Lieyel09:The issue is, was the surgery necessary considering the size of the cyst. A single ultrasound scan is not enough to assess a cyst especially when it was done elsewhere. Removing a cyst is not a treatment for subfertility. The couple were anxious and needed extensive counselling. |
The story is pathetic, however there are some issues. We were not informed of the specialty of the doctor & the age of the woman. If the lady had subfertility with ovarian cyst, all the investigations including an HSG should have been done before the surgery. What was the cause of the subfertility? Probably pelvic inflammatory disease which resulted in the frozen pelvic making it difficult to see the uterus and fallopian tubes. Meaning they were not removed but were buried in the pelvic adhesions. The adhesions must have involved the bowels resulting in intestinal perforation while trying to free them. These are things that can happen during an abdominal surgery. The problem started when the surgeon did only a primary repair of the injured intestine without performing an ileostomy (opening a passage for faeces) to aid in healing of the bowel. During follow up, with the patient now having a distended abdomen he should have know that faeces were collecting in the abdominal cavity. He should have reopened the abdomen or refer the patient to a facility with a general surgeon. The good thing is that the lady is still alive but her chances of conception is slim. |
Gerrard59:A post menopausal woman has no viable ova (eggs). |
Where & how did she deliver at 57 years? In as much as they celebrate their babies, they should be honest to help others. Possibilities: the couple had assisted reproduction & delivery by caesarean section; assisted reproduction with a younger sorrugate mother or the babies were adopted. |
adem30:By not following due process, the GMD of NNPC had criminal intentions. It is an act of insurbodination, abuse of office & gross misconduct. |
Very unfortunate incident. Sometimes people do risky things to have fun. He died from alcohol intoxication. How does it kill: cause hypoglycemia (reduces blood sugar level), depresses the cardio-respiratory centres & causes coma. Can also cause acute liver failure leading to toxaemia, renal shunt down, coma & death. This is the end result of a risky life style. |
The major problem of the country is lack of visionary leadership & Akwa Ibom State is not an exception. We overlook the basic principles, look down on our professionals & are always eager to collaborate with expatriate to rip the system. Standard healthcare is expensive & an average akwaibomite is poor. What was needed was a basic insurance programme that would have provided funds for the smooth running of the hospital. This will not be done because the AKSG is not ready to commit a reasonable percentage of her allocation to upgrade the healthcare delivery system. The National Health Act 2014 has not yet been implemented by the FG. The states can domesticate the act and implement it. Unless we get our health policies right, the healthcare delivery system will continue to be in a mess. |
Importation of cars through the land border had been banned. Any car brought in through the land borders is a smuggled car. Finally, any dealer who insists on bringing your car from Cotonou may be dealing on stolen vehicles. Bewarned! |
Bid N2.5m. What's the mileage? Can the car be brought to Jalingo? Send more pic. on whatapp O7064510021 |
This government has nothing to offer. Why export yams in the raw form? The yams should have been processed. We need agricultural experts to man that Ministry. This old man lacks ideas to man the Ministry of Agriculture. |
menstrualpad:Ford is a British vehicle |
frosbel2:What's wrong in drinking beer? |
Alanzazani:That is why restructuring with resource control is necessary. The greatest problem in this country is mediocrity backed by sectional interest. It's unfortunate that a Minister cannot get appointment to see a President on a matter of urgent public interest. We are doomed as a nation. Lets see how PMB will respond to the issue raised. |
Nikbaebrown:The man is free to expressed his opinion. You don't to attack his personality. What he said is the truth. |
The writer is approaching the issue of marriage from the religious point of view. But marriage predates religion & no one school of thought can claim to be an authority in marriage. However, a successful marriage has basic principles: - Love, tolerance, understanding, ability to share & take responsibilities & good communication. |
Don't blame the two Aboki governors. Old age is a problem. They have lost touch with reality. |
I wish to commend the AKSG on this laudable project. Congratulations on the 30TH Anniversary Celebration of the State. |
MasterRahl:After that what happens? What's the significance of their engagement? |
Akwa Ibomites need industries, jobs, reorientation from superstitious beliefs and poverty. The State earns the highest from petro-resources but most of the citizens are very poor. Obviously, something is not right with governance in the State. |
Reason: Voltage is the electrical force measured in volts. You say high/low voltage not current. However, in electricity when voltage is low, current is also low. The formula: V=IR refers. So the current is low is correct. |
The concept of a burial being six feet deep goes back to a time in history when people were not buried in concrete, metal or fiberglass outer containers and sometimes not even in caskets. This depth was thought deep enough to prevent animals from digging up the corpe. |
The AKASA Coordinator threw caution to the wind in revealing his findings without appropriate data analysis. What is the population of married couples in the state? How many couples were tested? He wants to justify the budget voted to his Agency. Very appalling statistics. |
Myomectomy is done succesfully in Nigerian hospitals. Even in abroad complications can occur. Why the rush to India? |
BroZuma:Those with sickle cell anaemia can be managed but to prevent the disease premarital counselling is very important. An SS or AS should only marry an AA to prevent the conception of an SS. |
The story needs to be confirmed. Who is the husband, where did she do antenatal care, where was the delivery conducted and how did she deliver? It could be a scam done in collaboration with a baby factory & a spiritual home. |
The stone age did not end for lack of stones. Echoes to the end of big oil. We need to pay attention. Volvo announced today that from 2019, they will no longer produce new cars with internal combustion engines. All their cars will be Electric. Pause for a few seconds and think about that. In 10 years from then by 2029 all warranties on current Volvo cars would have expired. By 2030 all Volvo vehicles on the road, would be electric. Ripple effect to Mercedes first and then GM. By 2030 oil as we know it will be over. My prediction is that oil will sell for less than $10 a barrel in 2030. When this happens, the likes of Gov. Bello will not be joking when serious national issues are discussed. |
LionDeLeo:Could the host survive without the monthly allocation from the resources from the South. |
Ekuru:That's is what is seen as a befitting burial where he comes from. May his soul rest in peace. |
Most drug manufacturers will always document that their product is contraindicated in pregnancy to avoid litigations because of no prior trials in pregnant women. However the FDA classification is used to administer drugs to pregnant women. Class A: safe in pregnancy; multivitamins, some antibiotics e.g. penicillins, analgesics . e.g. paracetamol Class B: safe in animals, researh not done in humans Class C: has detrimental effect but benefit outweighs the risk; most drugs used in pregnancy Class D: risks outweighs the benefit Class X: not safe, absolutely contraindicated in pregnancy e.g. cytotocic drugs |
Methodist Church:- Charles Wesley composed a lot of the hymns in the hymn books. |
Your dad has bed sores from poor nursing management of a prolonged bedridden disease. He should be taken to a tertiary hospital with experts to manage the primary disease and the decubitus ulcers. He will need a lot of antibiotics, good nutrition, wound debridement and investigations. If nothing is done urgently he will deteriorate rapidly because of overwhelming sepsis, fluids and elctrolyte inbalance, anaemia and multiple organ failure. |
princepeter566:I do not believe this your story. What was your sister's ailment. Except for some emergencies, patients need proper preparation before surgery. |
