PoliticsRe: Why Does The Average Yoruba Man Support Buhari Even More Than Northerners? by khadaffi(m): 9:52pm On Oct 04, 2016
Hedonistically:
Every where I go to - every random bar or lounge, street corner, academic setting of so called intellectuals, or corporate forum... it appears that most Yoruba people are adamant that Buhari is working. It is almost unbelievable. Now I understand why some people accuse them of being political and social slaves to the North.

What has Buhari done for Yorubaland to deserve such extreme level of zombie-like followership?
Is Fayose an Igbo man? You guys keep saying trash by the day

Stories like this makes me grin, and with a disdain look, I ponder about our leaders, they never miss any opportunity of playing to the gallery, what effect can #300K from about #30million dey earn do to affect lives, this is not what we want ALL WE WANT IS A PAY CUT THOSE SALARY CAN IMPROVE LIVES OF OVER 100,000 OF YOUTHS We are not fools
We should stop highlighting the problems of Nigeria and proffer solution. In all sincerity and being realistic, there is no way the legislators will slash their salaries except something like a revolution occurs.
PoliticsRe: Am Not Sure Of The Salary Statistics But...i Truly Think This Is Worth Sharing! by khadaffi(m): 4:42pm On Oct 03, 2016
Before we say more, how much does the president and his minister get as monthly salary. How much do their aids get. Personally I think that is where the change should start from.

MizMyColi:
And they refused to fly?

@eyeview, it might not be a Buhari thing.
It must have happened sometimes in Jo's era too.
Not sure though.

Sometimes these animals just get angry and refuse to cooperate.
Actually I don't see it as a big deal but it looked very funny watching it on TV. Everyone was expecting the pigeon to fly but it stood there, then later jump (flew) and perched on something close.

I don't care what the PDP says or think I'm not their spokesperson or supporter. I'm only concerned about the election process.

i hate it when people open their mouth out of ignorance, only print media and online journalists where barred from the centre, asked TV and Radio media houses if they were ever barred at any point, that's the problem with nairalanders, you conclude based on stories you read online, just for your info, I'm an inec official and I'm 100% Benin.
Please stop embarrassing yourself on a public forum Mr Inec official. In your vocabulary, print media and online journalist are not media people right?

were PDP agents not also allowed entrance?
PDP claimed they were not allowed entrance within some certain period (hours). If you want to know more on that, look for the official response they published regarding the election result.
PoliticsRe: Foreign Observers Fault Conduct Of Edo Election by khadaffi(m):
seunmsg:
Sorry but you are wrong. Observations made by election observers are not a valid grounds for cancelling election but for improvement in subsequent elections. Only the tribunal or an appelate court can cancel an election result once it is declared by INEC.

You should also understand that no election is perfect anywhere in the world. That is why the law always provides a mechanism through which aggrieved parties can seek redress when they are not satisfied with the outcome of an election.

The last part of your comment is very funny. You talk as if you are not a Nigerian and this is the first time you will be hearing about party agents inducing voters with money and canvassing for votes on election day. It is nothing new and the observers observed correctly that the two parties are guilty.
My point is that the PDP can head to court and let's see what happens. I know that election observers can't cancel an already announced result.

And for your last paragraph, I have witnessed many elections in nigeria and anytime any party agent want to induce voters on election day, they usually do it with the mindset that they could be arrested. What they do is to negotiate with you in the voting field and then they move you to a spot that is hidden, away from security operatives and public before giving you cash. This is the first election I've seen where money was openly shared in the public. Right in full public glare. In the presence of INEC officials and SECURITY operatives. Right in the voting arena.
PoliticsRe: Foreign Observers Fault Conduct Of Edo Election by khadaffi(m): 12:10pm On Oct 01, 2016
seunmsg:
The observations are general about the overall conduct of the election and did not in any anyway question the eventual outcome or the legitimacy of the winner.

They also observed correctly that all the party complained about inducement which mean that all of them were guilty. Going forward, I hope INEC can take a look at the observations and correct the loopholes in subsequent elections.
Look my brother, I don't give a rat about PDP or APC. When I first heard that media men and some party's agent were not allowed into the collation centre, I thought it was a lie because the complains came from PDP agents. If its found to be true, the election should be out rightly cancelled. There is nothing for INEC to improve on there, that is not how elections have been conducted in Nigeria.

As for money that was flying around. I was really surprised because I thought there was a law that stated that there should not be any form of campaigning on the day of voting. On that day people were openly canvassing for votes while the security men watched HELPLESSLY

Just too bad.
The situation is so pathetic. Its the same in my ward. APC and PDP are just sharing money to voters.

Won't argue but if we want to practice federalism, we should give real autonomy to States and L.Gs. Otherwise, we should stop answering FRN.
I support autonomy to states and LG, which is known as federalism. What we practice today in Nigeria is not federalism. It is a mixture of unitary sytem, federalism and oligarchy. That's why we can't compare our system with countries that practice federalism.
PoliticsRe: Bill For State Police Passes Second Reading by khadaffi(m):
Bede2u:
why?
Pavore9:
[/quote]Una wan use me type this morning. Senator Ike Ekweremadu suggested the best form of policing system when he was deputy under David Mark. I hope that is what this bill is about but if it is to REVERSE to state police, I will quickly give you an assignment that will help me answer you quickly so I don't type much.

Before this central policing we practice today, Nigeria once operated a state police. Why did we switch to this type of policing system? What were the problems that made us change to this type of system? After immediately changing to the central policing system, did it solve the problems we encountered then? The problems we encountered then, are they still the same now? Considering the fact that Nigeria have practiced state police before, so its not new to us, how do we intend to combat the problem that goes with it?

On why I said its the south east that should kick against it. The police is the only govt agency that charges criminals to court. It is no longer news that some northern states are practicing sharia law. If they are empowered with a state police, some of our south eastern guys will be tried according to this law. Don't forget that after a criminal is arrested, it is the police that prepares the individual to be taken to court. The south east should be worried about this because there are many things they do that are not tolerated in sharia, an example is drinking alcohol.

Majority of nigerians are really not informed. If you know what state police is, its actually the south east that should kick against such bill. I can understand community police. I'm just waiting till they read the full bill.

LOOOL!

Like i always say, the only thing a doctor trained in Nigeria can properly diagnose is Malaria and typhoid.
Even the malaria and typhoid cannot be properly diagnose. I remember when my cousin was having schrizrophenia (I'm not sure I got the spelling). The first hospital we took him to told us it was typhoid and collected 50k to treat. Only for us to get home and everything starts all over. How we got the solution is another long story. To me I don't think our politicians are stupid for always treating themselves abroad. Infact that's why they live long. Our health care system is a mess in this country I tell you. Only to go on strike for allowance package them sabi.

PoliticsRe: Implications Of The Postponed Edo State Election by khadaffi(m): 7:13am On Sep 09, 2016
Osmondinho:
It is no longer news that INEC has finally postponed the Edo state election by 2 weeks and this came after the body has issued a statement earlier that the election will go on as scheduled. Let look at the implications of this act.

Tension Build-Up: Nigeria elections has always been a do or die affair and with the latest postponement, the tension in the state will reach a fury stage.

Accusation of Rigging: PDP have already released a statement earlier condemning the alleged postponement on the ground that the ruling party is planning to perfect their rigging plan. It will be a very serious ground of litigation after the election.

Lost of Interest: Many Voters in the state will lose their enthusiasm to come out and vote in their candidate and therefore the voting day might witness low turnout of voters.

APC led FG losing their Fledgling Support: If what is going around is true that APC was involved in the postponement, then anyone that gave them the advice might have shot themselves on the leg because the have already losing the small support the might have.

UNIBEN resumption Date Might be affected: Management of Uniben have already shifted resumption date from 3 to 22 Sept because of the election and with the latest postponement, the new school calendar might be affected too.

Allow A Better Logistics for the Election: We all know that no Nigeria government institution is prepared for their work, the postponement might be a blessing as it will allow INEC to put finishing touches to their preparation.

lalasticlala

add yours!!!
I don't care about all you wrote here. What worries me more about the implication of the postponed election is a sign that INEC is not "independent" after all. They were threatened by the Police and DSS not to go ahead with the elections. Any sane Nigerian who don't know what this means should visit the psychiatric.
