Oscartawn,
Procepts should be ok because give or take, the training should expose you to the 44 prcesses involved in using the PMI methodology. It should not be risky because no matter where you train, you will still need to study very extensively before you close the knowledge gap required for you to take the exam. PMP credential is rigorous and MUST be understood properly. Even if you train at PMI and sit for the exam the following day, you are sure to fail! shocked

The most important thing is for you to make sure you understand the process; not necessarily being expected to regurgitate acronyms and inputs/outputs. During your training, please make sure you know in which process (Initiating, Planning, Execution, Monitoring & Control, and Closing) you are. Get these and your problems are half solved!

I will advise you to have a mentor (a PMP) to provide you guidance and coaching while you prepare. It is best to have your trainer stand in here so you can have a relationship and open communication. Dont rush to take the exam please because many failed because when they thought they were ready, they were really not. Dont use cheap simulations/sample questions as they create false confidence.

I will be available to render you assistance in any way I can. wink

@Sunnyp, Project Management has nothing to do with softwares. Look at it like this - you must know what to write before you start looking for paper and pen. MS Project does not plan your project for you; it only helps you to sequence, track tasks and resources. It does not do quality, risk, procurement, cost, and all the analysis and management for you! You should be able to plan and manage your project on paper before you can move some of them to the software application. The truth is that you can be an authority in PM without any knowledge of PM software. I hope this helps in clearing things.

Regards to all.

I am into Project Management, and from experience, PRINCE2 is the most recognised Project Management standard recognised in the world in opposite of PMP. PRINCE2 which stands for Project In Controlled Environment is defacto project management standard in the UK. It is much more process based compared to PMI.
PRINCE2 most recognised in the world shocked shocked If you say UK, then you are right but the world, not right grin grin

What does PRINCE2 say about Qualily control, Activity Sequencing, Critical Path Method, etc? It is better to say that PRINCE2 practitioner is easier to grasp than PMP. PRINCE2 references PMI so, that should give you an insight.

Ivvie:
If you want to service cars without knowing control systems, then I submit to you that you will limit yourself significantly. The rest is easy (mechanics) but the control systems is the aspect you need to delve seriously into. When you have the fundamentals (which should be a breeze to you) then you'll know where to invest and where not to invest. There are service manuals that you will have to purchase individually. Yeter-years background will not help you with tomorrows cars if you leave out control systems.

For Toyota's, the engines are basically the same but different engine control management and minor improvements. Lexus vary as years go by and more control systems implemented. Knowing one means knowing all, basically. I don't know anything about the hybrid because I am not into diesel technology.

I have some books if you want (some require calculus and linear and others don't). There is a service manual if you want (one has all the cars you can think about). I will see what else I can get. Give me an address and I will have it mailed out to you (if it sounds good to you).
@Ivvie, please give me your email address so that I can drop my address. My email address is kashimanjero@yahoo.com, if it is ok by you. Thanks a lot.

In the morning when people were leaving to the market, they saw the tortoise and asked "what did he do?". When they were told what he did, they all blamed him for the seeming abomination and told him he deserved all he got.

In the evening however, when the traders were going back from the market, they saw the tortoise once more and enquired what his offence was this time. They were told he has been there since that morning regarding the theft at his inlaw's house. This time, they condemned his inlaw, saying he was heartless. "Is it because of the theft? Now tell us, if he does not steal from your house, where will he still? Set him free and let him go!"

@Abbihh,

Abeg o, browsing the internet is not a project, neither is renting a flat a project in the strict sense of it. Many things we call 'projects' colloquially are not projects.

In the professional realm, those unique, start and stop engagements we pursue might only pass for a project when it lasts at least, for about 3 months. There must be a plan which should be approved/authorised and resources committed. wink

Cheers. smiley

On the mobile phone 'jammer', readers should know that you must produce frequencies in the 900MHz and 1800MHz range in a 'destructive' interferrence mode to jam the GSM frequencies.  Doing that DOES NOT SOLVE ANY PROBLEM! Instead, you create more because you send even more signals to the cluster.

Nairalanders, please take a little time to go through threads before posting.

It has been pointed out that GSM frequecies have very negligible effect on the aviation navigation signals. Those are one of the extreme safety measures in the avaiation industry. One of the posters mentioned that a pilot friend of his does not switch off - because he is in the system. Please note that I am not an advocate of using phones during flights but dont jeopardise your flight by fighting a passenger who uses his/her phone!

Assuming that cell phones actually interfere with the aviation navigational equipment (poofs are begining to emerge that they dont) and the plane is already airborne when you discover that a fellow passenger is having a live conversation with his phone; the crew is have some challenges stopping him (I have my reasons for restricting this behaviour to men), what will you do?

Dont you think you should either overpower him or crash? The guy who faught the caller was simply trying to avoid a disaster - I mean, he stepped in when the caller refused to obey the crew. I agree he should have waited for the superior crew member (this time, the pilot) to make the last move but if they were already flying then, I would do worse if I was on that plane!

Candid.
