I found out my gear oil was leaking so I went to my mechanic who replaced the seal and filled it up with another oil.

The gear when put on D drive won't move but will move when on R reverse.

Now I've just towed the vehicle Sienna 2005 model to my house.

Any help here please?

Good day guys, I have an highlander 2004 model that I have been having issue with on the gearbox. The initial problem started when the gear was put into drive and the car would jack before it moves, at times it will take a long time before it moves and when it does, it jacks forcefully. My mechanic suggested then that the gear box was faulty and we decided to change it. The new one that was bought had same problem and was having oil leak, it also was having issue changing while accelerating. Any help would be grateful

You may be having electrical issues. You may start troubleshooting from the computer.

Whenever someone argues about the 'superior' benefit of buying used engine, remind him that few days or weeks ago, he had 'good' used engine.

The key is rebuild part and craftsman quality. At the end, some rebuilds may equal or surpass the cost of used engine but, there is warranty.

The battery should be okay for a snapdragon processor. It will last longer than a 4050 driven by MTK. The optimisation will be better. I use a Xiaomi Redmi Pro with 4050 and MTK, the battery goes a day with heavy use. You don't need too much power with snapdragons.

Forget all those MP numbers you see on phone cameras. The more important thing is the sensor. That is why you commonly see an 8MP outperforming a 13MP. A neighbour bought Infinix note4 with 13MP camera. When I compared it to my 13MP Xiaomi, her jaw dropped as I pointed out the noise in hers. Not sure what sensor the Infinix uses, but the Xiaomi has Sony and Samsung sensors.

What do I even need a 6gig RAM for?

As per pricing, from research, Xiaomi gives you best value for money.

I don't know how you arrived at the conclusion on faulty TC but as others have mentioned, a number of other things can cause your car's symptoms.

Does the level of ATF on the dipstick get very high when cold?
Does revving the engine a little before putting gear selector in drive reduce the engagement time of 3 minutes?

Please answer these questions and schedule a professional transmission diagnostic scan.

When the engine is cold, the car won't move when I engage the gear in D for about 3 mins but it moves ok in R.

The TC does not know if you are in forward or reverse gear so, if there is converter drain back, it should show in both forward and reverse.

To check for this, use a capable scanner and look at the input shaft speed when you start the car cold. It should be about >80% of engine rpm (depending on the TC stall speed rating). If it is off mark, then a converter charge problem exits.

Like nurey pointed out, if ATF is changed after the previous one has become too dirty and oxidized, anything can happen.

The better the replacement ATF, the higher the risk.

I first tried fixing it in owerri by changing the atf but it still had issues then I went and tried again by changing the TPS and solenoid in warri but lie lie it still shifted roughly on all gears and the D light began blinking

I spent so much and managed it for over 5 months like that until I got to Lagos and scanned it before the problem was resolved.

Call Ahmed on 0708 048 703 and tell him you want to come to his workshop concerning your gear issue, there's one oga there who fixes only gear but I don't have that particular man's number so since Ahmed is his "boy" once you've met him you've met the man. His workshop is beside that gas plant at ALAKIJA (festac side)

ATF change does not fix problems.

Hey Kashif, I have issues with my sienna 08 tranny. When acceleration gets to gear 3, it stalls and decelerates. Computer scan indicates that control solenoid B is the issue. After fixing it, it complained of control solenoid A. What is the likely solution?

I dont understand what you mean by stalling. The engine dies? Auto transmissions do one of the following in a range - engage and stay, irrespective of load; flare (act as if in nuetral); slip (drive but with noticeable mobility loss); bind (act as if the brakes are applied). Which of the following applies?

Toyota's solenoid performance codes are not reliable. Don't change your solenoid when you see these codes, as they are the culprit only 40% of the time, or less. They are just ratio codes. When the TCM commands a shift, it is looking for a change in RPM. If this does not happen (because the shift did not occur), the solenoid performance code for the solenoid involved in the shift is set.

Problem could be stuck valve(s), solenoid, worn holding member or leaking circuit.

What was the fix for the solenoid B?

I under stand the bran box controls every but I need a clearer picture here pls and how much can one get the gear and brain box. Thank you

Check oil colour, if it is black, you are in trouble, brown you are safe, pink you have no issues.

Pink doesn't mean there is no issue. It means the issue has not affected the holding members or overheated the atf. And yes, black speaks trouble.

Well it is written on my gear box oil gage stick. 'UNder normal use oil should not be change'. ReCently I observed that the car no longer has the force It used to When I engage the gear one. My mechanic advice I should change the gear box oil and the filter. So I decided to make a matter of discussion before deciding on What to do. The Car is 2.4 Camry. The advice. Of experts in the house will really be appreciated.

If you see what they call "normal use", you will know that NOBODY drives 'normally'.

The 'filled for life' you see on transmissions is nonsense. It is just the warranty life, and not the vehicle's life.

I have a Honda CRV 2004 model, the auto transmission shift on cold start from 1,2,3 and 4 without issues. However, once a slow down and it downshift from 4, it will only shift between 1 to 3 and will not shift to 4 anymore. However, if i stop for a while usually ten minutes, it shift to all gears again until I slow down. I have changed the shift solenoid, services the replace the Throttle Position Sensor, Mass Air Pressure sensor, Intake air sensor, knock sensor, serviced the IMPC. yet the trouble persist. They need to confirm where the problem is from - inside or outside the box. If its in the box, then he will need to replace the transmission. If outside, replacing the transmission will not solve it.

That is the most difficult part of transmission diagnosis!

i recently observed that my toyota highlanders hesitates when shifting gears on motion, and one day it stopped shifting into higher gears. Before that time, the VSC, ABS lights have always bin "ON" d dashboard, however, when the incident happend, i noticed that "BREAK" had turned "ON" too.

Later on, the break pad issue was fixed however, the "BREAK" light on d dashboard is still comes "ON" when d car is started.
The ATF was dirty and black, so it was changed and Gear Filter Cleaned too, still the transmission system did not shift into higher gears. I guess it got stuck in gear 1, because it still moves.

In other not to create more issue, D car has bin parked since the day the issues started.

(1) Can the "BREAK" fault as shown on the dashboard inhibits the transmission system operation
(2) Is Gear box operations sensitive to the type of ATF used if yes, wat is d name of ATF recommended for Toyota Highlander 2006?

When transmission oil is dirty and black, the box is near the grave. Changing it at that point will hasten the demise.

Type IV should be fine

Many of them. Know that many transmission issues will not trigger any code.

Good day GAZZUZZ, still on my Camry gearbox matter. After scanning the car, it still showed only P0748. It was interpreted as Solonoid A being bad or short-circuited. My mechanic suggested changing the gearbox valve body (which carries the solonoids) and that my gearbox should be fine. A few other mechanics are still advising i just buy a new gearbox and forget changing the solonoid.
The thing is that, I can't sell the car (as u suggested) cos the offers been made are so ridiculous. I also can't afford gearbox (750k). But I can raise the cash for the valve body(and solonoids).
In your opinion and from your experiences, had there been successes with repairing a gearbox having similar problem like mine?

What are the symptoms? Provide as much details as you can. If this code is correct, only gears 5 and 6 will work correctly. But you may never get there unless you drive in manual. To confirm that solenoid is the problem, ask your mechanic to swap the two solenoids I have circled in the attached image.

After swapping, if the solenoid is the culprit, you will only have 1,3,4 and 5 in manual. If it does not follow this, and only 5 and 6 are available, you have a TCM or harness problem. The TCM sits on the transmission.

This morning (Wednesday) as i was going to work, my check engine light started flashing and thereafter my gear refused to accelerate.
i switched off the engine and started the car again and continue my journey to the office with any problem.

Meanwhile, my Check engine light is on, the PRND occasional flashes and the instrument gauges is also not working fine but occasionally normalizes.

i got the car scanned and the following codes popped up

2. P0986

i checked the level of the gear oil and it seemed to be gauged and clean

I then called a gear box technician and he said it the valve body and it needs to be changed.

Please, what could be the problem and possible solution to these problems.

What your car has is electrical problem. Dont let anybody tamper with your valve body. You had your range indicator and check engine lights flashing, which got corrected with a key cycle. Your instrument cluster also malfunctioned. Dont touch the ATF or anything internal of the box.

I am not getting it. Somebody wants to sell at 0.99, and somebody wants to buy at 0.99; why cant that happen? Any time I found space to look at the live feeds in the past, I never saw matching orders unmet, apart from today.

Why would one be bidding higher when there are lower offers? At the time of that screenshot, those were the only offers, and there were matching bids.
