a price...
When you started this thing in 2014, the US thread slowed down for a while, it picked up because of the large number of people going to US to give birth....this your initiative will definitely stifle a small population thread like this..
Lemme go and drink water to cool down my anger jor...... This is a selfish way of looking at things, you want me to allow people to post any info here but you forgot that advertisers will not bother to place an ad here if they can easily post it here without moderation. US thread did not slow down as many of you predicted then, some of you left but still people who need info still visit, ask questions and still get answers. I know for a fact that people can share info without advertising it but the problem is that some nairalanders want to make money from this hence my strong stand on direct/indirect ad here. They refer people to some hospitals or accommodation providers for a commission or discount then they come here to sing praises of those companies so that people will pm them. I will make sure that such individual will not have a space to advertise here. Canadian route is not popular and not as straight forward as US this is why the thread is not growing like US one. People will send pm no matter what because some of the questions they ask are dodgy ones which will not be allowed here. Whoever is too lazy to read materials already here or elsewhere should fee free to send pm and get charged for it. Since 2014 we have had 5 parts of at least 4 hundred pages of US birthing thread even as many of you predicted that the thread will go down and experienced members will leave because they are not allowed to post everything including ads. Yes some old members left but the thread still stand and no free ad allowed. |

I thought all priority visit visas are treated in Lagos. Is this normal? I don't think that is true, yes it's 100% normal |

Good Morning Uncle Seun (Nairaland),
Please why was this thread closed?
https://www.nairaland.com/4361854/nigerians-leave-uk-united-kingdom
There are many more controversial topics and images on nairaland. Why is someone who claims to have admin rights trying hard to oppress some of us here? This is cyber bullying!!! I did not request closure...
It is stated and I quote "Disclaimer: Every Nairaland member is solely responsible for anything that he/she posts or uploads on Nairaland."
This is were many Nigerians express their thoughts, opinions and REAL LIFE experiences. Why should there be exceptions because somebody's ego is larger than life?
That person is into travel and assisting people go to school abroad. The person gets paid from it. That is why HE ensured the closure of my thread.
This is certainly not the nairaland I know...
If you can allow this kind of oppression to happen here where most people are anonymous, then there is a real problem... Why did you deactivate your account after making this ridiculous allegation? Present any evidence that i collected money or gift from anybody for helping them secure visa. |

akfaa: I recently completed my MSc in the UK in November 2017. I was offered a studentship at another university in the UK for my PhD and I am hoping to start on May. My husband and son are applying as dependants so we need to have maintenance money for them as the studentship does not cover this. The maintenance money is in my UK account which I opened while I was in the UK. My questions are these 1. Can I use this UK account? The account is in my name but my tier 4 visa expired in January 2. Can I print an online statement and request a letter of authenticity from the bank, this is allowed under the UKVI policy, but is there any one who has done this and was successful? 3. Can I submit a stamped statement from the bank (which will be a scanned copy)
I am not very sure how to go about this. Pls I need your advice.
Thank you. 1.Yes you can 2. yes and get your bank to stamp it 3. sure you can |

Okoloba: Hi Friends, New on this great group.I kindly need advice. My wife and I just renewed our B1/B2 visas via drop box and have decided to go for childbirth. We have all the correspondences with the doctor which we obtained after the visa was issued and will receive a formal acceptance letter from the doctor after he would have received from our Nigerian doctor DW's medical history. We intend to pay our medical bills on receipt of the invoice from the doctor before travelling out.Accommodation is settled. However in view of the repeated counsel on this group that it is preferable to have a medical visa for birthing we are thinking of making a fresh visa application for a medical visa but the interview date may well be after our intended date of travel and DH maybe ineligible to travel due to closeness to EDD. It is said that an interview date may be expedited with genuine reasons? The alternative is to as some of us have done send change of intent letter before trip ,tell the truth at POE with all burden of proof and expect a favourable discretionary entry. Kindly advise. Thank you I hasten to add that DH n DW both work in Nigeria n have sufficient ties to the country with other kids. Did you declare your intention to use the visa for child birth? |

chilove02: Hello All,
My apologies if I am not posting at the correct thread. Please all I want is help from the honourable members of this powerful forum.
I got my leave to remain in April 2013(2 and half years) which expired in October 2015. I applied for a renewal 28days before the expiration of the 1st one and H/0 approved it but then it started in December 2015 to June 2018(2nd 2 and half years). So there was a gap between the expiration of the old one and the start of the new one. Now the rule is that I have to complete 5years on that route before I can apply for indefinite Leave to Remain. I forgot to mention that I am on the 5years family route(Parent of a British citizen).
I would be 5years in April 2018 counting from the 1st day my first visa commenced but because of the gap between my two visa's that now pushed the expiration of the 2nd card to June 2018.
My question is when am I truly supposed to apply for indefinite Leave, do I have to wait for 28days before the expiration of the 2nd visa which is in May or am I eligible to apply by APRIL 2018.
I dont know if I make sense with my tales.
Please I am calling on all the gurus in the house to come to my rescue.
Thank you all. Counting from the first visa when will you clock 5yrs in the UK? Have you left the UK and stay more than 90days? |
