PoliticsRe: Northern Christian Heavyweights Launch Offensive Against Tinubu, Shettima by kinguwem: 5:03pm On Jul 31, 2022
diadem10:
Heavyweight indeed.

Ment. All the big churches are in Lagos. Have they been islamised yet? Na ment? A good brain would know that since Tinubu didn't islamise his wife and Lagos, he won't islamise anyone. Stop limiting politics and competency to religion.

Like, you could see the high strides which Tinubu achieved in Lagos such as his legacies which include Lekki seaport, lekki trade zone, BRT, Eko Atlantic, BRT terminal, high increase in Lagos revenue even at the time Obasanjo withheld Lagos allocation for several years yet Tinubu made Lagos' thrived regardless. But rather than look at these, you're limiting Tinubu to his religion. How is Peter Obi who's got no achievement whatsoever better than Tinubu's enormous legacies in Lagos? Na ment? Tinubu is a first class graduate of accounting whereas Peter Obi is only a D pass graduate of philosophy.

Also, Tinubu is the most liberal leader who always ensure he brings in intelligent talents to nurture and work with him, irrespective of their religion or Tribes. People such as Fashola, Sanwo Olu, Osinbajo, Igbokwe etc..

Point is most Muslims in the southwest are different from the Northern Muslims. They don't allow religion to cage them. Personally, I hope for when religion would only be limited to home and religious houses because that's where it belongs. By limiting religion to only homes and religious houses, this would create more secular carefree avenue for people to use their brain to think outside of the box and improve their environment. Religion or non religion shouldn't be a determinant in any of our settings. Competence should always be championed and should be the main determinant.

Now on the question why Tinubu chose a Northern Muslim despite being a Muslim. It's a political strategic move. He chose a Northern leader from the core North which happens to be a Muslim since almost all the Northern leaders are Muslims anyway.

You all know that most of the leaders in the South are Christians while Muslims are the majorities in the North. Let imagine for example that a Northern Christian happened to get the presidential ticket of a huge platform, who do you think he would choose as his deputy in the South? Of course a popular Southern who may eventually end up being a Christian. Why? Because majority of the leaders in the South are Christian hence choosing one of the popular Southern leaders could end up being a Christian. That was exactly what Tinubu did. It's a political strategic move.

That's why religion shouldn't be a determinant in any settings because it's only a personal thing. Imagine if Shettima was only seen as a Northern Nigerian while Tinubu was seen as a Southern Nigerian. That already balanced the equation and criteria needed instead of bringing in religion into the prism. Point is when you look at Europe, American and Canada, they don't care about your religion whether you're Christian, Muslim or Atheist. What they care about is your competence irrespective of your religion. You wouldn't care about the religion of a doctor who's to operate on you but his competence. Religion shouldn't be a ticket for you to get your way out of your incompetence and I'm talking about Peter Obi who achieved absolute nothing in his Anambra state.

Meanwhile, I believe Tinubu chose Shettima as his deputy because Zulum was Shettima's protégé. Zulum would have been the perfect fit but he wanted a second term as a governor hence Shettima. This isn't about religion.
Leadership is about having a vision & creating the enabling environment to actualize the dreams.

Tinubu gooved big time in accepting to be coarse to accept a Muslim-Muslim ticket to get the support of the core North. There is no other agenda other than islamization in a layman's view.

HealthRe: Natural Birth Or C-Section For Twins? by kinguwem: 4:14pm On Feb 21, 2022
NTAChannel5:
Hi, guys.

Please I need professional advice on which to go for. All praises to God, my wife is heavily pregnant with twins. From the last scan the babies are weighing 2.7kg and 2.4kg respectively. That's quite big for babies that are 7 months. And the expected period of delivery is between April ending and early May. Which means they may still grow bigger with time.

So I'm sincerely concerned about the safety of my wife and the babies, especially my wife coz her belly is so big that people are wondering why she hasn't put to bed yet. Although, she's very healthy and seems less bothered. But I'm not finding it easy here. I want to know if Cesarian Section is a better option for delivering the babies or should we have the natural one instead.

Please, doctors, health professionals and experienced mothers in the house, let me learn from you. Thanks
The method of delivery depends on a lot of factors including: the presentation of the first twin & other associated problems including placentation, maternal medical diseases - Diabetes, hypertension.

The decision whether to allow your wife deliver vaginally or have a caesarean section should be taken by the obstetrician managing your wife in the antenatal clinic.

EducationRe: ASUU To Go On One-month Warning Strike by kinguwem: 11:36am On Feb 15, 2022
othermen:
ASUU knows that the federal university is probably the last hope of the common man; your education is actually subsidized!!

You see the amounts paid in private universities, that is the amount you will pay, if Federal school becomes self autonomous and then, federal government no longer has any responsibility as it relates to higher institutions.

Is it in lecturers interest, that federal government hands off? Yes, it is. That way, University lecturers salary will be sub-charged to students school fees, and school fees will simply just become affordable only for the rich. Only the rich will get an education.

That will be the fate of the common folks, the Parents and students struggling to even pay the little that is basically exam fee and registration fee.

You can check the agreement of ASUU with Federal government online if you are any diligent. ASUU’s primary want is that universities be funded, so that students can learn and be competent enough as their colleagues from private or foreign universities.

Lecturers welfare have actually never been on the forefront of the struggle and the truth is the average lecturer is been pushed to the wall, that they don't have a damn to give anymore about funding universities, they just want to be paid reasonable salary... But ASUU sees itself as the champion of common folks, and the common folks will stone and crucify ASUU in the end.

The issue is not that, ASUU makes new demands. The issue is the FG continues to renege on what they agreed to. So, they promise and they don't fulfil it.

It’s the school fees that our senator’s sons are paying abroad, that students will end up paying if they continue to be ignorant about ASUU’s struggle.

ASUU knows that the reason why some lecturers may resort to sorting and other malpractices is because their pay can’t even get them home, but yet members welfare is not foremost in ASUU’s demand.

You can check, a graduate assistant abroad is earning more than a professor in Nigeria. There is a continuous brain drain, our best minds are harvested by universities abroad. There is no motivation to have a career in teaching in Nigeria!!!

To access knowledge, you have to subscribe to journals, you have to do research, attend conferences… your most honest lecturers are poor folks, your honest professors can't do decent lives; to reach those stages of their career, they invested their paltry salaries in self development.

If you are a first class graduate in Engineering , that is why you would choose to work in a bank, than teach. Because your salary in a year as a lecturer, is the monthly salary of some bankers.

We attend congested classes, where you cannot really optimally learn, our laboratories are not equipped, our libraries are empty… we will never be equipped for the world, we will never pioneer any development, we will never be able to generate electricity by ourselves, or make toothpicks. Are we capable? Yes we are! Despite the situations of things, our lecturers are still coming up with patents and inventions that rust away in their dilapidated backyards, until they get it sold to China, who uses it to change the world, and become an economic and technology powerhouse.

Some of your lecturers don’t even want ASUU to make such demands in the interest of the people, because it’s in this decayed system, they have rooted themselves, but ASUU keeps on holding the line.
The problem is the refusal of the government to take education as a priority. Quite unfortunate.

The academics need to come up with solutions to the several problems affecting the educational system. I believe if the right things are done, we can upgrade our universities to international standards, solve our basic problems & generate revenue through inventions & patent rights.

The government, administrators of the sector & academics must sit up.
PoliticsRe: Genesis Of Distrust Between Igbo's And Yoruba's — By Ojukwu (Video) by kinguwem: 4:28pm On Feb 13, 2022
SamNaijaboy:
I’m sorry to say but you are clueless.
Awolowo was not the tribalistic one. Zik actually was.
Let me take you to school a little:
Your question was what would have prompted West people to vote Azikiwe and not Awolowo? The West voted NCNC the party they started with Herbert Macaulay as founder. Herbert Macaulay, a Yoruba, was the head and without any tribalism gave Zik the party leadership when he died. The NCNC was the biggest party then. Won in the East and the West. There was no Midwest yet then. Ojukwu is mixing timelines here. However Zik should have left the West for the Yorubas that founded the party. However he wanted to rule from Lagos, being the capital. Which was in the West. Hence wanted to be premier in the West as well. This would have led to a situation where Igbos were ruling in both including the West where the Yorubas that founded the party were.
Of course that was not acceptable to the Yorubas. If you are wondering why that was not acceptable, would you found something and then because your founder died and a “foreigner” was leader, abdicate all rights to even your own land?
Isn’t the right to rule your own land what Igbos and Yorubas are clamoring for now and hating the Fulani herdsmen for trampling up and down? So that is a basic want of a people? Self-determination and self-representation?
Ask yourself, why didn’t Zik offer the Western region to the Yoruba deputy Ogunsanya (of the Adeniran Ogunsanya famous street in Lagos) instead of trying to be greedy for his own tribe?
Only a greedy person would want everything to be in his tribe’s favor but that seems okay to most Igbos since they appear to be very greedy.
The Yorubas voted along party lines and voted NCNC, their party they founded. It took Awolowo to convince them overnight that Zik was greedy and they voted with their feet. I’m sure convincing them must have been easy since Zik had in 1949 at an Igbo National Congress speech said the God of Igbo had destined them to dominate Nigeria and Africa. If Zik had given the premiership to a Yoruba man, NCNC would have won the West.
The problem was Zik who saw nothing wrong with putting an Igbo man as premier of the East and then an Igbo man as premier of the West despite the fact that a Yoruba man founded the party and he inherited it from a Yoruba man. He had no sense of justice and fairness and was rightly put in his place
NCNC with Zik as the leader won the elections. However, to enable Awo become the Premier, the Yoruba NCNC members of parliament cross-carpated to Awo's party, the AG. It was bad politics & the beginning of tribalism in Nigerian politics.

The question is: where did they come from & where were they camped before the attack? What's the function of the intelligence units? Are we just spending money on security without getting results on investments.

For once our leaders must be patriotic & stop the unnecessary loss of lives. Obviously, the government has failed & perhaps the nation has failed her citizens.

I don't think you need to be paid a billion dollars to do your job properly, Nigerian doctors
Go to Cuba, they have one of the poorest pay and infrastructure but some of the best doctors on earth. We need to stop making everything about money

The American medical doctor graduates with an average loan of $300k or N170m. And wouldn't earn that money for nearly 10 years after graduation

A Nigerian doctor graduates with less than an average of N5m expenses and has the opportunity to practice abroad with zero student loans

Of course the government needs to improve pay and infrastructure in Nigeria. Still, you chose a profession that is bound by oath to provide best of your ability services irrespective of money, status or curcumstance
The report lacks details to prove negligence on the part of the health personnel. On the issue of training, Cuba is a communist country & training is free. In the US, education is expensive & students need loans & scholarships for those that cannot afford the fees. In Nigeria such facilities rarely exist. Medical Education is cheaper with unfavourable training conditions. However, Nigeria doctors are resilient & highly sort after abroad. There are a lot of pull & push factors responsible for the Brain drain including poor remuneration, hostile working environment, insecurity, lack of training opportunities, obsolete working equipment etc.

diplomat058:
I don't like the way this story was twisted and retested to suit target narratives.

One, Abner did what he had to do. He was a general, not a politician who makes political decisions. So his job was to ensure Kingdom stability through a royal succession of the House of Saul. If the Israelite tribes would join David, that wasn't Abner's decision to make.

Two, why mock his death? His death was acknowledged by even David as a misfortune. And the Man responsible did not escape Solomon's sword. If it was God's plan that he should die in an unjust way, I guess there wouldn't be negative repercussions for whoever carried out His will.

Three, the only time Abner acted as a politician was when he wanted to handover the Kingdom to David. That was meddlesome on his part. He sort of wanted Ish to be a puppet King to him

And stories of the bible aren't meant to be judged because we may not be privy to the 'full facts.' let's just learn the lessons and exemplify them to improve our christian lives.

May the peace of our Lord Jesus be with everyone now and forever. Amen
Amen! We'll summarized.
HealthRe: Doctors’ Strike: NARD Rejects New MOU With FG by kinguwem: 7:11pm On Aug 23, 2021
Dozis:
Reasons why Resident doctors (NARD) hardly achieve anything when they go on strike.
1. They are not a labour group, resident doctors under the aegis of National Association of Resident Doctors are not members of any Labour Union, neither Trade Union Council nor Nigerian Labour Congress, hence they lack the negotiating powers of a trade union and the larger labour unions don't help them in solidarity during impasse or industrial actions.
2. They are under tutelage and not really major employees of federal government unlike consultants, NARD consists of doctors that are undergoing a learning process called residency towards becoming consultants in various medical fields (though they are the ones that do most medical jobs in Nigerian hospitals), this was what the labour minister Dr. Chris Ngige used against them the last time they went on strike, he simply told CMDs that the students have abandoned their schooling and they should find other students to take up the learning process. Fashola also did same during one of their numerous strikes in Lagos, he simply called for intake of new residents and they quickly returned to work.
3. For reasons I don't understand, their consultants do not support them.
NARD just like the NMA are professional bodies but can negotiate with Government on behalf of medical doctors. In terms of negotiations, they've have achieved more in terms of collective bargaining than ASUU, JOHESU & even the NLC/TUC.

Residents are doctors undergoing specialist training & not students. There are on strike to fight for better healthcare services & improved welfare of doctors. All the doctors including the medical consultants (specialists) support NARD.

The Niger Delta is the most foolish region for several reason.
1. Your leaders were deaf and dumb before this Bill was passed.
2. Your leaders continuously betray you and sell you out to outsiders without you doing anything.
3. Even the NDDC you have, what have you done with it?
4. Your oil feeds the entire country but you are content with mere pittance while abokees take the bulk of it.
The problem is not the Niger-Delta people but the skewed political structure of the country. The North will always have its way in the National Assembly because of the greater number of members.

https://gazettengr.com/exclusive-senators-reps-fight-dirty-over-10-million-bribe-to-reject-pibs-5-for-host-communities/

*EXCLUSIVE: Senators, Reps fight dirty over $10 million bribe to reject PIB’s 5% for host communities*

Specifically, some lawmakers are seething over claims that Senate President Ahmad Lawan and Speaker Femi Gbajabiamiala received $2 million each in cash bribes to pass the historic law.

OYINDAMOLA OLUBAJO AND HILLARY ESSIEN • AUGUST 20, 2021

Senate President Ahmad Lawan, Minister of State Petroleum Timipre Sylva and Speaker, House of Reps Femi Gbajabiamila

Nigerian lawmakers are bracing for a showdown with their principal officers after uncovering details of how they were grossly shortchanged in the distribution of a multimillion-dollar bribe for the passage of the new petroleum industry law, Peoples Gazette can report.

Five lawmakers, including three senators and two House members, corroborated to The Gazette following an initial tip-off that least $10 million was paid in cash to members of the National Assembly to help expedite passage of the bill despite widespread opposition to a clause that granted only three per cent of upstream oil companies’ operating income to host communities.

Specifically, the lawmakers are seething over what one of them described to The Gazette as “greedy misconduct” of Senate President Ahmad Lawan and Speaker Femi Gbajabiamiala, who were accused of taking $2 million each in cash bribes to ram the bill through despite protests from host communities.

A Nigerian billionaire of far-reaching acclaim who has perhaps the largest contemporary stake in the oil and gas industry was said to have provided $2 million alone, while other firms and individuals in the oil and gas industry provided the remaining $8 million. The Gazette could not publicly identify the billionaire because our reporters have yet to obtain direct evidence linking him to the bribery.

“The Senate President received $2 million and the Speaker received $2 million,” a senator told The Gazette under anonymity to avoid charges of breach of privilege. “Their greedy misconduct was recently exposed to us and we will seriously take up the matter when we resume from the annual recess next month.”
“From what I can volunteer, many senators were given $20,000 before and after the PIB was passed, depending on their availability,” the senator said.

Another lawmaker furious about the affair admitted to The Gazette that he received $5,000, but said he didn’t know it was part of a multimillion-dollar payout to lawmakers to pass the bill.

“They gave me $5,000 and said it was for us to buy biscuits for our children for labouring day and night to get the bill to the stage of passage,” the lawmaker said under anonymity. “To God, I did not know that it was about $10 million that they received and some crooks calling themselves leaders got $2 million each for themselves.”

“We will protest the matter after our break because some people have to realise that they don’t have two heads and we have to fight for our rights and privileges as members of the National Assembly,” the lawmaker added. “Each one of us is representing a constituency and that makes us all equal because no one at the National Assembly is representing more than one constituency.”

Spokespeople for Messrs Lawan and Gbajabiamila did not return The Gazette’s requests for comments about the alleged bribery and the brewing disquiet over it.

*$10 million largesse*

Host communities, largely of the oil-rich Niger-Delta region, had complained that three per cent is insufficient against decades of environmental degradation and neglect inflicted on traditional settlers. The communities said they would accept at least 10 per cent, even though the administration initially proposed five per cent.

But the state-run NNPC and other operators dug their heels in, saying any sharing arrangement that allows more than three per cent to host communities will cut too deep into their revenue margins and alienate potential investors in the country’s wobbling oil sector.

But after the stalemate augured a string of rowdy and inconclusive sessions at the parliament, lawmakers last month finally passed the Petroleum Industry Bill that sought to unbundle the sector and restructure the NNPC as a commercial enterprise rather than a federal charter. President Muhammadu Buhari signed the bill into law this week despite the controversies surrounding the meagre three per cent equity stake for host communities.

The Gazette has now learnt that lawmakers accepted cash inducements to pass the bill, which was proposed by Mr Buhari-led executive cabinet. Lawmakers said the cash logistics was coordinated by state petroleum minister Timipre Sylva and Senator Albert Akpan (PDP-Akwa Ibom).

A senator told The Gazette that Mr Akpan sent one of his aides to deliver $20,000 to him at his office.
“He (Mr Akpan) sent a woman from his office to give me $20,000,” the senator said. “They said the money came from people who have investments in the oil and gas and they wanted to appreciate us for our dedication in seeing the bill through after so many years of failed efforts.”

*Lopsided formula*

Messrs Sylva and Akpan did not return requests seeking comments from The Gazette.

Another lawmaker who confirmed knowledge of the bribery to The Gazette said it was a serious scandal waiting to explode because a lawmaker had already mentioned the matter in the House WhatsApp group weeks ago.

“A lawmaker protested the sharing formula but no one responded or engaged him in the House WhatsApp group,” the lawmaker said. “So I fear that many colleagues are angry about the whole thing.”

A lawmaker said the disquiet could easily have been avoided had the leaders properly conducted themselves in handling the largesse.

“It is common across the world for lawmakers to be offered gratification,” the lawmaker said. “But it has to be equitably distributed so that no one feels cheated or left out.”

Nigerian lawmakers have for years faced allegations of taking bribes to pass bills or carry out general oversight activities. In the mid-2000s, bags full of cash were displayed on the floor of the parliament, allegedly offered by elements close to former President Olusegun Obasanjo to push the so-called third-term agenda. Mr Obasanjo denied the allegations.

These comments on nepotism are becoming stale. If you tell yourself a lie repeatedly you start believing it and that's exactly what these ethnic jingoists are falling into.

Since NECO was established with HQ in Niger state, it has been from one igbo man to another leading it then a Yoruba man. Has there been any significant resistance from the North - No. Now Buhari appointed Prof. Wushishi what's all the holalabo about? The other day there was a list purported to be for paramilitary replacement and recruitment of which the 4 names from sokoto from over 400 names were all southerners! Did you hear any significant resistance no.

During my secondary school days in the 90s I had lot of igbo friends bearing Northern names. I never understood what was happening until recently - They bear indigenous names just to take up space meant for indigenes in State Government Schools after filing space meant for aliens. Till these day this is happening but you dont hear calls from Northerners on issues like these.

In fact I fear if we continue this myopic approach to national issues, every section will start digging in and insisting on "sons of the soil" take up important appointments
The Constitution is very clear on who an indigene of a State is? An Igbo man that has stayed in the North for up to 10 years can claim indigeneship of a State there.

These people are just too nepotic that the federal character commission(FCC) regulation is no more in the constitution they are using.

See how they are just fixing their brethren whether they are qualified or not, but the stupid southern stooges will be fighting and killing themselves while the hausa-fulanis are putting the next generation of quota system civil servants that will lord it over them.
Mediocrity in any form is retrogressive. It's the reason why the country is not progressing. Healthy competition brings out the best in a system & promotes development.

Is Buhari also a Legislator?

This kind of hatred has made many of you divert all blames due to our various office holders on the President............

I dont know that passing of Bill in the national assembly is the duty of Buhari....
.wonderful
You must be a political green horn. The President is the leader of the leading party, he guides them on what to do. In Nigeria, there's no legislative independence.

Gbam.

Tell them now, the AGITATORS will now say one useless piece of paper created by the UN is more important than the constitution of Nigeria.

Section 2(1) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 as Amended states that Nigeria is one indivisible and indissoluble sovereign state. This clearly means that Nigeria is a sovereign state that cannot be split or divided into parts neither can any part of or group of people in Nigeria seced from Nigeria.
A typical Nigerian is daft. Who gave us this constitution, is it the people's constitution? Self determination is a fundamental human right. The test is a referendum.
